Fatale Attraction review (arc id 181264)

    Overall
I actually really liked the plot. It started off slow, but built up over the course of the investigation; I liked how the missing persons case seamlessly flowed into uncovering the horrible truth behind Soul Trapped Gems (now I'm going to have guilty pangs when using those to make IOs). The character designs for the Fatales were very nice, and the writing in the briefings and the debriefings was excellent. Good use of clues and glowies also. I liked the map choices also, which let us see a variety of scenery while making sense in the story. I liked the "You'll be sorry! Chris Jenkins is my lawyer!" references and am somewhat relieved that I didn't actually get sued by him.

I did feel there was missing text in several places (text on the progress bars on some glowies, no dialog/repetitive dialog for hostages in the last couple missions) and had some stylistic quibbles about formatting in places. I think these could be improved, but all that is relatively minor.

I gave this story 5 stars.

Thank you very much for this review! You brought up some good points for criticism and I implemented what changes I could. I'm glad you enjoyed the arc!

  3. Great idea for a thread! It looks like you'll be busy with all these arcs, but if you can run through mine when you can I'd appreciate it.

    Title: Fatale Attraction
    Arc ID: 181264
Synopsis: This is a story focused arc about a rising gang of female street criminals in Paragon City that Meg Mason is looking to bust. What starts off as a missing persons investigation and the search for a possible witness leads you into a much broader and darker case that requires a hero to resolve. [SFMA]

There are two very short missions, one timed mission, and the remaining two are on lareg maps. Only one short mission has a Defeat All Enemies condition. The missions are all for levels 1-54 and you could solo this one all the way if you had to, but a team would make it more fun. Total play time required should be no longer than one hour.
  4. I ran through your arc Celebrity Kidnapping [Arc ID: 1388] and it was very enjoyable. I prefer a more serious or gripping storyline but this was a humorous change of pace. I particularly liked the use of the paparazzi's cameras! As another reviewer posted, you may want to update Ms. Holiday's outfit into something more "hot." I rated your story very well.

    My arc is below:

    Fatale Attraction [SFMA/CGMA]
    Arc ID: 181264
    Difficulty: 1-54
    Morality: Heroic
Missions: Two short missions, one timed mission (#4), and two missions on large maps. Only one of the short missions has a Defeat All Enemies condition while the rest require a Defeat Boss, Collection, and/or Escort.
    Duration: One hour should suffice
  5. When you have some time, feel free to try an arc I recently published.

  6. TEAM PARAGON [VICTORY]
I'm still looking for a solid core of founding members for my SG on Victory, Team Paragon. Team Paragon is modeled on the classic, four-color Golden Age image based on some of our favorite comic book teams - The Avengers, The Justice League, and The Freedom Phalanx, just to name a few. I'm essentially looking for players who play City of Heroes in the same style I do, which includes some of the common sense subjects we've all read before:

    1. Casual or Semi-Active Play: I'm a working adult and don't have the time to play CoH as often as I'd like. My play style borders between Casual and Semi-Active, so I'm looking for players who are in the same boat I'm in. I play a few hours during the week (EST Zone), and a bit longer on Saturday and/or Sunday.

    2. Maturity: I stay away from players who use vulgarity, cause grief, make the game unenjoyable for others, or otherwise become a hassle to play with. If I ever have to place someone on an Ignore list, so be it. I just won't team up with them.

    3. Committed Players: I always commit to the completion of a mission or Task Force when I'm invited, and I do expect the same from others. Too many times have I been invited to a team or Task Force only to have the leader, and often everyone else abort when the going got tough. If you can also commit to at least finishing what you start or sign up with, let's talk!

    4. Team Paragon's Goals: Team Paragon's mission is to provide the casual or semi-active player an opportunity to be part of a team with reliable players to patrol the streets of Paragon City with. If you'd like to obtain any Task Force badges or complete the missions assigned to you by your Contacts, it may be best to not rely solely upon random team invites, or to randomly invite other players. Members of Team Paragon will probably also have alternate heroes who could help you as well.

    5. The Heroes: Although I don't knock anyone's development of their toon and will team up with anyone who is a great player, I just can't see my main hero, Major Paragon, being part of a SG with heroes named Filter-Boy, Swank Girl, or AwesomeMan2. I put all of my heroes/alternates through an objective Comic Book Filter Test - if their name, costume design, and brief description would be interesting to read about in a comic book, then it works. If we're alike and you put as much effort as I do into developing your heroes beyond their power sets, let's talk!

