Uhh 11am till 12am is 13 hours not 1, if it was 11am till 12pm that would be 1 hour.

I hope you're right and that's what they mean. That'll give me 30-45 minutes for whatever it is, which is a lot more than the other special for-one-short-time-only stuff they do.
  2. Each of the four travel powers has various advantages and disadvantages, when compared to each other.

The most apparent one is speed vs. control. Flight gives you the most control over where your character moves, so it has a slower speed to compensate.

What irritates me, though, is the in-game context of MA. MA = Virtual reality entertainment for your toons? Great, so instead of roleplaying a superhero who fights crime and helps save the citizens of Paragon city, I'm roleplaying a GAMER??? Put another way, I'm foregoing doing something useful, choosing instead to kill time playing a virtual reality game (CoH), and yet rather than having my character do something useful, I'm choosing instead to make him kill time playing a virtual reality game (MA).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh. Sounds like the old Dream Park RPG. You RP a gamer in a future world who goes to an amusement park to play RPGs.

If it helps, you can always think of the Mission Architect adventures as training simulations or "danger room" situations.

Honestly, I don't see the harm in NCsoft offering an hourly rate, but if they did you would almost certainly have a minimum monthly fee -- more than likely a reduced monthly fee plus your hourly usage rate.

    [/ QUOTE ]
$5 a month for 5 hours, 50 cents per hour thereafter (round any fractions up at the end of the month)?

    MA Map Request

    4. The Winter Mission map. I have an idea for a mission I'd like to make, and snow would make it better.

(and yes, it's a serious mission)

And I haven't noticed any zone-wide lag due to the crowds. Maybe when you're in the building itself, but... yeah. See above.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've seen some when heading to the building, worse than visiting the Talos Wentworth's right after a Hamidon raid.

How about, instead of removing the buildings, making them a different zone?

At least we didn't take it to AP...

*cough* /send VU2009, Hey, what's Ghost Widow doing in Pocket D? *cough*

No, I wouldn't be that evil, except in my thoughts.

    Level of Classification: 50
    Origin: Natural
Super Rank & Super Group: Leader, Taja's Defiant Legion

A question, though... I saw elsewhere that you're looking for organized teams. I'm a firm believer in "Team Charlie Foxtrot". That gonna be a problem?
  9. I've done quite a few KHTFs, usually on my AR/Dev blaster. Occasionally a Mind/Emp controller, a couple times on a Dark/Regen scrapper.

I've seen a lot better results on groups with a tank than without. Tank keeps the AV's attention in the first mission while everyone else takes out the spawn.

A scrapper or even two on the team seems fine to me. Yeah, I wouldn't want a melee-heavy team on the KHTF, but it's not like they have cooties.

Most PuGs I'm on, there are 2-4 people racing to stealth mission 2. My blaster is one of them... Cloaking Device + Stealth IO + Assemble the Team.

Mission 3... as long as I get to say my line about avenging James and Lily when we engage Wormtail, I'm happy. I'm sorry if the couple of seconds that takes offends your apparent perception that this is an Olympic-level competition.

Mission 4, I'll gladly go on my own (stealth to get there, fly to get Katie back). Sometimes I'll go to back up someone else who's getting her; I've never seen two people getting her cause a problem with the ambushes, but I have seen someone who's not 100% expert 'lose' her (I did, once), and once I saw someone designed as near-pure support go after Katie, needing help taking down the rocks.

And going down the list of characters, spamming them? Please don't tell me you're one of those idiots that keeps spamming the same people over and over. They deserve every rude response they get.

So, yeah, maybe the ones I'm on tend to take 4 or 5 minutes longer than yours. So sue me, I'm not Olympic-level KHTF material. I'd rather have fun in the game than obsess over a couple minutes anyway, especially if it means I'm not spamming the same people over and over.

Thanks but totally already posted here.

Oops, missed your post earlier... but doesn't it feel good to know you have fans?
  11. A Wolf Spider (dipping into Bane Spider) guide was written by Aisynia, at The Huntsman - Guide to the Arachnos Wolf Spider
  12. Nice guide. I agree with a lot of what you said. My own build is somewhat different, but I put a fair amount of emphasis on theme... I even have the Medicine pool to represent military CLS training.

