Well, it used to be that combat modifiers for being 2-4 levels higher than your target would provide to-hit bonuses. That was changed to being an accuracy bonus around the same time that the Global Defense Reduction happened, I think. Perhaps a little beforehand.

Most teams I'm on do have tactics, we just don't discuss them. We don't have to. We know what to do, we've played long enough. If something catastrophic happens, we'll discuss a better way to approach things in the future, but that's it.

As to the problem of "everyone has the same build," you're overstating the problem, but I think that having more choice is never a bad thing. If they added more power pools (not ancillary power pools, though it'd be nice to have more of those too), there would be more build options.

I have to agree with Vanden on this. I know people have been asking for Regen to get Quick Recovery for a long time, but it's not the most useful power. It'd be better to get something to actually improve survivability. Regeneration is significantly weaker for stalkers than for scrappers just because stalkers have fewer hit points. It might be hard to figure out a thematic match, but something Ice Patch or Oppressive Gloom would be very helpful.

And Super Reflexes was compensated for the lack of Lucky. If you check, you'll see that Evasion provides 21.38% AoE defense whereas both Focused Fighting and Focused Senses provide 13.88% AoE defense. That's a 7.5% difference, and you'll find that Agile, Dodge, and Lucky (on scrappers) only provide 5.63% defense. Giving Stalkers lucky would provide about 10% more Defense Debuff Resistance and more scaling resistances. Again, the set could be better served with a different power.

The problem I see with your suggested powers for Energy Aura and Ninjitsu is that neither of those powers would take any enhancements.

I like the Dark Armour, Ice Armour, and Electric Armour suggestions though.

For a moment there I had hoped that there was an inspiration that acted like Boost Range. Though, to be fair, with Power Boost and Long Rang Missile, I'm already at the point where my computer doesn't render enemies at the acme of my attack range.

What Archetype are these numbers for?

Edit: Ah, I see now, it's the secondary set, rather than the primary.

    Hm.

  6. The stuff you can buy with Empyrean Merits is remarkably overpriced if they make this change. (which is not to say it's reasonably priced now)

It seems that "Nude Attacking a Space Craft" will be on display at the Talos Museum of Modern Art, and to appease the insurance providers, the TMMA has hired Overdrive to protect the exhibit.

You could go over there, bring her coffee and offer her a hand.

But then again, if you tried to steal something, Overdrive would almost certainly have to... punish you.
  9. If it's the "Day Jobs of the Signature Heroes" then I'm guessing it was deleted for exactly the same reason I decided to stop reading it.
  10. I suppose that, strictly speaking, you would currently the answer is undefined, so it's not too different from dividing by zero.

However, the in this situation, the answer is undefined because the powers are not clearly defined.

Does Sister Psyche's mind riding ability count as an attack? What sort of attacks does Mirror Spirit have the power to reflect back?

So, I'll go out and say that, even though both answers are the same, what happens is not defined, they're undefined for entirely different reasons and are hence nothing alike.

And I'll guess that Steelclaw knew that when posing the question, so I'll stick with my original "I fail to see the clever."

It's part of the assassination effect. It's only on the Assassin's Strike type power. In my experience, it only goes off when your target survives the Assassin's Strike, but I've heard some noise to the effect that they've fixed it, and it goes off regardless, but that could just have been a suggestion to improve stalkers.
  14. Playstyle.

Brutes have to keep fury up. If they let it drop, they do less damage than tanks. It's pretty easy to keep fury up, if you're okay running from spawn to spawn.

With my tanks, it's more leisurely. I don't defeat spawns as quickly, but I don't need to. If the video I'm listening to ends and I want to switch to a new video, I don't even need to finish the combat I'm in, I'll just alt-tab over, switch to the next video, and alt-tab back. Sure, I don't do that in teams, but solo, I'm rarely in any danger.
  15. Whereas I'll vote Fire/Stone tank (though I suppose you could work Stone/Fire Brute too, but who wants to play a brute?)

Stone Melee has good control (better control than Super Strength), Fiery Aura has good AoE.

But Ice Armour/Stone Melee is good for a glacial build. The AoE damage isn't as good, but the build will have more debuffs and get more aggro.

And Celestial Lord's claim of "not even a tanker could steal your aggro" is entirely unsubstantiated.
  16. Sell you a tank? I'll give it a try.

As to the running around; I don't find this happening often. On tanks with cone attacks, I'll occasionally jump to try to leverage an AoE attack better. If you want to avoid that temptation, Super Strength, Stone Melee, Martial Arts, and Energy Melee are all entirely devoid of cone attacks. Of those, I've really enjoyed Super Strength and Stone Melee (From level 15 to level 35, Energy Melee is kind of painful). I've only played Martial Arts to level 16 right now, and I'm enjoying it, but since Crane Kick has pretty good knock-back, if you don't want to run about, I'd suggest either not doing Martial Arts or skipping Crane Kick. Kinetic Melee has one cone attack, but it's also the most common skipped power in the set, since it's cone and does knock-back, so you'd probably be alright with that. Kinetic Melee was good fun too.

Primaries: It's hard to go wrong here. If you go Stone Melee or Super Strength, that's 35 or 38 levels without a damaging PBAoE, so you might consider a set with a damage aura. You could also pick up Leap Attack. Combat Jumping is a nice bonus for any set (Resistance sets can use the extra immobilization protection, defense sets can use the extra defense), and Super Jump is the best travel power ever, so you're not sacrificing anything to meet the prerequisites for Leap Attack.

Fiery Aura/Stone Melee gives you a nice magma skin for the stone attacks. Stone's control abilities gives Fiery Aura a good survivability boost, and Fiery Aura has endurance recovery powers, which are invaluable for Stone Melee (well, Stone Melee feels very endurance heavy).

Ice Armour gets you slows and two taunt auras, so enemies are much less likely to try to run away.

Dark Armour has a lot of control, but with the stun aura you might have to chase after some of the enemies staggering drunkenly away from you.

    I don't know. Pick a concept.
  17. I have to agree with Steelclaw on this; it's hard to force yourself to play something.

I've never managed to get a scrapper or brute past level 26. Some people love them, I don't understand it. On the other hand, of my nine level 50 characters three are Stalkers, and two are tanks. I have another four tanks that I play regularly.

I haven't managed to get a mastermind or a controller past level 6.

I have a warshade at level 33 I'd really like to enjoy, but I just can't manage it. I'm considering deleting her and starting her as a peacebringer. (I've looked at the MFing warshade guide, and that just doesn't look fun to me. I don't particularly like Hasten)

I mean, I can suggest lots of builds that I found fun, but I can't say that you'll like them.
  18. I play weird concept builds. I have two toggle-less tanks. I don't turn bosses off.

I found that, at least in one first ward arc, Ambushes are triggered by reading the information on computers.

I don't want to leave Katie in the system for another 6 levels.

My character 1) Knows where Katie. 2) Knows how to get there. 3) Has attacked that building multiple times. 4) Knows how to activate and deactivate the system.

I have NO reason not to just charge the building and get her out.
  21. I really enjoyed the first ward, but because of the way it ended, I can't play the character I ran through the arcs again, not until I can do something to fix things.

I don't need to make the first ward perfect, I don't need to solve all the problems, but I need at least one more mission for Katie.
