The Amazing skateboardin' Spidey in:
"Spider-Man: The Righteous Ripping Owned Revert"
... -
So far, the only appeal I've seen coming from this movie are the actors/actresses listed in the supporting roles: Sally Field, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen and Dennis Leary.
Although all we're seeing are little snippets of photos, costumes etc, thusfar, I am not impressed with what I've seen from this movie thusfar. It seems to me that they are ruining the Peter Parker image/character.
This Spiderman movie did not need to happen; it did not need to be rebooted. -
DING! DING!
And Zombie Man wins Final Jeopardy! -
Ya know....here it is, how many issues later, and how many hundreds of forum posts, bug reports, support tickets, and discussions about this and it took one posting of this Trial for a WST slot, and FINALLY it gets attention.
To my most favorite and great team of developers and programmers that make up CoH: WHAT THE HELL TOOK YOU SO LONG TO FIGURE THIS OUT?
Thank you for the attention to this. Finally.
P.S.: Gee, I wonder if there are any other bugs/issues out there that are holding up effectual and intended performance on other SFs, TFs, Trials and missions... -

I can hear my grandfather rolling in his grave over this news.
Ok, I'm understanding what the premise here is; Superman is more than a national symbol; he belongs to the world.
OK.
So, Americans can't be citizens of the world either? Or Brits? Or Italians? Or Indians? Or Brazilians? Last I checked, when the last set of emergencies happened recently in Haiti and Japan, the world's nations responded, and thousands of emergency responders, doctors, aid workers and more helped those countries out (and continue to do so even years later); nationality was not an issue there; helping others was. How is it so different in the DC Universe that Supes has to renounce his American citizenship to do the SAME thing as any of those that recently helped in these crisis? I bet DC didn't even think of that.
In my view:
Superman has fought for truth, justice and what I would account to the mid-20th century's remdition of 'The American Way' for, what, more than 1/2 a century in our time? Now, the 'American Way' isn't good enough, eh? Did they care to 'define' what that "American Way" was, in regards to what Superman fought for? Did they just think, "well, America is disliked by most of the world today; maybe we shouldn't say 'american way' with Supes anymore; it'll upset the world", hmm? Did they once think to define WHAT facets of the "American Way" are, and maybe establish the differences in perception vs meaning? Nope, obviously too much to think about.
So he walks across the nation in the last few months of comics, trying to get 'down with the people' and realize what America is and what he's there for, so, his answer is to RENOUNCE his American citizenship now?? Uh...did I miss something in his trek across America? It would seem to me this would BOLSTER his desire to keep doing what he is doing.
When I was young, I was lucky enough to travel with my parents from one end of the US to the other, seeing New England, California and all points in between, wherein I marveled at the beauty of the land, some of the most incredible places (Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, Mississippi River, New York, et al) and people and the incredible breadth of what America was. If anything, it made me MORE proud to be an American after doing that trip. It did NOT make me want to renounce my citizenship, unlike Supes.
Even though my trip across the US doesn't related to Supes foot slog, I swear this is simply a terrible plot dynamic DC is empolying to bolster sales, rather than a logical step in Superman's existance.
Millions of people read Superman stories in their newspapers, comics, watched Saturday morning cartoons, Saturday theater matinees, movies etc, over the last 60 years, now only to be told that he no longer wants to be an American citizen or be part of America. To those that thought some things would never change, well...
*SLAP TO AMERICA'S FACE*
Take that, America! That'll teach us to use him as an icon for good; a symbol of freedom and justice that young boys and girls can or dared to emmulate to. That'll teach us to have 60+ years of showing Supes waving the American Flag every 8th issue or movie and representing iconic standards of American life.
In this age where the American media daily and consistantly destroys our real life heroes by tearing them down and cheaply denegrating them, DC destroys their one true icon of virtue, a true American symbol, right from their own house.
Way to go DC.
Hey, you got any Bald Eagles you'd like to shoot and maim while you're at it?
Globalists can decry all they want that Superman was already a citizen of the world, but let's take this to point; Superman was an American icon first. Even though he came from Krypton, over countless issues over the last 60+ years, DC had him consistantly waving the American flag with pride, respect and patriotism for America, and as the melting pot of the world, moreso than any other country in the world, America seemed the right place for an alien from another world to get a fair chance to live as normal a life as possible with the Kents and be as accepted as he was here in the US. Now, it seems America is beneath him, or simply that whatever he represented for the last 60+ years is worthless.
DC has now killed our view of what Sueprman was as an icon.
That sliver of wholesomeness that Superman was to me, as far as I'm concerned, has been destroyed just like the media has torn down many of my other real life heroes.
Way to go DC.
Put me down for NEVER buying another one of your comics.
Ever.
As it is, life will go on for all of us, with this being just another facet of our childhood memories and iconic heroes being crushed beneath the heel of insidious fameseekers and those looking to rock the boat to get better sales and make themselves look better before their (DC) bosses, and thus I am not going to spend anymore time than with this post being upset about it, but, a parting thought...
When you take something away from someone, something they hold dear to their heart, and smash it in from of them, what does DC expect?
Handshakes and smiles?
Go to Hell, DC.
That is all.

