At level 30, my Super strength brute had Mag 1.2 Punch and Haymaker knockback and Mag 15 knockup in Knockout Blow
with these settings, I was routinely sending even-leveled opponents half way across large rooms and flying up off the screen to land roughly 1-2 seconds later.
Now, at level 50 +1....I have Mag 1.84 Haymaker and Punch and Mag 21 Knockout Blow
And I can BARELY get -8 greys with no knockback protection to level of my character's head.
With level 50s, I can just about get them to go over waist level...again where the power analyzer says they have no knockback protection.
Is this as intended? Is this a bug?
I find this incredibly annoying and is a huge shift to the gameplay I have been developing through earlier levels -
Quote:liked it better than 300....300 practically spit on the history and the traditional tactics of the SpartansWell anyone else see it? Went to a matinee and...it's no 300. heck it's not even Clash of the Titans (original). That being said i did like it better than the new Crap of the Titans. Henry Cavell is going to have to remove he stick from his *** if he wants to do Superman any justice.

Ninjas Options:
Optional Theme: European Style Highwaymen (a la Musketeers or Comte de Monte Cristo style), Assassins (as in Middle East style)...other stealth types like
Boss levels: Oni, Sorcerer, Dervish...etc
Mercs: Police is probably the best other option
Thugs: Mafia, Yakuza/Triad
Robots: Rock golems, 50s style robots, anime style robots
Undead: Oriental Undead (green skin, long talons, etc), Spectres, Nazghul-style wraiths
Demons: Luciferians (more humanoid and sinister), Cthulhu-esque has been mentioned
That said, I'm hoping we get an animal mastermind soon and would like to see:
Aquatic (Black lagoon, aquatic elves, etc), Beastmen -
Quote:The amount is actually fine...at Tier 3, I can reliably take around 200 HP off a boss (75% proc chance)....apparently it will continue to stack with other players....a team of 8 could conceivably hit around -96% max HP...assuming minions could live long enough for thatI have to agree on the effectiveness of the -MaxHP. I tested it on a CoH Boss and it only reduced the HP by 50. And that was only for a few seconds, then the effect was gone.
I know the Devs need to be careful to avoid abuse... but... come on. This is being way too cautious. Either the effect needs to be more dramatic... so we actually see a difference during that few seconds... or they need to make the effect last longer and improve it's ability to stack (both with itself and others).
increasing the amount won't see any dramatic effect on minions through bosses because they already die so fast that -Max HP doesn't really matter
My complaint is that the -Max HP doesn't work at ALL on the types of enemies that it would actually matter against
The only thing that would make -Max HP effective against Bosses, Lts and Minions is too increase the hit points of those enemies to an extreme level...which is stupid
-Max HP is a tool that really only makes sense for Archvillains, Monsters and Giant Monsters, and that's because they last longer than thirty seconds and have enough hit points to for -Max HP to matter
but it's NOT working on them -
Really, the -Max HP is almost pointless against anything less than an AV or Monster...the -200 hp against bosses doesn't result in much more than a change in fight duration of 1 or 2 seconds...minions and lts have too few HPs to even notice
the only time this thing could shine would be against High HP enemies....and it doesn't work against them....
Please change this -

Quote:have the pilot on VHS somewhere...that was pretty goodWhile almost all the Howling sequels were crap, Howling 5 is actually VERY well done and still holds up. It is more of a murder mystery with a Werewolf but it's production values are very high for a direct to video film.
Also, does anyone remember the old TV show "Werewolf" that aired the 1st Year Fox was a network? -
Quote:subspecies was okay for what it was...and I'd forgotten Julian Sands
Seriously though, I'm glad Near Dark and Fright Night have been mentioned. There's also a really great take on the German Nosferatu movie called Shadow of the Vampire. The concept is the creation of the movie, and Count Orlock (unbeknownst to all but the Director) is actually a vampire. In exchange for playing the role of an actor in this film, he is promised the lovely leading lady as his 'bride' (he had seen her in another movie, and desired her).
I'm surprised Interview with a Vampire hasn't been mentioned, or if it was, I missed it. As well as the Forver Knight series or Salem's Lot. And nothing about the original Lost Boys?? How can you talk about vampires without mentioning them? Or From Dusk 'til Dawn. That was a fun one
Anyone remember The Hunger? Very 'artsy' but a vampire film all the same.
For cheese you also have the Subspecies films, or Julian Sand's Tale of a Vampire, or Innocent Blood. That was really cheesy but a lot of fun to watch.
I liked Blood: The Last Vampire, but more as a live acton anime than a 'real' vampire movie. In the same vein (pardon the pun) of Blade (being a primarily comic culture thing, I'm surprised that one hasn't been mentioned yet).
The funny thing about Underworld was that I loved the 3rd one over the other two, which seems to be the reverse for most, but there was no abomination werevamp thing, and the Werewolf forms were much better overall (something I'm a little picky about) but we should start another thread about Werewolf movies if we're going to get in detail about that...
There was one I saw a few years ago called "To Sleep with a Vampire" Which I really enjoyed. It had Scott Valentine of all people as the vampire, but don't let that fool you. Once you get past the fact it was made in the 80's it's a solid story, and well played out in my opinion.
Anyway, those are some I've enjoyed over the years off the top of my head, and if you think I got a little obscure with some of these, don't get me started on Werewolf movies... I think I can say I own almost every single one ever made... and most of them are horrible.
yes, Lost Boys is a pretty damn good one
anything Anne Rice related loses me...I found the book amongst the most boring things I'd ever heard of and is one of the two books I paid for that I gave up on reading (the other being Moby Dick) because I just couldn't get into the story
Interview with the Vampire the movie was slightly better, but not really -
I kind of wish our contacts continued having more missions for us as per some of the new ones....
like twinshot or the khel contacts
every couple of levels another storyline is unlocked from the old contacts -

