I'll note one piece of art was $300 from Genzoman who does work for Blizzard

the other was $120 from someone who does private commissions (my funds are tighter than before and a fund-raising campaign failed)

Well, there ain't much you can do about it. Invulnerability, though, has that extra ~50% resistance to almost everything to fall back on. If I meet something I can't beat, I always have the option of popping Unstoppable on and becoming almost unkillable for three minutes. That, to me, is impressive.
Well, I'm not sure I mind the fact that not every defense has a desperation mode like granite, unstoppable or the like.
  4. the closest comic book to what we have is probably Gold Digger

Gold Digger has a D&D style fantasy world, a post Evil Dead style undead world, a freaky physics bending middle space, a superpower fighting circuit that crosses between Streetfighter and Professional wrestling, a society of adventuring archaeologists/treasure hunters/seekers of the unknown, a JLA style superhero group that decided to become an MIB style group to avoid giving a public target for supervillains to latch onto, space aliens that crash landed on Earth years ago, leprechauns with voltron style combining robots (Vaultron, to be precise), a GIJoe style evil mercenary/terrorist group and a GIJoe style group of elite pilots, ninja, magic, werecreatures, Washu-level mad scientists, and pretty much anything else you can think of

A downsized version of Jurassik's car hammer in the form of a Motorcycle hammer. Further more, the motorcycle must be Ducati or Harley.

What do you folks think? I was thinking it could be secured on pipes and steel rebar since PCs are bit small for full on girders.
    where's mention of Titan Weapons?
  6. the main problem they have is that the basic engine and came design for CoH was not made with PvP in mind and would have to actually be designed from ground up to be a good, balanced system

Now, if you want to make the argument that power sets should be more customizable so that Electric Blast/Storm Summoning has better synergy, that could be an interesting discussion.
perhaps IO sets that are designed to improve specific sets

for example, a Melee IO set geared toward Invuln with set bonuses as follows:

2 reduce the Endurance cost of Invuln powers by 15%
3 increase the resistance of Resist Elements by 10%
4 increase the resistance of Resist Energies by 10%
5 increase the defense of Tough Hide by 20%
6 soften the impact of Unstoppable crash

this could be slotted into any melee attack and improve the invuln powers...make them each unique so that only one of each enhancement in the set could be slotted and then you make a person able to synergize with their defense

actually, he was playing that in the time when everyone was complaining that Invuln was weak.

    I've seen his Invuln/Dark tank's numbers

    37% def v Energies, 36.9% v Elements (without Invinicibility calculated - with invince: 47% and 46.4% respectively)
    23.8% v Physical
    236% regen
    2.74 end/sec
    88% phys resist
    30.2% energy resist
    30.6% fire resist

I've seen his Invuln/Dark dive into psychic heavy mobs and handle them easy

heck, I used to have raw demo-footage of my brother's Invuln/Fire on the old, old, old version of the Infernal portal mission, back when it infinite spawned...his team had screwed the plan so he just said to hell with it and see how long he could hold out.

    15 minutes

realize this is before IOs existed
  10. you've never seen a really well designed Invuln in action, have you

I must say it is SCARY
  11. Small team task forces

    Soloable missions and story archs

stuff for those of us that want to have the incarnate story flavor but for whom raids are boring
  12. yeah, I know it's been asked for before

This doesn't even have to be a full new AT, you can just do mastermind sets with melee powers instead of ranged powers

given that I know a lot of the time I end up not even taking my attack powers, it won't change that much

if you did it as a new AT, then the "captain" would probably have a defense or self-buff power set and then a "following" power set that included 3-4 melee attacks and 2-3 summon powers....leaning toward less summons than a mastermind given the higher survivability defense or self-buff/heal would grant

    Stuff I Want

Okay, let's start with the list of what I wanted that I've gotten:

Power sets spread out to multiple groups: yep, at least we've started...I haven't seen any single-sword or MA Tanks or Brutes yet, or Superstrength Scrappers, but guess we're getting there

Power EFFECTS spread out to multiple groups: getting there, yep, no dark for trollers or dominators yet, and none of the control sets are blatant gadgets a la Traps/Devices yet, but, eh

    Animated tails: yep

    Better animal features: yep

    Side-Switching: yep

    Wings and trenchcoats: yep

    Power and weapon customization: yep

Ability to have a skin texture and still have a character be wearing something: YES! YES! HELL YES! (yes, I know that was one of the first things done with the addition of the shirt, robes and jackets types, but still...THANK YOU)