I can't speak for any other player, but I can sincerely state, for myself, that the exclusion of the Party Pack as a discounted item (should be 50% off at least) from the anniversary sale is simply dumb.
There is more than enough proof of what players thought of the Party Pack here alone in the forums, and from most of those posts, price vs content was the key element of why people didn't get it.
This is to be a celebration for 7 years of CoH...a rare event for any MMO; this alone warrants a serious party, and what would have been more fitting than a Party Pack at 1/2 price (at least)?
C'mon guys; is it really that hard to figure out?
Regardless, thank you at least for the discounted renames and server tranfers. I'm sure I'll partake in a few of these at least. -

To all the CoH devs, community relations team, producers, designers, programmers, GMs, admin, managers and anyone else I may have inadvertantly missed ....congratulations on 7 years, team!
I started in December of '06, and have not yet taken a break from this game! I've tried other MMOs, dabbled in some old pen-n-paper games now and then, and button-mashed a few console games, but all in all, this has been the one game I've stayed with since day 1 of purchase.
CoH Team, you've done an outstanding job. Keep up the great work! -
Quote:Soooo...scientists....hmmmmm....
So be sure to check out the official City of Heroes websites and forums in the next few days as scientists in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles discover and realize the imminent threat our universe will soon be facing!
This doesn't seem to have any ring of Praetorian/Warwalker zone invasions (unless that's a seperate feature for this next month that also get), so the question is, what do the scientists have to tell us? If this IS an intro to the Coming Storm storyline, what might these scientists be showing us...?
I know, I know. We'll find out Thursday and the month thereafter.
Still, curious to what will be said on this. -

You're right, and being a war veteran, it is like being caught up in a (video game) war, however, this is a task force, not the Ritki War Zone, with eight random level 40 (max) heroes/troops that are smaller in group size that an Armed Services Special Forces Team.
This is also not Incarnate content, but it sure has all the same new shiny mechanics of that content, which is being routinely utilized at Level 50+ play.
I intend to play for the fun and challenge gaged against other TFs of equitable content, not get zerged by explodo-ghouls and zone-shafted by Going Rogue 'over-the-top' game mechanics.
As such, for myself, this TF is not for me in its current state. Others may enjoy it; I'm not. To each their own.
If the devs are so set on warzones, just make one for Praetorians and get it overwith. Boomtown is an underutilized zone, and most of the map is nothing but destruction; perfect place for this. -
Did the Suffer....er...Sutter TF a couple times now, and although I'm VERy impressed with the art and maps, I am not impressed by the TF's mission dynamics.
<<<<<<<SPOILER ALERT>>>>>
Biggest irritation: last mish; two Durray AV's to fight (one CONTSTANTLY teleporting), artillery, clones, etc, on top of getting bombed when coming out of hospital. Argh.
I know there is a patch coming to fix the hospital bombing, but damn, Primal Durray was nothing short of being any annoying TPing Pain in the **** (PITA).
First run of this TF, 8 players - 1/2 team gave up when they experienced the countless waves of explodo-ghouls, other 1/2 gave up and quit at last mish due to obnoxious TPing Durray, artillery and hospital bombing; on the second team of 8, after loosing the only guy with holds (we think he DCed) on the last mish, everyone agreed it was undoable and quit.
I'm disappointed that a TF at the 20-40 level is THIS overpowered against players. I did the Mortimer Kal SF a few times and thoroughly enjoyed that one; this one, I don't think I'll ever do this TF again unless they cutback on the artillery effects and frequency, having Primal Durray only TP 1/2 as much as he does now, and the explodo-ghouls are metered out slower for players to catch a couple second's breath to rez and regroup. It's not worth the frustration and over-the-top dynamics.
The only redeeming value of this TF is the art. Damn. The ship interiors, the maps, busted-up Skyway; just...Damn. Well done, Art team!
If I don't enjoy it, it's not worth playing. Not saying I don't want the challenge, but let's gage it to something closer to 50% fun/50% challenge; not negative 10% fun/110% challenge, IMHO. -
I'd like to submit my arc for review:
Attack of the Atlantic Kingdom
Arc ID# - 481091
The Atlantic Kingdom, a ruthless undersea military dictatorship, is demanding the United Nations to recognize them as a sovereign nation - a nation that includes the entire Atlantic Ocean! To press their point, they have invaded Paragon City! Is this their plan or is there 'more' to the attack?

