Quote:the chat-room is talking about stuff you're being shown, the whole point is how information that we know by watching the actions is being mishandled deliberately and innocently between the various people in the chat room towards both good and evil intentions, everything mentioned in the chat room happens on screen either before, after or sometimes during the chat room sequences
Many anime come from black and white manga. And when they're not lazy they manage to colour everything.
and no comment at all about how that style choice was driven by the writer
really, you're simply determined to dislike this and are just finding excuses so no reason to respond any more to you -
Given this is coming from manga (black and white) which itself is coming from a set of light novels (ie text) and I believe (might be wrong here) the original creator (not the animator, but the novelist) is the one that put forth that stylistic choice, it has less to do with laziness and more to do with deliberate choice by an individual that wouldn't be involved in the day to day drawing/coloring/animating

Quote:the endurance burns are bearable, these shouldn't be equivalent to even secondary setsNumbers only, I'm afraid, not customisation.
I look at the more recent power sets, and then I look at Power pools in general. Aside from the travel po- No, even that,s not true. ALL the power pools suffer from seven year old stagnation.
What I'd recommend for fixes;
Concealment
- Stealth: Reduced endurance cost, remove movement penalty, reduced recharge speed
- Grant Invisibility: Reduce Endurance cost
- Invisibility: Vastly Reduce Endurance Cost, remove 'Only Effect Self' penalty, reduce recharge
- Phase Shift: Reduced endurance cost, vastly reduce recharge, 30 second on/30 second off effect much like the PB/WS Intangible power.
Leadership
- Maneuvers, Assault, Tactics:Reduce Endurance costs
Fighting
- Tough, Weave: Reduce Endurance Costs
Medicine
- Stimulant, Resuscitate: Reduce Endurance costs
- All: Remove Interrupt
Prescence
Feck only knows how to fix this 'un...
Travel Pools
- Hover: Reduce endurance cost
- Acrobatics: Reduce Endurance cost
- Group Fly: Reduce Endurance Cost
- Team Teleport: Reduce Endurance Cost
- Whirlwind: I have no idea...
So, there we have it. I'd love to see a bit more useability added to the Power Pools
at the moment, I use whirlwind as a click turn it on and off - Stealth: Reduced endurance cost, remove movement penalty, reduced recharge speed

I tried to add a cigarette to a female model today and found none...granted, not usually a fan of having a character who smokes, but still
this is only one instance
there's also the Baron jackets which I know other people have asked for for women
and I suppose there are some female options male characters would like to have (though I don't know what) -
Quote:the only problem I have with doing it deliberately is that in the moment of time between death, the computer accepting the power activation and the animation going off, some of the enemies are going to shoot at random people which, thanks to atomic clock will go off regardless of whether they are stunned 0.18 seconds after I die due to the self-rez stun....in that .18 seconds if any squishy takes even two hits, they are likely to dieUnless the intelligent thing you can do IS die. How many Tanks or Scrappers do you know with a giant, one-hit AoE stun? I've purposely grabbed too much aggro as a /Dark Scrapper before so I can make use of the self rez's stun so the team can catch a moment of peace to overcome an extra pulled group or accidental AV.
On topic, I still want this set. While arguably Regeneration could gain the same effect of the reckless brawler who claws survivability from the brink of death, I think what can be considered an offense-driven Regen playstyle would be immensly fun to play especially with this being very toggle based allowing for more SMASH with whatever Berserker weapon you're wielding.
I wouldn't mind paying for this in the new PPoint store.
I don't mind self-rez as a contingency, love it in fact...especially in solo, the damage it does is pretty much just icing
I like resurrection as a contingency for the same reasons
it's not like Fallout or Vengeance, which are basically planning for failure without correcting the problem -
Quote:unfortunately, from what I'm hearing, Mikado's ultimate depths of character have only been hinted at in the novels and the anime doesn't get that far...I sure hope so... FCM and I watched the first episode the other night, and it was just flat-out dull. The kid was beyond annoying and, while the motorcycle-fu horseman-thing seemed like it might eventually be interesting, the five minutes it was around really didn't make up for the rest of the show.
fortunately, he is not the main character and is just one of the major vignette characters -
Quote:I don't think the difficulty scale goes that high actuallyFurther retort - they're powers that, if you don't have to use them, you haven't turned up the difficulty enough.
