Thanks for the feedback guys! PMD you are exactly right. Getting caught up with all the details in this piece made me lose focus on the lighting. I changed it as much as I could in post production and I do agree is makes it pop much more. Also your right when I do traditional comic style it kinda forces me to focus on lighting a bit more. So again thanks man!
I have something I want to discuss with you about a possible project. Ill shoot you a PM.
Gimmli Update
Oh and here's a game screenshot so you have a better idea of the look of the character: ArchLord Screenshot -
Thanks for the kind words guys! I finished the piece I was doing for the winner of the Archlord Beta contest. Please take a look and let me know what you think

No problem Sinister! Your pencil came out exactly how I first imagined it and I'm glad you're diggin it.
And Earthstorm, thank you for allowing me to do my thing with the environment and all. Its nice when people catch all the different details I throw into a piece. -
Thanks! Glad you guys are feeling this piece. I updated the pic by adding the heated air that Pep_Rally mentioned above and just wanted to share a couple more detailed shots.

Changed the name MMOART Exotics to MMOART Uncut. We just liked the sound and feel of it better. As for MMOART Toons, you'll just have to wait and see. I'm tryna build an empire! MUAHAHAHA!

Ahhh gotcha.
Empire? First image that jumped into my head was Darth Gill...
XD
It'll be interesting to see you draw in a toony style, since in some ways, its more challenging to switch brains from comic to animation art. :3

Exactly! Drawing in multiple styles isn't difficult, but all at the same time will definitely be tricky lol. I'm looking forward to it though and I welcome the challenge. -

Thanks everyone! Circus I'm glad you're happy with your piece! I was wondering who would be the first one to include Paragon's heroes. I'm very pleased with how it turned out! Next up, FLAME THUG!!!

Hey everyone! I know I've been absent for a while, and just wanted to update you on what's been going on with MMOART. As I said before, I'm focused on grinding out artwork as fast as I can lately but starting last weekend my work got halted by unforeseen computer problems. Basically some of the digital art products I use were conflicting with the graphic programs I use. But good news, all issues have now been resolved! I am currently setting everything back up and then it's back to bringing you all more MMOARTworks! Thanks to my clients and to everyone for your continued patience and support
-
Thank you guys! As I mentioned before, I'm on a serious grind here lately so expect a lot of back to back updates on MMOART.com this month. A LOT of artwork is coming soon!
-
Edited, hehe. That sounds really cool. I'll have to start seriously looking into getting it all done.
-
Sayterra my lady, you have read my mind lol! I actually suggested that same idea to Lush a few months ago. How uncanny! This of course will be way down the line, but I do want to put together some sort of art book with sketches, drafted concepts, all kinds of artwork really. Maybe even some basic how-to tutorials. One day... we'll see

Hey folks, I've been on the grind creating more art! Here is just a tiny sneak peek of what's soon to come
Technophile vs. Cross-Wire Sneaky Peaky -
The commission art aspect of this discussion is very important to me for reasons Im sure many of you can all understand. When I do an illustration for one of my clients I am simply using my skill and talent as an artist to put their basic idea(s) on paper or and to create a custom piece of fan art that they cant otherwise create themselves. I cant claim ownership of the character as it was presented by the client. My perspective is that the person who conceptualizes the character owns said intellectual property. Sure NCSoft claims ownership, but as someone said before thats like Microsoft claiming ownership to any works authored in Word. I think a few posters above have gone in to great detail in regard to the legal aspect of this issue so I wont attempt to go any further there. I look at the comic industry of which most of the costumes, powers, and story concepts in the COX community are derived from and question why this has even become an issue. I go to comic cons and see tons of artists doing commissions. I dont see Marvel, DC, Lucas films, or any number of other copyright holders going after commission artists. It is a part of the culture and has so many grey areas in regard to the law that it doesnt seem to make any sense for them to pursue it. As an artist that has been inspired by comics my entire life, I will not let anyone dictate what I can and cant illustrate.
I have a bit more to add in regards to what ArticSun posted, but I have to put together a little something first... -
Hey Static! We can pick up where we left off as soon as I get back to Texas. I will PM you with more details
-
Thanks Torell! Oh and did I ever send you a high res version of that logo?
As far as the name we fixed it right away as it was posted here and also emailed to us. Next time I'll be sure to post on the board also -

If you want to avoid plateau-ing, DO NOT DO WHAT I DID. I plateaued for a while because I /stopped trying to improve/. I stopped working at it. I stopped challenging myself with different perspectives, different bodies, different subject matter - I've been drawing since I was six years old and I have yet to draw a background because I'm afraid to suck at it before I get good at it.
But you /need/ to suck at it before you get good at it. EVERYBODY sucked before they got good at it.
So, keep challenging yourself. When something gets easy, add something new to it to make it hard again. Given the time and the effort on your part, not just on drawing but on learning how to draw what you want to draw by studying anatomy, architecture, the clothing of ancient China, whatever it is you need to study, you will improve.

Sorry it took me so long to get to this thread, as I was drawing
I do believe some people have talent which if tapped into can speed up their growth. I also believe that practice is a must when it comes to anything you want to do exceptionally well. I have been drawing for 22 years and like DarkJedi have never stopped or taken a break. Now the question there is: Did the fact that I have a smidgen of talent keep me interested, as opposed to a person that wouldnt consider themselves talented losing interest and doing something else? I do think that talent is genetic though. I happened to gravitate towards illustration and stick to it through out my lifetime, unaware that my estranged father of 12 years was an exceptional illustrator/painter. I dont think thats a coincidence. -
LOL! I must have been updating my post when you were making yours. See we are on the same page and thanks man!
