On a blaster set, Time Bomb is awesome solo. Smoke grenade, cloaking device, +Stealth proc for the higher perception mobs, and set. My favored tactic with my Archery/Devices/Elec blaster is to set a bomb in one mob and Rain of Arrows/Fistful of Arrows/Static Discharge another mob. By the time the bomb goes off I'm left only with a fraction of a mob to deal with.
Traps, however, I don't think Time Bomb fits. It seems far too offensive and not at all supportive for a support set, and with the lack of cloaking device/smoke grenade it's harder to set up a good bomb. I'd like to see it changed into something similar to the Omega bomb, even if it meant less damage.
That being said, if they shaved off half of the animation times for Trip Mine, Time Bomb, and Gun Drone I'd feel more inclined to pick them all up on one character. -
This is the #1 reason I don't play a DS MM, and I will leave a team (provided it isn't doing well) if one joins. I have to mute whenever I'm at WW and some jerk has his demons sitting there growling the whole time. It's too bad because the DS powerset is interesting.
-
Personally I don't use an APP that matches one of my primaries/secondaries solely because the default colors wouldn't fit with my customized selections. I'd rather have yellow electricity paired with something contrasting like fire than the default electricity, which looks wrong in conjunction.
-
I would like more TAoE sets for sure, but I like that there's a tactical choice between slotting the set for its bonuses or frankenslotting to improve the power. A new set that removed that decision would remove that area of thinking and it TAoE would just be another "slap this crap in there and don't think about it" category.
-
A few months back I devised a set that made use of "ammo swap" (as to differentiate it from other energy sets) and "piercing rounds" (because it would be cool). I had two tier 9 ideas, one that changed the beam to a powerful "hyper beam" (a la Super Metroid) for 15 seconds, the other was just a Thunderous Blast type of thing.
Another power idea I had was along the lines of Thunder Strike, massive damage to one target and moderate damage to the surrounding targets, except in ranged form.
Whatever the case, I'm awaiting patiently until the devs decide to put such a set into the game. -

1. Please, please, PLEASE make it so lowbie contacts don't force you to go talk to another contact in another zone just to be able to do one of their missions. I've been playing for over a year, I do NOT need to talk to the Bloody Bay Liaison.
Suggestion: Make it optional through dialogue. Say the contact asks "Have you heard of Bloody Bay, a PvP zone?" You can say "no" and get that talk-to mission that would be useful for newbies, or you can say "yes" and skip it entirely.
2. Would be controversial I'm sure, but get rid of the sewers and create more level 1-8 content in Atlas. I hate to get started as a hero I have to solo mobs up to 5 to get a radio, or farm the sewers in order to access better content sooner.
Suggestion: At this point in the game it would be a pipe dream to get rid of the sewers, so have content to encourage heroes to do other things. Give access to radios to level 1 heroes and allow Atlas to host level 1-5 content.

Quote:I don't see why not, if I keep it as a two arc contest that is.My two arcs, "Consequences of War" and "Casualties of War," were the arcs I was considering. They were not created for any other contests, however, they have been entered in one other contest. I'm good with any decision you make, but I couldn't help but ask since they seem to be a good fit for your criteria.
Thanks again!
Quote:Wow, I just realized this part of the contest: February? That's a long ways away. Good luck with it in any case.
I feel like I took a risk in asking for two arcs, and hoped that with enough of a reward that would encourage more people to enter, but if enough people are vocal about that I could find some way to tweak it. Suggestions are always welcome. -
Thanks for your support guys!
Dalghryn, new arcs would be ideal, but if you or someone you know has something that fits the exact criteria it would be accepted (so long as it was not created for a previous contest). -
Quote:Not necessarily, I can't think of one attack (outside of Kheldians' form changes) that requires the use of a toggle to function. Toggles that apply constant effects are normal, whereas Devlin's would be an anomaly.Same logic applies to any toggle. Players can ask ,"Why should any AT have to toggle any power to use it when the game clearly has powers that are always on!"
Just because someone might ask a question is not justification not to do it.
Of course, that wouldn't be grounds for not implementing his suggestion, just that other fixes (such as removing the bug) would be more ideal. -
Seems needlessly complicated. Imagine new crab spiders saying "why do I have to toggle this pack to use my powers? I don't have to for anything else!"
-
While I've always been a fan of "blue mage" type things, the implementation of this is iffy. I love the concept, I'm sure there are a number of ways the devs could add this. Hope they look into this into the future.

