  1. When used in a click power, does this proc effect elusively the user, or can it effect the target as well (such as when using Heal Other?)
  2. [ QUOTE ]

Um, I'm pretty sure that the Numina's Regen/Recovery and Miracle +Recover procs only affect you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If that's true, I'll be mighty pissed. I'll have to check that tonight.
  3. I put Numina's Convalescence (Regen/Recovery) into Radiant Aura instead of Health. That, plus the other +Recovery IO turn my heal into a sort of ghetto Recovery Aura, but with a MUCH shorter recharge time.

    One more point I want to make about +4 boss farms;

I've seen more kins FS & die in a heartbeat than any other debuffer. The reason is they want to get near the mobs to use FS, they last 1-2 hits, and often there's more than the agro cap floating around (or they're not controlled) so the mobs take umbrage at the debuff and pop 'em like balloons. (Ed: I personally enjoy killing 2+ spawns at a time, without a tanker - which is quite doable on a good team - but getting near them as a squishy just isn't wise)

Everything else can debuff from a pretty safe distance, and trollers have immobs. Fire/storms who know how to use hurricane to push immobed mobs back into the killzone are by far my favorite conceptual troller for farms. Pity I never see them

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would also add that Hot Feet frequently adds to their woes. I was just on a team with several Fire/Kins with my Fire/Rad. One fire/kin in particular died so frequently, it made me consider putting recharges in Fallout.

He decided mid-mish that Hot Feet was to blame. Possibly, I wasn't keeping that close of an eye on him. I was running Hot Feet as well, and standing next to the tank most every mob. Then again, between the dubuffs and the tank's taunt aura, that is sometimes the safest place to be.

you can benefit from 5-6 speed boosts

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing- not even my own carelessness and stupidity- gets me killed faster. Nothing like rushing into a mob to AoE hold... rushing past... rushing WAY past... hey, rushing into a whole brand new mob-! Splat. I feel like Elwood Blues just glued my gas pedal to the floor.

Of course, you'd have to find more than one kin who knew how to SB before you could get in that kind of trouble.
  6. Are you planning on soloing or full 8-person teams?

I use my Fire/Rad for 54s. She's a beast at it. I'm usually standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the tank, awash in pretty orange numbers. I've got some Chance-for-Hold procs in my Chocking Cloud and Fire Cages, so locking down a mob of +4 bosses is surprisingly easy. She can even soft-tank 52s if I am careful and time things right. Getting mezzed is still a minor issue (not so much on farms) but with every purp, I get that much closer to perma-AM.

The debuffs in Rad bring a nice added layer of survivability you don't get with Kin. And there are SO MANY kins running around these days, it is very rare that I'm NOT at my damage cap.
  7. I love puns and mashups for names. If it sounds vaguely dirty, all the better-
    Humongculus - the humongous homunculus!
    The Day-Glo Placebo - Illusion/Empathy, of course.
Lu-C4 - Bots/Dark, naturally. All her minions have techy demonic names, like BLZ-bub or Asmo-DS
Matchstick Girl - Spines/Fire- she actually looks like a living campfire.
  8. Did you, I don't know, SAY anything to her? Maybe some politely phrased constructive criticism? Maybe start off by asking to have your shields refreshed, and work from there?

This is an MMO, it's a social game, and that's pretty much what can make it awesome or terrible. You said it yourself- not vet badges. She's clearly new. Newbs (as opposed to n00bs) are usually pretty receptive to advice if it makes their toon more effective and powerful. They might not understand the way certain game mechanics work, like us grizzled vets do, and frankly the language in the "info" menu can be very confusing.

What IS really disturbing is that she got to 50 without anyone correcting her weird habits. Sure, the onus is on her to learn how to play as effectively as possible, but it is also in your best interests to her her get there.

It's like the illiterate kid that somehow slides through high school. We can [censored] and snicker about it all we want, but the better one of us gets, the better all of us gets.

(well, until the nerf bat comes, but that's another thread...)

i have played it in missions but i havent farmed with it.

i asked for help i didnt ask for someome to question me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, for farming the two most important powers are Bonfire and Repel. You want to take both of those as early as possible, and 6 slot them. Toggle on Repel the moment you enter your farm map and never turn it off. When you approach each spawn, drop Bonfire wait a second or two, then throw out your Fire Cages. After that, just let your imps clean up the leftovers...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can totally vouch for this. Its awesome, try it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It works best on really large, tightly packed spawns.

Angelface, if you aren't aware of this .... this is sarcasm ... so is the medicine and presence pools ... check out my guide, it will help ...

Trolling? In my CoX? Say it ain't so, Cuppa!
  10. If you plan to team- Bots/Dark- they're all about the AoE. The more meat you can get in front of their guns, the better.
If you plan to solo- Thug, Ninja or maybe Necro/Dark.

    Man, I love Dark.

EDIT- oh, if you REALLY wanna solo AVs, you will probably want /Poison. I've never played one, but I'd imagine Ninja/Poison would be brutal on AVs. Single target crits + overwhelming ST debuffs.
  11. You don't need KB protection in Hover AND Superspeed. I've NEVER blown through 4 points of KB protection. Also- KB protection in your MoB? Anything that is going to stack up to 12 points of KB on you is something you have no business fighting!

Also, why Fly AND Superspeed? You could be taking FALLOUT :-D!

Do you exemplar alot? If so, you may want to re-order some power choices, like getting your travel power and Stamina earlier.

    Mind idea

Wouldn't it just work like the "betrayal" function when an NPC ally stabs you in the back?

