Quote:Rula-Wade is always an EB, for some reason.Reroll a Mercs/Storm MM, problem solved. Kidding of course.
I died once against him and lost Lord Recluse during the first try. But I quickly got right back up, resummoned my pets, and quickly dispatched him before his regen kicked in. (I was level shifted and he was an EB) -
Don't see any reason to go for the single target, but I also use Provoke in normal fights.
-
The secret to soloing EBs, AVs, and GMs lies in Provoke. Provoke them, debuff them, jump around and make sure you are never near your pets.
As a bot/trap, Wade should have extreme trouble hitting your pets anyhow. He isn't even an AV. With max difficulty he still only qualifies as EB, which I found odd, as Ghost Widow was an AV -
Most of the time I'll stick to SOs till 47, besides a KB protection. Refresh them every time I can.

I actually started with an Electric/Electric (it's lightning, it HAS to hurt! Oh, and should probably be hard to dodge too...) And despite (perhaps because of) dying many many times, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Certainly forced me to learn as much about the game as I could- I learned pulling before I learned that you could replace enhancements. Learned to view and think about every fight before rushing in, learned that other players are fantastic to have around (meatshields!), and loved to crash and burn play-style. If I screwed up, I died, and I learned from my mistake (Ok, no more attacking 50 foot tall pumpkin monsters...). Learned how to keep enemies away- combination of Tesla Cage and Lightning Clap. Learned that there is no shame in running. Learned that it is hard to have more fun than nuking the hell out of some enemies that just killed you.
If I had started with a melee character, I may not have even stuck around, but that's just me. Unless they are religiously opposed to ranged fighting, I stick to my recommendation of a Blaster.
Should note that I joined during the Halloween event. -
As far as the easiest- definitely one of the melee ATs. That is not, however, what I would recommend to a new player. I would recommend a Blaster- not because of it's performance, but because of what it teaches you. If you start playing melee ATs from the beginning, then try any of the squishies, you will be like a fish out of water and flop around lamely until giving up and going back to the tough guys. A Blaster also teaches you the value of having a team- a new player would have a fairly tough time soloing with one. As well as learning to think about a fight and not just charging in every time.
So yes, I'd recommend a Blaster. Not because it is good (it isn't), but because of what it teaches you. -
Well no, his second post is also non-constructively ranting about something he didn't like, but with some player insulting added in for flavor.
-
By that I mean he was non-constructively ranting about something he didn't like, which as you've said many times is against the rules.
-
I think I rather missed his point with all the caps and ?!?!?!
They violate the rules by your standard of the rules, which appears to be a different standard than everyone else's. -
Quote:No one violating the rules here, but your intent appears to be getting every post you don't agree with deleted. Not sure how the posts in response to you that violate the forum rules are still here....strange.
On topic, I can understand your frustration, but as you see weeks from the release of BM why they did not use male lions. They are obviously trying really hard to maximize the profits for their four legged rig, to the point of obsessive love as the panther is coming soon™ as well.
I still would not rule out pet customization. The way I see it, the more pets they put out, the more choices for pet customization there could be and therefore makes it more attractive as an add on feature down the road. I could be totally wrong about this as well.
And like people have been saying- it makes sense. The female should be the hunter, the male should be the companion pet. If the male lion was in the BM set, it would just lounge around and growl at you till you brought it food. -
Quote:Not to mention that on the two lowest qualities they don't even have eyes.Looking at the quality of the lions as a vanity pet, I have to say im happy to have the lionesses. The Companion lion pets are badly made, look like they have two rolls of fat either side of their head, their manes look like stuck on bits of cardboard and their tails just dont look right. They also have no tounges and their paws look deformed.

Quote:Pretty much this. The males sit around all day, females do the hunting. So yea, makes sense that the non-combat pet is the male, and the one that bites off faces is female.Riiiiggghhht. Ever study anything about lions? Yeah, the males look all fearsome and their growls sound cool, but ever see them out, you know, hunting? Or do they pretty much sit at home, defend the pride's kids, and eat a lot of food? Go watch the Lion episode of the Kratt Brothers' "Be the Creature" series, where the lionesses take down a frikkin' elephant, then try to be serious about them being "pussycats."

