I know I'd be a bad choice. There'd be a lot more regularly occurring non-human characters, probably of odd sorts...possibly half-blooded characters...inter-racial romance most likely would occur
Somebody would have an absolutely terrible history they're already recovering from
A nonstandard relationship would be hinted at, if just vaguely, probably involving two or more female characters
and the consequences involved would probably be a bit too harsh for a kids show -
no, just no, I'm already having to go through a lot of effort just to get my basic attacks on my SS brute to a KB of 2, she's already going to have less KB than a blaster with power thrust will without slotting save maybe on KO-Blow and Hurl....I want more knockback, not less than already exists...

Quote:you see, this is what I'd like with my Dorsal/Mikosame/Same-Bushi character and other variations....I wouldn't even mind it if I had to log out and back in to switch...but it would be nice if each was linked to the same missions.....Once upon a time, I made a suggestion for "dual class" characters which worked in pretty much the same fashion as you describe. They were kind of like multiple builds for the same character, only instead of builds, they were entire different characters who just happened to share the same name and appearance. In effect, this was an extension of my suggestion to let a player reusing his own names on the same server where he has them.
Provided each build takes up a character slot and each build needs to be levelled up separately, I don't see this as presenting a major balancing problem. If anything, it would just constitute making several characters who share the same costumes and whom you can switch between without going to character select, mechanically speaking. Conceptually speaking, it would allow us to claim that, for instance, each suit of power armour comes with different specs. One is a blaster, another is a scrapper and another still a controller. Or we could explain it as a character using multiple weapons and each one coming with its own unique stance and sensibilities.
Believe it or not, I actually agree with what you're doing here.
we have SOOOO many mission options now, I don't see anything wrong with having two or more characters linked to the same mission pool....especially since that would slow down leveling...since you're essentially splitting the xp across three characters
then I could do my Halloweener(s) character (which would essentially be 9 character slots linked, however) and when one accepts a mission, I could do that mission with any of the characters I wanted -
Quote:ah, and in my case, no one powerset can truly fill what I feel is the story for some characters....which is another reason why I like proliferation...this way, I can do a complete set that represents everything a character can do...just, unfortunately not at onceI delete because I have no use for characters that aren't true to their concept. I play for the story and the narrative, and as such if a character was "improved" by being rerolled, then I quite literally have no use for that character ever again. Just a combination of powersets and levels doesn't interest me without a story attached, and if I have a version that's truer to that story, then the old one is obsolete.
That said, I'll keep an "old" version of Xanta off-server just in case I end up hating Titanic Weapons after the fact, but I rather doubt it.
my most extreme so far are Jean Hannah (Mind/Force troller) and Hana Jin (DB/WP tank) who I haven't much played with, which are supposed to be the same person only Jin is Jean's repressed attitudes
but yeah, I'll always tend to expand my characters and see a new version as just a continuation or expansion of their story rather than a retelling -

Quote:why delete here, look what I did with Kuwiko (granted haven't played her much)I don't know... I used to think I wanted that, but then I wondered: Would I really want to have a brand new powerset, one I've never played, seen or experienced, shot straight to 50? I mean, half the fun of playing a character is getting up through the levels, becoming stronger and paying old foes back for all the crap they've given you. I'm not sure I'd use a powerset respec even if I could.
And this is coming from a guy who's planning to delete a level 50 Sword/Inv Scrapper to remake her as a level 1 Titan/Inv Scrapper... Or Brute
Kuwi is:
Dorsal 32 kat/inv
Mikosame 29 Tri/Arch
Same-Bushi 2X WP/DB
all on Freedom
then there's blood rose
Blood Rose 50 Dark/Regen (Scrapper)
Blood.Rose 22 Dark/Dark (tank)
I don't delete my old versions, I just re-equip them -
Quote:This is the main reason that I would like a single-pistol set...when I designed the way the goddess organization trains its members to fight in my Bystander book, I deliberately made them a single pistol based style combined with a single knife style (usually spring loaded in the gun handle) and considered that free hand to be for maneuvering, reloading, grenades, handling something (like a detonator), grappling, blocking and generally being out of the way and free during a fightOh, I don't disagree that a free hand would be useful for a real life encounter. I mean, much as I love pistols akimbo, anyone who's ever tripped with both his hands occupied knows how... Unfortunate this could be. Either you throw whatever it is you're carrying catch yourself from smashing your face on the ground, or else you try to fall on knees and elbows, and I happen to know from experience that that HURTS.

