I've always hated Dull Pain and the other 5 minute recharge hp boosters - my Ice tank has Aid Self and that's it. Healing Flames was always better IMO, and now it really rocks.
[/ QUOTE ]
I might be wrong but the recharge isn't that long. Even if it is, why would you skip one of the key powers of the set?
[/ QUOTE ]Actually, 6 minutes base. And he didn't say skipped, just hated.
Personally, I value a solid self-heal with decent recharge far above DP and it's clones, since they recharge far too slow, especially post-ED. -

If you want reliable aggro around a mastermind as a brute, you should be taking taunt or some PBAoE aura that has a built in taunt effect. The only other way is for the MM to play beneath their potential, which is hardly fair.
[/ QUOTE ]Also, having (and using) AoE's helps, since brutes have gauntlet. -
Always give target for your henches to attack, if not using bodyguard. This both eliminates the runner problem, and makes them concentrate fire, reducing the number of foes faster.

Maybe slotting Charged Bolts for accuracy and range could help with turning it into a quick recharge hide dropper?
[/ QUOTE ]You'd need animation time reducers to make it quick, the animation is nearly as long as flares. -
[ QUOTE ]
Some combinations are obviously never played inside Cryptic's offices or they would not perform so bad.
[/ QUOTE ]You mean the devs actually play the game? -

First off, keep in mind that an Empath adds damage potential to a team in a number of ways. Assault, if you have it, is barely any part of it. Things like AB (+recharge, and having enough end for consant attacks), RA, Fort (+acc, +dam) all add to the overall damage done. Plus, any time someone is alive, rather than dead, they're doing damage they wouldn't have been. And hey, if you have Assault? Over seven other teams members, on top of the other things, it does add up. So the Emp is giving a lot more than that 7.5% per player.
[/ QUOTE ]But an empath without assault is giving all the other things, apart for that +7,5%. And due to the nature of damage buffs, that 7,5% will actually be less effective on people with fort.
Personally, I won't mind if you have a "pure" build, but I could never stand playing one myself.
And to comment on the US thread:
[ QUOTE ]
Edit: One of them wants Dark Pit, that power's so [censored]!
[/ QUOTE ] It's a stun, with proper slotting it can be used to drop squishies' acro in PvP. And it's also quite a decent survivability tool in solo PvE. -
[ QUOTE ]
I just meant to ask, what does the second entry in nofuture mean? Is that the domination version?
[/ QUOTE ]Can't be anything else, although the way it's marked is very cryptic (Pardon the pun), and makes one wonder if domination was meant to work differently at some point during the design. (Another interesting thing to note that both domination and fury use 'rage' as the unit of measurement) -
It's accuracy modifier is 0.9, which is good for AoE control, most of them are 0.8. The base fear duration at L50 is 22.35 secs, and considering the base recharge is merely 40 secs, it's pretty damn nice. Not to mention it also does decent AoE damage, and is pretty big cone.

An Empath only has to support, it is its main objective. Kinetcs/Storm/Rad/etc-Defenders do have other things to take care of, may it be containment, trolling or buff/debuffing.
[/ QUOTE ]Those are all included under support. And so are, suprise suprise, defender secondaries. -
[ QUOTE ]
Web Grenade is only useful if the target doesn't have any Break Frees.
[/ QUOTE ]You don't use web grenade for immob, you use it for -jump, -fly, -rech and -spd. Same for 'torps, except that they don't have -rech. -

