  1. Actually that's existed since Going Rogue. It's in that tutorial too. Was a real surprise when I discovered it!

I'm not fond of this idea outside of a few scripted scenarios, like they exist in the game now. Part of the game is that risk. Part of the joy of exporation is finally having it be safe enough to travel through to explore the new zone (or finding a way around it via getting to the level to take invisibility or such).

I wouldn't throw a fit if they made it available with all the previously mentioned limitations to prevent problems, I just would probably never utilize/purchase it.

I 3rd this! Though I just wish they'd make them global instead and call it a day. As they make more powersets, I'm sure some folks will (or have wanted) to change their main characters/badgers but don't want to lose the anniversary badges to do it.

At this point you are able to do any Mayhem/Protect mission equal or lower to your security clearance level. However, if say you elected King's Row, but your cleared for Pergrine you are lowered to a level of effectiveness in line with the level range for that Mayhem/Protect. This, I think, is a much better solution and would require very minimal coding/dialogue tweaks.
I think that's a cool idea too, but some characters don't exemplar down as well as others. While I have a few I could just run Mayhems and Safeguards of all levels over and over for the fun of it, I also have a few that would be seriously hampered trying to do random one that turns out to be at a level where they are... less than optimal. Not so cool if someone's trying to do one to unlock a contact.

However, I'd be all for them coming up with other Mayhems/Safeguards for each level range so you're not stuck fighting Malta and Carnies or PPD and Knives every time you want to do one at level 50. Even then, I'd still want the option to do the other ones as well though.

Didn't know that, thanks for the link My online time is limited so I only check a few of the boards here. I wasn't even considering this as a beta suggestion, just a general chat about what I would like to see become available, and what we'd be willing to pay to see if it was unlikely they'd do it any other way.

Never thought the Dev's were dumb, but tips/mayhems/safeguards are from many issues ago. With all the new stuff in the pipe, I figured such things may not have occured to the Dev's. I think they're actually very smart, attentive to the playerbase, and willing to listen or I wouldn't have have bothered posting this thread. It also seems to me that they're easily sidetracked by new stuff and can sometimes forget about older stuff, even if it still needs attention (but that's a different thread altogether ).

While I'm personally not keen on leveling shortcuts in general, I could see that as a 'pay for' priviledge, for one character per purchase.

I know I'd have taken advantage of it on my 3rd incarnation of my Ice/* Tank (have tried Super Strength, Energy, went back to Super Strength, and finally fell in love with Kinetic Melee for him when it came out).

I think I'd also pay a modest fee for permanently unlocking auras and capes. I know you can spend a few Astrals to give it to a character, but you still have to do that after character creation. I love that I have options now at character creation with my purchased sets, but for a few dollars more, I wouldn't mind having ALL my options available.
  4. I was just thinking about it, and something I'd pay for in the new store I bet they hadn't even thought of was the ability to unlock the Mayhem and Safeguard missions in Oroborous.

I really like doing those missions, particularly Mayhems, but they're all level locked, and repeating the Perigrine Mayhem/Safeguard really loses its luster after a while. There are times I'd like to just log in and cause chaos and mass destruction in a way that only a Mayhem could provide, or when I really want to get that basic 'feel good' heroism that comes from preventing a bank robbery and helping citizens all over the city, few things provide that as readily as a Safeguard.

Anyway, that's something I could see myself paying for in the new store. The only unfair advantage something like that would offer is easy access to some exploration badges (and yeah, the accolade) but I don't see that as a major issue really, since you still have to do the work, you just don't have to depend on hunting down a character in the right level range to get it for you. Besides, it's really not about that for me. I just really like doing the Mayhems and Safeguards.

What are things you'd pay for that don't 'break the system' that the Dev's probably haven't thought of to add yet?
  5. Not sure what's been done, if anything, but it seems to have improved as far as crashing to the log in screen for me. Been on most of the morning and haven't had the first sign of trouble.

Again, I'm on my backup computer and this being a (relatively) low-end computer, I haven't dared to do the trials yet on it (past experience even when things were good wasn't kind as far as this computer goes). Hope my main one will be out of the shop soon.

But I'm not crashing to the log in screen every other zone anymore
  6. Yeah, I'm having some bad crash issues too. They started after Tuesdays patch but now I can hardly stay logged in today.

I can log in fine, get to character select, but almost every time I try to load into a zone it loads about 1/4 of the bar sits there for a bit, and crashes out back to the log in screen.

When I DO get in, it's a random chance that every time I hit a load screen if it's going to crash out to the log in screen or not. Very annoying.

I'm on my backup system while my main one is in the shop, so it's a little clunky anyway loading into zones, but it never had problems like this before Tuesday's patch.