Quote:Lifeforce was bizarre.....Innocent Blood was pretty good, good rendition of a vampire with a sense of responsibilityHere are a few memorably different ones that haven't been mentioned yet:
Lifeforce. The Lair of the White Worm. Innocent Blood. Razor Blade Smile. Blood: The Last Vampire.
not heard of Razor Blade Smile
the bit I've heard of Blood: The Last Vampire is....odd.... -

Quote:true, but I don't have as much of a problem with werewolf developmentsVampires have had enough movies. I'm waiting on a great werewolf movie!
the couple of "oh woe is me" werewolves out there really did have a version of the legend that DESERVED "oh woe is me"
the "Ginger Snaps" series and both versions of "Wolf Man" are good examples of werewolves that DESERVE "woe is me" and the sister from "Ginger Snaps" handles her infection head on with wonderful defiance up until crazy girl locks her up as a "pet"
"Wolf" with Jack Nicholson was very good
"Skinwalkers" was disappointing over all
the classic "Howling" was very good, the subsequent ones less so
"Cursed" was excellent
one thing on vamps vs weres....undead vamps require human sustenance and I can't really say that animal blood or blood bags would really work for something with as much of a mystical existence as a thing that's dead and walking
living vamps can theoretically live without being an overall burden on others, since that would be a biological thing...Underworld vamps being a good example (though "Underworld" vamps lack the hated "woe is me" attitude)
just like weres, being alive, also don't need to hunt people and werewolves are only one type of shapeshifting belief....shapeshifters, mythologically speaking, fall into the category of protectors and tricksters....as such, they are less prone instantly to being perceived as instantly bad
there are a lot of myths of lost children in the Pacific islands becoming sharks which sometimes guide family members from being lost back to safety (personally I think it's probably a particular species of shark that prefers shallow water which sometimes goes into deeper water, but which a boater can follow back to land.)
kitsune in Japan can be good or evil tricksters, kumiho in Korea are almost universally bad
shamanic transformation into an animal is a common thing for heroic mystics
and really, it's only hollywood that developed the idea of get bitten and become a vamp -

Quote:oh yes, "Fright Night" very goodThe Swedish film "Let the Right One In" or the US version "Let Me In" are both good movies with a viscious vampire but also shows why people become entrance by her regardless. I know this will probably sound sacreligious to fans of the Swedish verison, but I kind of liked the US version better.
"Fright Night", both original and remake are very good classic Vampire films as well, the original a bit more classic then the remake.
and I keep wanting to see the "Let..." movies....
haven't seen the remake Fright Night yet -
Okay, watching "Shiki" on hulu and it is doing a very good job of the Victorian era Stoker-esque vampire and what would happen if some came to a place that hasn't been inundated with knowledge of their weaknesses, limits and strengths.
"Daybreakers" also showed appropriately grotesque vampires back a couple of years ago
someone on another thread mentioned "Near Dark"
there was a rather bleak movie called "The Addiction" with Christopher Walken in a bit part
What are some other good vampire movies
and by vampire movies, I mean something in either the vein of Stoker's book or earlier storylines
while I have no trouble enjoying a story with a living vampire or good guy vampire....I am very tired of
"Oh, I'm so cursed because I'm a vampire and my life is ruined because I have all these powers and these weaknesses, except these weaknesses aren't really weaknesses because they don't work because that would be silly. Why couldn't I go out in daylight and why would I be afraid of crosses and things? So I'm cursed because I'm beautiful and powerful and have no real identifiable weaknesses." -

The very little I remember of my worst nightmares seem to involve lots of gore and blood that I'm almost definite I was responsible for somehow.
-
so, was running a pre-visitation adventure for one of my players, setting is the Spanish Civil War 1937 and he's robbing a gold transport
rolled join battles (initiatives) for the enemies...including two trucks full of "Hungry Corpses"
something you should never, never do as a zombie handler:
botch your join battle role -
Quote:Also, Loki is Odin's brother, not Thor's. Thor is married to Sif, who has blonde hair, not dark. There's no Odinsleep...Gods and Giants get it on ALL the time (Thor's mother is actually a giant), even getting married some times...giant ladies are sometimes very prettyHardly at all. Most of Marvel's Asgardian characters vary from the descriptions in the Eddas. Which is probably a good thing from Marvel's point of view, otherwise they wouldn't be able to copyright it all. Although I believe Stan said he made Thor blonde rather than red because he knew nothing of the mythology.
Interestingly the Eddas have some surprisingly comic-book description in them, such as describing angry Thor as having fire coming out of his eyes and lightning crackling through his beard.
wait, I should say Jotun, not Giant...giant is an ancient mistranslation
there's no indication that Jotun are actually any bigger than the Gods
Quote:No joke! People still think vampires are these fanged, essence of cool, creatures created by hollywood, and yet can't back a vampire with sparkles. I just don't get it.
And I'll say "pretty much any George Romero movie"