It would be a great toggle. If your end runs out, your little Manchurian Candidate snaps out of it and attacks you!

I just can't get into Mind as a set. It looks borked as all get out, especially since Plant gets a mass confuse at a lower level. That pretty much stole the one signature thing Mind had going for it. So yeah, I would disagree that "Mind has done fine without a pet for years now."
  13. If you're worried about End, you may want to go Fire for your Epic. If you're neck-deep in enemies, Consume will refill your blue bar every time.
  14. I was just curious what toons/builds people were playing even after they dinged level 50. Whether it was to purp out the build or hoard influence for another toon, concept/role playing, badge hunt, or just because it is so damn fun.

I thought my Ill/Storm controller was going to be my go-to 50, until I started playing my Fire/Rad :-D
  15. I'd go Fallout over Recall Friend, but it is really nice to have both. People usually drop right in the heart of the battle, so they're already in a sweet spot for Fallout. However, sometimes they make a spastic retreat a die away from the spawn :-(. Of course, Recall has other uses, and I guess it depends on how you want to help your team.

Couple other things I might change-
Add one of those -knockback IOs into Hover (the names escape me- I believe there are two, and neither are overly expensive.) If you're going to be in the heat of things with Choking Cloud and Hot Feet, you're going to need it. And you don't need to actually have Hover ON to get the benefit of it! :-D

On Fire Cages, use the 6th slot for a Chance for a +2 Mag Hold proc (again the names escape me, sorry.) I think it has a 25% chance of hitting, and when you consider how fast FC cycles, it's going to proc A LOT!

I think there are similar Procs available for hold powers (15% chance for Mag 2 hold) that I popped into Cinders and Choking Cloud.

Also, I love Smoke. I know alot of people don't care for it, but it really helps keep Imps from aggroing the next mob as they chase down runners. It also allows you to "ghetto tank" by getting close enough to drop RI before the Alpha hits you.
  16. Every build plays different. Wildly different, which is what makes Controller such a rich class. My Ill/Storm is a completely different experience from my Fire/Rad, from my Plant/Therm.

So I guess the question is, beyond Doc Strange, what do you want to do? Do you want to solo? Do you want to make any PuG a pack of demigods? Do you want to do damage and live to tell about it? Do you want to uncork chaos? Do you want to be a lockdown beast?
  17. I seem to remember a recent (past 3 weeks) discussion about Fire/Rads and AVs. Look back through the posts.
  18. Maybe its time for a AE Moans & Groans thread?
  19. Situational? Sure. But it's a situation the comes up often enough that sometime Fallout isn't even recharged from the last time I used it. The damage is okay, but the debuffs are truly what make it shine. I use it enough that I almost tried to find room in my build for recall friend so I could place the corpse at the best place.

I took Fallout over Mutation on my Fire/Rad. Pretty much anyone can rez themselves. Not everyone can turn their corpse into a debuff-o-matic Nuke machine.
  20. One thing that always troubled me about DA for a Tank- Dark Armor trades some def/dam res for pulsing status effects (stun or fear or both.) Since those effects pulse, aren't Alphas especially brutal?
  21. One other complaint you might hear from teammates is that Hurricane can be hard on some video cards and can cause lag/low fps. Another good reason why it's not an "All The Time" power.
  22. Hurricane is a great power, but it is a very situation power. It is a Hammer, but you need the Anvil to make it effective. In other words, corners are what make Hurricane really shine. Packing Freakshow Tanks so tight into a corner, they have to stand on each others' shoulders- that is fun on a bun.

Hurricane makes a pretty good panic button, too, letting you disperse and debuff mobs long enough for a team to regroup.

Also, it is just plain HILARIOUS to go around KR and use Hurricane and Gale to swat CoT off rooftops. It's not going to level you up or anything, but damn if that ain't fun!
  23. There's better builds for pure AoE madness. The strength of Elec/Elec (imho) is sapping mobs in 2 shots, and fast end recovery after nukes. You can stand toe-to-toe and blap pretty much anyone when they have no end left to fight you.
  24. Taunt is why I love Tankers.

I usually play controllers. I love managing the big picture. Tanks are fun to me when they do more than just survive everything. It's when they invite destruction that things get fun.

Using Taunt to force a mob to attack a target they have no chance of defeating is a form of mind control. Inviting them to take a shot at the guy cracking jokes about their moms, instead of the guy shooting a fireball up their backside is total mental subversion. A well-placed Taunt can be the ultimate lockdown.

    Bad PUGS

Another sign is a team of 8 people with no one higher than 14 thinking a 54 boss farm is the fastest way they can get exp.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh dear lord, /signed. There's always some lvl 8 and a couple buddies trying to lure in a few 50s or high 40s for a 54 boss farm. It's the new "PL meh!"

I don't mind the occasional farm. it eases the pain of getting to some key powers, like Stamina. When I throw a team together, I'll usually do a nice mixed minion/Lt mission, yellows and oranges. No one dies, the xp and tickets flow, and i can easily boot leeches and lamers. Invariably, when we finish, everyone will be so impressed with themselves, they'll demand a boss farm. That's usually when "RL calls" for me.

The latest trend I've noticed (an this all actually may just be ONE person) is people very very impressed with their powers, and wanting to discuss, in battle, about how slick they are.
"OMG, Fire Cages suckahs! I locked down htat whole mobz!!!"
"This build is teh Uber tank! I cannot die! People will beg me for farms!, lolz!!!! And I has Heal Other!
    and my fave-
"Bet you never saw a Controller that actually knew how to use Recall Friend RIGHT before!"

Like I said, I might just be teaming with the same idiot's alts.