I had a very solid love/hate relationship with the Hollows. Once I figured out how to manuver around in it I hardly ever got perished. I kind of miss challenges like that, really. It seems to me that given enough conveniences, it diminishes the thrill of accomplishment, so it's a double-edged sword in that respect.

I'm glad it's easier to get around, but do I miss the challenge of the old days, and new players never getting to know that same thrill of overcoming the adversity of just crossing a zone? Sometimes, yes, I do miss it.

Oh the times, they are a changin'...

Anyway, Igneous bosses were easier to hunt back then, now they hardly appear at all.

Trainers can do tailor work too now? Wow. I mean, I can almost see the Atlas/Mercy/Nova ones having that availability (with the new certificate system and all- so folks can 'fix' their characters after getting them out of the creator) but... really?? I think it'd be better if they just had an extra contact in the zone nearby for that instead. I don't think Ms. Liberty or an Arbiter... and especially not Dominatrix would be keen on whipping out a sewing machine to help new characters get their pleats straight or something, yaknow?

No sir, I don't like it, I don't like it one bit. It's just a little silly regardless of convenience.

The ONLY impatience oriented thing I have ever had problems with is having to travel to a 'forced' contact. When you go to talk to one contact and BEFORE ANY IN THAT LEVEL RANGE will give you a real mission, you HAVE to talk to Lt. Wincott, a PvP zone rep, or Jim Temblor. I know they exist, I like running some of the older story arcs, and it annoys me that I just HAVE to talk to so and so first. All of those, especially the PvP ones, should be optional and not a barrier to continue play.

That's the only thing I'm impatient about for the most part in this game.

    EDIT:

I actually don't mind having to travel around for stuff, sure it's nice when something is convenient, but having to travel places also forces you to explore areas you may not go to otherwise. I'm an exploration nut anyway so what do I know?

    JET PACKS AS BACKPACK OPTIONS!!!!

*ahem* Sorry. Old desire manifesting itself in a kneejerk reaction. That aside...

I'd love to see an "Elemental" slide option. Water, Ice, Fire, Dark, Earth (almost like making an earth wave maybe?) Electricity, an all purpose "Energy" one, and maybe a few more esoteric ones like a Cloud, Rainbow, and/or a Flying Carpet slide.

All of them would use the same animation, the difference would lay in the 'slide' effect they're using.

And yes, I'd like those before other platforms or even mounts (unless the tech for mounts would allow for a Motorcycle as a Super Speed animation option...)

    * Nemesis/Fake Nemeses: Also starting to look a little low-rez, but he's a dude (well, bits of a dude) in a big, ornate, steam-powered brass battle suit. Much like Dr. V that instantly tells you what you need to know.
I have to agree with these as well, for exactly the same reasons.

I actually forgot to add Nemesis in my first post, but didn't remember/think about the Tarantulas until I read that. Yeah that is creepy. Spines don't bend that way usually.
  11. I'll start with the villains.

I'd have to say for me, my favorite visually is probably Requiem. He's about as military villanous overlord as you can get in supervillainy. He does that look even better than Reichsman in my opinion. Out of the 5th, I really like Vandal's look too.

I also really dig Dr. Vhaz and his flesh-power-armor, though you have to look carefully to see how it's a suit and not actually him. I didn't think much of it (just thought he frankenstined himself up) until I noticed the difference, and then I thought it was really freakin' cool.

    As for Heroes...

I'd have to say my favorite visually is Positron and conversely, his counterpart Anti-Matter. What? It's very cool looking power armor.

I'd like to say Statesman as well (I really like the patriotic angle) but there's just something about it that just doesn't click with me (no not the faceplate actually) I can't put my finger on it. I also like Hero-1's look as well, though like Statesman I can't put my finger on why it clicks with me the way it does.

I'll have to agree with a number of players and go with Mirror Spirit. I also really like Rose Star's look (though only have seen her in the City of Hero video).

As far as GM's go, I'd have to say my visual favorites are Lusca and Jack in Irons. Lusca really gives the feel of a Giant Monster encounter in every respect, and Jack is just really well rendered/colored/shaded and is very intimidating. He also kinda reminds of of the giant in Time Bandits (except without a boat for a hat). Conversely I'm not that jazzed about Eochai, but the pumpkin head thing just kinda puts me off (though my issues with a lot of stuff in Croatoa's a whole different story )

I'd like to point out some I don't like and why, but that's beyond the scope of what you're looking for here. I do hope you start another thread for that though. I bet you'd find those answers even more surprising and interesting.

I'm also wondering why SHIELD is acting like they just barely found the Cube in modern day when Stark found it 60+ years ago. Seems like it would have made more sense if they found the Cube along with Cap.
That's easy. The Asguardian's knew about it but couldn't locate it because of what it was. Due to the time involved they probably just assumed it lost and that they would find it eventually (they're immortal after all).