Quote:Because they are still attacking, and already MMs have the advantage of 7 endurance bars, whether or not you can tell them what powers to do. Building around endurance issues is something every AT must do.What I don't understand is why they use endurance at all or at least don't have some kind of natural end discount considering you cant tell them what powers to use when.
Though with MMs it is infinitely easier, just slap an end redux in each summon and you're good. -
Quote:You ever tried Ninjas? Genin can burn through endurance with no upgrades, and it gets progressively worse. Having a seamless attack chain is both a gift and a curse.I just 6-slotted my Dire Wolf. With SOs, I go for one Acc, three Damage and one -End. So far it has worked out much better with one -end.
I created this thread 'cause I was amazed by how fast Dire Wolf burns endurance with just one upgrade. Like I've said, I know other pets can burn through endurance quick but usually with two upgrades. My Dire Wolf was literally dried on endurance in two semi-long fights. When I solo, I tend to do x2 players as a MM. Maybe it was using more end 'cause we needed more attacks to kill the mobs.
Now, on the POSITIVE SIDE, I have noticed that with Dire Wolf, I gain Pack Mentality much better. In fact, I saw 10 stacks several times. Before Dire Wolf, I could barely get 7 stacks on a regular basis. With 10 stacks of PM, Beast's damage is good. I can't compare with Ninja yet until I have two upgrades. I just know that at lvl 29, my Beast/Time's damage is not low at all. -
Quote:It was actually getting better for a few pages, then began to devolve again. It certainly is amazing what can happen over a weekend, isn't it?
It's an interesting topic you have here and I'd hate to see it get squashed because of the tone some of the posts have taken. Keep the conversation on topic and away from the personal attacks so I don't have to lock the thread.
Thanks,
Mod 19
But hey, proof that rednames are watching! -
Oh wow, coulda sworn it gave a shield. Huh. Well, good reason to not take Heat- only one with no shield at all.
And yes, I'd recommend Mace if you didn't mind going villain. -
I don't consider any of the attacks really worth it except for the ones that provide secondary effects. MMs have such a low damage modifier that even the fire blasts do a bit less than 30 damage at level 50.
That said, Chill Mastery is nice. It is the only one with a defense based shield, which should help greatly towards reaching the soft cap on a FF MM. Flash Freeze, though, is worthless, which means you are stuck with taking a single target blast. You also get a nice heal and +max health in Hoarfrost. Hibernate is still a good panic button, but not so much on MMs as other ATs- all your pets will still die, and the instant it goes off everything will kill you. Anyhow, you already have Personal Force Field as a panic button.
Fire gets you a resist shield. Bonfire is great fun, keeps enemies off their feet. You get a self rez, which again is rather useless on an MM. You do get Char though, which is a single target hold.
Field gives you the best resist shield for s/l, Force of Nature, and three attacks that have knockback, making them actually useful.
Charge- you get a resist shield, a single target hold... and EM Pulse, which is an epic PBAoE disorientate. Widely regarded as one of the three best hard controls in the game. The other two being EMP Arrow and Volcanic Gasses. Also you get Thunderstrike, which is a PBAoE damaging (hah) knockdown and disorientate.
So unless you really want that heal and shield, I'd go Charge. -
Quote:Now, see, if the Rad defender can't survive a couple of enemies going after it, they obviously don't deserve to survive. Have you seen the debuffs on those things? All that -damage and -tohit, they would stand no chance of hitting the *******.Let's say your taunt aura is the only thing keeping a cluster of mobs inside of a Rad defenders debuffs. The Rad defender isn't in there with you but there is one or two Critters going for it, range beats travel, one you might of used one range attack and the other you could use Confront. There are lots of circumstances.
All you've done is say something I have seen people say and yet disprove not only to me but themselves as a result ingame. Usually an attack may miss, actually even Scrappers on their tauntless Brutes don't tend to weigh up against their words either.
Some gauntleting + aura only Tankers prove their own limits to themselves eventually too.
Also, better than taunting- Taking combat jumping, jumping over and hitting the bastards.
All a Scrapper's problems can be solved by hitting them. -
Uh, what? It isn't even an actual proc- its an aura like the pet uniques. It's always on.
All the Catalyst does is increase the AoE def from 10% to 15%. -
Quote:I dunno, personally I think killing stuff is more effective than taunting it.I don't think it matters if most Scrappers don't take it or if some Scrappers don't take it. The typical Scrapper needs something that helps "him" and works for "him". Most never give a toot about the team except when it comes to people that he feels should be supporting "him" and at the end of the mission despite buffed Blasters doing most of the DPS, success was largely down to "him" as he is "pro" and all others are mere spectators to his "awesomesauce". Then he might log on to the forums to discuss what he can do so that the sycophantic lemmings can just go "wow". He certainly appreciates the adoration.
I've seen a lot of Scrappers talk a good game without confront but never really give one. I think it might be because I am not "him", so things aren't about me. It's a good game because what mattered to "him" is the only thing that counts.
How many scrappers can say that theyre not all "me,me,me"?
Boss attacking squishy?
*CRUSHING UPPERCUT*
Problem solved.
Really though taking confront isn't even helping the team that much. Perhaps if it were a full on taunt... but all it does is take time that would be better spent hitting stuff to taunt a single target, when most fights will have enmies numbering in the 20's. -
As for the Rularuu power, I would only use it if I get his health and powers
-
I bet if you actually did buy 60 million dollars worth of Paragon Points, they would have no problem making a powerset for you
