I could also go on about /fire vs /mu, if going for AoE, or /soul, if going for ST + almost as good AoE + survivability, but it's late and I want to wrap up this run on rant by deploring once again the annoying trend for people to see everything in black and white and confuse relative statements with absolutes. There is a best and there is a worst, that doesn't mean the worst is unplayable ; the worst active NBA player could probably make a fool out of anyone who's reading these forums at basketball. Sure, you can dress it up by claiming everyone is a winner and is awesome, but who does that help? Maybe the feelings of people who care about the performance of their characters, but then wouldn't we be more helpful to these players by giving them the correct information rather than sugarcoated affirments, assertions that are if you ask me quite condescending as really that's the kind of stuff you feed children, and I feel it's safe to assume the vast majority of people on the boards, especially those who are likely to visit the archetype forums, are at least teens and most likely grown men or women... Then comes the second annoying trend, player compares himself with random people on PUGs, sees himself perform better, concludes powerset combo is better. Holy logical leap Batman, have you stopped and considered that this game takes a bit of skill to play? As little as it might be to some people - again, people who treat everything as an absolute, which is especially silly when discussing skill in a MMO as there are, always, a significant amount of the playerbase who plays at a level that is, let's just say, far below what would be required to have any kind of enjoyable experience in most other video games ; as little as it might seem, the point is there is still much room in this game for personal skill to supplement build differences to a point, and comparing oneself to random players just doesn't make sense. Just yesterday I've seen a blaster taking the alpha against Marauder and his cronies in a Lambda while all the brutes and tankers were sitting on their pancakes, twiddling their thumbs. All melee powersets suck! Let's all reroll blasters! Thankfully it doesn't work this way, and thankfully there is room for something beyond just picking up the power build and closing your eyes, although it can feel that way at times after hours, dozens of hours, hundreds of hours playing the game, which is the kind of time during which you could learn a whole new language or professional activity really, so it should come at no surprise that certain things that are not as obvious to more casual players become child's play for some. Bottomline, you can push absolutely every combo in this game to do pretty cool stuff, far above what is actually required for regular play, but some will have an easier time at it, some will be faster, some will be able to push it even further. Hiding that fact behind happy-go-lucky rhetoric doesn't seem to serve much purpose to me, sure there are people who consider anything but the absolute best to be broken and useless and might then try it, but most likely they'll find out at some point that particular combo isn't the thing it was hyped up to be and will end up feeling disappointed. So the lesson here is you can't change people, but you can rant at them and that makes you feel better for a little while, up until facebook and google finally manage to push for our real identity to be tied to our online personas all the time, and the angry masses come to your home and burn your house for daring to say that guys, it could be that, open parenthesis, two plus one point fifty, close parenthesis, times one point fifteen might just be bigger than, open parenthesis, two plus one point sixty plus one point twenty-five, close parenthesis, times zero point seventy-five, and no home means limited internet access, means the end of the world as we know it.
ALL FEAR THE GIANT WALL OF TEXT!!!!!!

I don't really care for KM. It just feels slow to me with all its hand wavey motions, even though from a numbers stand point it's not bad. Not the best, but not bad.

Lots of setup time and by the time the debuffs were down a good team was already moving on to the next spawn. I find Traps to be much the same but I know some players, including another good friend of mine Local Man, really like the set. I don't dispute it's power, I just don't like the extended setup time.
I have a A/TA corr and Awesome hits the nail on the head here. It's a really fun character, but the extended set up time for the debuffs usually doesn't fit with the speed that teams kill groups of enemies.

Scourging Rain of Arrows is super sweet, though.
  5. Double stacking is fine and it nullifies the defense crash. If I remember right, 3 times is where your crashing enough that it is not worth it anymore, but that is a lot of recharge.

    SS/WP Build Help

    Tweaked it a bit.

I switched kick for air sup to clear up a power pool pick and dropped FA for hasten. I stole a slot from stamina to put a Gaussian's Tohit/Rech in rage.

