Luminara you clearly are adept at reading between the lines. LOL!

    It's a gift.

Or the product of having 50,000 volts of electricity coursing through your unmentionables.

    Never really sure...

"I9 brings with it a huge new gameplay system: Inventions. Players will be able to craft Enhancements and Costume pieces for their characters using recipes, and salvage that they find while adventuring."

He mentioned Enhancements and Costume pieces, which is all great. But I was kind of hoping to also craft my own temp powers. Like a pack of 6 Web Grenades, similar to the ones you could buy from Siren's Call. I dream of being able to consturct my own gadgets and equipment and have a utility belt of temp powers.

    And chest-mounted rocket launchers.

Our motto going forward is “Listen to the players and give them what they want (within reason, of course)”. Expect a lot of oft-requested features and ideas to be implemented in the upcoming issues!

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is a clear message that chest-mounted rocket launchers are on the way. Obvious to anyone who reads it. Why, he might as well have just said, "And yes, we're adding chest-mounted rocket launchers"!

It's also a blatant admission that the lack of a ZAPPY ARROW was a serious mistake, one that they intend to rectify.

YOU HAVE TO READ BETWEEN THE LINES, PEOPLE!

    AND STOP STARING AT ME!

Congrats to Bioly on Mistress of Diamonds. Dinged 50 on Ms. Liberty of the Recluse Strike Force.

We should post screenshots of the infamous mistells to celebrate! He'd love that!

Did they change Flash Arrow? I took it and blasted a bunch of groups and I was able to tag away at a lone guy while the friends stood around blinded....worked more often than not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem isn't specifically with Flash Arrow, it's with the aggro system. Flash Arrow is a debuff, which generates aggro. Aggro is queued, then processed in order. Since Flash Arrow is typically going to be used first, before any other action, it's going to be first in the aggro queue.

Solo, this isn't really a big deal. You're taking 100% of the aggro anyway.

It's when you're on a team that the problem really manifests.

And this hasn't changed (to my knowledge), nor will it be likely to change. It's just "how it works", which is "working as intended".

I have a question for anyone who has tested this... what does more DPS:

    1) Flurry + AS
    2) Boxing + Kick + AS
    ??

    [/ QUOTE ]

I haven't tested it, but I did look over the numbers a while back, and Boxing + Kick + AS comes out slightly ahead.

    Boxing/AS/Boxing/Kick = 9.33 BI over 5.5 seconds, 1.7 DPS
    AS/Flurry = 5.95 BI over 4.6 seconds, 1.3 DPS

Kick, however, like Flurry, drops total DPS because of the animation time. Something that's frustrated me to no end because I wanted to use it for my brute. -_-

Well I recently made a kin/dark def and came looking for a few pointers and found this. Well right now I was wandering why noone has said or pointed to staking darkpit and opressive gloom to keeps things a littel for dizzy from the darkmastery set togather and how high of a buff would fulcrum shift and soul drain put the def dmg at?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The answer isn't really simple. Each buff is dependant on the number of critters available. 8 critters allows you to almost cap your damage with Fulcrum Shift, presuming you have 3 Damage SOs in your attacks (base 100%, 95% from enhancements, 25% from each critter, total 395%, 5% under the cap).

That's one of the two reasons I didn't take or recommend Dark Mastery. Fulcrum Shift does the +damage perfectly well by itself. For soloing and facing smaller spawns, using both FS and SD would be useful to get you to the cap, but as noted in the original guide, that's more time you're spending buffing, less time you're spending smooshing, and the amount of +damage you get may not be worth that trade-off.

Also, again, Thunder Strike is important to the basic build. With only pool melee attacks to deal your damage, you eventually come to appreciate having at least 1 high damage melee attack, something that Dark Mastery lacks completely.

As for the control options, there's "enough to do the job" and there's "I'm not scrapping, I'm controlling". For this type of character, you need the former, not the latter. Kinetics gives enough -damage to make extra control unnecessary, especially when you add Charged Armor or Tough to the equation. If the character is capable of tanking, there isn't nearly as much need for control. And a well built Kinetics scrapper can definitely tank.

Just a quick suggestion. I have a feeling that /Sonic might be a better fit for this than /Dark.

    [/ QUOTE ]

/Sonic would fit this type of character beautifully. Good call.
  11. Aimed Shot's endurance cost is only 5.2. You could probably save that slot for something else, or replace it with another recharge.

Fly's endurance cost was reduced in the last patch. You can save that slot as well.

Aim could use a couple more recharges, if you intend to use it often. Especially if you're going to use it in concert with Rain of Arrows with 1 recharge.