More realistic martial artsy animations: Ironically, mostly in Super Strength, but yes

Wu Xia-ish martial artsy animations - Kinetic Melee says yes

Ability to switch height, weight and gender across costumes: yes (though only really used it on my toon which is supposed to represent a brother-sister tag-team duo)

    *****************************

Now, a lot of this is stuff I've asked for since the beginning, or even before that, given I'm a Beta-Vet, and a lot of it is stuff people told me "no way that will ever happen" but, eventually it did, so I'm still hopeful and here we go for the list of impossibles I've moved on to:

More non-human enemies, I don't particularly care if their actual skeleton is just a cylinder like with the jaegers, I'd like to fight dinosaurs, wolves, bats and giant bugs that aren't robots or cyborgs

Desiring a legless-lower-body male and female builds (similar to the snake enemies) is in there, but I know creating new builds is going to be hard

Extra arms - Kali/Deva style....this is something I suspect might require a new build as well...but put it in here just in case.

semi-like this, four-arms would be plenty

broken weapons for costumes to represent desperate, last-ditch actions

    Ancient Japan!

I'm up for any Ancient/Future time setting in extension of the ones we already have

    Asia (not just Japan)

    Musketeers

    Egypt

    South/Latin America

    World War I

We know that this world has a long history of superhuman beings and that the Ouroboros war takes place across time

Having "in the past" missions or settings is a great way to show how superheroes in the past have altered the world
  15. The incarnate content of the BAF and Lambda so far has not been a real challenge...about the only real obstacle I had in the Lambda was that my computer would pull fits inside the corridors in the search for weapons section and I'd have to either die and hospital out or be ported out so that I could get back to where I could move without a slide show

everything else is rather humdrum and easy...reports from other players in my circle state that the BAF is unchallenging with even as few as 16 people...we've been wondering if we could try it with 8 or so but wonder if the game will let us...

as for the regular content...incarnate powers make things ridiculously easy...we practically ROFLstomped the Lady Grey task force...complaints have been made that players don't want to do the incarnate stuff because it makes the game too easy

repeatable content that does not require more than one person or a handful of people is necessary

not sure what you can throw at us to make it actually a challenge...all judgment is is more damage, not really a game changer, but giving everyone a quick recharging nova that doesn't kill your endurance the way a blast nova does is a game breaker

perhaps persistent effects that can be minimized by using Destiny powers that affect all players in a particular mission

or, perhaps an event that detoggles everyone on team that pulses every so often...requiring Destiny to be used to fill the gap while powers are turned back on

points that must be guarded and thus require you to leave behind a lore pet on Stay/Aggressive mode to act as a guardian while you do something else

Interface is easy to work with in current game environment, not a game breaker

judgment makes minions through bosses into cannon fodder and incarnate centric content should probably have more bosses, elite bosses, AVs and giant monsters rather than minions and lieutenants...

more hit points will not fix the problem, just make it take longer to run out a boring fight

more damage will not fix the problem as it does not require any change in tactics as they are currently used

new behaviors and new effects are needed
  16. It keeps trying to automatically update and launch Test rather then the Live server...how do I stop that?
  17. I'm a firm believer that every AT should have access to every power source and blasters, trollers and dominators are currently the only ones that can't get dark powers.

Granted, the thing that convinced me to post right now is trying to think of the best way to play Lusca Kraken from this snippet and plant/dark blast would give tentacles yes:

    Quote:
Doctor Hasuke glanced over at the Goddess that had been helping throughout the whole attack. She was one of the first to recover from whatever attack had struck the Immortals, even amongst the Gods, who mostly seemed to recover quicker. However, what he saw at the moment was a bit concerning.

"Is someone in immediate danger?" the girl asked, turning to look at what seemed to be empty air. "Then I can't help you right now."

She turned away from the empty air a moment and went back to moving through the wounded looking for the injuries that required the most immediate attention.

"I'm trying to keep more people from dying right now," she said wearily over her shoulder. "I shall try to help the already dead after that. In the meantime, all of you might find ways to make yourselves useful and see if you can find ways to direct people to the wounded. There is plenty of energy in the air to make use of."

Satomi didn't slow down as she settled on a man who looked fine.

