I'd say it was a bit cheeky to do something like that, but certainly not "rude and unprofessional".

    [/ QUOTE ]

We live in a society where we are constantly under the watchful gaze of professional complainers who see it as their duty to feel insulted on behalf of others.

People should be thankful that they have so little to complain about.

What you really meant of course was a sense of humour that matches yours...

    Self Destruct...

Be nice if the button had a nice big bright red skull and crossbones though, it looks just like any other to me and once hit you're committed.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Of course Hero arcs do suffer from the "Go to the far end of Far-far-away Zone to do this mission from me".

    [/ QUOTE ]

You forgot the follow-up - "then come all the way back to me so I can send you right back there again...and again..."
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Bit of care before you hit the pay button makes this unnecessary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would be fine if what we saw in the costume designer bore more relevance to what we actually get when we've accepted the change.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Someone who hates nemesis will have a hard time convincing himself that a high score is justified even if the arc has been masterfully put together.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm, that didn't make much sense but it seemed ok when I read it this morning...must be Sunday! Anyway, what I meant to say was people who dislike Nemesis wouldn't like to be on an all nemesis arc and may well mark accordingly. Which brings me to another point, do we get to add a proper arc description that people can read before deciding whether or not to try it out or is it a 'get the first mission before knowing what we've let ourselves in for' game?
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Oh I agree that they aren't neccesarily needed and can be tedious, but I was coming from the jumping off point of Calamity stating Any arc that has 5 kill-all's in a row will get blasted by me! which seemed a little too harsh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really do dislike kill-alls and we'll all be scoring arcs depending on what we like. Someone who hates nemesis will have a hard time convincing himself that a high score is justified even if the arc has been masterfully put together. It's human nature and I'd say the number of people who can prevent their own feelings affecting their judgement are tiny.

Having said that, I wouldn't jump on someone for the occasional kill-all but five kill-alls's in an arc of 5 missions? No thanks.
  8. As others have said, you'll get plenty of chances to do more mayhem missions. It's worth taking your time on those though, rack up as much time as you can by destroying things before trying the vault. If you run straight to the bank you'll have a trail of longbow on your tail and that won't be a lot of fun at all.
  9. I dislike kill-alls because the game STILL allows mobs to spawn or get knocked into impossible to reach places and they don't always manage to extricate themselves. You then can't complete the mission.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I'll make one brimful of snipers just for you Cal

    [/ QUOTE ]

lol you have a memory like an elephant...I haven't mentioned snipers in an age...damn things...
  11. Any arc that has 5 kill-all's in a row will get blasted by me!
I also hope that we don't get successive missions in opposite corners of the world.

As for content, I'm waiting to be pleasantly surprised. Has to be something in keeping with the overall CoX theme but different from the old missions that we've all become accustomed to. Sounds like a toughie and I haven't come up with anything yet.
  12. Many moons ago I got bored with the other games which required you to travel at a snails pace for three weeks to get to a cave where you found a few bits of gold and a weapon and some armour that you couldn't use then forced you to walk back to town to try and find some mug to buy it.

Came across this one on on mmorpg.com and haven't even looked seriously at another online game since.

    Ghosting.

It's incredibly annoying when someone uncovers the entire map on a defeat all. Once you've made some progress through the place there's no way to tell where you've been and it ends up taking twice as long as necessary.

    Please reply!

I always try to reply if I can. Having said that, if I'm afk and your tell scrolls off the tiny space allocated for it, it's out of signht out of mind I'm afraid. I don't habitually scroll up to see what I've missed.

    farming

    [ QUOTE ]
I was talking about PL rather than farming, and as the OP is a new player it's something I would advise against if he wants to get the most fun out of the game.

Farming is a different kettle of fish, and whilst I've never exactly been backward about coming forward over my personal opinion of it, from my own point of view, I think there's a stronger case to justify it than there is PL (not strong enough to persuade me that it's something I'd want to do very often, I might add )

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd agree with that. PL'ing just gets someone a high level character with no clue how to deal with situations properly. Far from being an asset to a team, people like that can be a serious handicap. Still, they pay the same to play as the rest of us so it's their choice - and we have the choice to avoid them like the plague.

I don't look for the stupidly expensive IO's, I'm not after the last tiny percentage gain in my powers so farming isn't a necessity for me but since the devs have introduced a 'currency' I can't really blame people for spending half their day doing something that would drive me round the bend with boredom.
  16. My archer has an energy secondary. That allows her to easily stun and knockback any mob that tries to get too close. The only other option would be to run away - not very heroic.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Complaining about optional content is a little silly, don't you think?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They are only optional if you don't wish to complete many higher level arcs. There are very few arcs above level 40 without EB's.

    Reworked TP pool

the limit of 100 odd metres a teleport is just frustrating. I'm sure there is some engine limitation on it

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could be, or maybe they just designed it that way so it didn't allow tp'ers to reach their destination much quicker than anybody else. Who knows...

    [/ QUOTE ]

except TPers do get to there destination much quicker than any one else any ways as TP is the quickest travel power for traveling a distance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True but not as blindingly quick as a single point and click would be...which is that teleport is all about after all...

    farming

Resistance to farming is, like assimilation, completely futile.

The devs have seen fit to change the game into something that requires ludicrous amounts of inf to obtain that (admittedly desirable but not essential) uber build. The moment a currency is created in a game, farming is the inevitable result. The fact that the devs choose not to call inf a currency is beside the point.

    Reworked TP pool

    [ QUOTE ]

When i first started playing, i had the idea that with TP i could pick a point on the map, and i would teleport there. Was kinda disappointed when i saw what it actually did.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suppose they didn't want a teleport power that made all the other travel powers completely redundant. Who would bother taking superspeed or superjump when you could just instantly teleport to any place?.

Needing to have line of sight is a pain though, if people want to risk tp'ing into a solid wall they should have that choice - just kill them instantly with the debt that would incur.Should also have a influence penalty for sheer stupidity - who on earth would want to be influenced by someone who tp'd themselves into a lump of rock...
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Hehehe that would be brilliant, "ill be with you guys in a seck" *turns on super jump*, *takes first leap* "oh [censored]..."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reminds me of Quakes "Ziggurat Vertigo" - that was one of my favourite maps...once I worked out how to navigate it properly and not kill myself with grenades...
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I usually was a bit afraid to do that and sought a team, but after this discussion I just wanted to see if that's indeed that bad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Suppose it's like everything really, some things are tougher then others.

Had a mission last night to destroy 4 Nemesis mole machines. They were level 45, don't know what they are classed as and they didn't fight back but with nearly 25k health each and armour that wouldn't look out of place on a battleship that was probably the most unnecessarily boring mission I have ever done. We had to retrieve two level 50 MM's to speed it up in the end. Even they were only chipping away at the machines health bar, albeit somewhat faster than the lvl 45 toons.
  24. There's enough lag already without having to wait for data coming from space...
  25. Absolutely unplayable from about 5 TO 6pm, mapserver errors all over the place, eventually got kicked and couldn't get back on. Judging by the mobs we were facing she'll probably be dead when I do get back on again. I just give up for now, this is completely pointless.