CoH characters are notoriously overpowered.
still, I don't think the powers are useless...though Granite would be if the rest of the set were better designed...for one thing it allows for extra aggro, ambushes, mistakes by yourself or players....or the times you just want to aggro the whole room
but if you are going intelligently, there are only a handful of things out there that inherently deserve use of a desperation defense -
Quote:I called it tossing/throwing because I couldn't think of another variation of super strength to differentiate it and I didn't want to suggest changing super strength*Channels Dave Lister*
"All right then! ****s! I'll take you all on! One at a time or all at once!!"
Nice idea though. I like a bit of knockup and knockdown, probably why I've got so many Superstrength characters. But yes, the limitations on grappling would make this difficult. However, I would LOVE to see what happens when you try to grab a Fake Nemesis. I can see a whole host of dodgy screengrabs making an appearance on the forum.
I reckon the Devs might have tossed this idea around (no pun intended) and come up with Kinetic Melee instead which almost does the same sort of thing.
and yeah, I like KM too, but I want something with the KB punch and raw untrained brute force feel of old SS with a bit more damaging AoE (as adverse hand clap) and having the thematic extra damage come as a DoT after the target lands -
Quote:and I enjoyed those old versions and argued against removing and downplaying the KBPlease refer to: old /SS, old Stone Melee, old /Axe, and old /Mace. All of these used to contain several knockback attacks. The players hated them. Yes, not everyone would have to play a new set, but I doubt that the Devs are going to give us something they had to remove from previous sets.
what I'd like is a powerset that goes toward those old playstyles that specifically designed to fit that playstyle...and yeah, I know it's unlikely since a lot of the complainers prefer to not have a double edged ability rather than take the effort to learn how to actually and effectively use it
but still, I doubt I'm the only one who wants to be able to have a drag out, knockdown fight that extends for blocks -
they're all still powers that, if you have to use them, something got screwed up on the tactical plan, because, in general, we have plenty of power to use without going to them

Quote:warning Catsi....the voice actors doing the chat room are RANDOM until they identify who's who in the actual storyit does seem interesting but the issue I have right now is they seem to be character cramming. Bleach has a similar large cast but it introduced said cast slowly over a long time to give the audience a chance to get used to it.
this one introduced no less then a dozen characters in the span of the first 10+ minutes of the episode and then expects you to keep up, as well as adding in the chat room which does have the issue of trying to figure out whos chatting at the time through only voice recognition.
its got some cool mythos in it though so Im gonna see where it goes.
one episode they're voiced by all girls, then all guys, and then shuffled, and then they finally match the actual characters once things are revealed in story
it's definitely leaning toward a vignette story style
you have little pieces of ALL THREE archs shown over 25 episodes going on in the first three-four episodes
get like 6 episodes in and they have hints of at least a fourth arch that I'm told only appears in the novels -
Quote:I like the overall concept, but I also think it's funny that what I refer to as "Desperation Defenses" other people refer to as "God mode"The way I envision it, this is the godmode tier nine to end all
Would you play it?
guess it's because my perspective is:
Unstoppable/Elude/others: have to watch the timer and be ready to ride an emotional wave (inspiration popping)
Granite: Wow, I live through almost anything, but my aggro control and damage drops down the deep, deep hole.
Rise/Soul/damaging self-rezes: lots of damage but have to die to get it, useful, but tempting...and that brief period you're dead can kill your teammates
Note, I've been watching Durarara!! and quite enjoying Shizuo Heiwajima....so this would SOOOOO fit him -
Durarara!!
the exclamation points are part of the title
Shizuo there is one of the "Secondary" characters....though, he's in every arc so far and is vitally important to one of them
same people that did Baccano!
Shizuo is listed by the writer/creator as the show's strongest characters and one of the universe's five strongest men, along with a demon, a person I've heard described as a "living black hole", another "human", and some guy whose entire schtick is "strongest man in the history of time"
everything but two bonus episodes is on Hulu right now, no telling when they'll expire it though
minor spoiler, the apparent main character (the kid introed in the first epi) is a decoy....the main is the headless biker
I might make a female version of Shizuo when titan weapons comes out....heck, given my tendency to create multiple builds of the same character to represent different moods or equipment sets, might get a SS/Will brute out to do it -
Quote:not everybody would enjoy it, sure...but I LOVE knockback, especially solo...I love throwing enemies all over the place and making them have to chase me around as I bash one of their friends, love scenery chewing fightsI don't want a melee set that is centered around knockback.
