  1. Stuns happen, baby. I was cruising around the Hollows with my 50, cleaning up CoT mages for the badge, and dammit if those lucky SOBs didn't manage to mez me every once in a while. Never for more than a fraction of a second, but long enough to detoggle me and be annoying >:-(

If you are diving into the middle of spawns, not having Choking Cloud or Fire Cages is a strange choice. Both take some nice, relatively cheap +chance to Hold procs. Both are extremely useful at setting up Containment to get the most of your damage output. Both help keep enemies tightly packed and withing Hotfeet range, as well as withing range of your Rad debuffs. And Fire Cages is a nice, fast-recharging source of even more damage.

While I rarely take two travel powers in most characters, it really seems to help this one. SS+ a stealth IO gives me Invisibility if I need it (so less of a need for Smoke), and the ability to run around quickly to pull the imps into position, or run in and hit Cinders, is so very nice.
Back to my point about playstyles- I LOOOOOOOVE Fallout. Call it situational, sure, but its a situation that happens frequently, especially on PuGs. A massively debuffing nuke? Yes please!

I'll confess... on more than one occasion, I've been... slower than I should with the Healing aura in the devious, gleeful anticipation of busting a Fallout off a luckless teammate's ***. >:-)

I'm very tempted to drop the Fire epic in favor of Psi, just to get that Mez protection. The duration/recharge on it of very disappointing, tho'. And i will miss Consume.

World of Confusion might just seal the deal, however, especially with a fresh new color. Hotfeet + CC + WoC = pretty-colored mayhem!

There seems to a HUGE variety of playstyles, for controllers in general and for Fire/Rad's especially. I've always skipped Bonfire and Mutation, since my Frad is starving for slots AND powers.

  6. Mine is a Freemason password (althought I am not, myself, a Freemason.) The story (as i can best recall it) was that in the Temple of Solomon, in the Holy of Holies, the High Priests guarded the Word of Creation. The word the Hebrew God used to create the world.

Years later, Jerusalem gets sacked by the Romans, the Temple is destroyed, and the Word is lost. The Freemasons, claiming legacy to that Temple and its designers, have yearned to reclaim that Word. In the meantime, they've used a filler word. A stunt word, as it were, until the True Word can be recovered. That word is MaHaBone.

People argue left and right what it means, where it comes from, etc etc. The Wikipedia page on it has long since vanished. I'm sure some helpful Freemason will dive in a correct me on any and all points of my version.

All I know is, I still get regular /tells and /PMs from people that recognize the word or are Freemasons themselves. Most just ask me if I'm a Mason (again, not. More of a Subgenius Discordian, really.) Some are even thinly-veiled threats! Yay!
  7. I've got a couple of 100% fool-proof, always work methods for finding a team-
    1.) Cash in a respec.
    2.) work on AE mission.

I guarantee you, you will get a flood of tells asking if you're LFT.

Tsk tsk. You can't be afraid to get dirty if you're gonna mud wrestle. Drink the Kool Aid! It's delicious!
  9. Ice/Anything tanks. I've only seen a handful in all my years, and fewer still that performed well.

I did see one Ice tank the other night that was really aptly named- "Icy Debt Peeple".

I just watched that movie (well, the first half anyways) mostly as kindling for my nerd rage.

I feel like someone somewhere owes me an apology.

  12. See, I always though Mature Roleplay focused more on 401k contributions, mortgage options, and the right time to start getting colon exams.
  13. Not that I would know anything about it.

  14. MRP = Mature Roleplay
    ERP = Erotic Roleplay
Pretty much the same thing, although many a soul in Pocket D will argue the many nuanced differences. A lot of talking dirty in the first and second person.
If you don't like writing descriptions about how you'd undress someone, or reading about how they would undress you, steer clear of it. On the other hand, if you do, welcome to Pocket D!
  15. Virtue seems to have the healthiest Good, Mature Player : Jackass ratio. You do see the occasional Darth Vegetas and Hellfunk Grimdark, but for each one, there's about a 50% chance of irony.

