  1. I just don't know what to tell someone who takes Bone Smasher at level 41

    /edit
Here are some things that I think make a good Ex2 blaster, considering your previous travel power picks etc...:

    Hero Profile:
    ------------
    Level 1: Power Bolt
    Level 1: Power Thrust
    Level 2: Power Blast
    Level 4: Build Up
    Level 6: Power Burst
    Level 8: Swift
    Level 10: Bone Smasher
    Level 12: Hasten
    Level 14: Aim
    Level 16: Super Speed
    Level 18: Hurdle
    Level 20: Stamina
    Level 22: [Empty]
    Level 24: [Empty]
    Level 26: [Empty]
    Level 28: [Empty]
    Level 30: [Empty]
    Level 32: Nova
    Level 35: Stun
    Level 38: Total Focus
    Level 41: [Empty]
    Level 44: [Empty]
    Level 47: [Empty]
    Level 49: [Empty]

Put whatever you like in the empty spots, but here is my reasoning for the powers I did choose:
Power Bolt/Blast/Burst -- the ST blast core
Bone Smasher -- fanfrickintastic melee attack with good chance to stun
Stun + Total Focus (+ Bone Smasher) -- Boss stunning
Aim + Buildup -- I see taking these ASAP as almost mandatory for a good Energy blaster
  2. ooo that sounds kind of fun; are those very expensive IOs?

Think about it; Double Short Circuit drain at the start of every fight, Fort (and later AB) on each of you. Alternate your Recovery and Regen Auras. Two AoEs each, 2 Sparkies (if your into a pet). Would be a powerful Duo.
Of if you like blasters, you could get the same joy by using an Elec/Elec blaster yourself teamed with the Emp/Elec defender.

I have one of each stashed on a couple of characters, will probably go that route.

Ahhhhh ok i didn't understand how that worked. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the replies.

This is indeed for Dark Armor, so no -KB power available. She is an old build (Majek, my original toon, stalled at level 44) and has Acrobatics for -KB. I want to free up the power pick so was looking at ways to use Karmas rather than Acrobatics.

Regarding Parry... as a low damage attack I only use it for its +Def side effect ... it is currently two-slotted for accuracy and I was considering adding a slot for a Karma.

I'd like to be able to Exemplar to most any level and have good -KB so CJ and Parry are on my short list for Karma -KBs.

Not sure what that is, probably would require I level up a villain past 12 though hm?

    /edit
OH, the vanguard merit broadsword... That's just a costume bit to augment those that come with the BS power set isn't it?
  8. Hey all, couple of questions about the Karma -KB...

    1) Is there any point to having a Karma -KB in two different powers? i.e. does the mag 4 protection double to mag 8?

    2) Would a Karma -KB work properly in Broadsword's Parry attack, or would it only be "on" when in the act of parrying?

    3) If I slot a Karma -KB in something like Combat Jumping does CJ have to be active for the Karma to do its thing?
  9. OK seriously...

    Darth Vader

I don't see a way to do anything with melee weapons to represent a light sabre. I've actually created a tongue-in-cheek Anakin (pre-fall from grace) as a Dark Miasma/Electric Blast Defender.

I've also considered going with Gravity Control for the levitate/flinging of objects.

Would be cool to have a power to repel enemies with the wave of a hand too... mental manipulation has one i suppose. Hrm.

Cool, I figured you couldn't have two, nice to know.

Even with bosses. I immob then, fluffy can hit a few with the tentacles and I'll hit the mob with fearsome stare. I'll lay a patch first, because when you miss bosses with fearsome stare then will charge you and then it's too late. I have superspeed for maneuvering around the patch because they will attempt to run off.
I have a 50 Dark/Sonic, my favorite character to have leveled up, great fun. She went with Super Speed as well, works great with Shadow Fall too.

but if you have hover then you can hover over the patch and the baddies can melee, but they will shoot at you.
I'll consider that... I just have the temp travel powers from bank missions right now so still open.

  12. Hm, dunno but I just did and I'm hoping your prediction/suggestion/wish is true

    Dark/Elec/????

I'm leveling one of these right now, 17 at the moment... brings a question:

Can I run both pets at once? I wasn't planning on taking Voltaic Sentinel, but it would be kind of fun to have both it and Fluffy running around, maybe? Or does one pet dispel the other?
  14. Has anyone tried something like "shift+scrollwheel_up/down" for target next/previous?
  15. Let's see how you people would build these costumed characters:

    Word Girl
    The Butcher
    Lady Redundant Woman
Chuck the Evil Sandwich Making Guy

(Yes I have kids who enjoy PBS)
  16. I like /Sonic with my Dark/ , counter to the multiple calls for D3.

My Trick Arrow/ is very laid back too, forgot about that one.

How is this a problem? I'd swear that years ago the idea of attacks with weapon redraw were taking more time than if already drawn was debunked. Is mad cow finally taking its toll on my poor old brain?
  18. Majek

    DB & AVs?

    Wow you guys are geeks.

  19. Nihilii, thanks much for that information! I started the character late last night and enjoyed the first 5 levels, can't wait for more combos! I need to look up the chain I need for Attack Vitals...
I wasn't planning on going with Hasten, but was planning on taking Tough; hadn't really planned my high level powers yet. I'm pretty shocked at how much endurance I'm using at level 5... good thing /Elec has powers to help with that because if it stays like this I don't know if Stamina alone is going to be enough.
As I said, really enjoying the choppity-chop; this is the first character in a long time that has me excited enough to want to take a sick day
  20. Hey Scrappers,

I have been considering this combo but don't have much of a feel for either power set. If you have a build you like for soloing/small teams, chime in and tell me what you like/dislike about the combo if you will!

(I'm not huge into IO sets, mostly just frankenslotting my characters.)

    Thanks!
  21. What's the biggest reason people (OP in particular) want to see the human form strengthened?

I am likely in the minority, but mine is purely style points. I simply do not want to flip flop around between my desired human costume and some fugly squid or lumbering dung beetle.

So give me power customization options something like :
    Bright Nova changes form to {Squid, Ball of Light, Human with Aura}
    and i'll be satisfied.

Yes when I solo I would prefer to do more damage in human form... i don't find switching to and from the other forms to be a smooth enough mechanic to be much fun when solo. But I do like the squid damage increase when on teams where I don't have to worry about my bright form weaknesses.

So yeah, i guess I agree with the OP regarding Human form being buffed for damage output, but, this desire mainly stems from the fact that I don't want to float around looking like a flying Coral Polyp to do decent damage.
  22. I like OG but I'm not sure I'd like it nearly as much if I wasn't a Dark/Sonic. With Dark I have Howling Twilight for an AoE stun to stack with OG for >minion abuse. I also have Tar Patch for -speed to keep those staggering stunned drunks from speed-shuffling out of my range so quickly.

That's my least favorite aspect of OG and AoE stuns in general... they scatter the group if there isn't a slow/immob laid down.

Oh and /Sonic has Screech so I get to stack that with either Howling Twilight or OG for boss stuns
  23. I'd never skip either of the first two attacks in a blaster primary... they're great for building defiance, attack chain fillers, and for the times when you get mez'd, especially when your tier 1 secondary is a KB power that's going to biff your melee target out of range while you're mez'd.

That's RIGHT, Obsidian Shield doesn't have any -KB like a lot of other secondaries. Grrr.

On my Energy/Energy/Elec, I skipped explosive blast thinking it was pooo, but I did a respec at 44 or so to focus on :
    Static Discharge
    Energy Torrent
    Explosive Blast

That's some fun stuff; it isn't hard to control the KB... just slam them against a wall or from the top.