"Internal, bleeding here," she said quickly. "I'll stabilize him."

"Miss Satomi," the doctor said, moving over to the girl's side. "Perhaps you should lie down again."

Eija looked up, eyes red out to the visible edges of the sphere.

"No, I am fine," she said sighing. "I'm not that tired yet."

"You were just talking to thin air," the man noted for a moment.

"Hmmm, oh," Eija noted. "That was a ghost."

"A ghost?" the man said. "Of course. We have Gods and Demons, why not ghosts. How many ghosts are around?"

"Too many," Eija said quietly. "Way too many."

How are things going? Kaname asked.

I think things are slowing down, Eija said. We seem to be winning.

    That is good,
a faint but strengthening sound trickled to their minds.

Kaname and Eija both paused in thought though Eija didn't let the mild surprise distract her from her medical duties.

Sousuke? was asked simultaneously with Sousuke-kun?

Affirmative the mercenary said. Apparently, I'm now a part of this link.

    One moment please.
Eija said, putting away her worry of this event as she regarded something going on around her.

Making sure to leave one hand on the patient, she stood up and looked around, putting herself protectively before the patients as a collection of men in the guise of civilians broke in to the tent brandishing firearms.

So...we're...all three connected now, Kaname said nervously.

"You are our captives and now you will cease to provide aid and comfort to the enemies of hea..." the man was interrupted as Eija turned to look calmly away from them.

Should that bother us? Sousuke asked. The conversion was supposed to prevent this.

"If you'd please, I seem to be busy," Eija told a many-braided brunette girl off to the side.

Bullets tore out of the guns directed at them as a blue field extended outward from Eija and blocked the shots. Really, Eija noted, bullets after she knew they were there and had time to prepare.

Mara, could you answer me a question, Kaname asked nervously, Eija and Sousuke hearing her thoughts as they were connected to the statement.

"That," Lusca said stepping forward with a frown, "is not funny."

Tentacles erupted out of the ground and nearly any other nearby surface as the girl walked forward. On tentacle darted in from outside the tent and pulled one of the terrorists out screaming as others lashed out to grab guns and bad guys, pulling them down to ground.

    Okay, I'm clear again.

    What occurred?
    Sousuke asked.

A handful of human cultists got into the medical area, Eija said. Lusca is handling them.

Some of the tentacles seemed to be trying to pull their targets into the ground, but finding it difficult to impossible.

A wall of the summoned things ripped up between the school girl and the cultists as she pushed them out of the area and away from the injured.

Okay, Uh, Mara said the part of us that's linked can be broken into...or we can let people into...which is what she thinks happened, Kaname said with clear relief. She suggests we get our marks checked for damage, but doesn't think it will be a problem.

Eija and Dr. Hasuke watched as two of the men, the lower half of their faces covered by a turn of the tendrils, tried to fight being pulled out of the tent as Lusca left. The men left huge furrows and traces of blood as fingers cracked in the attempt not to be pulled out into the outside.

"Why isn't she in the fight?" the doctor asked turning back to the patient as the crisis passed.

"All the category three Demons are performing support roles," Eija said, retuning all her focus on the man whose life they were trying to save. "And she's Demoness of Crushing. So..."

"Yes, I know, she's been 'applying pressure'," the doctor said. "And that display explains some of the 'bandages' I've been seeing recently."

Eija stopped and thought about that statement.

"She makes tentacle bandages?" she asked.

Is there anything that girl doesn't answer with tentacles?

Isn't Lusca category two at least?
    Sousuke asked.

Yes, but she's supposed to be limited right now, Eija said. A partial binding due to her current mental state. Enough to defend herself with.

Are you sure she's actually limited?
    Kaname asked.

    *********************

"The battle line's been pushed ten miles from here," a soldier explained to his friend. "We're guarding a bunch of civies and back rank people. There's nothing going on back here, so don't sweat it."

"Did I hear you right soldier," an angry voice came from behind the two. "Are you going to slack off on guard duty."

The two soldiers straightened up immediately as the sergeant stepped forward into view, but not to the degree that they would around an officer.

"Ah, come on Sarge, everything's finished here," the laid back soldier said.

"Have you not heard the reports of enemy agents, cultists or crap like that, filtering into the civilian population?" the sergeant demanded.

"Oh please, what's the chance that any of those are going to be around here.

