That depends upon if the sum of the two magnitudes of knockback is greater than one or not. I'm assuming that knock-back magnitude can be made arbitrarily small while still being non-zero.

But looking at the numbers for the example I provided I see you're right. They both provide .67 magnitude knock-back.

It is possible, and with existing enhancements even, just not the normal ones.

Punch has a 30% chance to knock-down. The Kinetic Combat proc has a 20% chance to knock-down. If you slot Punch with the Kinetic Combat proc, there's a 6% chance they both fire, a 14% chance that just Kinetic Combat fires, and a 24% chance that the Punch knock-down fires. So total, you get 44% chance of knock-down.

So, if they made enhancements that could only be slotted in Knock-back powers and acted as Procs, we would have "Increase chance of knock-down"

  4. I want Uncontrollable Leap. You pick a direction you want to travel, and you're hit with unresistable mag 400 knock-back in that direction. It would have a Tpoooomm! sound effect.

Well, they aren't represented by the villains.

Stalkers can also represent patience, Masterminds overwhelming power, Widows versatility, but I don't know about the rest.

I'll give the vices some thought.

I don't care about the weapons. I'm absolutely fine. I personally would be thrilled if my vacuum cleaner had a flame thrower.

I want to know who decided that these machines needed breasts. I'm not saying all the robots should be male. I'm saying that the robots shouldn't have gender.

Sure, but I don't think that you've just started playing a level 1 character. So while the advice might not work for someone who is experienced and is playing a level 50, I think it holds pretty well for most characters in the 1-10 range (possibly up to 22). The guide is for people who haven't played much.

Take a look at your suggested revisions and see if that information holds at level 2.

  16. I pronounce sie as tzee and hir as huer. But then, there are places when room and rum are homophones, so I suppose that I shouldn't have made a blanket statement that they aren't, because given different accents, they might be.

Also, I have a tendency to have bag and beg as homophones myself. I suffer vowel movements now and then.
  17. Virgil Tarikoss tried once to eat his weight in marshmallows, but admitted defeat on the fourth bag. He could not say "Fluffy Bunnies" for the next three days.
  18. English is not the only language with homophones. And neither sie or hir is a homophone.

It causes no harm to use sie or hir, and if it keeps people from getting upset, I don't see the reason not to.

Just because something doesn't upset you, it doesn't necessarily mean that someone who is upset is upset over nothing.
  19. In German, if you have three male students and five female students, it's standard to address the group with the masculine form of student. But there's a movement to use the word "StudentInnen" instead.

That's true, but that doesn't mean we should keep masculine as the default gender. Other languages are moving away from it too, as evidenced by Germany's StudentInnen.

When I started writing my post yours wasn't there. I typed up something about the Discworld, then started writing about the Mu, because I thought they had a pact with Hecquat to get power, but couldn't remember her name, so I went to research and discovered that it wasn't really a pact with Hecquat.

Since Susan inherited Death's handmark on her face from when he slapped her mother, I suppose that there are things in Discworld that you can be born with that are not Hereditary traits.

And yes, in Discworld, science deals heavily with magic. Which makes sense, because science is about exploring the world in which you live. Discworld is a world of magic, so there would be a lot of scientists researching magic, well... wizards doing science.

In City of Heroes... why aren't the Mu mutants? From what I've read, they improved their magic abilities by selective breeding.
  23. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with the singular "they," I don't correct other people who use it, but it just doesn't sound right to my ear.
