  1. Super Strength/Dark Amor 4TW!!!111

Rage will compliment the Fury meter quite nicely. Also, the To Hit bonues from Rage will allow me to put some nice Endurance Reductions in my slotting in stead of Accuracy and Damage. With Perma Rage, you should be able to hit that damage cap on a Brute without having a full Fury Meter.

Also Dark Armor has it's little bonuses that were just perfect for my concept. Having played an Inv/SS tanker since I began playing this game, I hated the fact that I couldn't stand a chance against Psi Damage Dealers. Well Dark Armor solves that problem with around a 60% Resistance to Psi Damage. Also the PBAoE's from this set like Stun and Fear are nice on top of the Damage AoE that can act as Aggro getter. I like the self heal which really is built around herding. If I'm in the middle of large mob and getting smacked to hell, I hit the self heal and bam! all better. I also like the Self-Rez which can be useful if you take a dive while aggroing a big mob.

But DA rely's on Tough for any good Smash/Lethal Resistance, so instead of Punch, I'll have to respec into Boxing later on and grab Tough.
  2. Woohoo! We have officially been stickied! Villains rejoice!
  3. *lifts pint of ale*

So at the very end was there a big event or did the servers just log everyone out?

Will there be a justification of what happened tonight? Like all villains were arrested? And where the heck were the signature villains? Why did we have to do all the dirty work?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This event was a response to Operation Destiny. Statesman does not take kindly to Lord Recluse breaking so many villains out of the Ziggurat. The Freedom Phalanx and Longbow were pushed back but i am sure even more heroes will soon take up the battle against the villains of the Rogue Isles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you for that answer, but how in the storyline did you justify the mass "disappearance" of all the beta characters? Just like in the CoH Beta where you said that the Rikti killed all of them :P

  9. Thanks for showing up Si! How many of you Pillars actually came? I know that you guys have your SG night on Mondays, sorry about that
  10. For all those new to raiding, this is a good thread to follow to help reduce general lag for all those without a $3000 computer. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
  11. Tonight was a busy night so lets see:

    Celestial Lad
    AceMACE
    Lothriel
Vampire Lord (and several Vampire Nation folks)
    Myrm
    KaliMagdalene

and a bunch of other non-posters.

Maldini: One of the Shadow Shard TFs and he joined WC's orgy on Jurassik in CF.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh yeah, we gave it to him but good that night...
  13. Well if you forget someone, then those people should post in here saying that they teamed with you. It would be the "nice" way of reminding people I suppose.
  14. At a recent raid, I had the pleasure of interacting with Zubel, Netherflare, Jsaldto, Blue's Energy, and many others.

On various Shard TF's I had the pleasure of teaming with S1ice n Dice, Gaelen, F0rge, and several others.
  15. Let's see, who have I teamed with recently...........

    Moonbear
Ranma and Miyoko -> on a quick Raver team
    Icewing Death
Drizzit -> a while back for the Kronos mission

That's about it. I've seen and said hi to a bunch though.
  16. So not only couldn't they datamine the badges, but the Justin Augustine TF is currently bugged, and even when they fix it, they can't give the badges retroactively even though I provided a time and date as to its completion. So that's the third time I have to complete this TF, thanks!

If it was Quarterfield's, I would have been extremely pissed off....
  17. Wow, with all the events on the calendars lately, it makes it difficult to schedule a weekday Hamidon Raid. I would do it on the weekends if I could make it on, but unfortunately that's not possible..........
  18. I'll tell ya, even throwing an AV at the end of the first one, would be a gigantic improvement to it. Maybe a monster of an AV........

That would at least give you something to look forward to while you're wasting endless hours doing the same mission cycle over and over.
  19. Thanks Positron. As much as we [censored] and moan about the badge issue (including myself) this is very nice to hear, especially the part about reworking the Shadow Shard TF's. This is excellent news to those who don't want to redo them.

In the meantime, I will try and figure out a way to shorten them as much as possible using the powers that are available to us.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
You people are really good at steering everything off topic and swollowing everyone in your flame war. Whether or not accolades are useful to any significant degree (which I believe they are not) is irrelevant, since none of the Badges in question are prerequisites for any Accolades.

The fact remains that you should never have spent a significant amount of time on something that was not fun just so you can get a BADGE, especially knowing it's a badge that doesn't even exist yet. The fact also remains that it's not worth the amount of time and resources it would take to retroactively assign badges to people in order to prevent them from doing a couple TFs over again.