Question the firste - Which is "better" for pvp?
[/ QUOTE ]Elec could be used for endurance draining, but personally overall I'd sya ice.
[ QUOTE ]
Question the seconde - Which would be more useful in a team pve situation?
[/ QUOTE ]Depends on the situation, really. They're fairly balanced for AoE's, which is what PvE is really all about.
[ QUOTE ]
Question the third - Will ice/elec outdamage elec/elec by a huge amount?
[/ QUOTE ]Elec/ lacks a big hitter attack. Ice has it. On the other hand, elec does have snipe while ice doesn't. But i'd say Ice is more damageing.
[ QUOTE ]
Question the fourthe - Will I even use primaries much?
[/ QUOTE ]Yes. -
You'll want aim for the +DMG, elec isn't all that high on damage so unless you're just planning to telemine everything, you'll really want that buff.
Health... If you're going to use defiance, you'll not want it. If you're getting aid self, you propably won't need it. Otherwies, I'd take it to reduce downtime. -
[ QUOTE ]
I do hope we are talking AV level here...
[/ QUOTE ]Can't spawn her as EB on relentless -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Is that stated officially, or just your perspection?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's official, I think, but I awkwardly put it in word : the growing of fury against low level mobs is not slower than before, it's slower than the growing of it against high level mobs or players.
To sum up, it's the fury against players and high level mobs which has been improved in the patch.
[/ QUOTE ]Aye, that is correct, it always used to be that way but was bugged. The post just made it sound like there'd been a reduction in the speed it builds up when fighting ormal mobs. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh so it can be used as an attack also can it, when you are not defeated??
[/ QUOTE ]No, there is no power in the game that works whether or not you're alive. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
A brute running both will be most unbrutish
[/ QUOTE ]
not really, high def and res, mez protection going and also boosted HP regen, using mudpots and taunt to keep things on you and it's not so much an issue, pvp wise, kins, rads and psi are your worst enermies lol
[/ QUOTE ]High survivability isn't the point of being a brute, it's constant movememnt and attacking. Which is why /stone isn't a true brute set. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
only cause you have less attacks avail and gen so do most of the pve enermies your facing.
[/ QUOTE ]
And since last patch, fury grows slower when you (try to) hit low level mobs.
[/ QUOTE ]Is that stated officially, or just your perspection? -
[ QUOTE ]
ps. soloing a heavy usually also means soloing its owner..
[/ QUOTE ]Which often is very easy, especially if the owner thinks RV is merely a PvT (Turrets) zone... -
[ QUOTE ]
I might go for Medicine if liquify does suck when I get there, I'll just have to say that it's bandaging myself or something to stay in concept.
[/ QUOTE ]The medicine pool animations actually feature a gadget that you use for the healing, so explaining it shouldn't be a problem.
Build looks good otherwise, but I'd rather wait for stamina until 22 than drop the travel power that late. -

Also, alot of missions seem to be biased towards people who can just jump in to a battle, and don't need to summon guys so as to stand a chance. I am speaking of course, of those missions where there are enimies standing right by the door, ready to own your dude. AT equality!
[/ QUOTE ]There are weaknesses associated with the power MM's have. It's called balance
[/ QUOTE ]
I see...... sarcasm aside, i am interested, so as to broaden my horisens, in the weaknesses of other at's? merry winter-een-mas.
[/ QUOTE ]Their weakness is that they're nowhere near as powerful as /dark MM's -
[ QUOTE ]
The enhancements I slotted in were just guesses, I only put 2 Acc in most things as the builder says that Sonic attacks have -5% Acc normally.
[/ QUOTE ]The builder is wrong with that (As well as certain other things), sonic attacks have normal accuracy, apart for siren's song, which has the normal AoE control penalty (Base accuracy 0.8 instead of 1.0) For the most accurate numbers (Sadly only up to issue 7, but there haven't been many power changes since then, and those that have can be found in patch notes), use NoFuture.
[ QUOTE ]
Clarify I had no idea about slotting so I'll limit that to one.
[/ QUOTE ] It doesn't need anything really, just stick either EndRdx, Rech or Range in the default slot.
[ QUOTE ]
Biggest problem I have so far is everyone expects me to heal. Even when I put Sonic/Sonic in my search comment. I'm enjoying it as it like a blaster that helps out the team.
[/ QUOTE ]Many people sadly think of defenders as healers. However, this is luckily mostly limited to lower levels, and people will most likely appreciate you more as you get higher up. -
[ QUOTE ]
And if you want to PVP then don't listen to MaX. In PvP two accuracy per power is a necessity.
[/ QUOTE ]Of course, however it is mainly a PvE game, and the poster never specified any desire to PvP with the build -
Personally, I'd only slot one ACC in attacks, and use the 6th slot for EndRdx.
Fly doesn't need EndRdx, you're not going to fight using it. Rather throw that slot as a flyspeed in hover or something.
Stamina is kinda late-ish, might want to move stuff like the Haven and howl/shout later and get it at 20.
Amplify doesn't need ToHit buff.
Clarity only needs one slot.
From what I've heard, most sonics consider liquefy quite poor, would propably drop it.
You'll want 6 slots in screech if you take it, something like 1/3/2 Acc/Stun/Rech.
Drop the acc in dreadful wail and add 3rd rech, you're going to fire off aim and maybe PBU before it so hitting won't be an issue.
With dropping liquefy, you might want to consider shuffling powers around and dropping something like superspeed, in order to get aid self from the medicine pool.
All in all, pretty nice for your first build.