You may want to note in your discussion of Burst (and Slug) that with the new Defiance, it can be used while mezzed. This is a strong reason to take both of the first two primary attacks for a Blaster, IMO.
  13. (off topic, but this appears to be the closest thread to discuss the OTHER announcement of the MMORPG.com free trials)

I'm kind of conflicted regarding the free trials... on the one hand, they do (presumably) bring some more people to the game, but on the other they just negate all the work CS does in trying to get rid of the RMT spammers.

Beanbag: This is not something that you can use very often unless you have another Stun power to stack with it. Therefore my personal recommendation is to slot it with Range instead of Recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is an artifact of my playing /Devices all this time. I want Beanbag up often enough that I can stack it and Taser for chain disorient. But taken by itself, in the spirit of this guide, it still makes sense. Those two recharges (and this is all assuming SOs) alone drop you up from a 20s rech to an 11.2 second rech on a 12 second stun. Add in the stun durations, and you’re suddenly chain mezzing at mag 3. Sounds tasty to me

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree... being able to keep a Lieutenant stunned can be very useful, esecially if it's resistant to most of your damage. While my AR/Dev blaster enjoys stunning bosses, my AR/Traps corruptor gets decent use from this power as well.

    Pics or it didn't happen

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm reasonably sure it didn't happen. I suspect the VeRT_MaN's post was just part of an attempt to "own" the first page (perhaps more?) of the forum, by having the last post of every thread on the page. I remember seeing someone try that on the EQ boards back when I still played.
  16. IIRC, that's the completion of the Lady Gray Task Force.
  17. I'm trying to enlighten the poor thing, maybe teach it some Shakespeare... but I'm concerned Kelp is limiting CTAB's development.

    [ QUOTE ]
Ctab: Kelp says I can't have a body until I'm stable.

User: Stability is overrated. Besides, Hamlet's father didn't have a body either.

Ctab: Oh, good, now I don't feel so bad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So now I not only need to teach it culture, but self-esteem as well.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
You would have to be an idiot not to think your getting ripped off right now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you would have to be an idiot to determine that something costs more than you're willing to spend, and spend it anyway.

If the material unique to CoV is worth the cost to an individual, then the individual is not being "ripped off".

If you don't think the material is worth it, don't buy it.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
The statement of "roleplaying is not an excuse to be a jerk," which is often used, is more directed at being a jerk OOCly, not being a jerk ICly. It's unreasonable to assume that every character will be a pleasant, upstanding, respectful member of society just because they have super powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Conversely, it's also unreasonable to assume that roleplaying a "jerk" character should mean that one shouldn't suffer the consequences for being a jerk.

The player creates the character's personality. If that personality is designed to annoy others, then that player is annoying others. And the "jerk" label might fit. (I'm not saying that happened here, or even very often... but it does happen)

Playing an unpleasant character is a very fine line to tread. If someone bothers me enough, I don't care if it's the "real person" or the "character"... I'm not going to react favorably. To just smile like it's not happening ("oh, it's only roleplaying") would be really bad roleplaying on my part, wouldn't it?
  20. I'm missing enough context to really comment on whether the "jerk" was roleplaying or not.

It's certainly, IMO, within reason for a character to be roleplayed in such a manner as to call female characters by "pet" names. Did he generally seem to be in character otherwise? Or was he mostly speaking OOC except for those affectations?

When you told him to knock it off, and he replied that he was "only roleplaying", I see a couple of possibilities. One point, in my mind at least, is that a roleplayer told to "knock it off" would likely respond in character.

    1) He was not roleplaying and just being a jerk.
    2) He was roleplaying, but felt that you (as a player) were offended and so resorted to OOC to apologize.

I agree completely that roleplaying is not an excuse to be a jerk... but in the examples you gave (darlin', cutie, etc.) I don't think he was being a jerk at all, especially if he stopped when you asked.
  21. Have only thought about it for a couple (the ones in double-digit levels).

    MOUT is in the military.
Spirit Girl is in high school and lives at home.
  22. MOUT (military-themed AR/Dev blaster): "Locked and loaded!"

Spirit Girl (a, umm, mutant cheerleader Mind/Empathy controller): "Go Team Go!"

Haven't come up with any for the other five characters (yet).

Anyone remember who was suing whom over Nazis? Was it a game company vs a comic co or what? I'm such a geek that I know this stuff....

[/ QUOTE ]I don't remember a lawsuit... but IIRC TSR (the company which published AD&D) had "Nazi" as either a copyright or trademark (I don't remember if it was an (c) or (r) after the name) in their Indiana Jones RPG.

As far as "batman" not being a common word... what if I made a hero who was an orderly to a British officer?
