Quote:But, Lower the Rep is Two! Two! Two games in one!LOL
I doubt I'd take part in it though. I think green dots look prettier than red dots.
Then again...RED is one of my favorite colors...
Hmmm...
You can participate by posting in it... or by giving people there negative reputation.
The game is what you make of it. Think of it as the ShamWoW! of forum games. -

Okay, there's already a Forum game for raising reputation, but I didn't see one to lower it... so this is it!
Think Reputation is a waste of time? Don't care what people think of you? Post here!
In a bad mood? Boss yell at you at work? Parents telling you to do the dishes or take out the trash? Go through this thread and give people some gratuitous reputation hits! -
Well... I use mine all the time. I usually try to log out at sites that give Day Job credit for badges I don't have yet. But even having both can be useful; one is almost always up.
And as far as "worth it"... it's free. I would have played this game even without the vet rewards. IMO, something with no cost is almost always "worth it" unless it's detrimental.
People who don't think it's "worth it" can always choose to not click the button in the Vet badge list. -

Ethanol (i.e., alcohol)
Still remember the first time I ever heard of an ethanol I.V. I was an Army lab tech, and we kept periodically getting orders for blood alcohol tests on an inpatient, and it wasn't 0. We couldn't figure out what was going on... did he have a buddy sneaking booze into his hospital room or something? Finally, we heard that he was on an alcohol I.V., and they were just monitoring the dosage in his system like with a lot of drugs. -
I'm just glad they're taking a second look at the "Mine!" power. Being able to grab a random recipe, piece of salvage, or unslotted enhancement from another character seems a bit overpowered.
And what's your take on the SuperNanny EAT? I haven't seen the whole thing yet, but the "Naughty Chair" power looks promising. I'm kind of afraid what some ERPers will do with it though, after making their "sexy Mary Poppins" ripoffs. -
Quote:In your first example, it appeared that the rest of your group was not particularly sympathetic to your argument. If the rest of the group did agree with you, the group leader certainly could (and, IMO, should) eject the disruptive player. And, if the disruptive player happens to be the group leader, everyone else can quit the team and reform the group without him.All I am trying to say is...just because a person has the legally-protected right to be a jerk......that shoudn't mean I should have to leave an otherwise lovely party to avoid his jerky-ness. Why am -I- the person who has to leave if I am not the only one who has taken offense? Shouldn't the onus be on the public at large to eject the offending person from our ranks? I mean, if I get my knickers in a twist because someone said my dress was ugly, then yes, I should be the one who leaves.... But if someone proclaims, at the top of their lungs, that all (insert a group of people) should be (insert a verb that is violent), shouldn't the host(ess) ask him/her to leave?
In your second example, it occurred in a "public" place in-game. The most other players can do is ignore the offenders; the "host" in this case is represented by the GMs, and so a report and petition would be necessary to get them to even review the case to see if consequences (effectively "asking him to leave") is warranted.
I agree with your reactions, and would probably share them/ support you under the circumstances. However, as you state, "my right to swing my fist ends at your nose;" the other player DOES have the right to be a jerk, his friends DO have the right to tell me to "lighten up," and I do NOT have the right to force them to play my way. I can only modify my own play style (whether that's to ignore, petition, avoid, etc.) in response, until and unless the "host" (group leader, SG leader, or GM) asks (or more likely forces) one of us to leave. -
/e takes laptop to the hospital where he works, goes to Pocket D, and gets one of the RNs in the ER to hook him up to an ETOH I.V.

Quote:Heh. I only visited London once, for a long weekend (stationed in Germany in the late 80s, on a 4-day pass). If someone had corrected me like that, I probably would have thanked him or her. I still have problems with "Worcestershire".I distinctly remember shouting at Americans while riding on a tube train in London because for some reason pronouncing leicester (Less-Ter) square as Lie-chest-er really drove me mad.
I also recall the desire to ask some young women there for directions. Out of politeness, I would of course have introduced myself.
Tell me, what kind of reaction would I have gotten with "hi, I'm Randy, can you help me?" -
Quote:Report and petition. Make sure you explicitly mention child pornography. I'm guessing he's probably just a liar going for shock value, but maybe the FBI can let him know that such things are not funny.A few days ago, I am on a team where a member says "Hey, I am looking at pictures of naked children and jerking off, any thoughts?"
Quote:And he proceeds to tell me how anyone who says "think about the children" makes his head explode, and how anyone who takes offense at comments made by people on the internet are idiots.
Quote:I took screen shots of the convo, but didn't keep them, since most of the other people on the team kept telling me to "lighten up".
Quote:So, I am in a costume contest in Atlas tonight, and the people are talking about some video game where they get lots of points for killing children. Again, I politely request that they stop talking about killing children, since I am a parent and the subject matter is disturbing to me. -

Quote:Okay, this is gonna sound really cheap, but... if you occasionally post that you're getting reputation hits, you'll probably get people to award you rep to "balance it out". Just make sure you don't complain too much, or other people might give you more hits for being a complainer.I know this is kind of an odd question, but how do you (generic) deal with people who give negative rep without signing their name?
Alternatively, ignore it... as far as I know, Rep doesn't mean anything. -
Quote:That seems a little extreme. And then every 45 minutes or so *randomly more meteors fall from the sky... and destroy stuff... Until the whole zone is consumed in FIRE.
How about just the AE building. And the one in Atlas, and Talos, and Cap, and every other zone? -

"Worth it" is a very subjective measurement. I cannot tell you if something is "worth it" to you, nor can anyone else. Only you can make that determination.
I've been on some KHTFs that took quite a while to complete, and had multiple team wipes, but there were usually reasons... most of the team fighting +4s or higher for most of the first mission, for example. -
Most of my villains would ignore it. One or two might even pet or feed it.
Lord Malkor would experiment with it to make it even more vicious and cunning than a kitten normally is, implant it with cybernetics, and let it loose somewhere to wreak havoc. -

How would you like it if while taking your bath someone ran in and punched you in the arm only to be followed by a dozen more?

You mean like older brothers? -
[ QUOTE ]
Depending on just how far they are rp'ing the scenario you could just treat it as some outrageous claim they are making and rp the appropriate level of skepticism... If they are RP'ing it such that the "named character" is actually in the room agreeing about the relationship then it gets a bit tougher.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the way to go... someone can RP whatever they want. I don't have to believe them.
As far as having the named character in the room agreeing with them... if they get a Dev to log on to the character and RP that way, then I'll accept what they're saying. -
[ QUOTE ]
The premise is that the US government would has some problem that they don't want other people to know they are involved with, so they hire the Super-villains to take care of the problem in an attack that they can deny involvement with. In return, the villains get a commuted sentance and pardon for any crimes committed while operating in the Suicide Squad.

You mean like She Spies? -

And after all that, the 53 merits are a better choice than the HO. If you want HOs, do the LRSF/STF.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll often take an HO on the second raid on Saturdays, unless I don't think I'll want to play the character for the next 24 hours, in which case I'll just leave the reward window up. -
