I have a question about the intrinsic Domination power that I can't seem to find the answer to elsewhere. I'm a new Dom player, so try not to give too much grief as I'm sure this is obvious to all the vet Doms out there. What all exactly builds the Domination bar?, and how (by what mechanic/criteria) Is it attacks? Successful hits? Number attacked? Number hit?
I guess I'm asking... Is an AOE much better for building the Dom bar, or can a single target attack build it just as fast?
Any and all insight in to how this mechanic works is appreciated. And, any and all suggestions about it, well, I'll read them.
Thanks all in advance. Hope to soon be out there with you all Dom-ing it up. -
I know this is not the forum for that in general, but I was specifically looking for something completely different (Monty Python vague reference not intentional) but regardless, I'd be interested in hearing slotting suggestions for DP, as I have an AR/MM Blaster who recently hit the fun levels..
-
I can't confirm this (I don't play AE much, so I don't have the tickets), but I've just been told that the AE Gold Recipe Roll can be set for a specific lower level.
I was under the impression that the AE Gold Role worked the same exact way as the Merit Rare Recipe Roll, and checks the exact table.
If it does check the same table, but the level can be chosen, well, that seems like at least a partial problem-solver, assuming people stay in the AE building at all.
Of course, I usually take info I hear and can't confirm with a grain of salt, so I'm throwing this claim also out there not to spread the rumor, but to see what the larger pool of folks here says about it.
Eventually, I'll verify it, and post what I find, if it looks like nobody knows for sure. -
Similar to what someone else suggested..
How about a secondary market? Maybe lower the bid caps on the existing one,and raise or remove the caps on the other, but place the other in, say, Cimerora, where mostly only high level alts will be selling. That would mean one market may be a better sellers' market for low level items, and one a better sellers' market for high level drop types.
Of course, some people would shuttle back and forth between the two, but without a Base TP beacon to Cimerora that would still be somewhat prohibitive.
I'll admit up front that I'm not sure this is a good idea, just throwing out an idea. It would allow some choice, and some market competition.
You could even decide to have 2 markets in Cimerora, one for villains and one for heroes, or link them there, but not elsewhere.
Just thinking out loud, and I'd to hear the feedback on this. -

Quote:Wow, well said!In any case, the use of buff-bots is not an Exploit with a capital-E, in the sense that it is an actionable violation of the rules of the game. However, it is an exploitive with a lower-e use of the mission design system. I know the devs knew about these types of problems because I was personally involved in the testing of these circumstances (in I14 beta, testing all the different ways critters and custom critters could be used in AE missions was basically *all* I did for literally hundreds of hours), and I know that using buff bots to allow players to get either minimal-risk rewards or highly accelerated rewards was not intended. The existence of the ability to even include them was a compromise, as most features of the AE are, between trying to give the players as much flexibility as possible, and trying to curtail the worst excesses of exploitive (and Exploitive) behavior.
The question often comes up: if the devs won't let everyone use everything for everything they want, why do they include it at all? And the answer is simply that if the devs only included in the game things they were willing to allow to be used in literally every conceivable way without regard to balance, there would be no game at all. There is nothing in this or any other MMO for which that statement is true. If someone believes that the moment a developer places something in an MMO they are giving unqualified permission to use that thing in any and all possible ways, with an additional promise not to change it when unexpected and undesirable uses are either discovered or discovered to be excessively promoted, then that person is obviously not within the target audience of the MMO industry. -
Quote:A lag issue that has been there since the beginning, almost 5 issues ago. If you knew me, then you'd know I don't form speed runs and do take it slowly, but there is always lag. I realize exploits need fixing before bugs, but really how long does it take to fix a bug?
I still want the bug fixed that says someone is in their Base, or the Arena, or Mission interchangeable and randomly. But, that's only been around, since... I7 I think. -

