Quote:[Limitless Radial Freeeem]. Self +EverythingIts also a power inside City of Heroes that you get during a level 50 story arc...
I love typing that one from memory when people are linking powers they just got in chat. -
The only thing I've given that treatment is the 'power is still recharging' error sound. Thank you game, I know, that's why I was queuing it up to go off as soon as it is recharged...
I actually like most of the beam rifle sounds, though a couple might start to get old after I play the set more. Cutting Beam in particular gives makes a very satisfying bzzzt sound, which gets louder the more targets you hit with it. -
What I want to know is why on earth did the First Ward mission that sends you into the Midnight Mansion just re-use a midnighter club instance rather than, oh, I don't know, one of the new mansion maps?
-
Unfortunately they had to delay the muting of all sounds until work on the Visual Sound FX project could be completed. The art team is still struggling to select appropriate fonts to use for BAF! POW! and FREEEEM!

Quote:Dang it, I read that as "foam swords" and was salivating at the thought of getting a Nerf Assault powerset.Agreed! This game is completely breaking every real law of physics! How dare they depict things like people who form swords of fire, shoot people with mind beams, twirl around firing pistols in all directions and hitting only foes!

Quote:Sort of in-game footage, but even that is pushing it in places. I'm pretty sure that the game doesn't have dynamic depth-of-field blur with shifting focus (0:25), lens flare (0:17), or power effects that leave visible distortion trails (0:19).I'm just glad they continued to use in-game footage. There are few things that irritate me more than games that blow their advertising on all CGI that looks NOTHING like the game itself.
The combat scenes looked a little more realistic, if sped up in a few cases. -
Take it for theme, but don't slot the FF proc in it. The chance of it going off in that power is so low that you'll start to wonder if it isn't broken. I'd go for a damage proc instead.
It'll help you get to Spring Attack as well, which also seems thematically appropriate (assuming you weren't taking Combat Jumping, if you are it doesn't matter). -
Quote:Meh, not to everybody. I know alignment merits can buy fancy IO recipes for relatively cheap, and I've gotten a couple LOTGs and Miracles for some fresh 50s, but honestly I don't care enough about them to bother farming them. Too much work when I could be doing other things, and the tip missions get repetitive.Funny you should post this, because I usually feel the opposite way: to me, being able to do any mission on one character (in a game that encourages alts) doesn't feel like much compensation for easy access to rare and expensive items from hero merits. Also, the alignment powers for full heroes/villains are generally better than the rogue/vigilante powers.
I don't feel shortchanged on my rogues and vigilantes, because if I really wanted to farm tip missions, I have more than enough pure heroes and villains to occupy as much time doing that as I could possibly sink into it. -
Quote:Well, it depends if you consider yourself as re-summoning the same pet after patching them up, or summoning yet another disposable minion to send to their inevitable doom...Uh huh. That's what I thought. So...in reality it is not permanent like the power states. Tricky trick trick.
Thanks!
If it's the latter, then it was permanent... for that one. -
Quote:But wait, I thought everyone was deleting their force fielders, and nobody was going to roll new ones, since it's outclassed by Time and Cold? While the entire CoT redesign has been a complete waste of time...
...I gotta agree with not including the pope hats. They would look SO STUPID poking out of force field bubbles.
Since that is the case, I fail to see the problem with tall hats -
I can't imagine that the long skirt would clip with any animations that the pencil skirt for females doesn't.
And the pope hat isn't that much taller than the hat from the magic pack.
I have to agree though. If the CoT were redesigned so that players could use their costume pieces, why are there so many that players are not allowed to use? It boggles the mind. -
This is why I think that every dialog tree where there are one or more options of your character saying something, should always have the last option be simply "..."

