This is since the change to toggle dropping, of course.
Defensive toggles don't drop, they suppress these days. While supressed they stay toggled, but give no benefit. Offensive toggles though do drop, so anything that affects the enemies will have to be turned back on.
  2. Since I run ninja masterminds, I'd say it's a Good Thing pets are going into melee. My bruiser also learned how to enter melee instead of just Chuck Rock. The rest of the thugs are no more or less suicidal then they had been. Curse you Arsonist trying to punch the rikti swordsman boss!
  3. Hmm, for Batman I'd say what would work best is MA/SR/Gadgets (With more gadgets for travel power and power pools). Close, but not quite. Too few punches. And not brutal enough.

Robin will have to be broken down into three listings.
Grason-MA/SR/Gadgets same as Batman but make sure to take the Jumping pool for kick attack, combat jumping, and acrobatics.
Todd-SS/Willpower maybe. He dodged, but was more likely to take the hit as I recall. Also was more of a street fighter then martial artist.
    Drake-Staff/SR/Gadgets.

By the way... when will we get staffs?

So, when fighting an AV/GM you feel you can't contribute cause they can quickly kill your henchmen? What about your secondary? AV fights are suppose to be tough. They are suppose to require everything your party can scrape together. And the newer ones do a better job of that IMO.

If your a X/Poison for instance, your secondary is very valuable. Aside from a spammable -regen power, you get something that's rather rare. You get -buff. Nuking the ability of Romulous to be healed for instance can be a very big thing. Then slap your debuffs on the nicuts mayhaps. Now you not only nuked Romulous's ability to be healed, but the nictus ability to heal others. Does the AV have def or resist buffs? You'll have nuked it's ability to buff it's self with those powers. That's before def debuff enters play mind you. It's things like this that are why /poison is so freaking nasty in PvP. And an AV killer.

I think MMs start out the way it was intended but as the content gets much harder and at the rate that your pets are dying at higher level, MM becomes very "frustrating" to play. Maybe some people like to keep resummoning and contribute very little to a very important fight, but I don't enjoy it.

My experience of lvl 50 Merc/Storm VS 50 Merc/Poison is that /Poison is one of the weakest secondaries for MM. It excels in single debuffs but lacks literally everything else to protect 6 pets. /Poison is fine when you solo but so is /Storm. I don't want to get into why I feel /Poison sucks. I just feel in general, when you start to include a lot of set bonuses and now Alpha slots, MMs' potential seems to drop greatly.

I feel I may need to play my old MMs more to feel their worth but doing BSF last night as the only MM Necro/Pain is terrible. I usually do very well in "regular" contents but man...that SF makes me realize how frustrating it is when things get really bad...all those AoE damage.
I've not really ran into the whole "my henchmen keep dying constantly" problem. Well I have, but only when the team was 6 levels above me, doing their missions, and refusing to SK me. +3 or +4 isn't much of a danger. Yeah with some primary/secondary combos you end up resummoning one or two hench now and then. But outside of a EB/AV/GM fight it's not too bad. And some primaries synergize really well together. Was on a team with 5 other thug masterminds on my thug/ta MM for instance during a zombie horde event. Not one pet died. And thanks to all of us running maneuvers ourselves, we couldn't really be hit either.

Or (after watching the clip) he had some mechanical device on his wrist which did it, as well as cutting into a metal van. If a gun was flimsy enough to bend with human strength, I imagine it wouldn't be able to fire very effectively. Would probably be damaged with every shot.

It also means that a huge portion of the enhancement system is lost to MMs. The attack chain starts to flatten out because the attack rate of the pets are capped.

Note that this isn't exactly a bad thing since the AI is so screwy that having too much recharge might just make all of your pets run into brawl range. Not that they don't do that now...
This was a simi-nerf and partial buff. They removed henchmen being affected by recharge buffs/debuffs because of their screwy AI. With too much recharge they were doing stupid things, like spamming one ability over and over. Say Hurl on the thug bruiser, or brawl on bots. Apparently, it's also why ninja hench would get stuck in "throwing star only" mode. The first tier throwing star recharged so fast it was constantly ready. They'd tried for a few years to fix it another way, but this is what worked. On the up side, they ignore -recharge too.

