Quote:While that is techniqually true you'd be crazy to think anyone would actually pay a monthly subscription to a game that isn't upgraded on a some what normal basis. One of the things that people forget is that the $15 a month subscription fee gives us ONLY access to the game servers whenever they are available for play. While the money collected in game sales and subscription fees does go to operations and expenses, there is never any guarantee that anything will be perfect or even nearly so - as a matter of fact, the TOS (that we agree to every time we play the game) explicitly states that conditions of game play may change at any time without notice.
I'm not arguing that lag and dc's are not aggravating and frustrating, or that the devs should not make an effort to fix issues such as these. But to argue that you pay for hardware upgrades - well, no. You don't. You pay for access to the game servers with the game as it is.

Quote:I'm arguing against blithe insistence that the devs have to fix things because the players demand it, and come here to the forums insisting they fix it right damn now. I'm arguing against the apparent notion that all problems like this are just some switch the devs can turn off and make all better.
There may be no solution to fixing the specific problem we're talking about that's affordable based on current budget and may take so much effort as not be able to fit in their other priorities.
If they had infinite resources to fix long-standing issues while continuing to deploy new features then these sorts of demanding posts would make sense. If the change required to fix the issue was trivial, these sorts of posts would make sense. The former is clearly false and the latter seems extremely unlikely. That means these sorts of demanding posts don't make sense, and that's what I'm arguing about.
It's fine and well to tell the devs we want something fixed. *I* want the lag on that TF fixed. But to say "it's been long enough, fix it now" is pretty silly.
They don't have to fix things cause we tell them to they have to do it because it is their JOB. Your putting words in peoples mouths cause not 1 person in this thread demanded "it be fixed right damn now" or "its been long enough, fix it now". Please prove me wrong and show me the quote but you can't.
So maybe go back and read some peoples post we all love this game stop getting so defensive like it's your baby.
And if we(us players) don't keep bringing up bugs like these they may never get fixed or the devs think it's acceptable because of people like you and release future content with similar problems. -
Quote:I think the thought is absurd because dumping more hardware on the backend won't solve anything.
I was only going on what UberGuy said and I quote
Quote:
a) redesigning the core game engine
b) throwing more hardware at it
c) redesigning these missions so you cannot fight as many opponents at the same time.
If more hardware will fix it and is the easiest way then you have my opinion -
Quote:I don't get what your arguing. Is it the game bugs shouldn't be fixed cause *you* don't think it's cost effective? There is no awful lag in the ITF mission 3 named by players *Lag Valley*?OK, let me explain this slowly.
We pay money now, and it pays for salaries, servers, software licenses, ISP hookups, etc., now.
To add more hardware, they have to pay for more (or better) servers, probably more software licenses, possibly more salaries, etc.
The Paragon Studio team / NCSoft probably aren't looking to decrease their bottom line. If they did it could even be bad for the longevity of the game (since it would increase the minimum subscription base required for the game to be considered sufficiently profitable to keep alive). That means that they either have to scrap something else, release employees elsewhere (possibly increasing time-to-deliver on some features), or increase our fees.
Asking them to add hardware while doing none of those things is asking for hardware for free.
Why excatly do you think by fixing severe lag in a mission that has been there from start could
Quote:either have to scrap something else, release employees elsewhere (possibly increasing time-to-deliver on some features), or increase our fees
Please tell me what excalty your arguing for and why you would think what seems like absurdity. -
Quote:Are you serious? Free? umm don't we pay to play that means it is not free. Why should every single team have to avoid this part of this map because of the lag? The last room in the last mission in the Lady Grey task force is no better. Are you serious? You're asking why they just don't throw more hardware at it?
I want to live where you do that more hardware is free.
(I regularly encounter ITF-style lag on Rikti raids. Its a function of number of players present and what powers they use. If you really want to experience ITF lag, get lots of FF or Sonic bubbles, and have someone herd Rikti with Repulsion Bubble.)
Where did free even come from? Obviously it isn't free that's why we pay, for upgrades, to the game via bug fixes or content updates. -
Quote:The way the game slows down and your powers don't recharge is a server-side problem, and there is nothing they can do about it without
a) redesigning the core game engine
b) throwing more hardware at it
c) redesigning these missions so you cannot fight as many opponents at the same time.
If those are the 3 options why don't they make the obvious choice and thrown more hardware at it? This is their mistake they should rectify it. Obviously not nearly enough hardware is there. I run Rikti raids fine almost no lag same with Hami raids but the 3rd mission in the ITF is messed. Sure you can pull them away from lag valley and everyone does now but that doesn't seem very acceptable.
as someone else said and I qoute
Quote:So in the end the lag is the players fault because we aggro too many spawns?