PBU would also be happier with 3 recharges. It buffs so many things, including Aid Other/Self, ToHit, damage, holds, etc., you're going to want it up more often.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Would Hasten be worthwhile?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It can be, such as if you don't have any extra slots for "when they're available" powers like Aim and PBU. Also nice to cut down on the recharge time of EMP and OSA. At that point in the game, though, you're probably not going to be using it much. You'll likely be pretty well established in how you play, have a groove going, and not too likely to change it much.

I only have Hasten on one character, though, so I'm not really qualified to discuss it.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Should I drop Temp Invul?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I never took any +resistance powers for Dancing Hawk. Just didn't feel like they were necessary. 30% -damage with PGA, 25% -recharge from Glue, near 100% damage mitigation from OSA and EMP. Between the massive amount of damage mitigation in TA and the availability of Aid Self, you're not going to be facing much that you can't survive already by that point.

    [ QUOTE ]
Do you use Aid Other/Self during battle? I'm curious if it would be worth it considering that it forces the redraw...

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I have to heal in the middle of combat, I'm either going to get defeated soon anyway or I've got all the time I need to get out of range/sight and take care of myself. Redraw is the least important factor at that point. TA has enough controls to give you the time you need, if you need to heal.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
You better pick an epic that has fire or energy damage to light your oil slick.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technology and Magic origin powers are both Energy damage. One need not sacrifice an APP selection for the sake of igniting Oil Slick when soloing.

I felt this is a needed post to inform new players of some rather useless powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are no useless powers. There may be powers that see less use than others, or that are not often used properly, but posting a totally subjective list of powers you find "useless" isn't helping new players in any way.

    [ QUOTE ]
I will not be commenting on new power sets like arrows

I use a special, Luminara-only "oh crap" power. It involves the release of bodily fluids and a loooooooooooooooooooooot of screaming. It hasn't failed me so far!

yeah, but what's the recharge time on that?

    0.38 seconds.

But it makes everything run away. I think _Castle_ snuck a Terrorize effect into it. *shakes fist*

I am NOT saying Moment of Glory is by any means a good power, but it does come in real handy in a few, exclusive, pvp situations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Every power in the game can be considered good or handy in a few exclusive * situations. That doesn't mean some of them are any more worthwhile, just that there's that once in a while time when it's not a waste of a slot in your tray.

NOTE: I have no /Regen characters (except my /Regen PB (OH YES SHE IS!)), so I'm not throwing a pity party or starting an argument, just making an observation about an observation.

NOTE NOTE: OH YES SHE IS!

As a Archery/Devices Blaster I found this guide very helpful and fun. I was curious if you think I will need Stamina.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you'll be running Cloaking Device and/or Targetting Drone often, or any toggles in addition, probably. Otherwise, you can probably do relatively well without Stamina. There's been many people who have gone without Stamina for Archery builds and who have no complaints.

  23. [ QUOTE ]
I dig the no travel power, but I'm using Flash and not Entangle to great team success. What is the drawback to doing this? (gonna save this respec to get out of combact jumping soon i think)

    [/ QUOTE ]

The occasional instant death when the spawn looks at the tank (who kindly waited for you to Flash the group), laughs, and proceeds to run straight to you and remove your liver with a baseball bat while the tank stands there smacking his Taunt key furiously and yelling at them to "Come back, I have candy and bubblegum!".

Flash Arrow is also less useful for anything but ghosting once Oil Slick and EMP Arrow are in your Little Bag o' Sticks. A ToHit Debuff doesn't mean much when entire spawns are flopping about like little fishies or are held for nearly the entire duration of the fight.

But it's really just a matter of play style. Flash Arrow fits some peoples' needs, Entangling fits others'. Where Entangling will halt one runner or let you control a situation a little better, Flash Arrow gives you the equivilant of a bit of defense and works better with a team-oriented, AoE based approach.

And they're both very useful for PvP.

The difference being that GMs are supposed to be taken on by several teams

    [/ QUOTE ]
You just hit the nail on the head! Now can someone explain the GM's in Eden scaled for 48 heroes only being taken on by at most 8?

    [/ QUOTE ]
There are GMs in Eden? I thought there were just normal DE, some Crey, and some Nemesissies.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think they mean the Quarries and the other Giant Monsters in the Eden Trial who, despite protests from Cryptic/Positron/_Castle_ and others, seem to have gotten an unannouced boost when the rest of the AVs/GMs did with Issue 7.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I haven't fought them since I6. I hope they fix that so defenders and controllers who don't have -regen can get in on some TF-tastic action. That's the only TF I actually like doing. :/
