  1. I'm currently rolling with a Rad/GreenFire blaster.

So far the combo seems pretty potent. Looking forward to slotting up Electron Haze a little more.

I'm kinda surprised how well the synergy seems. Kinda feels like a radiation secondary with the color change. Not counting the swords. I so wish they'd given us the option to turn the swords into pom poms...

I'm curious to see how effective Irradiate is going to be for debuffing purposes now.

    COH Mythbusters

That the paladin construction wouldn't spawn if you camped one of the sites...

    what's new

Today would be the launch of Issue 16.

Most everyone is going to be huddled together inside Icon fiddling with the new power options.

Everyone else will be inside missions testing their limits.

Teaming should resume its normal schedule sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Welcome back!! The city has never been better!
  4. With the new Difficulty settings you won't need anyone else to spawn them, just make sure your set to have bosses in mission.

You can find Carnies redside from 30 on I think, easiest way I know is to just find a paper mission with one inside. Then just let her keep spawning her pets, kill them but never hurt her, as long as she's alive she'll keep popping out the phantoms.
  5. The only new one I noticed was Ulterior. I vaguely recall that being added a while back though. Just haven't created/updated a toon since then.

So since we've established that these sets have been out before Issue 16 where there any new additions?
  6. I too have trouble getting into tankers for the OP's reasons.
I'm pretty sure I know why though.

My 1st toon ever was an Energy/Energy blaster. Got him up to level 18 before getting tired of running outta endurance.

My 2nd toon ever was a Dark Melee/Regen Scrapper. Boy could this guy cook!

My 3rd toon ever was an Inv/SS Tank. He made it to level 6...

What killed it for me was the lack of damage. I know it's just the law of perception. Having played blasters and scrappers I was used to minions dropping in two hits from level 1 on. With the tank I was swinging away for what seemed like an eternity doing piddly damage. Which wouldn't have been so bad if I could have actually taken damage. I think it was the time I ran up to 2 +1 minions and started attacking, only to be killed before I got the 1st one down that shelved him (I was so in love with the concept and bio that I still have him, still level 6 after 4+years, just couldn't bring myself to delete him.)

Needless to say I went back to Blasters and never looked back. I have to think on my feet, be wary of strategy and such to survive but the massive damage allows me to feel 'Super'

When AE launched I rolled up a WP/SS and allowed him to be PL'd to 22 thinking SO's would make up the damage and survivability issues. They didn't. He was quickly deleted due to my shame in having PL'd and because he still felt squishier than my blasters...
  7. Biggest shock I got playing today?

I went to the AE building in Atlas just to make sure none of my arcs had become invalid. I hesistated because of the wall of lag I normally get when I'm close to that wretched building. I zone in and.....

    Empty??!?!?!

I was the only hero in the Atlas park AE building at 2pm central!!

Of course, everyones more than likely clustered in icon or busy rolling through radios to try the new settings. Still, it was a nice surprise!
  8. You see a tall statue and instantly think you should sit on its head.

You open the newspaper and expect to be called out by some punk.

Actually develop a theory on what happened to all the children in Paragon/Rogue isles.

You hear Hiro call Daphne 'Nemesis' and start to think she's an automaton.

You walk into a pool expecting it to be just up to your shins.

You hear the word tank and don't picture a big war machine.

You hear the word controller and don't think of a remote.
  9. The 5th in Steel are new.

I only had 2 hours to play before coming to work.

    I made a Radiation/Fire blaster. Sgt. Toxic
Matched the color of fire to the radiation green and must say I'm really impressed. Such a little change goes a long way towards making a toon more playable.
Ring of fire really looked like it was intense radiation holding them. I was afraid I wouldn't roll up a Rad toon without a matching secondary. I really just rolled him up to check out the update.
Once I saw what it'd look like having both primary and secondary colored the same I realized I 'do' have a radiation secondary!

So then I logged on my level 40 MM.
I cruised over to the Fate Weaver and was glad to see the new system is easy to comprehend. I set my levels to be treated like a 4 man team with enemies +1 to me with bosses and Heroes.
I clicked on a freakshow paper mish and went to town.

It was wonderful!! This MM has gone solo his entire career and wanted to feel challenged like this since level 20!
I had large groups of freaks, with bosses in every mob. My zombies ate so much they'll be spitting up chunks of metal and wires for days!
My debuffs actually felt important for once as well.

When I get home I'm planning on cranking it up to 8 man setting and see if I can handle it.
  10. Mine was an evolution of sorts.

    For the past decade I've had a character designed that I called simply;
    Maestro.

He was the master of reality. Maestro of the 3rd dimension.

Needless to say he was the 1st toon I created. Got all the way to the naming screen and then found out the name wasn't valid...

So I resigned to name him Maestro Mavius after the Roman name I'd been given by a professor during a mythology course.

Mavius has since become my identity in most forums and other games I play.

I still recall how ruthless I was when I 1st encountered the AV Maestro.
I was sure he was the reason I couldn't be just Maestro!!

    Forum titles

I used to have the link to the list of forum titles saved.
Can't seem to find it now though.
    My search-fu turned up nada.

