  1. As unpopular as I'm sure this statement will be, the truth is:

No, I will not miss Galaxy City.

Why? The only reason I ever went to Galaxy City is during the Winter Event to get my lower level alts to open Winter Event zone presents, otherwise, badge hunt for the zone exploration badges and plaques. I'd spend maybe 10 minutes max on Galaxy on any given character.

I'm sure there are many here who will have greater and fonder memories of the zone; for that, my heart goes out to you and the loss of Galaxy City. For me, it's an 'oh well for Galaxy City; so what's this new First Ward zone?'.

R.I.P., Galaxy City. I will not miss thee.
  2. Try going for several days with no power or internet thanks to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene. We're more worried about how to feed ourselves, nonetheless game.

Loss of one day of game time seems trivial when you can't even get running water.

My 'eternal' thanks to National Grid power company for driving by our downed power lines three times in a row with their trucks and not fixing them or even slowing down to assess them. I'm sure they have power in their houses...

Now, back to our regularly scheduled server downtime discussion and player entitlement issues... (eats stale crackers in lieu of popcorn)

  3. SLAMDUNK!

Way to go Devs and Designers (and to our OCR team and Forumites for pushing the issue)!!

That's a PANCAKE-ton better that the first new iterations!

Looking forward to this is Issue 21 and beta!
  4. I'll give it a try for this month:

    Attack of the Atlantic Kingdom

    Arc # 497681

The Atlantic Kingdom, a ruthless undersea military dictatorship, is demanding the United Nations to recognize them as a sovereign nation - a nation that includes the entire Atlantic Ocean! To press their point, they have invaded Paragon City! Is this their plan or is there 'more' to the attack?
  5. Unlimited AE story slots available for purchase with Issue 21?

    WAHOOOOOOO!

*Puts funds in savings to use for CoH Freedom/Issue 21 live server publish day's rapid purchase of MANY extra AE arc slots*

    I gotz storyz to telz....
  6. I'm pretty sure the reason why the O-Portal works in the hero base and not in the villain base is due to the two different Ourboros Zones (called O-Zones for ease) for each side's alignment.

Since Ourboros isn't a co-op area, there is one zone for hero side (accessible to heroes and vigilantes) and one zone for villain side only (accesible to rogues and villains).

I'm pretty sure the designers set it up so that you CAN use the O-Portal in the bases, but I'm sure they didn't set any distinguishing code to differentiate the red-side O-Zone from the hero side's O-Zone.

And all I mentioned above is merely supposition.

TLDR; its a bug that needs to be fixed, in my opinion. Post a bug report on it.

Even though I pride myself on trying to keep in the know about what is going on with this game via Forums, social media, chats, UStreams, etc, I have to admit, this is the first I've heard that Freebies with not get rewards or XP for playing AE mission.

    Interesting.

Would be nice if the OCR maybe did a 'crazy' thing like conjoin all the week's hints and cross-media info into a (gasp) weekly summary...(hint).
  8. I was thinking much along this line myself this weekend that the AE building should be removed from Atlas Park from Issue 21 on.

Granted it's not going to be the 'first' zone a new player/character zones into, but Atlas will be the first zone a 'hero' will zone into after the Galaxy City Tutorial, wherein the player will get a greater first impression of the community.

Why do this? I don't want the vitriol and constant streaming of AE free farm, paid farm, and PL requests inundating our new player's broadcasts when most of these new players are looking more to learning the game in an environment that isn't a drudgery of AE profiteers espousing the bypassing of the content and context of what this game is about. To me, that sets a pretty negative first impression to those wanting to learn the game.

I do agree with the removal of the AE building from Atlas, but I'm not sure if a 'petition' is an allowable methodology to use here on the forums.

Best practice, in my opinion, is to set this concern to the forums as suggestion and/or discussion item, and, if so desired, send the Devs and OCR Team a PM stating why you think the AE building should be removed from Atlas, as well as provide an applicable solution (such to the extent wherein my solution would be to allow the one existing in King's Row to take up the reigns of the AE Building low-level center of farming and PLing, since it'll be the easiest-accessible AE building a new character will be able to get to if the AE building in Atlas goes away).

Do I agree with the AE Building's removal from Atlas? Yes.
Do I agree to petition it here on the forums? No.
  9. Finally got around to editing some of the images for the summer bash!

    Here's two of them:

I have others under the following links:

    Heroes: 9 July

Photo Gallery from the Exalted SG website

    Villains: 10 July

Photo Gallery from Dark Overlords SG website

If anyone has any trouble seeing these, let me know; I can send via PMs or email if you like.
  10. Just wanted to state what a fantastic job PERC did this weekend!