Glad I could help.
I haven't done much base editing of late, and memory being what it is, I'm lucky to even remember what I had for breakfast.
I have several huge bases with nearly all base components that can be purchased/crafted/earned, thus I might remember how/what to do with them once in the blue moon.
Let me or the forums know if you have any other questions; the base commuity is always helpful in this regard! -
If I'm correct, when you enter the base, you get a three button window that pops up on the screen; the top one is "Edit Base", the one under it should say something like "Add Personal Items", and 3rd I think is "Edit Base Layout" or the such.
On the middle/2nd button, "Add Personal Items", you should see the crafted crucible under there.
It's been awhile since I've done this, and am at work, so I can't verify at the moment, but try that and see if your crafted Crucible is in there. -
I was just thinking the same thing the other day of how much better it'd be to have a new mini-zone for Incarnate kickoffs.
There's some great ideas in this post to roll with here.
Personally, I like the idea of a small Vanguard-esque indoor-type zone, much like the RWZ bunker, but with a huge open middle area with several centralized dais for which league leaders can prop themselves up on to scan the crowd for team choices if needed. Along the outer edges and walls, have all the things a growing Incarnate needs for one-stop shopping: contacts for Inspirations, Market, etc; SG portal (with applicable beacon for the bases), and, as mentioned, an Ourboros-type portal that TPs from key level 50 zones such as Grandville and Peregrine Isle.
I also love the idea previously mentioned about having some NPCs distributed throughout this mini-zone able to tell some Incarnate lore, trial info/tips, etc. to those heroes/villains just starting the Incarnate path.
That, unto itself, would reduce the RWZ, Pocket D or the Mignighter Club traffic and/or group teaming/forming issues for existing content in those zones (particularly RWZ, wherein Incarnates standing around in the zone diminish the chance for MS Raid teams to be put together without having to shift to a RWZ 2, 3 or 4th iteration). -
MM - Bots/Traps: 5 runs of Lambda & BAF; 3 common rewards, 2 10 threads award (and this one was up front every single fight for each, no leaching or hanging back; all bots out firing away each time)
Stalker - DB/Ninja: 7 runs of Lambda and BAF; 1 very rare, 1 rare, 4 uncommons, 1 10 incarnate threads (first run I did, where I was clueless and dead most of the time)
Tanker - SS/Invul: 2 runs of BAF; 1 rare, 1 uncommon
Seems to me there is a MM bias for rewards.
Just another set of inputs to this post's list. -
Back in the day, I had the available cash to get two of each comic I wanted; one pair being the Simonson run with Thor. One set is secured in plastic, untouched; the other set, bent and damaged due to the dozens upon dozens of times I pulled them out and reread the series. I could not get enough of Simonson's Thor.
When my two boys were old enough for me to read comics to them, one of the sets I pulled out to read to them was Simonson's Thor.
To this day, they remember that Thor Storyline over any and all other comics (and regular books) I read to them. They would pay rapt attention to the Surtur story; wring their hands after the rainbow bridge was destroyed; laughed when Thor became the Frog of Thunder, and were entranced over Thor's journey into Hel, even so much as being sad for the Executioner and his fate.
To this day, I still have that bent and damaged set setting beside my computer desk, and STILL take them out and read them, because the stories were THAT good.
Simonson's Thor run = one of the best series Marvel ever allowed.
I think I now know one of the things to get my boys for Christmas.
EDIT: Just remembered a few year ago, when I'd told one of my boys jokingly that if they didn't get the yardwork done, I'd chain em to the lawn mower til it was done (again, jokingly said); my boy's response, "You think to collar Balder the Brave? I think not!" (A line by Balder when Karnilla was trying to manipulate Balder into being her slave for her help in aiding Asgard from Surtur). Thought that was worth mentioning. -
Oops, my bad regarding the NCSoft 'we don't care' statement, Thraxis; that was Capa Devens. Looks like I need to get better glasses and scroll up better.
Apologies.
-
I'm in the same category here.
Every other Trial I was on this last week ended up in a sound loop lock, total D/C to desktop, or the league was dropped back to homesite (aka Pocket D), teamless. Each D/C that happened, I was not able to rejoin the league after the first hotfix they did after launch (was able to the first time it happened, pre-hotfix).
One thing I'd say in regards to OP, I don't think NCSoft doesn't care, its pretty much Paragon Studios, and I know PS cares. I think the programmers and devs are working through all the info and data and trying to figure out how to fix these issues and making sure it's being done right. I don't envy them their task; the new hotness is on the street, being used by everyone and their grandmother, and they've got to figure how to fix this without screwing it up and chasing away players with multiple downtimes.
Hope they figure it out soon though. Not liking getting D/C'd from a great league just before the killing blows land on Marauder and/or Siege/Nightstar.
