I think its an interesting idea ... it would keep history in tact and allow us to play out those events.
But if they would go to go to the effort of making the Brass Monday Trial, I would want to use my own character and not the Pleistocene-era Phalanx members. Alternate history FTW!
Or ... who's to say that my hero wasn't there anyway, fighting along side the Phalanx? Hmm ... -
Everyone in Praetoria is a mutant if you ask me.
And the Rogue Isles too.
Stinking mutants. -

Roger that Burt, and congratulations. Be advised, however, that there are two more, repeat, two more motherhumpers.

Quote:I'm a degreed Geologist (saying that makes me sound smarter than my B.S. would, in itself, indicate). I love dinosaurs. Bob Bakker is my hero, what can I say.i sincerely appreciate you choosing Cretaceous specifically. you could, thematically put a Volcano into a dino-zone, and expand on the non-human rigs mostly with new heads and tails and back pieces.
Quote:a roller coaster zone/beach zone/ themepark zone can be collapsed into one.

New zones I'd like to see:
* Cretaceous Zone
* Marianas Trench
* Mars Zone
* Rollercoaster Zone
* Daytona Beach
* Disney World
* Suburbs Zone
* Volcano Zone
* Akron, Ohio Zone
* Common Sense Zone -
Quote:No way man! There's no reason to remove Hide, Smoke Flash, or Blinding Powder. Those things are what Ninjitsu is about. You need to remove Caltrops for Scrappers because they get Caltrops in their Weapons Mastery. It would be a redundant power.Remove Hide, Caltrops, and Smoke Flash. Then you just need to back-fill 3 powers. Actually, Blinding Powder should be removed from a scrapper version as well. So that's just about 1/2 the set gone.
Prof., if you're a VIP (or plan to become one) definitely run the Signature arcs ("Who Will Die") there are a lot of great maps and the story is enjoyable ... just don't analyze it too closely. If you're staying F2P ... I can't comment on if they're worth buying or not. -
Quote:I use Fire Armor and Fire Melee as a substitute for Radiation Armor/Melee. Just recolor it green and yellow! Looks good and feels about right. Radiation Sword? Hah!So did I miss it or has no one mentioned radiation melee yet? I'm disappointed.
The down side is that you're trading -Def in your attacks for +Damage ... Wait, did I say down side? I'd make that trade any day. The REAL down side is that you can't slot the Achilles -Res Proc anywhere ... sadness. -
Quote:I suppose Ninjutsu prooobably wouldn't really work on any AT other than Stalker, but I can dream.
Why not?
For scrappers, remove "Caltrops" and substitute a different power, then BAM! a perfectly fine set.
You can even keep "Hide" (rename it, if you like). Scrappers, Brutes and Tankers don't get crits out of hide, and they can't benefit from Assassin Strike from Hide. Keep the Defense bonuses and treat it as a stealth power inherent to the set.
There's absolutely no reason Ninjitsu wouldn't make a fine set for other melee archetypes. -
Nice.
I expect Omega to be a similar power as Alpha, but applying their bonuses to Incarnate powers as well.
Hybrid, we know.
The remaining three? I don't know. I'd like to see an AoE Control, at least. Possible an AoE Debuff too.
Way back, Posi said that these ten slots were only the beginning and that the Incarnate system would continue on afterward. So, what about THOSE slots? -
And don't forget about the Signature Story Arc(s) Or, SSAs. The conclusion (seventh part) of the first arc "Who Will Die?" gives us our first toe-hold into ... SPAAAAACE!!!