Anyone know where I can find this list? Just curious how long I'll be
    'Super-Powered'
  12. I had the same impression the 1st time I used it.
I was expecting it to bring up a target reticle like the rain powers use.
I'd heard it could be used from around corners so I was going to try doing just that.

I clicked the power and nothing happened...

I targeted a baddie in the middle of a group and clicked it again...

What tha! Was that a snipe??

Hmmm, not how I thought this power would work/look.

Takes some getting used to. Seeing as how my Eng/Eng used Nova all the time (thanks to conserve power and a blue) I'm hopeful more slots will make this power actually do some damage.

I think Nova (with its KB) and Inferno (with its DOT) are the only nukes that are really useful right outta the box.
Blizzard and Thunderous left me feeling 'meh' at level 32.
  13. My to do list is much easier.

I've staked out a good little spot on a building overlooking Icon in Steel.
I'm gonna grab some popcorn and watch the chaos as heroes come filing in by the hundreds. Most of them spamming auras naturally. Poor Serge, if I was him I'd call in sick this week!

After that gets old I plan on jumping over to the Isles and trying out the new diff. slider with my MM!
  14. When I first started playing this game I used to bob and weave thinking it'd make the attacks miss.

The 1st few nights I played, my blaster would be dodging incoming attacks left and right, sometimes I'd get hit, others I'd seem to strafe just in time.
Needless to say I thought this was how it worked.
Then I took a mission and was doing the same. I saw an incoming blast heading my way and ducked behind a corner.
To my shock the bolt started to arc towards me and then came phasing through the wall to smack me upside the head.

My 1st thought was "Whoa! this guy has homing missles!"

Then I slowly realized it wasn't just his attack, it was all of them. They were locked on and unable to be shook off no matter what. It was only my impression that I was able to dodge.

I also expected to be able to 'run and gun' in this game but was saddened to find out you couldn't.
Still on my blaster, I've had a few rare occasions were I won't be rooted during an attack. Nothing is as cool as chasing down a runner and clicking your attack only to keep on trucking while it fires away!
  15. On my Necro/Dark I hate running into anything with Fire.
    Longbow Flamethrowers and the like.
I can take on a huge crowd of mobs without issue... Unless one of em launches a fire attack, then my cadre of cannibals run like babies.

On my Blasters its usually anything with Mez, I end up targetting them 1st out of habit.

    I also dislike.
Sky Raider Engineers (stupid FF gen)
    Tsoo Sorcerors (on anything melee)
    Vanguard Wizards
  16. **Uses Absorb Pain on Posi**

I've got a breakfree handy if ya need it!
  17. MaestroMavius

    Hero Mash-Up

    Gob-Clops

    Goblin and Cyclops
  18. I'd prefer a 5th power be added to all the travel pools.

Supersonic Burst - Click power 60 seconds capped flight speed

Vertical ascension - Click power allowing SS to travel up walls

Ground Pound - Click power that makes SJers land with a damage AOE
(for when you know you about to land in a bad spot.)

Phased Teleporting - Click power allowing for teleportation through buildings or walls/obstructions.

I'd enjoy a 5th ultimate power in the travel pools rather than 1 new pool.
    Just my opinion though.
  19. yeah, that was a typo. Meant to say *increased.
I remember when debt was scaled back for instanced missions.
Though debt is just a joke nowadays anyways.

Even more so with Patrol XP...
  20. Maybe if they removed the increase in debt for dying outdoors more people would sweep.
  21. Korith has me stumped.

Is their a bug in that pic? If not, where on Earth/Paragon is that map?
  22. The well of the furies actually granted them the same powers.
It was their distinct personalities that fueled how it reacted within them.

Stefan was simply tired of living in Cole's shadow. He'd been through too much and was unwilling to admit he was wrong about.... well, everything.

It was the subsequent abandonment, killing of his comrade and floating in isolation as the 'Power' was absorbed that turned Richter into a hideous monster.

The other end of the spectrum was Cole. Even though he wasn't the most up standing citizen around he still had an underlying morality that Richter obviously lacked. This made his transformation more solid and well rounded.

At least, thats my take on it from reading Web of Arachnos.
  23. With COH being the only MMO I've ever played I can't really relate to spawn camping.

Back in the day I used to sit on a specific rooftop waiting for the Paladin construction to begin.
This was back when people would complain that it wouldn't spawn if someone was close by. Even though that was proven wrong, the sentiment of Anti-Camping in this game was strong.
  24. Unless we ever get the ability to use cutscenes this sounds like the best alternative.

I've often wished we had the option to turn off Boss agro so they don't auto attack when you get close.

How many comics have the Hero enter the room and just start wailing on the guy? Usually you have some interaction. The boss delivers his monologue and then the hero retorts before the fight actually begins.

When making my Arch Nemesis missions I've wanted to be able to control how the boss reacts.

Set it for attack only when attacked. That way you could walk right up to them and have em just keep talking until the text was finished, then have the fight begin.

Alternatively I'd want a setting of 'finish talking then run for the hills' so I could have guys pleading for their lives, then when its apparent I'm not backing down, I.E. I attack them, they just panic and run....

    Anyways, back to the OP.
Personally, even though my system pretty much locks up for 10 minutes if I try to Alt-tab I'd do it just to see what it was.
Unfortunately, I think it'd break any immersion I had going.