Quote:didn't mean to say "the look comes from" meant "my appreciation of the look comes from"I'm sure the artwork on the particular MtG card you're talking about looked good. But trust me when I say that the artwork from a MtG card didn't "invent" the idea of the "little girl big sword" thing. That concept, like most things, has been around far longer than the early 90s.

The OP doesn't understand, you don't complain about wanting stuff you already have....you complain about wanting stuff you absolutely know is unlikely in the near future, look at my track list since launch back in 04
the ability to have a skin-texture and clothes
ability to shift size and build between costume slots
power customization (before it was called that)
better selection of animal pieces
power proliferation (before it was called that)
side switching (I've had an MM on the docket since CoV launch whom I almost never played until Going Rogue came out...she's now a hero...I still have some 1-5 villains that were waiting for Going Rogue, since CoV launch, which I haven't gotten around to leveling)
my current list of wishes includes:
multi-armed builds or power sets
SS hurl being random stuff rather than just a hunk of dirt
more proliferation
incarnate-advancing content for soloists
more powersets
Trust me, I've been around a long time saying "a power in and of itself is neither good nor evil" or "why can't a blaster or controller use darkness?"
and then saying "finally woohoo!" when it actually happens
check back on my requests, you'll find most have happened and most were considered stupid or "too animeish" or "too furry" or "not right for that AT" at the time I originally suggested them -
Quote:Personally, I'm not looking too deeply into Incarnate Content until it is available in methods I don't require anybody else to do....Umm, you've been repeating content since level 1.
Does it really matter that you're defeating Death Head this time instead of Bone Rattler? You're on an identical warehouse map, fighting identical bad guys, one of which happens to have had a different name typed in by the mission writer or randomly generated from a file that has generic villain names in it. For all we know, the Skulls are just 30 dudes and we've been fighting the same guys over and over the whole time.
The entire game is repetitive. You have Defeat a Boss missions, Collect a Glowy missions, Rescue a Hostage missions, and that's pretty much it. The writers and mission designers do a pretty good job at making it not feel like that, but when you strip away all the fluff, you've been running slight variations of the same 3 missions from the day you first logged in.
I find it odd that it took Incarnate Trials before you even noticed any repetitiveness.
incarnate trials are fine for people that have a raiding mentality
but the rest of us solo-ers would like at least the ability to advance in the incarnate mechanics without dealing with the mass PuGs -
Tankers - bar none hardest to kill in the game, best aggro control, first line of defense
Brutes - good second tank/satellite tank/back-rank tank, second to blaster in minion clearing
Scrappers - torpedos, single-target specialists, can second-tank in short-term emergencies, almost the best single target damage potential (critical hit allows for overtopping a Brute's max by a lot.
Stalkers - not played much, better damage potential to scrappers, but harder to pull off consistently
Blasters - good rear support, best minion clearing.
Defenders - my mainstay team role, actually. have some dark/rad/storm/trick defenders that do quite well
Corruptors - not played much
Masterminds - for when I want to watch
Dominators - not played much -
Quote:I must admit, the little girl big sword thing is one I like, however, that look comes from a magic the gathering card way back when I still used to play, a black card from the same set that produced Thrulls there was a card that was similar to the black knight in a way that had multiple images and one of those was a woman reclining on a rock with a huge broadsword that was taller than she was.Same here. I'm not a fan of the giant swords and other huge weapons. Light poles and railroad crossings, sure. A super strength character could lug those around. But the manga-inspired swords as big as the character wielding it? Not my thing.
If you like it, enjoy. If not, I empathize.
Loved the look. -
Quote:1. gunslingers, Ninja, assassins, muskateers....these don't really make sense with titan weaponsSome days I forget that I'm excited about the new Titanic Weapons set and I get lost in unimportant squabbles over small details. However, whenever I remember how giddy-excited I am about this set, I also remember that if it turns out to be what I think it will be, I may have a LOT of characters to reroll. As such, I want to ask you guys for a bit of fairly general concept help, and hopefully a fun discussion.
Now, to try and formulate a more a more specific question (than even the one in the title), let's go with the following few:
1. Can you think of any concepts that make sense with conventional Weapon sets, but don't make sense with Titanic weapons?
2. Do you have any weapon characters? If so (assuming the set contains all classes of weapons), which ones are you leaving as is, and which ones are you remaking into Titanic weapons? Why?
3. Has hearing about Titanic Weapons given you any new ideas? Has it given you a new spin on old ideas?
2. I have a fun weapons characters
Dorsal/Mikosame/Same-Bushi is a Kat-Scrapper/Trick-Archer-Fender/DB-Tank who is a were-shark medic who uses weapons in order to keep a layer between herself and her opponent and help channel her predatory instincts...she will not be going titan as she will tends toward more meditative styles...
Castle Rat is a BS Scrapper, despite her weapons ability to shift forms, I don't think a 3'10" wererat with no real superstrength will be wielding massive weapons
Most of my others are gun-users
3. My SS/Will brute, Tender Bar will have a Titan Weapons version since seeing the proposed railroad crossing sign weapon gave me the idea for her in the first place...the SS version will not be dropped
I do not really re-roll characters, I just make a new character with a similar name and play them as the same character with different focuses -