A brown tentacle rippled out of the wall on one side behind the three and passed into the damaged wall across from it. All three turned to look at the reptilian, brown mass phasing through the two walls until he started pulling back rapidly.

With the sound of a high pitched scream, the damaged brick wall exploded into debris as a man in civilian clothes and dropping what looked like a second hand AK-47 as he slammed into the next, very solid wall.

The tentacle wrapped man continued clawing at his captor and screaming as the vaguely frustrated appendage had troubles getting the man to phase through the wall.

"Awww, why don't the people go through the walls too?" a girl's voice asked with an annoyed pout.

The soldiers looked over to see a teenager standing there surrounded by struggling and flailing men trying to scream out. Another tentacle grew out of the ground at her feet and whipped out to grab the man who wouldn't go through the wall, provoking a brief tug of war between the two tentacles.

"Wait, wait," Lusca said, forcibly making herself dismiss the other tentacle so that the last of the men hurtled his way towards her. "And now to save you guys for later."

All around her, save the patch immediately underneath her, it seemed as if the ground opened up to darkness and a writhing mass of tentacles ripped up out of the darkness to grab the girl's collected prisoners down into the hole.

At which point the hole vanished away, leaving behind a little plushie octopus which the girl picked up and skipped over to the three witnessing soldiers.

"Here you go! Prisoners!" she said cheerfully.

"Thanks, kid," the sergeant said, at least trying to seem non-pulsed.

"I'm going back to helping Naiki's sister! Bye!"

She waved happily before popping into smoke and vanishing from in front of them.

"Di...did a school girl just give me a plushie gate to tentacle hell?" the formerly laid back soldier asked.

"See that, soldier, the civilians are doing your job for you," the sergeant snapped at them. "Now get that plushie to a command staff."

Washu is one of the three goddesses of the OVA universe, so it would validate Mihoshi having the blood of a deity flowing through her veins, granted it's probably been watered-down. Just not sure if it would have anything to do with her being scatteredbrained here and there.
no the blood in her veins is apparently what allowed her to survive with coming out scatterbrained rather than, say, drooling and catatonic....the part that made her scatterbrained is apparently that she had an accident in a relationship with a higher power

Well, one thing I noticed, Noike was listing off Ryoko, Ryo-Ohki, Sasami and so on and in each case, she included a definitive statement about WHY they needed to be watched.

She got to "Mihoshi Kuramitsu" and apparently felt that that name was plenty of explanation and then went one
  20. So finally got to see the 3rd OAV series which sidelines Ayeka and introduces a new character who is fine and interesting, but given that the series lasts merely 7 episodes, her plot and development are rushed through pretty horribly

Anyway, this prompted me to look at TVTropes.org and find out that Mihoshi's goofiness has something of nasty back story.

For those of us that have seen most versions of Mihoshi, we know that in OAV she's pretty lazy, friendly, goofy and unfocused on a regular basis, but who does seem to pull together in a "let's get dangerous" manner whenever she knows there's something dangerous around making her more of a genius ditz than a dumb blonde.

This is as compared to the Universe Mihoshi, which barely more than an adult child and massive trouble magnet.

Anyway, the apparent reason Mihoshi is so goofy is apparently she had a relationship with a powerful entity of some kind. There was an accident and her psyche broke as a result. She survived at all because she's descended from Washu. So apparently Mihoshi is an example of what happens when making out with cthulhu goes horribly wrong.

  23. Event One: (Scion)

Sang Yoon Koga and her girlfriend, Ariel, are being harassed by a hexenwolf outside Las Vegas and having a hell of a time killing it off. Sa-Yoo's magical pet fox teleports around taunting it so that it will run from place to place while Sa-Yoo and Ariel prepare. Then Sa-Yoo, speaking from cover convinces the Hexenwolf to remove the magical belt that gives him wolf form so that the two women can give him "the surprise of a lifetime". He takes the belt off, Ariel hits him with a magical sleeping arrow.

    Event Two: (Scion)

Sang Yoon again, in a street battle involving player Hero level scions, several fenrir wolves, two lindwurms, a dragon, an enemy scion and a bunch of ninja, Sa-Yoo manages to convince one of the wolves that his pack is going to betray it and to attack the pack.

