  1. Hello all. I suspect this is going to be a rather lengthy post as there is much to respond to.

First I want to thank Altoholic_Monkey for bringing this thread to my attention last night, as I was totally oblivious to the situation based on the fact that I have received no support emails in regard to some of the concerns here. I also want to thank you Alty for sharing my new pieces here as I totally understand how it’s easy to get all your information from one source. As for our relationship she hit the nail right on the head it really isn’t anyone else’s business so if she doesn’t feel the need to share personal info with you please respect that.

As for not posting updates on my site over the last month I honestly didn’t think what was going on was relevant. I don’t treat my splash page as a blog but more a place to post new pieces. However since some people want some word of things I will be happy to share. I feel like some of its kind of personal but hey here goes. I moved as I stated in the last post. This took a few days and you better believe I took a day or 2 off after that. My body was in shambles and I had to recoup. Then a family member called me last min and needed a place to stay and help in regard to local employment. I did quite a bit of driving around and attending to my guest. He was here for 4 days. I then got cracking on The Knights of Divinity piece, and as you can see that’s a pretty massive piece. I did lose that piece about halfway through the coloring phase, which is something that hasn’t happened in ages, however I am to blame and my wife didn’t let me forget it “SAVE! SAVE! SAVE!”. Thank God I had the pencils! The WOTLK expansion came out for WOW and I must confess I did spend a few days checking out all the new tid bits, and of course rolled a Death Knight, that’s still sitting al level 62. I sketched a great deal during that time as well. Right around that time Thanksgiving was upon us and I spent a few days with my family here in Texas, 3 days to be exact. I then got back to work on the Knights of Divinity and also some future roughs, and here we are. So that was basically my month of November and I will do my best to fill you guys in on more details in the future. I can’t say I will go into such personal detail but I will do my best.

Thor, first let me say our relationship has been up and down for quite awhile. I find your post here very interesting as you have numerous ways to contact me such as my studio number, both mine and Keisha’s cell phone number, all of the e-mail addresses listed on my site, and my MySpace account. I haven’t heard a peep from you in regard to your pieces. So the fact that you went in length on the forums rather than sending that information to me personally leads me to think that you are just attempting to stir up drama. Just to let you know I’m really not into drama as it only hampers my creative process and my time, as this letter is proof. Hey but I understand as I know how things can go on forums sometime, so let’s get down to the nuts and bolts of this situation and try and get this all behind us.

To my knowledge you have 2 pieces in my queue not 3. The Lord of Valhalla piece and the single character piece I am doing in place of the Priceless piece. As for our history it is very complex due to the fact that a great deal of standard practice was looked over based on our personal relationship. I will chalk that up to lesson learned. You mentioned feeling like you are being passed over for other clients in the queue, but that’s strange as I remember many of those late nights when after working 12-15 hour days I would bust out sketches for you. Many of which were pushed to the side due to a new development in your personal life or rolled into the Death Dealer piece I did for you, I do recall gifting half that piece to you also. It was a great deal of work down the drain but hey for a friend right? An unfortunate side effect of all of this was things being done on my personal time not professional time so fitting you in the queue presented quite a challenge. No worries though we will have a solution to this situation by the end of my statement to you.

I recall the last rants of you and Sassy on DA due to the fact that you overextended yourself with many artist and owed money due to some unfortunate real life events. I helped you out and paid that debt for you even though I had nothing to do with it. I paid it because I considered you a friend and I understood your situation. I also didn’t like how Rieq blasted you on his webpage. Well this is the second time you have done the very same thing to me and I’m sure there have been other times that I am simply not privy to. I have gone out of my way to stay available. I even recall pleading with people here to contact me directly or even through my personal email if they had concerns. Again you never did that. I am sure because I triple checked my emails and I also don’t have any voice mails from you. I do apologize that our dealings have resulted in you being bitter. I will do everything I can to remedy this situation, as I am not a crook or thief regardless of what Ironik presumes. I can only assume he has no idea of the statement in our order form that states there may be a significant wait time, but I digress. So T.A. my solution is a simple one. I will issue you a mandatory refund to make you whole. Kiesha will contact you this evening with the details. Hopefully we can move on from there having both created some nice pieces of art together, and also learning valuable lessons in regard to the commission process.

Guys the bottom line is art can be different things for different people. Comparing a custom piece of art to a floor is a stretch from my perspective, but hey if that’s more important to some people, who am I to tell them different.

Does real life impact my creativity? Sure it does. I can’t really do anything about that as every artist has a process and sometimes it takes longer for some than others. Sure some people can spit it out like a machine and some people it takes months to produce a piece of like caliber. I think it shows in the quality when I work on a piece and don’t quite feel like it at the time, but I will admit there is a sought after balance between perfectionism and productivity that I will continue to tweak and work on as I go. I personally know artists who have queues spanning years, I happen to be one of those people. My future solution is simple and it’s to limit my queue and work at a pace that I am more comfortable. However if you want your piece next day and know an artist that isn’t back logged and will produce the quality you desire then by all means patronize them.

As I said above things like this take up a great deal of my time, so please if you have any problems or questions in the future please feel free to contact me at support@mmoart.com.

Just a few more things before I get back to work.

For The_troll here is where I was on your piece before I started on this reply, and now that I’m almost done I’m going to be all over it. The large portrait will be in the back and his tattoos will be added in the coloring phase.

This is a rough for Big Soto he is hard to get in touch with due to his military service, so just waiting for feedback from him on this.