I nominate "Glowball" for Miss Yin's super hero name! That, or the "Scarlet Midriff".
I think Back Alley Brawler should step out of retirement from the Regulators and settle the "are you a Phalanxer or not" argument (he isn't) and just join already. I like my BABs.
Quote:I must be hanging around right-thinking people!Gotta agree up to that point, dude. Anything after, well... no. Except for your suggestion on TF Contacts that is.
Having a new (possibly player-created) Phalanxer be leader? Don't know about that one ... I think the new leader will have to have tons of experience, know the team well and its history, the psychology and personality of its members, their fighting techniques ... and blah and blah. Positron, in my mind, is comparable to Iron Man's leadership of the Avengers (when he was leader for a while there). He played an important role in bringing the current Phalanx together as well, and therefore I have no problems with him becoming leader.
Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit? Sure, bring them along too. War Witch? Love the character, but not so much as a Phalanxer. Have her join Vanguard to be with Apex where they can reminisce about Horus and the old days. -
Quote:I also bought Going Rogue and a couple of the Booster Packs, so I assume I have access to those as well?
Yup and yup.
EDIT:
If you're into melee archtypes, Street Justice is the favorite set, hands down, of 100% of City of Heroes players!*

Hero 1 has no reason to join the Phalanx, and it would be silly to add him to their roster. If Hero 1 needs a "family", it should be with Vanguard. If the Phalanx needs a patriotic presense (and I don't think it does), then Ms. Liberty should step away from the Vindicators and join them. She should not be considered for leadership of the Phalanx, however.
I'd put Ms. Liberty in charge of the old Statesman TF and put Back Alley Brawler in charge of training in Atlas.

That's all I have to say about that. -
I don't have a problem with them delaying Staffs, but it would be nice to see power sets released in the order they were tested on Beta/Test.
Releasing Staves first would have given them more time to add alternate pets instead of just the Stoopid Wolf(TM). Now Beast Mastery, a set that could have benefited from some extra work is out and about while Staves, a set that was apparently ready to go, is in the wings. -
Wow, I only have 1071 badges on my (single) badger. I feel inadequate now.

The following is based on facts that I made up in my own mind.
I wonder if the Sorcery Power Pool will be a work-around for customizing the high-demand-for-customization powers from all the power pools. In other words, it was build with alternate animations for each of the powers in it.
So - a Hasten clone (cast as a spell or, "no effects" option) and an Aid other/Aid Self clone (cast as a spell or a "healing stone" option) and etc.
Knowing nothing about how computer programming really works, other than the electron-based life forms known as 'puter gnomes, this could be a way around a rehaul of every power pool by introducing one that has the powers people want to customize in it. -
My villains would buy their slots this way, but only if the consequences were having to snuggle with Jessica Alba.
Or Chris Evans, you know. -
I found a bug ... my balloon-sword clowns shoot bees from their mouths after I purchased the Bee Bark power for my wolves. It looks neat, but it makes them even MORE overpowered.
-
Bill, don't just post blank space. What's the matter with you?

Two words: The world's largest and most diverse harem history has ever seen.

My hunch is that a de-riktified Hero 1 will be joining Vanguard. It makes the most sense.
In the Dilemma Diabolique trial, it will be easy to replace Sister Psyche with Penelope Yin with "phasing tech".
It makes sense that Positron becomes the new leader of the Phalanx. He's the one that pushed for Statesman to bring the group together at the beginning. Sure, he lacks experience in leading, but so does the rest of the Phalanx. It will be interesting to see how his leadership tests the new Phalanx, too, and what complications arise (if any).
Back Alley Brawler might have more experience at leading, but he has less experience with the members of the Phalanx, the extent of their powers, their psychology, their personality traits, and how they interact with each other. In my mind it would be like a manager at Burger King being assigned to manage a McDonalds (I like hamburgers). Or, for a sports metaphor, the manager of the Pittsburg Steelers being placed in charge of the Browns. -
My gut feeling is that all of this will be addressed:
Recluse is redeemed
Red Widow boots Recluse out and takes control of the Isles.
Arachnos takes on a new, more ominous goal and becomes a more dangerous threat to the world.
Scirocco is redeemed.
Mu'Vorkan takes Scirocco's place as (Widow's) henchman.
Freedomw Phalanx tries to pull itself together.
Lastly, the Clockwork King is redeemed but in an unusual turn of events Penelope Yin's body is disintegrated in a toaster accident and her brain is placed in a jar and plopped on top of a Praetorian Clockwork body and she becomes the Phalanx's arch-nemesis, the Clockwork Princess.