Keeps the S/L soft cap, perma rage, and foot stomp recharges over 2 seconds faster most of the time because of hasten.

I was thinking that was impossible because rage becomes perma by accident on most builds. Then I saw that it doesn't have hasten and I laughed out loud. I hope you enjoy that over 9 second recharge on foot stomp.

In all seriousness, that build sacrifices way too much to get to S/L soft cap.

Those of us who do actually play the game have gone into a type of hiding. You won't find us in searches, our channels are private, we start in Galaxy City, and move to Kings Row ASAP. The only time any of us touch Atlas Park is to do our Cape and Aura mission, or the occasional trip to WW to grab something quickly.

If you know where to look, you'll find us running CoP's every Wednesday and Saturday night. Mothership raids on the fly (could be noon, could be 4 a.m.) Take your pick of TF/SF's because we're probably running that too.

I promise, anyone who has had a bad experience on Freedom, it's only because of Atlas Park and the morons it produces. Want my advice, unless they've got a 24+month vet badge by their name, knows how to actually spell their toon's name (i.e. 'John Doe', as opposed to J0hn D0e, or 001JohnDoe100, or any combination of idiocy that makes anyone who's over the age of 5 wonder if you know the English Language at all), and are level 11-50 in Atlas Park 'LFF', ignore them entirely. Don't even give a courtesy ignore button. Just pretend like they don't exist. Your global ignore would fill up too fast.

I promise, there are content players on Freedom. I'm one of them, and I will gladly introduce you to 30 more.
I've never had any of these problems Red side on Freedom.

Same goes for Shield Charge and, more than likely, Lightning Rod ( i havent personally tested that one like i have the other ones). No matter what the Fury bars give Brutes, they still don't have the Brute (pardon the pun) strength of a scrapper. But that's not really related to this thread.

As far as this farm goes, once you understand how to level in it, it works nicely.
At 50 Scrappers do more damage in nearly all regular gaming. Brutes do more damage at their cap than scrappers do at their cap, but only by a small amount (e.g. lightning field from electric armor ticks for 34 on a brute and 33 on a scrapper iirc.) Lightning Rod and Shield Charge are psuedo pets and have their own damage cap at 400% and are vastly superior on Scrappers.

    SS/WP Build Help

Focused accuracy is almost 100% wasted on a SS using rage.

On a WP, you can probably get away with only putting the Perf Shif %+end if your quick recovery is slotted. QR gives a bigger boost than stamina anyways.

I'd miss the taunt in blazing aura too much to roll a scrapper. I have a Spines/Elec scrapper thats been chilling at about 25 for months because the lack of taunt aura is awful.

Afterall, Shades are probably one of if not the hardest AT's to play (correctly,) so I don't think it would be unbalanced to add more payoff to doing it right (especially considering the fact that most people don't do it right, due to the previously mentioned difficulty in doing so..)
Resistance debuffs are resisted by damage resistance. This is why your don't have a stat you can monitor in the Combat attributes tab called Damage Resistance Debuff Resistance like you do with defense.

So at 85% resistance because of eclipse a WS resists resistance debuffs at 85%.
  20. All good advice from Gallifrey.

Your current build does look pretty bad, but you should still be able to run fire farms to get the cash to make it good. There are plenty of great builds posted in the thread Gallifrey linked for you.

I'd suggest making 2 builds one a pure farm build and another to run regular content.

Even if it hits once everytime it fires, it will only boost the dps of that power a few points. It is pretty underwhelming.

So if you can't use the slots anywhere else, go for it, but I definately would not prioritize it.

I tired it out tonight and got to level 26 in a couple hours. I didn't have either a Claws or an /Elec so its perfect for me to put these together. I started dying more in the 20's, but I think that is a result of me paying less attention and needing to make the inspiration binds.

Like TopDoc said, I don't see it dethroning my SS/Fire/mu as my main farmer at 50, but there is no arguing with the self leveling speed. It's astounding what you can do for 0 investment.