Aside from the excessive monologing mid-battle and frequent requests for "MRP?" the one thing I appreciate about the Rp-heavy environment is that the people on Virtue take more pride in their toons. Their costumes, their back stories, their clever little key binds and finesses. People really tend to create and mold their characters here, not just level them up.
  16. Fire/Rad is the only build I actively play past 50. It's a swiss army knife of goodness. It plays completely differently (at least the way I play it) from every other troller build I've tried. My biggest problem is when I switch to a different toon and try and play it like my Fire/Rad :-O
  17. I put the -KB in Hover and the +stealth in Flight. Discretion and subtlety is the farthest thing from my mind in a fight, but a bit of Stealth helps on long trips and when exploring.
  18. I'll be respecing into the Psi epic for my Fire/Rad. The mez protection has always been tempting, and WoC just seals the deal. I spend so much time in melee rang anyways, and now that I can change the color, I can control like a freak without clashing! (well, i might be clashing with my video card, but that's another story. Oh the particles!)

I will miss Consume, but I've got enough purps that end isn't much of a worry any more.

If the troller version of WoC is similiar to the Blaster version, the end consumption isn't much. .18 iirc.

Whew, that's a relief. I guess I should update my video drivers, because I keep seeing Tornado toss around my targets no matter how hard I cage them.
  20. Hey, just telling you what I've seen, and seen repeatedly. My tornadoes (no KB enhancements) tossing around targets with AT LEAST two cages on them from two different trollers. Usually someone's Fire cages or Ice Cages and my Earth Cages, since those are easier to spot graphically. Plant's tend to hide in the poo, so to speak, and Grav's immob (if I recall correctly?) doesn't prevent KB anyways.

And I tend to spam Cages on my Earth/Storm since once you've got so many drop powers, once everything is out and active, its all thats left to do. I ESPECIALLY spam cages when I've dropped a Tornado into the mix, since I don't want to be That Annoying Knockback Troller.

Is it possible that if a Tornado lingers/pulses on a target long enough, its +Knockback will stack higher than Cages -Knockback can control?

Cages won't negate the KB from Tornado. Tornado's KB is pretty beastly. i've seen it toss around double-caged minions with ease. It does seem to minimize KB distance, tho'.

Still, Earth/Storm is a GODLIKE combo, and one of the tightest synergies you'll find among controllers.

  23. My Ill/Storm works just fine on teams. Its a combo that requires some finesse, and one of the few builds that has the potential to cause a lot more harm than good. It's got a steeper learning curve than other builds, but its lack of structure can make it a lot of fun once you get the hang of it!

I skipped Tornado on my Ill/Storm, since there's no AoE immob. And even with an AoE immob, 'nado's KB is ridiculous. I've seem it tossed around DOUBLE caged targets (fire and earth) so there's not a lot of ways to avoid that.

Flashfire is your (almost) every spawn control, and shouldn't be left out. Its mez stacks with Fissure as well.

The mez protection on Acrobatics is nearly worthless (most holds are mag 3 and it provides mag 2 protection), and the -kb can be easily replaced with a single IO that can fit nicely into Combat Jumping.

I would recommend holding off Enervating Field or Hotfeet (or both) til post-Stamina.

The defense of Weave is worthwhile when stacked with others defenses, but you should try and see how survivable the toon is without these 3 powers (and you can pick up Hasten, etc. earlier).

The toggles you have would be prohibitively expensive to run all simultaneously--even with a near-perma AM.
Agreed with pretty much everything Rep said. Enervating Field is a BEAST on endurance, as are Hot feet and Shocking Cloud. You rarely even turn any of them on until you got Stamina.

You'll want Flashfire and Cinders. If you intend to run the delicious Hot Feet/Choking Cloud combo, you'll be right in the thick of things, so you'll want plenty of control.

EMP is also an amazing Oh Shi-! lockdown power on its own. Stacking it with Cinders and/or CC will mean pretty much everything in sight is locked down.

Also, I'd recommend taking Fallout over Mutation. It's a NUKE that debuffs the living crap out of everything it hits. Let me say that again- it's a NUKE that pretty much neuters whatever it doesn't kill outright.

One free piece of advice on running a front-line Fire/Rad- it's all about the timing. When my timing is right, I can stride into battles and poopstorms where tankers would fear to tread, lockdown everything my eye beholds and tear it apart.
When my timing is off, I die.
When I get sloppy, I die.
When I get lazy, or distracted, or bored, I die.

See, an ordinary person spends his life avoiding tense situations. Fire/Rads spend their lives getting into tense situations.

Me too! Not so much in the early levels, when you only have a precious few slots, and that one purple might just save your life later. But in later levels, I always try and keep one slot empty. Problem is, I usually end up with a glut of Break Frees and wakies I have to combine into more practical inspirations.