Also a networking guy here for my day job, and echoing what Arcanaville and TonyV said. Responses from port 443 on their web server to high (aka ephemeral) ports are entirely to be expected, especially if your browser is opening multiple connections to load images, etc. Twitchy firewall overreacting.
Going to venture a guess... ZoneAlarm? -
Quote:The only way to turn an incandescent light bulb off IS to break the circuit, so when one is off, it really is off.Even if something is 'off' it still draws power when it is plugged in and completing a circuit.
I guess maybe they save a tiny bit of money by not having it turn on when the door is opened, but I can't imagine it would be much. -
Quote:IMO offering a lifetime subscription says to me that developers don't have faith in the longevity of their product.Paragon has stated they considdered the lifetime subscription, but saw that most of the games that offered it did not do so well afterward.
A lifetime sub is effectively a bet of how long the game (and/or the players interest) will last. The only way for the publisher to come out ahead is if the player gets bored and quits or the game shuts down before they would have subscribed long enough to be more than the cost of the lifetime sub.
Seems like a bad idea to put yourself in the position where you WANT people to quit. -
It depends how you disable UAC. If you disable UAC and then run as an administrator account, then yes, that's the same as running everything as admin.
What I do is disable UAC and then run as a standard (non-admin) user. That's roughly equivalent to leaving UAC on and unconditionally clicking NO every time UAC wants to elevate something. On the rare occasion I need to install something, I have a separate admin account I can log on using. -
Pretty sure I remember seeing it as an option for beam rifle, but as Eric said the beta server is down, so I can't confirm that.
-
Quote:You get to pick which two character slots you unlock. So I log on, my character has no enhancements because they were all IOs, I can't even use that really good class I liked, stuck with the first two I made unless I delete. I can't use the invention system at all...yeah sure I can log on...but I've lost a ton of progress and work.

All players earn them at a rate of 1 for every $15 they spend (bulk discounts notwithstanding). That can be either a free player buying points in the store, or a VIP's monthly subscription fee.
Free/Premium players don't get them for nothing. -

Don't forget that any AT except for epics can start in Praetoria and go to hero side at level 20, and that in issue 21 any AT will be able to start on either side.

Many controller pairs can kill giant monsters, so long as one of the secondaries has some -regen. It depends on which set and what pets you have available, though -- some will be easier than others.
I played half of an Earth/Storm and Plant/Rad duo that started killing GMs for fun and badges in the mid 30s. Animated Stone makes a surprisingly good tank with some buffs. The only major problem was endurance, we were sucking down blue insps like crazy.
Was also able to take out Jurassik and Adamastor while dual boxing a pair of fire/kins, could probably get most of the rest but haven't tried yet. Spamming transfusion, FS, and siphon power reduces its damage and regen to manageable levels.
Illusion is the obvious choice though, because PA can't be killed. If you can get it perma or overlap with another troller, you basically win automatically so long as you can debuff its regen.
A tanker or brute paired with a defender or corruptor might also be a good way to go. -
Hmm, how about under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT?
If NCLauncher isn't there, it's possible that they've changed it since then.
I don't know if you'll ever be able to get rid of the UAC prompts. As far as I know, the launcher uses the API to request elevation directly, it's not that Windows is detecting it trying to access something.
If that is indeed the case, the only way to get rid of the prompt is do disable UAC entirely and run under a non-admin account (which is what I do on my systems). -
Quote:I rarely use it for travel shortcuts nowadays, except for maybe faultline. It comes in handy sometimes. Especially on task forces that have you traveling all over creation, it's possible to cut out time using it. Besides, it goes to zones not directly reachable by the Ouroboros portal, like Kings Row. It's not so useful that it's a must-have by any stretch, but there have been a few instances where I've been like, "Aw, I've got to run all the way to— Oh wait, I can just using my Pocket Teleport..."
For Talos and Founders, ouro is faster. For KR, Wents teleporter is faster and avoids the extra zone transfer. Even low level i'll usually prefer an SG base port just because it's less travel distance.
Ditto for redside, Ouro or Black Market teleporter gets me where I'm going quicker.
It's invaluable for quick tailor access though (at least until I21). And of course the inevitable visit to the bird to turn off the mystic fortune prompt.