Knock-up, sure. Knockback? No way in hell. I'm not rolling something that I have to continually chase after dudes because *I* am knocking them away.
and I just wish they took damage when they landed -
Quote:that does help, making the hair too white wouldn't be appropriate....it's silver, not white....but yeah, I worried the same thing about seeming a bit flatNot sure what to say, really...
The two are very different styles.
I think the best way I can say it is that the purple one is a bit too lifeless for my tastes.
Maybe if the hair were just a bit more flowing... and maybe a bit more white.
That being said, I am not convinced it is too bad to use or anything.
Just looking at the two in comparison, those were my opinions (even without comparing, actually).
Of course, it is possible that this book veers the character into a situation more befitting of this stark look and feel. If that were a major part of the story it makes much more sense.
Hope that helps in some way!
EDIT:
Just realized that this whole post sounds way more negative about the one pic than I really feel!
The bottom line is that THAT as a cover for a novel is not a turn off to me at all.
I actually like the way it pops, and I think that is a very good quality for a book cover.
however, the consensus is that it still works as a book cover
and since next cover does delve into some of her backstory, might work -
Quote:I know....couldn't think of something betterHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
The name might need some changing.
and I was thinking of similar animations to SS, as in punches and such...since the engine makes actual grappling next to impossible....which is another reason to change the name
the main concept is knockback, however....
"Bouncer"? -
Quote:correct, if I had the skill and software, I'd look for some clips with Shizuo, the Hulk, Doomsday, and any other super-strong character I could think of with a penchant for not carrying exactly what it was they were throwinghes basically saying make hurl use the game random item generator that propel uses, so he can pull whatever out of the ground
i would actually support that for more variety and because i like how propel works like that but i hate the power because of long animation time and i dont really care for gravity in general as it currently is
however, of the Vids I immediately am aware of, Shizuo's provide the best hurl examples given that in a lot of cases, the first sign someone he's mad at has that he's around is impact by vending machine -
Quote:yeah, the first novel is already out:Both are quite good and seem to capture the character's personality. These are to be book covers for novels?
http://www.lulu.com/product/paperbac...ander/12460159
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0040GJBS2
but the second book is one of four I've been working on for trying to get out before the end of the year (I'm sitting right around 50% done on three of four projects, and slowed down by stuff I'm doing for other people and day-work because, well, have to eat)
the consensus I'm getting within the last 2-3 hours of putting up the poll is that both are good which as alleviating my worry
I must say, I like the background on magion's better than Genzoman's but it's mostly due to appropriateness to that planned story...
and Lucretia is a clothes horse and something of a costume-girl, each cover is likely to show her wearing something different, since the second book involves researching a haunting at an international airport, figured stewardess would work
quote from first book from the chapter describing Lu's apartment
The marksman looked down at the clothes and arched an eyebrow as he crossed the room and entered the bedroom, or what would be a bedroom for most people, Lucretia’s interests really came clear. Every extra bit of money she could excuse herself for spending was directed at one of two things: books and dresses.
The bedroom was full of plastic boxes holding specific outfits and their accessories, and racks holding the cheaper more run of the mill dresses Lu wore when she was working or planning to go out on the town. One tall bookshelf was filled with dictionaries from dozens of languages, the bottom row containing about fifteen English to whatever dictionaries for the tongues she had less understanding of. Three more were mostly filled with history texts, with half the last shelving unit dedicated to spy books and science-fiction. Stuffed on top of some of the books were two faded pieces of quality paper that he could vaguely see the words University of Phoenix filigreed on them.
Sightseer looked over a couple of the boxes, labeled in whatever language was native to the dress style contained within, and picked one up, almost at random. He glanced inside a moment before leaving the room, enough to confirm that the sloppy Arabic letters on the labeling meant it was something middle-eastern, and then he presented it to Lu coming out of the bathroom.