R-Tech, Ska-, Taxibots and others in the crew rotated the events through with a nice, even flow, even when several Chonos Titans attacked us on Saturday in Talos Island after the foot race, and a zombie apocalypse dropped on us in Cap on Sunday after the Virgil Tarikoss SF completion.

The prizes were magnificent, the positive upbeat and event demeanor was intoxicating, and Paragon Broadcast Services (PBS) radio show on Saturday, courtesy of DJ Foxxy, capped off the whole weekend event.

I truly enjoyed the teaming, fun and energy of all that participated. Running around in swim wear taking out Chronos Titans and AVs in SFs made it all the more memorable.

I'll be posting some links to our SG and VG website's photo galleries that will have some great shots of the swimsuit-clad activities of this event later on this week.

To R-Tech and the crew...thank you for all you did. Major Kudos!

And congrats to all the prize winners! Well done!
  11. OV, I am THOROUGHLY impressed with your music!

I'll be placing a widget from your music site onto the Majordeej Universe website(s) to draw more attention to your incredible and exceptional music!

As for new music inputs, since the 'First Ward' zone is soon to be out in Issue 21, what would be your musical interpretation of this failed Cole area now overun with Devouring Earth?
  12. The GR soundtrack was awesome. The first set of music for entering Atlas Park after you've made your character - awesome.

The rest, including login music, zone music, etc does need an update. This is the perfect time for that (plus, think of it, Black Pebble, another soundtrack to sell via marketing...$$$...)

And btw, Voice, fantastic job on your music! Well done!
  13. Sounds like a fantastic set of events!

I'll be there with Samhain Knight for heroes and Mad Halloween Jack for villains (he needs those SFs!).
  14. Had same issue on Virtue with a Lambda Trial last night; D/C'd midway through, was able to reboot quickly, got in, clicked on 'rejoin' and it dumped me back to default LFG screen, sans team/league.

    *Unhappy camper*
  15. I want to express how impressed I was by the CC in the Monkey Fight Club on Monday.

The trivia (and prizes) filled the time while the judges made their walkarounds and made their choices. I even won one of the trivia questions (Rogue Rontgen)! My Inf poor villain now haz funds!

All who won the CC prizes had fantastic costumes and were most deserving of their rewards.

I'm looking forward to the next CC!

    Keep up the great work!
  16. Was on a team last night that completed KIR; what a run!

My tanker died once, and the leader (sorry, terrible with remembering names) did a fantastic job of leading us through the phases.

It was dynamic, intense and chock full of the feel that at any moment, from start to finish, we could fail this thing simply due to the mechanics of the trial (not from the leadership or team's abilities), yet the team did a great job and we got to the end and got our badge and an uncommon choice.

I'm sure with time, we'll have this trial's mechanics mastered to the point we do with the other two trials, but I gotta admit, the 'pucker' factor on this one made it interesting.

Also a great source of iXP.

I'm not a huge fan of the trials, but I think this one rates a positive rating.
  17. I do story arcs every day.

If I feel like teaming, I'll send out broadcasts, recruit via the global channels, etc. If I get a team; great. If no one replies, I don't start writing forum posts about it. I move along and play em until the next mish, then send out broadcasts, global channel invites, etc and rinse and repeat for each following mish til I have a team.

My intention is that IF I want to team, I'll form a team if I see none starting up; IF I don't want to team, I go on hide (I may have a busy home schedule, requiring me to get up and afk a lot in one session/evening, ergo, I'll shift to hide mode so I don't waste anyone's time but my own).

With Issue 21/CoH:Freedom coming out, I'm not worried about teaming; I'm sure I'm going to have many hundreds to choose from and amongst.

P.S. - Also, the two locations you mentioned, Justice-blueside and Infinity-redside are not the highest volumes of team players of late. If you're looking for more folks to team with, I'd suggest Union, Freedom or Virtue.
  18. Once again, Major Kudos, DR!

...still can't get that music outta my head...or the chill down my spine...
  19. Looks like I'm going to be rerolling all my copies of Chrononauts on all the servers....sigh...almost got one to level 42.
  20. Incredible! I have never wanted to see a Marvel movie so bad as I want to see this one! The wait will be painful, but the viewing, from what I've preceived from this trailer, will be nothing but pure heroic win.
  21. 'Major' Gratz on triple XP life leveling!!!