    SPOILERS...

As for S.H.I.E.L.D. knowing nothing about the cube, that's not true. They knew what the Red Skull thought it was, but probably couldn't get any more information about it than that (and were probably afraid to try too hard). Though having tied it to the Asguardians, the scientist that actually had some interraction with Thor was a prime candidate for figuring out what it was.

The Red Skull probably only tapped into the smallest ammount of power it possessed, just able to power weapons and his ship with it. Remember, the cosmic cube can do pretty much ANYTHING that can be imagined. That would barely be a blip on Odin's radar, and it was shut down before it really did anything that might. Though it adds a whole new dimension to the idea that Loki has seen it in Thor. I'm sure he knows what it is...

The Red Skull actually touching it? Well according to the original stories, he was trapped inside the 'dimension' of the cube itself, but based on what has been shown, that's highly subjective, and probably the case only in what they could mentally grasp happening to him. He's probably 'out there' somewhere. Fates' willing and the franchise continues, I have no doubt he'll be brought back. Most likely by Loki in some future movie, or at least shown the way. The Avengers movie? Doubtful, but he may be in the next specific Cap movie if they make one. That's kinda how it played out in the comics and I see no reason it shouldn't be repeated in the movies.

I'm kind of figuring that's the case, but it's just the way some things I've seen worded, 'converting to the new system' 'can claim other rewards' etc. I'm sure we won't lose access to costume pieces and other things that are auto-unlocked, or already claimed on any given character. I was just curious about the things we can claim on our vet badge list that we may not have already.

Everything points to the fact that they will still be right there in your list for every character you make, but then they say everything's getting converted to the new system... I just want to make sure they are not mutually exclusive terms.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread somewhere dedicated to going over different scenarios, but the site was the fastest way to find an official link.
And between those two highlighted statements, there's my conundrum. Say I don't claim all the current vet respec's/tailor tokens on all my characters; when the system goes live, will I lose the ones I haven't claimed on all my various characters and now just have Paragon Tokens that I have to spend later, or will I still have what is currently available on all my characters, plus those Tokens?

If it's the former, I won't be inclined to claim all my respecs that are available to all my characters and just claim them when I need them. If it's the latter, I'd rather claim all my respec's, tailor tokens, etc. I'll get the points either way from the veteran status. See what I'm saying?

Also, would one of these Paragon Tokens grant a respec to every character I have/will ever make, or will it be for only one character respec per token? That would be very different from the current system, and kind of goes into the question I'm asking here.

I know they're saying we won't 'lose' anything. The respec's and whatnot would still be available to us, but it may be quite functionally different in definition from how it works now.
  16. I'm sure this has been brought up somewhere else, but my search-fu failed me.

I know we're technically going to gain more from Freedom, but what about what we already have?

I mean, when Freedom launches, will we keep all our current vet reward badges/awards available to us in the pull-down badge menu, or do we have to claim them all before the changeup, or something else? Basically I don't claim every tailor token, respec, sprints, pets, base items, and sometimes even powers, etc. on most characters until I have need of them. However, I'd hate to lose them in the changeover.

I'm asking now because I have alt-itis, and I'd like the head's up in advance if I'm going to have to go through them and claim all this stuff on them before launch

That's kind of what I'm hoping for; something like a 2-disk set that has them all collected together. I doubt it would cost too much to produce nowadays, and with some of the stuff I've seen put on the shelves it doesn't seem too far fetched either.

  18. I don't know from WoW (never got past the newbie isle) but I don't like the new look.

I was figuring they were going to go the 'new story' route like in the animated "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" and have Nick Fury's Grandfather in there. I didn't catch his name being mentioned so I just thought it probably was him.

Howard did get married later in life. Tony's mother's name is Maria, and I believe Tony's chairity, The Maria Stark Foundation, was mentioned in one of the movies, though I could be wrong.

Just as importantly as Stark mentioning his father knowing Cap, and being one of the founding members of S.H.I.E.L.D., I wonder if they'll touch on Fury's dad serving with him as well (even though I don't recall his name being specifically mentioned I have no doubt that's who that one guy was).

As Captain America being my favorite hero, I have to say I was very happy how it all turned out (my wife teases me about how giddy I was through the whole thing). I can understand the older Bucky who winds up joining him in his hand-picked unit. It made for a faster integration of him into the storyline without the need for a lot of background.

Also, Chris Evans hit the spirit of Cap sqare on the head, and the movie did a good job of capturing the essense of the 40's and delivering it to the viewers. Those were the most important things I needed for this movie to be a success in my mind.

I'm probably going to have to go see it in the theatre one or two more times before it leaves and pick it up on DvD as soon as it comes out