Quote:anime-style hurl?call be silly but is there any point of the video u want us to look at? or u just want anime style hurl?
that's pretty generic superstrength style hurl regardless of country of origin
I want the hurl projectile to be something more than just a rather weak seeming piece of pavement
Shizuo's tendency to grab whatever's on hand (vending machines, counters, cars, street signs, people, trees, etc) just presents a wide variety of objects to make the point -
will look similar to superstrength
Tanker Melee
1 - Slam: Very Fast, chance for knockdown (KB if enhanced), minor damage (smash)
2 - Thrust: Fast, chance for knockdown (KB if enhanced), moderate damage (smash)
3 - Dominoes: Slow, knockback, cone 15 ft, 30 degrees, moderate damage (smash)
4 - Taunt
5 - Toss: Moderate, knockback, high damage (smash)
6 - Punt: Slow, HIGH knockup, extreme damage (smash)
7 - Hard Landing: Attacks receive a second DoT (smash) dependent on the strength of the individual attack's knockback, (toggle or very long click...gives the option of either using it or not)
8 - Hurl: as Super Strength
9 - Exploding Crowd: Slow, Knockdown (enhanceable to Knockback) PBAoE 10ft, 16 targets, High damage (aware that the target max is more like a blaster nova, nothing else near to reaches novas though)
Brute Melee
1 - Slam: Very Fast, chance for knockdown (KB if enhanced), minor damage (smash)
2 - Thrust: Fast, chance for knockdown (KB if enhanced), moderate damage (smash)
3 - Dominoes: Slow, knockback, cone 15 ft, 30 degrees, moderate damage (smash)
4 - Toss: Moderate, knockback, high damage (smash)
5 - Punt: Slow, HIGH knockup, extreme damage (smash)
6 - Taunt
7 - Hard Landing: Attacks receive a second DoT (smash) dependent on the strength of the individual attack's knockback, (toggle or very long click...gives the option of either using it or not)
8 - Hurl: as Super Strength
9 - Exploding Crowd: Slow, Knockdown (enhanceable to Knockback) PBAoE 10ft, 16 targets, High damage (aware that the target max is more like a blaster nova, nothing else near to reaches novas though)
Scrapper Melee
1 - Slam: Very Fast, chance for knockdown (KB if enhanced), minor damage (smash)
2 - Thrust: Fast, chance for knockdown (KB if enhanced), moderate damage (smash)
3 - Toss: Moderate, knockback, high damage (smash)
4 - Punt: Slow, HIGH knockup, superior damage (smash)
5 - Confront
6 - Hard Landing: Attacks receive a second DoT (smash) dependent on the strength of the individual attack's knockback, (toggle or very long click...gives the option of either using it or not)
7 - Dominoes: Slow, knockback, cone 15 ft, 30 degrees, moderate damage (smash)
8 - Hurl: as Super Strength
9 - Crater: Slow, Knockdown, Extreme damage DoT (smash) 2 hits (three with hard landing)
the tier nine scrapper is basically on the idea that instead of tossing them away, the scrapper slams them straight down into the Earth
the Hard Landing would work to trigger the effects on other powers the way critical, gauntlet and other such powers work, since it will either be a toggle or a click, it should provide moderately higher damage based on KB than would be had from slotting a dam-enhancement comparable to KB enhancements in place
design ideas include the idea that brutes and tankers are more about AoE and scrappers are more about single target -
Quote:I'm using a Shizuo AMV to demonstrate a wish for Hurl to be similar to Grav's ProjectI wasn't that keen on Durarara!! early on, in fact I wouldn't have watched beyond the first 3-4 episodes were it not what my uni anime society was showing. However, I'd suggest you persevere with it, as it gets much much better later on.

Quote:He's NOT the main character...he's a decoy from Celty, who is the real main characterWell the main character is playing the country rube in the big city, way outside his comfort zone. Next is seeing how he handles life in his new school as well as the inevitable supernatural weirdness.
though it is arguable that this is more of a vignette series because most of the central characters get roughly equal screen time
well, except that Celty generally shows up in everybody else's storylines
Quote:It's written, produced, and directed by the same guys as Baccano!, which is one of my favorite shows of all time... but I'm in Tenzhi's camp. I watched three or four episodes way back when and nothing in it really grabbed me enough to merit watching more.
Quote:Uncoloured people and way too much chat room exposition so far. Seems pretty lazy with a tiny smattering of coolness. And a horrible ending theme. There's not enough good about it for me to give it any more episodes.
and the chat-room stuff gets pretty good, especially when Kanra starts really trolling
