While I agree wholeheartedly, is this really the right thread?

    This is about archetypes...
  2. I've had a concept rattling around my head for a while.

The idea is that we've got this guy (girl, whatever) who's just SO CAPTIVATING that he/she can maybe talk you into doing things you might not normally be able to do, or just can put you asleep, or give you a headache.

Plus, this individual is also very charming, such that it's easy to just lose track of time due to their charms.

And so, a mind/time controller is tempting. Obviously, if I did this I'd be skipping Levitate and Telekinesis.

    ???/energy aura

been a long time for me

but I was going to go with Kinetic Melee
  4. all with concepts that fit into my stories:

    beam/time corruptor (I know, I know)

plant/poison controller (an alternate universe version of my plant/thorns dominator)

    dark/dark blaster (a mirror of a dark/dark defender I have)

oh, and finally an energy/ice stalker

  6. Honestly, I'd be happy if levels took 2-3 times as long, and if they just gave me a power AND slots.

Of course that'd make the "level cap" 24?

Absolutely. That's what I'm hoping for.
  8. here's hoping guides in the future won't yammer about IO sets
    and get back to basics

    New Patch (9/8)

    well, I can get in...

can see the training room server and all

but 'public access is not allowed.'

Aha. So basically it's a legacy issue. People haven't left them yet, despite a new tool?

A community version of "Technical debt" I suppose?
  11. Okay, apparently "LFG" is effectively global. You can see this chat channel from any zone you happen to be, as long as you're sitting on the same server.

HOWEVER, it appears that many servers, including most of the ones I play on (Liberty, Pinnacle, Virtue) have decided to eschew these for a more... cliquish, elitist "you must join this particular global channel and then be allowed by one of our moderators to chat in it" method. This just seems very inefficient, and also unwelcoming.

Why is this? Why are we avoiding this useful tool (the /lfg channel) that the developers have already created? This tool that will allow us to welcome new players (who won't know about global channels, etc.)?

    Are other servers doing this?
  12. I'll admit, 50 is not a goal of mine. It was, once, when I needed to hit it to play Khledians. (yay more alts)

49 might be a goal.. because that's my last new power. But I started in issue 0, and '40' is still embedded in my head as the 'last level.'

Now that I've played around with the Incarnate system, I can't say that 50 will ever be a goal of mine again.

This is me. 27 alts (slated to hit 40 when I21 comes out).
  14. I drink too much altohol to answer this question.

I know that's my biggest issue with Dominators. I wish they weren't balanced around that little button.
  16. I swear every 20 minutes (or less) I lag out. I get a 'mapserver disconnect' message. (Or sometimes, things just FREEZE - I can run 'round the map, but cannot activate powers... then things 'reset' and I'm back somewhere).

This has only happened in the past two days.

I play on multiple servers, I've seen this happen on Defiant, Virtue, Pinnacle and Liberty.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Oh sure. That's why the 30s are so painful for me. The 32/35/38 powers are so tantalizing that getting slots in the meantime is just... sadness-inducing.

I do like the extra slots since inherit Fitness means builds have minimal slotting until then..
I'll admit, one of the reasons I avoided Fitness for so long is that it felt like a power level BECAME a slot level. Because it was all "utility" and no "click yay."
  18. So, the way I approach the game...

there are two types of levels:

The first are Power Levels. Whenever I get a new power, I'm excited and happy. I can do a new thing! Yay! I love this feeling.

The second are Slot Levels. Whenever I get to one of these, I'm not so excited. I mean slots are nifty and all - and yay, I can improve my new things. But in the end, I'm nourishing a sense of disappointment, because I don't have a new thing to do.

so... once 32 happens, I start looking at that vast wasteland of levels that will only give me slots, before I can get another power, at 35.

And since levelling seems REALLY slow above 30, I just get dejected.

By now, I have a few 32s, one 35, one 38, and thanks to the encouragement of some friends, a 50.

But that long wasteland between 32 and 35, and 35 and 38... (and further into the 40s)

How do you guys handle it? Do slots make you happy?
  19. My earth/emp is almost 30. He's always felt tough to solo. Mostly because I specced him as a "support" character - so I wound up avoiding that sweet-damage-dealing single target immobilize. (Not sure why I made that decision; it was during chemotherapy, and thinking isn't too hot during that time - but I've been sticking with it, waiting for 32, when I hope my tier 9 pet could maybe help, especially with fortitude)
  20. even after almost a year, this thread remains helpful
    thanks!

Maybe they should just be capped at +0 recharge. So + recharge could fix -recharge, but wouldn't muck up the AIs?

Don't get me wrong... having powers and abilities that aid or support the others around you is fine and good. But Self-Reliance is the very nature of the superhero genre. Sure, they are superhero teams but those teams are usually formed to deal with Major Events or issues to big for them to handle on their own... not to take down the local drug dealer and his ninja crew.

I personally think that every AT should have the all tools it needs to solo all but the biggest threats effectively, and when those challenges present themselves, then it needs to be "all hands on deck!" time.

But that's just me (and thousands of superheroes through the ages 8D), YMMV

    Glove Slap

So if I'm reading Red Tomax right (which I might not be):

It has a mag 2 stun (PvE)
plus a 50% chance for a mag 1 stun (PvE)

which means it effectively does a 2-3 mag stun? In theory, a mag 2 stun is enough to stun a minion, or even a lieutenant, maybe? Bosses only have 3, so there's a 50% chance to stun a boss, too... right?

too bad jab only gives a 10% chance of a stun.

This sentiment I hear expressed repeatedly.

Energy aura is only available to a few ATs.

The other changes, which I mentioned above, are available for every single character (Travel powers at 4... epic pools at 35). That seems more like a reason for a respec for all players... than a change that only impacts a few.

Why would the changes to ONE PARTICULAR POWERSET that only a few members of an archetype likely have justify a global power respecification?