So to recap, too much +recharge was gimping Mastermind damage cause a power like brawl would be spammed. It would seem that henchmen AI is set to cycle through abilities in order of what is recharged, and usable at the current range. If power X is recharged when nothing else is, the henchman moves into position to use it. Then if power X recharges before too fast it's spammed over and over.

One thing I do when soloing... I actually RP it. I banter with the badguys all the time. Such as if I'm playing Madam Enigma, and some goomba says "You'll never take me alive"... She tends to respond with something along the lines of "Well duh, that's the plan." Was running the new ish 19 arc for the 20's villain side, and in the final mission I was bantering with the enemy every time they opened their mouths. That char isn't truly a villain (and is well on the way to becoming a rogue). So wasn't actively seeking more power. Rather, the guy telling me about this 'awesome power' alarmed me, and I was looking into it to prevent someone more dangerous from getting it. And getting really concerned about the Legacy Chain's plans for the power.

Bats bending a gun? Citation please, he's got human levels of strength, not superhuman.

Tell that to my TA/A defender. I've pealed aggro off seven tankers at once, after letting them go in first to draw everything's hate. Tankers went in, taunted/taunt aura'd everything, I unleashed my round of debuffs... Then everything turned as one to shoot me. Ouch.

The item doesn't make him an incarnate. He already was one, abit a tainted incarnate. Thus he can't personally use the item.

Soloed Trapdoor on a claw/sr scrapper yesterday. Using just whatever insps I had on hand, and my innate powers failed. Usually works fine for Elite Bosses, this time failed. Came back and popped 18 red insps, took him down before he got his 3rd clone out.

When I went to shut down I got an error stating there was a process stopping the shutdown, but it closed it out after about 10 seconds. My guess is the game is leaving a hung process so if anyone still has the issue and has good tech skills they could probably identify it, or for the less technical minded... just reboot and if hangs tell the computer to shutdown anyway.
Wouldn't opening task manager with CoH's launcher open and closing it and the entire process tree work then?
  14. It's not even redoing the patch for me. Heck, not DLing a patch to begin with. Any way to force that? It says I'm up do date still after the resub and patching on Thursday.

Go to your Start menu and type “cmd” (without the quotes) in the Run box to start the command prompt.
Type “ipconfig /flushdns” (again, no quotes) at the prompt and press return.
    Close the window.
I too am locked out with the same message. Happens on all servers. And Tommy, tried this and got the message of "the requested operation requires elevation" whatever that means.

Um, let's see. Mothership raid? No.. Hamidon? no.. Cathedral of Pain? No..

Unless you're talking about GMs, I can't fathom what you're referring to, and ... I'm sorry, but GMs are 'a beefy target' not 'content'.
I've heard of scrappers soloing pilons. And there were controllers and defenders soloing giant monsters for ages. I saw a dark/dark defender solo Lucia for example in issue 4, a GM which usually required 3 to 4 teams to beat... with a lot of dying and teleporting back to the fight from the hospital.
  17. Was trying to figure out if it's possible. Any elite boss is suppose to be soloable for the right build (scrappers solo rather well). Some are much harder of course. That, and no one seemed to be around.
  18. Spent a good half hour trying to fight him. Wasn't sure if reds would work on my claw/sr scrapper. Ate uhm... 4 and a half rows of them before taking him on.
  19. Not sure where else to ask this. Is the second door mission of the Alpha Slot arc even soloable? If so, how? I can beat down on Trapdoor no problem. Then he does his "create a clone" thing, and starts regenerating. Once he has 3 out, I can't dent his health any more, even with him in lava. But if I go after the clones, he heals to full anyway. Any advice for a soloist?
  20. It would give you an aoe taunt toggle. Debuffs seem to generate a lot of hate.
  21. They might be useful on a tanker.
  22. Did you rotate who you pound on? Anymore it usually tanks a tanker to pull stuff off my ice/mace tanker. And I don't have taunt yet. But then, with each attack I am punchvoking 5 different foes. Sometimes a blaster will start to pull something off me, then it realizes I just smashed a warmace into a friend and turns around to face me.
  23. Let that be a lesson then. Relying only on the taunt aura means others can peal aggro off you.

I don't have much problems yet, but then I alternate targets with each attack while teamed. I work punchvoke.
  24. Imagine my surprise when I was teamed with seven tanks while on a TA/A defender. And I kept pealing aggro off them when they go in first.