    6. Team Size: I'm looking to keep Team Paragon's membership anywhere between 8-15 heroes. There should be at least one of each Archetype in the SG, with few duplications of our main powers among multiple Archetypes. Other than myself, there are already 2 other players in the SG, so there's plenty of opportunity here.

    7. Prestige Quotas and Bases: None. Building a Base is fun, but I won't demand that anyone must play in SG Mode. If you want to stick around and help fund a Base, then by all means you may do so. I have a small, 1-room Base right now. Only until the SG grows larger with enough Prestige-earning heroes on board will the development of a Base be a goal.

    8. Autokicking: I've set the auto-demotion rate to 30 days, and won't automatically kick you from the SG if you don't play every day or week. After 30 days of inactivity though, I'll send you an in-game email or a global chat message and ask if you still want in. If I don't hear from you within a week, only then will you be discharged from the SG. You can always come back - just ask!

    9. Rank Structures: Some SGs use Prestige goals as a means of promotions. I use the acquisition of Security Levels, Task Force Badges, and the Leadership Power Set as requirements (to me, it just makes sense that an officer or leader in a SG should have some ability in-game to allow the team to benefit from his or her leadership skills - but that's just me). I'm not going to tell anyone how to build their toon, but I'd like to keep the officer ranks reserved for those who really want to work on keeping the SG together. There's nothing wrong with just remaining a Member.

    10. Arenas and PvP Zones: I'm not interested in earning Reputation in the Arena, and I don't enter the PvP Zones just to simply hunt Villains. I'll head into such a zone to complete a mission and will always defend myself and others against any Villains who may attack, but PvP isn't my style of gaming. I don't see Team Paragon becoming a PvP outfit, especially since I can't be active enough to play in that style.

    11. 30-Day Trial: If you'd like to consider helping me develop Team Paragon into a small but manageable and solid team of casual/semi-active players, let's give it 30-days to see how well we work together.
  7. Team Paragon is also seeking new recruits...

Style: We're a Golden Age styled Super Group designed primarily for the casual player, but more active players may also join.

There are no Prestige quotas to fulfill, and no one gets booted until a month or so passes without any activity. Even still, we'll attempt to contact you in-game or via email prior to your release. You can always come back later!

    Reqs:
    1. Any level, archetype, or origin is accepted.
    2. Hero name must be coherent and easily read. Sergeant Valor would work - S3rg3ant V4l0r doesn't.
    3. Costume choice must look suitable for the hero's concept. If you hit the Random button, visit the Tailor first!
    4. A biography is nice. Not necessary to join at first, but do come up with one soon.
    5. Anti-heroes, vigilantes, mercenaries, and dark heroes don't fit the image. You guys are heroes too, but there are plenty of other Super Groups that fit.

Website: No website yet, but one is in the works.

Base: We have a small base right now, but with few members its hardly noteworthy. If you're a skilled Base Architect, we sure could use you!

Contact: For more information, send an email to teamparagon@hotmail.com or look for Major Paragon or The Servicewoman during your next game.

Recruiting Locations: City Hall (Atlas Park), Blyde Square (Steel Canyon), (Skyway City), Next to Manticore (Brickstown), Williams Square (Founder's Falls), Next to Citadel (Talos Island), Next to War Witch (Pocket D)
  8. Mercenaries Incorporated
Team Motto: "When heroes aren't enough..."
Team Colors: Red and Black [not required]
Team Emblem: Globe [not required for costume]

Team Leader: Lanzador, Mutant Blaster [Fire/Devices]

Concept: Mercenaries. Members have to charge non-members Influence to team up with them/work with them on their missions, task forces, or street patrols.

    True "heroes" need not apply...
  9. I have a character on the Champion server named Lanzador, who is a mercenary. Although he charges "heroes" Influence to work with/team up with them, when he isn't in Paragon City he's earning a mercenary's wages working as a drug enforcement consultant and counterterrorism specialist for the DEA and CIA.

His personal life is somewhat lacking, but he makes enough money to keep his armor repaired and technological devices in a state-of-the-art condition.