gads, End-drain is one of the few things out there you have to actually think about and plan for, don't take it away
on a side note, since this is a generically named thread I'm going to encourage the shift toward player End-Drain as well
End-Drain is one of those status effects that is crippling against a player but rather bleh against the computer opponents
It used to be okay against some bosses, AVs and the like but then they buffed the AVs or nerfed end drain and now it's again pretty bleh
yes, I can floor a minion, lt or boss on my dark/elec/elec fender, but, unless she's solo, that's not really going to mean anything...for the most part, minions and lts die via blaster or scrapper before I can drain them completely...bosses only get drained moderately faster than they die
really, the only place end drain would be useful is against AVs and giant monsters, but, of course, that is prevented as too unbalancing...
I find the same thing annoying about range...there are enemies out there with longer range than I will ever get my non-sniper powers too, and they are not sniper-class enemies
personally, I feel that if someone puts the effort to specialize in range, then they should be able to reach extremes on their normal powers (base 80 ft) that none of the mobs outside the two snipers should be able to reach -
Quote:that's the power-simulator in the costume creator showing what siphon life looks like on that character...And thanks Lycanus, Ill play with the coloration some more. I was specifically speaking of that bright sunburst body shape in the bottom middle. Haven't been able to get anything near it myself. I've mostly been trying to make something that matches up with default energy fists however though.
Calico exists in two versions MA/Dark scrapper and Dark/Shield scrapper -
the three things I'd suggest:
a) allow customization that removes the screaming faces from the cloak of fear...I know we can't remove it from the affected targets since that's the fear icon, but would be nice if we could remove it from the character aura
b) allow white/silver colors on the tintable choices
c) allow coloration of the dark shield in shield defense (also allow a dark shield that doesn't have the faces...call it a smoke shield or something) -
using the colors in the center of the color choices produces brightly colored clouds...I'm partial to orange because I like the gold look
I have a similar coloring for my character Endcaller Mara, dark/elec fender, for when she's being especially religious -
I'd also like the option of having the Level gauge being disconnected from the health endurance bar so that I could close it without closing the health/End
I've currently got my windows down to 65% and still would like the option of having that gone -
Quote:I know I already posted this character's links, but have to post an image in response to that:Here's Nezumi. She's an Empathy/Electrical Blast Defender, all of 4 1/2 feet high, and all mousegirl.
Castle Rat is a former wererat assassin who wields the Morpheus Blade, which does not kill but only sends it's targets into a state of unconsciousness (unless they're a robot or undead)
she's also something of a cos-player, early to mid 30s -

Quote:vaguely now that you mention it, it does mind-screw....but not nearly as badly...I only caught part of one episode. Was anyone else reminded of Paranoia Agent while watching this?
they do the thing where they flash back to show you a different perspective on the same set of events, however, so you're constantly jumping around in time.
however, most of the mind screw is being shown to the audience and its more of a matter of trying to figure out if Celty and crew will see through Izaya's plots