It's good to hear such fantastic news like this in our community. With the economy etc being what it is and gloom and doom hither and yon, it's good to know some folks are on a positive roll in all of this!

My congratualtions on the house, the wife and the new bundle of life!

    Redside Power

Some of the posts on these forums that state 'red side is dead' are key reasons WHY red side is dead. You get those that stealth the forums and see 2-4 posts a week of 'red is dead' and they start thinking 'hmmm...maybe they're right...I might want to go shift alignment blueside with my villains so I can have more folks to play with'.

This is the same issue with the 'build of the week' posts in the Archtype sections; 'go shields, it's better now'; or, 'tried fire/fire tank for first time in 3 years; everyone should do this build!', and then everyone reading these forums posts figure that whatever is posted is the flow of the game and (a fair share) sheepishly follow it.

My input is simply this; the game is what you make it.

You like villains? Good, play villains. Not seeing a lot of villains wandering the streets and want more villains around you? Find a way to GET the villains out and about.
    • Host a unique redside event
    • Host a redside multimillion Inf prize Costume Contest (when was the last time you saw that?) with forum posts telling everyone about it
    • host a holiday event with the Cape Radio (et al) covering the action with the DJ's avatars hanging out redside
    • subscribe to a new applicable global channel and post that you are forming redside teams, badge hunts, GM hunts, etc on there
    • recruit more for teaming or for the VG; send out 'LFM' broadcasts instead of waiting for them to magically appear
    • encourage other 'vigilantes' and 'rogues' to do something redside that'll earn them a badge, an accolade, tip missions, etc.
I hosted an SG event wherein a dozen or so of our heroes in the SG went 'rogue' (villain) and would work our way back to hero alignment; as such, we started a new VG, ran tip missions, SFs, etc for a couple months, and 1/2 of them stayed villain because they'd never gone redside before and discovered they liked it (a couple went Rogue)!

We all want to go where the action is; no qualms there. The issue is, does one continue to perpetuate the problem by stating 'red is dead', or instead, be a bit more dynamic and be part of the solution and bring the 'action' to redside?

Aside from of the suggestions above, positive comments here in the forums about redside can have an impact just as strongly as 'red is dead' posts.

It seems the OP is on the right track with redside; the question is, how do we, as a community, get people excited to go (and more importantly, stay) redside?

    Just my 2 Inf(amy).
  23. As tough as it was, being an X-Men fan from the '70s, I went to see the movie...taking the advice of others in these forums to simply 'just ignore whatever doesn't fit and go on with my life'.

With that mentality, the film was good. I enjoyed the movie's flow and it's underlying theme of "mutant, and proud of it". It kept moving, was entertaining, and had enough of a hook for some characters to actually make you want to see how said characters would develop in the move (Mystique/Raven, and Magneto/Erik, for example).

In regards to Shaw, I think they could've done more with him; he seemed a bit 2-dimensional. I know Kevin Bacon isn't an A-list actor and they were scripting to his strengths, but I think he could've put off a more air of villany and emotion in the non-WWII parts of the movie.

As has been said, before you go to see this movie, drop your premise of continuity and lore, whether comic or movie canon, and simply enjoy it as it seemed to be made; another great Hollywood tale of the X-Men that unfortunately doesn't have the legs for Marvel's canon or legacy. You'll enjoy the movie a lot more.

Personally, deep down, I am disappointed that canon and lore were tossed out the window, with only the basic idealizations of a a mish-mosh of the X-Men and mutants (some only seen in the comics in the late 90s to early 00s) representing the iconic first step of Xavier's X-Men, but, Hollywood, in its usual 'creative' way, continues to produce the X-characters as merely play-things to contrive their own movie and plot around, allowing the vaguest version of original X-Men continuity (movie or comics) and lore to have any form of premise (i.e., yes, Xavier and Magneto were friends before enemies; yes, the modified Blackbird was the original X-Plane; yes, Xavier had ties to the CIA back in the day; yes, Beast's furry image was a result of Hank trying to modify the X-Gene for his purposes; all the rest is Hollywood).

TLDR version: As others have said, go into the movie with X-Men lore and continuity tossed out the window and simply enjoy this unique nature of this X-Men tale.

    Thank you for the time...
Muchas Gracias, Tymers! That's what I get for posting after chatting online and getting bad info...I should have read the previous posts.

Still not liking most of the characters and costumes (or lack thereof *cough* Superboy *cough*) I'm seeing them in, but,...I guess we'll see where this goes.

    Thanks for the correction!