It impresses me what's come out of the small but talented community of architects thus far, and I'd like to help take it to the next level. There's no such thing as too much good content, and with the incarnate slot on the horizon, end-game content will be in even higher demand. This is why I'm happy to announce...
The First Annual Epic Arc Contest!
What are the rules?
-The "epic arc" consists of two arcs, the first being level 45-50, the second 50+. The goal is to make a large scale, engaging, fun, and original story arc.
-In line with the theme of Going Rogue, the arc's theme should deal with "the greater good." Specifically, actions of an individual/group done based on their perception of "the greater good."
-Player morality is encouraged to be neutral in order to appeal to a larger group, but sometimes for a story to be told this is impossible.
-The arc should relate in some way to the CoH universe.
-As many people can work on one arc at once, as long as they are given credit. However, the person who turns in the arc (therefore also publishing it) will be treated as the leader, and (if picked as the winner/runner up) will receive the prizes.
-One person may be associated with up to three arcs. This includes mission design, story design, and costume design. If you want to publish three epic arcs, go for it, they're your six slots!
-No plagarism. This should be obvious, don't outright rip off anyone else's work. Allusions are perfectly acceptable, as well as works based off of another. If you're not sure where the line between "homage" and "rip-off" is, play it safe.
What criteria will the arc be judged on?
-Story: 40%
(Uniqueness: 5%)
Is the concept of the story is exceptionally unique (in the City of Heroes context, at least)?
(Integration of CoX Canon: 5%)
While not required to be the main focus, the arcs should at least be tangentially related to the CoX universe. Be careful in using major characters from the canon in that they are consistant with their other appearances ingame (unless it's for a good reason).
(Delivery: 10%)
How the story is presented to the player, be it in the form of dialogue, clues, etc. Ideally everyone on the team should know what's going on, keep in mind that not everybody checks the contact dialogue, and only the leader can see closing dialogue.
(Overall Quality: 20%)
Is the interesting? Do I want to continue from the first arc to the final? Does the end of the story give a sense of finality? (Note that if done well, deliberate plot holes and unresolved conflicts can be interesting. Be careful, but also be creative.)
-Gameplay: 40%
(Fun Factor: 20%)
Basically, is this arc one big farm or do the players feel like they are accomplishing something? Be creative, big "defeat all" maps with no additional objectives is boring.
(Difficulty: 20%)
Difficulty-wise the arc should be a challenge to a team of eight on +1x0. Avoid it being unrewardingly easy or insanely hard. Keep the level range in mind while balancing.
-Polish: 20%
(Presenation: 5%)
Spelling, grammar, punctuation, everything you learned in English class. If English is not your first language, ask a friend to proofread it for you.
(Glitches[lack of]: 5%)
Minor glitches are understandable, but if it's enough to take away from the experience then it's too much.
(NPC Costumes: 10%)
Costumes for customs, are they good? If they aren't good, is there a good reason in the story for this? While not the main focus, your characters' appearances are very important.
When is this "epic arc" due?
-Submissions will be accepted between February 1st through February 7th, barring outside interferences. Late submissions will be not be accepted, period. If you need to submit early, contact me.
What will be offered as prizes?
-There will be a prize pool will be an assortment of orange/purple recipes, shown at the bottom of this post, as well as a sum of inf.
-The winner will be awarded 2/3 of the pool inf and allowed their choice of 80% of the pool recipes, while the runner-up will be awarded 1/3 the inf and get the rest of the recipes.
-Donations to the pool are encouraged, but not required. Post a pic of what you're willing to give (to prove that you're not pulling our legs) and I'll add it into the pool. (You don't have to give it to anyone just yet, just simply don't post if you have no intention of sharing.)
-The prize pool may change depending on what the Incarnate system brings, if that content is even tradable.
-The pool will be locked February 1st.
(The above rules/criteria are subject to change at any time depending on the circumstance by their creator.)
Please post any questions, concerns, suggestions, etc. in this thread. If you like the idea, tell your friends, donate, and/or participate in some way!

You want me to do what now? It's not even Halloween yet, and I don't have a costume!
*sighs*
Fine..." -
Quote:You don't mean you took my post seriously?Am I the only one that thinks Lurker and Optical are the same exact person? Really? Is that necessary to have a second account to post in your own threads to look like you have more support than you do? If I'm wrong I apologize but there's a massive resemblance.
As far as the topic... I'd have to completely disagree with the idea on many many levels, one of the main ones being that the entire point of a secondary is that it's just that... a secondary. It's not supposed to be your main attraction, and you may not start out with something you like. I'm against this whole notion of instant gratification that's been sweeping the younger generation these days. Do something for your reward. -
wile were at it we shudnt' be forecd to pick the crapper first 8 powers wy cant we just get the 9th at lvl1? if not they culd just add 6 enhnacements slots to the ohter powers, and make IO maeking free without needing savleage.

My Dual Pistols Blaster has issues with accessing the Arachnos Mace for his Patron Power Pool. The Right Pistol and the Mace seem to be mutually exclusive in that if I choose one, the other disappears immediately. So it's either have an invisible pistol or an invisible mace.
If it means anything the set is Dual Pistols/Devices/Mace Mastery, and the bug seems to affect all pistol and mace models. -
Open up a playlist, any playlist. The song that is playing is now your inspiration for a character. Whatever you want to draw from it, be it the content of the music or lyrics, do it! Share results!
To get things started, here's Bullet Math, AR/Elec Mutation blaster:
This misunderstood teenager was a student at the Steel Canyon University until a robbery changed his life forever. An accident left him hideously mutated, and itching for revenge.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhutJCUhg-0
Link to the music, it's by That Handsome Devil.
His bio is based on the lyrics, but the costume (and choice of electric secondary) is based more on the feel of the song. I think it turned out pretty cool, I probably wouldn't have thought of it otherwise!
Any takers? -
Phantom Redemptor, my main Scrapper:
This is his new main costume, the old costume is my avatar but I don't have any better-lit pics of it. -
Old idea? Yes. Great idea? Definitely. 100% /signed for the OP.
Also adding a tram to the south-east side of Bricks would be lovely. -
I've actually respec'd a few of my characters out of Stamina already, and haven't took the fitness pool on any of my new alts. I have freespecs for a ton of my characters, so I figure I should use them now to get the fitness pool out of my build so I get another freespec on i19's release.
Inherent fitness was a nice surprise for my main, a MA/SR scrapper. I respec'd out of the fitness pool awhile ago, even before the inherent fitness announcement, because Physical Perfection/Conserve Power was enough. I19 is icing on the cake for him. -
For being portrayed as such a major villain group, they're quite boring and weak. Not entirely sure I agree with changing them into completely chaotic evil, but they could certainly use a boost in badassery. I'd like to see the differences between the Column and Council heightened by the use of the Council's Nictus and Ascendant branches, perhaps even integrating those into the Vortex/Vampyri/Warwolf branches.
I see a lot of potential in the Council that was never achieved because they were made to replace the Column.