OK, Super Jump, Super Speed, and Flight all suppress as I understand it. Is there any sort of suppression on Teleport, in any form, in either PVE or PVP? How about Ninja Run or Sprint? If one slotted sprint up for speed usage in combat, would that be a waste?
-
It's also possible that a high lvl with an offensive name leveled with a inoffensive name, and then paid for a name change. I'd not waste my money to do that, but some folks, who knows?
-
Quote:Besides, if you're worried about Super Speed not being 'natural' then how in the world is it justifiable to even worry about trying to get more than a 44mph sprint can be maintained indefinitely?Ok, I slightly misunderstood your last post. In regards to your concern I'm going to say don't worry about it. Sprint only gives a bonus to jump height not jump speed and the bonus is pretty minuscule. Slotting for it will allow you to jump an extra 0.4ft so stop worrying and slot run speed enhancements in Sprint.
In any case I did a quick build in Mids, this gives 44.4mph run speed, 52mph jump speed and 18ft jump height. I'm sure you can tweak this for better performance and to suit your tastes, this was something I threw together in a few minutes. -
Quote:Issue 16 did indeed remove the limits for entry to accomodate the new sidekick system.
Are there any level restricted zones still, besides the PVP ones, or can you badge and plaque hunt anywhere, any level (risks of course, notwithstanding)?
Kinda curious the lowest alt to have all the history badges, for example. -
Quote:If you've not had success via any of the suggestions here....My level 50 blaster that is on the Freedom server was unfortunately 50 when the safeguard missions were introduced....so I missed alot of the lower exploration badges from the missions...this character is my badge character and I would love if someone could throw me an invite if they have the missions for Kings Row...Steel Canyon...Skyway City...Independance Port...Talos Island...Brickstown....and Founders Falls...I tried broadcasting in the badge channel for freedom but had no takers....if you can help I would be willing to pay 1 million influence per mission if I need to just to get the badge...
Please send a global tell to @The Fallen Angel and we can set it up...!!
You have my global, you're in my SG, I've got altitis and am always running alts up and through those missions... Just say the word. I have those stinking maps memorized, so we could zip right through it. -
Yeah, I was afraid of that. I don't think I've spent any time in the Hollows since the revamp. In for a quick Cavern Trial, then boom, gone.
But, I should think Frostfires arc is available via Ouroboros. Hmm, gotta look into that, thanks for the inspiration! -
Well, thanks to you all, I'm pretty much fully on board as far as understanding the procedure. Thanks to your help here, and the other thread someone suggested I look at, I feel I have the basics fairly well grasped now. Thanks for taking the time to explain it slow and simple.
One question, slightly off main topic, but it shouldn't be a big thread jack; in the gladiator events, are you basically playing mastermind to the Gladiators you select?
I've tried to check out this aspect (I'll admit, not with a huge amount of perseverance), and frankly never found a soul on, so I've never seen it. -
How about Outcast leaders? I've always tried Steel, but it's very slim there. Can't even think of any outcast arcs blue side, either.

Quote:Thanks, but this..Check out the other thread just below this one for more details.

Quote:Farm PVP Rep to 400 to get the Longbow Warden 2 Gladiator then go and set up some heal sessions in the arena.
I appreciate your attempt to help, but maybe I'm just not able to even ask the question clearly, since I'm SO lacking in knowledge of this general area. Partly why I'm able to get heal badges, but not Arena badges I guess.
Edit: I think you just mislinked, and I just saw the thread you meant. LOL Perhaps I should have looked about a bit, instead of jut clicky-ing, before replying. Sorry. -
I'd mostly agree with everything everyone has said, and add weight to the Lost boss hunts. I'd hunted them in all the usual places, and then tried the sewers once, and once you're at the correct depth, you're done in no time. 1-3 per spawn, and spawns practically on each others laps and no real ability to scatter made it the easiest Lost boss hunt I've found.
For what it's worth, I like the hunt out in X-Ray, since when you can't find a Fake, you're usually finding 2 PPs, or vice-versa, so if ya need any quantity of both, it's a pretty solid bet, even more so if you want overseers, too. -
Quote:Well, Nericus' suggestion about the Disruptor badge is the 'best' in terms of getting the job done. Particularly if you're interested in total badge count. Get Disruptor first and the healing badges are a snap. Of course, that 400 rep is a bi... pain.
All of the suggestions were good (although I'm kinda biased, as I was thinking of Mothership raids myself, from experience) but, can someone explain the the 400+ Rep method. I didn't follow that at all, but I'm not all that arena savvy. -
I seriously doubt they'd have one set of new badges for the brief test run yet another new one (or yet more new ones) just a couple of weeks later. If you got them for all your alts that want them during the test, you'll just have to hunt candy canes or ski like mad once the event goes live would be my guess.

Quote:Not a problem at all. I did indeed get the answers I was looking for. And quite a bit more that was related and helpful. I appreciate all the insight. I was tempted to go off topic myself and ask some specific build related input regarding my -regen strong options, but I think that I might be better served not threadjacking myself and just posting a new question.i think gloom, smite, mg, pause is pretty spiffy
EDIT: Sorry OP for going Offtopic but it seems you go the answers you were looking for
Thanks again all. -
Quote:I don't really see multiple new zones as "pretty empty." Other than CoV I don't recall any issue that introduced multiple new zones, unless you count the Midnighters' Club as a whole separate zone than Cimeroa. Unless the zones are fairly content light, and with the whole side-switching arcs added in.....I'd like to believe they'd give us that stuff for free, but GR would be pretty empty if it didn't have any exclusive ATs or powersets.
That being said, I could still easily see it going either way.
But 2 new powersets vs multiple zones..... The new zones are far bigger than a few new powersets. -
Quote:I am talking about Drain Psyche. I think we all are. I think Uber was just pointing out the neat part about Drain Psyche, as opposed to others is that you can slot it while on others you can't, which I thought was what you were all getting at.Sorry i misunderstood you. I thought you were taliking about Darain Psyche. Most other powers with -regen are not slottable as Uber said.
Quote:Dunno about Ice, i guess it could work as afaik its the third best single target DPS set after Fire and Sonic Blasters have access to. Again i´m not really sure, i tried to figure out a build for this on my Sonic/Mental blaster but i couldnt get the sufficient recharge and defense work out in my favor.
Edit: What about Energy Blast? I ruled it out because it looked very similar to Ice at a casual inspection, but I assumed (I admit, I don't know for sure off the top of my head) that the -recharge component of Ice may have some effect vs GM/AVs and thus offer some mitigation, but I also assumed that the KB would be mostly ineffectual.