Fire whip is WAY cooler then some normal whip and lol realistic in a game where people shoot fireballs and ice blasts. Also Fire damage>lethal damage
I'll post where ever I like don't like it tough but I would not like to let someone anyone ruin what could be an awesome set with lame ideas -
No lethal damage MM are getting fire whips I'll accept nothing less for doms. I didnt really read that much of your post cause I've wanted this idea since I heard about MMs getting fire whip with demon summoning so.
Oh I don't really think the control whip set is that a hot a idea I just don't see a whip controlling anything. -
Quote:If farming solo is boring only because of the lack of interaction with others, why not join a Global channel or two?
If it's boring due to repetition, then that's a whole other thing, what with "boring" being a subjective thing.
Im in most or all the global channels on my server some pople chat in them and it doesn't matter to me but I feel they're there more for forming stuff up not chatting so I don't. -
Boredom is my main reason i can only take solo farming so long before I want to pull my hair out but with others on the team people are cracking jokes and just generally having a good time, yes even farmers have fun.

I ran in to some of these jokers of freedumb before a group of 8 controller all fire/kin minus 1 fire forcefield with group fly none the less on follow, all weirdo names and all the default costume multi colored like a rainbow. I was actually with a friend so we started pestering them bad bugging them to PL us and stuff just cause we thought they deserved some of their own medicine spam style. They never once responded to us and boy we tried are hardest to get any reaction we could.

Quote:If you do please post the arc number in this thread it sounds really interesting. In Moon-Huntress's origin AE arc, she actually went back into the past and stopped the the Modern Knives from delivering explosives and modern weaponry to their ancient sisters. She fought her ancient counterpart too, and saved Imperious from being overthrown. The ancient priestesses were particualrly nasty AE characters because they were Plant Control/Necro MM combinations.
I really need to recreate that arc. I accidentally deleted it a while back. -
I gotta say I like this idea alot and I think it would be on the devs favour to do something like this *if* they could. It's one thing to make content but then to be able to make a system that makes it relativly easy for the average gamer to make content is no easy feat and anyone that can do such a thing should be proud. So if they can take it to the next level I hope they do but wont be overly dissapointed if they don't.
Of course if the devs did start turning some of these arcs into the real game world it should be reserved for Devs choice and Guest Arthors. -
mmm this sounds about as original as picking one of the pre set costumes already made in the game. Maybe it's just me but I love making costumes and don't think I would ever pick from a selection of costumes some random person made no matter who they are.

Quote:Well, I took my Level 50 Bots/Traps out tonight for a trial run at -1x8 going against some crey in the Defeat Trapdoor and his allies mish. I got wacked (died) a couple of times. I ended up aggroing a couple of large groups accidentally. I guess it takes some practice in this being this is the first time I've done this x8 groups. They do appear to pack rather tightly in their groups though.
I dont farm with my MM but I do fight large spawns and what I do if their are 2 or more spawns to close for my liking set your bots to stay leave them back 15 or 20 feet and go up and pull the group back some. Bots have some KB in their arsenal and sometimes just taking a few feet back helps. That way there is less chance of them hitting mobs into another spawn and aggroing them with AOE goodness that bots have. -
I dont know if you tried this or know but the forums name and password should be the same as login info so try that, if you already did then yes your gonna have to contact Avatea via PM

So what about selling pvp IOs at a vendor type person, 1 billion you can get anyone you want or 250 Million for a random roll.
Seems like a good money sink and would be a way to up the supply of these things.
What do you guys think. -