  2. Hey folks thanks for the comments! It's time for another update before I catch some Zzz's. I've put over 20 hours into this piece so far because there are sooo many details! So here it is, the ink version of Junkyard King stepping off of his throne of garbage! The lines in this one aren't as heavy as other pieces this time, so that I can highlight all the little features and textures even more in the coloring phase. ZzZzZzZzZ...
  3. Very nice piece, and welcome back! I have a truly special place in my heart for Missy K.
  4. Thanks everyone! Dark Ether, I'm not quite sure what Az-Bats means but I hope it's good lol.

And now for a different kind of artwork style, this is a Chibi commission piece for CoV fire/thermal Corruptor, Panthera Hybrid!
  5. Thanks guys! I'm back for another artwork update: Aranos X is now complete!

    All the time.

You should do what I do and make a lego image of my main, Light-speed!

Seriously, I have a list of about 14 renders to do, and I look at the list every day and just kind of sigh to myself because the volume of work is intimidating. Sometimes I think I take on too much. In fact, when I'm working from dawn til midnight every single day... and I look out the window and see my kids enjoying the last days of Summer... and I'm not out there with them - yeah, I work too much.

    I need sun.

My friend we are in the same boat...lol!

    Wow.
I actually became fearful that I would suck a little more as an artist *by merely looking* at Liefelds "work".

    Seriously.
I was working, taking a break and came here to haunt like I usually do and saw this thread, did a search for progressive boink and started reading.
I had a few laughs in the beginning, some toward the end.

Then this insidious gnawing darkness began creeping all over me as I looked at his work and began talking to myself; more and more and more:

    "Do I do that?...no..no I dont..no way...
..wait..do I?...crap!..omg are my proportions right?... theyre right arent they?..
...honey, can you come here a minute please?.."

Please dont bring this guy's name up again..for the love of god.

Honestly - and this may sound really pretentious and jerky - but I really believe that stuff like this becoming popular in mainstream sales is *extremely* bad for the business and bad for the genre.
If stuff like this sells briskly it essentially says: "See? you dont have to have standards for art and writing, just the right connections and money."

It just sets the bar soooo low.

Sorry if thats dickish or "on the high-horse" sounding but I really believe in pushing yourself in your craft to be the best your capable of being, to challenge yourself always and improve.

Seeing stuff like that just makes me curl into a fetal position and cry in an anatomy book.

Scary! Very much on point with my thoughts as well. So much so I had to double check and make sure that I didn't actually write this in a late night art induced stupor..lol!
  8. Hey thanks for the feedback guys. Brangzo the name of our cartoonist is Ryan . I also wanted to share the Aranos X Inks and will be posting the colors soon
  9. Hey all! Two new pieces updated to the site today: The Sick and The Dead done by our Studio cartoonist and Imitation done by myself! I also have a new WIP, Aranos X, but it won't stay in production very long. I plan on posting the final version soon!

Very nice piece! Graver is such a talented artist!
  11. Thanks for the feedback guys!

As for the Sylar piece this is just the rough draft, it took maybe 20 min as I changed his pose a bit. His likeness will be much more evident in the following stages. I actually like the Forgive Me text in the back as it adds to the complexity of the villain imo. It was also smeared on the wall of a secret room in Sylar's apartment in season 1. Will it stay? I'm not sure as the final bg will actually be the vault at the end of season 2, but it is of course up to the client.
  12. Thanks guys, and yep its a brain...yummy!
  13. Thanks guys! I wanted to throw the Sylar wip up here also =D
  14. Well done...very clean!
  15. Alright folks, Gold Dust Woman is now complete!!! More coming very soon...
  16. Thank you very much Techno. I have said it to many if not all of my clients via private correspondence but I will say it here as well. Thank You all for your patience and sticking with me through the trying times. I will put every iota of skill and creativity that I can muster into your commissions.

Scarf I started this post with the intention of it being about my recent works and I would really like it to stay on track. So I’m asking that you please respect that. If this is something that you feel requires more attention you could always take it up with poster A in a PM perhaps.
  17. There is actually a 3rd response. The third being I finally got in touch with Gill and we worked it out, so lets keep it moving!
  18. Very good trait to have, although you may be the first to die in a horror movie...lol!
  19. Hey thanks for the feedback guys. TA I'll try again around noon your time. Ironik I did lose my Outlook database but that just required me to get basic client info updated. We have been dealing with a family issue that I'm not really comfortable discussing here on the boards. However I am fully confident that it wont effect MMOART.com any further and I thank all of you for welcoming back into the CoX community!
  20. Nah I called you and got your voicemail. I left a message...

I'll give yo ua call now.
  21. I sleep slumped at at my drawing table so I can get right back to work as soon as I wake up. Kiesha only has to deal with my funk when sliding food into my studio as to prevent me starving to death
  22. Its coming guys!!! The only thing I do other than draw now is sleep *sniffs underarms* ZOMG I better fit in a shower too. On a serious note though at the pace I'm drawing I will have your commissions done very soon.
  23. High-fives* Thanks for the love guys! I am still working on the Gold Dust Woman colors but they should be along really soon. I like to do rough drafts in the morning to warm me up. Here is the one I did this morning Imitation. Please let me know what you think =)

TA Ill give you a call in a few!
  24. Hey guys! I'm back and boy does it feel good! I first want to extend a special thanks to all of the artists who stepped up in my absence and gifted artwork to the community. Juggertha, Dark Jedi, Daggerpoint, Sayterra, and all others who were involved, I appreciate you guys and the CoX community is lucky to have all of you! I also want to say thank you to Altoholic Monkey, TA, and T!M (Veikira)! You three especially, have been very supportive and true friends to myself and my family.

I'll be posting the newest MMOART work as each piece is completed here. Starting with the Inked WIP of Gold Dust Woman!