Event Three: (HERO - homebrew campaign)

The heroes have tracked down the nigh-immortal serial killer Orsornio to a corner of a spaceship and incapacitated him by reducing the oxygen levels. However, he fell unconscious both invisible and desolidified and even though they can track him, they can't touch him, except for my character, Greyskin, whose dimensional based strength allows her to touch Orsornio. While the other players discuss what to do, Greyskin takes the desolidified (except to her) Orsornio and throws him through the wall of the space ship.

    *table has dumbfounded look*

"You don't get to complain about us killing people anymore."
"It's Orsornio, he can't die! He'll come back to life...whenever he makes planetfall."

Event Four: (HERO - homebrew campaign)

A minion that specializes in defense and has two shields is facing Greyskin, a phasing-based superstrength character, considering the double shields, she performs a haymaker with her double-knockback strength (currently enhanced by another player's powers) straight down into the ground. The actual hit stuns the bad guy causing his shields to drop, then he hits the ground and the KB damage splatters him.

    Greyskin: "uhhh...ooops, sorry?"
Me: That's my presence attack on the remaining aliens.
Other Players: "Isn't that what happened to the telekinetic?"
Greyskin: "But we brought him back to life so he doesn't count."
    Other Players: "What about Orsornio?"
Greyskin: "He'll be back! He doesn't count!"

    Event Five: (D&D)

Playing a wererat (hengeyokai stats) rogue/paladin and convincing much of the party that she is just a human rogue without lying or breaking the paladin code for over a year of Play by Post game play.

    Event Six: (D&D)

We've been running the campaign ending battle set on a narrow bridge spanning a massive chasm for three hours real time with a Mystic Theurge necromancer/death priest and he's managed to successfully kill one of us (thankfully a potion we'd taken before brought him back to life) and we've thrown just about every spell and attack we had at him and vice versa so that it's beginning to look like a stalemate. Eventually something happens that shows me that the villain is vulnerable to reflex save effects, so my only reflex save effect: the Grease spell.

I cast it on his area and he slips and falls down, but manages to get back to his feet and back out of the Grease spell. He gears up and casts a boatload of buffs on himself while defending himself from our attacks. And then he's ready to charge forward.

Me: "Doesn't he have to go through the grease spell?"
    DM: "Yes, yes he does."
*the bad guy's saving throw failed, he wasn't so lucky on where he ended up this time*

    Event Seven: (Exalted)

Facing a death knight assassin who has pretty much given the combat centric characters of the party a string of responses such as "perfect dodge, perfect dodge, counter attack, perfect dodge + teleport, counter attack" every time we met him while he tanked up on essence by killing bystanders. He's attacking a military outpost and we're not sure where he is except that he is in the area. My character, Katchiko, the social monkey, runs up stairs and starts writing some words on the door of the VIP targets using Letter-In-A-Letter to put a charm into the writing and target it to a specific person. The other players end up in the room and, in the midst of planning how to deal with the coming attack.

    "I surrender"
    Other players: *stare blankly*
Me: "You can thank me later."

Event Eight: (Fate - Dresden verse)

Fighting a fae badass, fae are vulnerable to iron and steel. It burns their soul and body. He's basically the headless horseman/fae grim reaper and causing us no end of trouble while he tries to collect one of our player's heads because he had died before and been resuscitated (in his background) and was thus breaking the rules of death. I, playing the shintoist Greek-Japanese wizard "Jocaste" consider the fae armor he's wearing and use it as a focal point for a spell.

    Me: I magnetize the fae.
    GM and other Players: What?
Me: We're fighting on city street, metal, metal everywhere, including the hummer with its supply of WWII grenades and the construction site. I magnetize the Dullahan...force 10 (artillery is around 4) attack.

After that, he was still alive, but we sealed him up and then buried him in the ground magically.

Event Nine: (Fate - Dresden verse)

We've been sent to the future where a massive ritual is underway to summon the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, we're trying to interrupt the first of the four rituals (which are taking place all over the city). Jocaste sets up a circle to make a symbolic link with the bad guy's massive ritual circle which she then uses as a symbolic link to the other three circles around the city and sets up to duplicate all the massive damage the other players due across the whole ritual covering a major European city.

Event Ten: (Fate - Dresden Verse)

Channeling enough energy to and my character's life force to turn a summoned shikigami wolf into a kaiju sized critter capable of attacking and holding down the Cloverfield/Cthulhu beast attacking us out of the water so that other party members can apply their own powers.