I don't have a problem with people who feel the need to collect things, despite doing things that seem unreasonable. My problem is with the people who continue to whine even after it has been clearly stated that it's unfeasable. You are like little kids begging their dad to buy them a toy even after he has explained that he can't afford it. Selfish.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Knowing that the Shard TF's didn't give a badge when I went through them, I tackled all of them, including Dr. Quarterfield's just to say I did them. It was more becaues everyone was like "oh that TF takes forever, dont' even bother." I don't know....maybe I just like a challenge.

The bottom line is, most of us complaining will probably do them again. I will do it again, just to find the quickest way possible to complete it, so that I can share the information with others so that more people can experience the TF's with the smallest amount of aggrivation possible.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Let me take off my tin foil hat a moment and make an inspired paranoid guess...

Badges are to encourage collectors to experience every single scrap of content in a game that isn't adding new content fast enough. They were not invented here, indeed they were used quite successfully in Star Wars: Galaxy to prolong the final death throws of that MMO by a month or three...

Adding badges (after release) that can only be earned at an early part of a character's life, and never gained after that point is a way of encouraging people to re-experience the content... ie. Start over if you want this badge Mr. Collector.

And finally, "loosing" badges is a way of making the collectors do some long hideous part of that badge earning again. It is super usefull for prolonging the life of your contentless game if you loose the ones that take hours and hours to do.

Oh yes, and if anyone calls you on it, have a dev step in and say it would take TWO YEARS to data mine the badges. Anyone in any database/programming position in the world who has ever worked on a game like this (or even on more complex programming endeavours) can tell you that if the data exists, and its in a database, the time to get it out is NOT 2 years unless you choose to wait 1 year and 10 months before you begin the search.

I'm sorry Statesman, I'm calling you on this one. That bluff doesn't sit well over here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So given Positrons estimation of how long it took them to datamine when badges first came out, how long do you think it would take to sift through terrabytes of data per server?

I'm just curious, this is in no way meant to be cynical or negative.

Ask anyone who has participated in Hamidon Raids.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now would be a good time to hush, Maldini. You're coming off like a moron.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not even close. In many raids there has been a time when there wasn't enough trollers/defenders/blasters with holds to hold the Hamidon down long enough to stop him from spawning. Other times they were just on the borderline of not having him held. With 30 or so trollers/defenders/blasters using the Vanguard accolade power, that effects is multiplied greatly, and gives them that much more effectiveness.

Maybe you should look in the mirror before calling anyone a moron.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Zookeeper is an Achievement badge, which in and of itself does nothing. It is a prerequisite for the Vanguard accolade, which doubles mez, holds, and knockback for 1 minute every 25 minutes. You're trying to tell me that is one of the best ways to stay alive in the late game? I find that really hard to believe.

You talk about me wanting to stop you from voicing your opinion (which was never my intention) while you yourself are telling me to stop voicing my own opinion. Hypocrisy.

And thanks for being a presumptuous troll and not directly responding to any of my points or questions with anything more than insults. I'm not even going to respond to the rest of your useless post.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, the Vanguard accolade is very useful. Ask anyone who has participated in Hamidon Raids. Sometimes, that extra hold time is just what is needed to hold the Hamidon long enough to take him down. Like I said, if you didn't know this, then you shouldn't be posting on a topic such as the usefulness of accolades.

Well the Monkey Badge is for an accolade. So to get the accolade power to help make the game that much more enjoyable, some people have to do things that they don't necessarily want to, like kill 10 K monkeys. It was doing something in the short term that was enjoyable so that something in the long term would be more enjoyable. It's one of those "grin and bear it" type things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Such a nice attempt to rationalize. Sadly, I don't believe it will work.

See, either Galactiman is a smart guy playing dumb to rile people or he really is an idiot. Either way, there is no reasoning with him.

Look up Accolades Galctiman and you will understand why people collect certain Badges

    [/ QUOTE ]
Are the Task Force badges in question part of those Accolades?

Also, is another 10 endurance worth the time it takes to get it?

They can't do the badges due to it being unfeasible. Live with it. With all the crap that's flying around now due to I5 and CoV, I doubt this TF badge is even in the periphery of their concern. Pick your battles, people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually the Task Force badges were not even part of this sub discussion, so I don't know why you even responded. And yes, some of the Accolades like the Vanguard can be very useful in the right situations. Also that extra 15% to your HP could be just what a blaster, defender, controller etc. need to get out of a tricky situation.

I've gotten over the fact that they can't datamine, so I'll be doing them again mainly to help out SG mates who want to do them. And as far as picking battles, we can battle anything we choose to. That's why we have forums - to discuss anything we damn well please. The devs said that they won't do it, so there's no argument anymore, but if people want to come on here and rant then let them. If you don't want to hear it, then read another topic/forum.
