Its been what about two months now nearly since the refund announcement and no one started a case? Is it hesitation because the case is not as solid as they try to put on like the was hording points for months instead of actually spending them knowing an online game can end at any moment? Or is it they are just heated right now but knwo in their hearts that it is not fraud?
Thousands of dollars in lawyers fees aren't worth a few hundred dollars back from NCsoft.
If might not be illegal right now but neither was slavery 300 years ago.

It will change eventually because people are/will get sick of buying something like oh say a video game with a box(COH) then just cause it's on a computer and online they say "hey we can take this away when ever we want you only rented it" when no other console games this happens.

**** me I get the rental part I have cable and a phone and internet but this is like my cable company cancelling their service then stopping by to try and take my television and my internet provider trying to take my computer, get it? NCsoft cancelled their service and now are taking my game.

I wont play any games that are strictly online only anymore waste of money and time for myself.

That's not how this should work and it would set a very bad precedent. Heck, I'm a liberal-leaning moderate and even I wouldn't want THIS much government meddling in product design.
They were selling cash shop items up until they day before they announced the shut down of COH and even advertising them. This should be considered fraud as far as I'm concerned.

There is still people that have hundreds of dollars of paragon points they won't get refunded all because they bought them before some arbitrary date NCsoft decided upon.

But even in that realm, closing a game is like a company choosing to discontinue a product.
Closing a game causes no harm to anyone so what is the logic for making a law forcing them to keep it running? That law above is like forcing GM to continue to make the Pontiac forever. I dont believe that the closing of this game caused actual injury or danger to anyone. It's a trivial matter that shouldnt even be worth the time of the law process especially when there are more important issues that should be addressed that effects actual health and lives.
Sorry but that's not how the law works. We don't stop charging and arresting people stealing pension funds cause they aren't hurting anyone physically. Laws are made not just to protect people from harm but also secure them from fraud among various other reason..

GM can discontinue their Pontiac all they like but they can't take away the Pontiac they sold to people when they do but apparently MMO producers/developers can. This is what needs to change.

They wont come up with risky ideas with laws that make those ideas not even worth the risk.

If a law like that existed prior to COX, then I can bet that COX would have never existed and instead of been a reskinned WoW grind fest.
Jesus christ you make it sound like making game developers have offline servers would be the end of online video games as we know it, hyperbole much?

Sorry but selling something to someone one day then taking it away the next cause it's digital and your EULA BS said you could should be criminal and I hope one day it is.

Or rather, you could, but then game companies simply wouldn't make these games in the first place. Not where these laws exist anyway.
They would be forced to have an offline version off that game. There is plenty of console games that when the servers shut down you still have the offline version most the time of which online stuff(loot, costumes etc) carry over to.

I'm not a business man by any means but that sounds absolutely wrong on so many levels please let me explain myself.

Ok so say what you saying is true Paragon is pulling 8 mill a year. Well what if only 1 million is profit or even 2 million profit. At 8 million it's gonna take the team that buys the game 4 to 8 years just to pull even. Ok but you could get some savvy business men in there cut costs in all the right places half that cost of development and you may may break even in 2 years and that sounds about where I can think a potential investor would sit industry standard be damned.

Just general question to the forums how long would you want to sit on an 8 year old game before making a profit and still feel comfortable as an investor?

Only two space MMOs(niche if I ever heard of one) I can think of EVE and Start Trek of the two EVE is way more popular and is also way more hardcore. Some say the learning curve is like stepping off a cliff.

    Try again.
  13. Maybe Super Hero MMOs aren't the niche we all think they are. Maybe they have just been to easy, to care bear friendly, not enough grind no challenge so that's why it's a niche. Just to ******* easy.

People may not like the grind but they absolutely love the satisfaction and this game this just isn't enough challenge to equal the satisfaction I'm talking about. Someone needs to make a super hero MMO that is actually hard and doesn't hold your god damn hand the entire way threw. Now maybe that game will not attract this games type of user base but if you want to be big, get big, stay big well you have to stop worrying about the small fry.

You want to rule the casual market tough Nintendo already beat you by 3 decades. MMOs and casual just doesn't seem to fit all that well and so the real niche in the MMO market is trying to be casual and not super heroes.

TL;DR the real niche of MMOs is casual and not super heroes.

The more I hear about this secret project the more sad I get at never being able to play it. Sounded real promising to a gamer like myself. I hope one day in the no so distant future the beans get spilled about the details and such and hopefully gets picked up by another studio/developer what have you.

    For teh future

Put it on a console too I'm tired of playing games on mouse and keyboard not nearly as comfy as sitting back on a couch with a 40 inch or whatever TV size you got. Also give it an offline version so you know when the servers shut down we can still keep playing.

She told me not to step on the cracks
I told her not to fuss and relax
Pretty little face stopped me in my tracks
But now she sleeps with one eye open
    That's the price she'll pay

I took a knife and cut out her eye
I took it home and watched it wither and die
Well, she's lucky that I didn't slip her a smile
That's why she sleeps with one eye open
    That's the price she'll pay

I said, hey, girl with one eye
Get your filthy fingers out of my pie
I said, hey, girl with one eye
I'll cut your little heart out cause you made me cry

I slipped my hand under her skirt
I said don't worry, it's not gonna hurt
Oh, my reputation's kinda clouded with dirt
That's why you sleep with one eye open

Is that why Aion is still up and running why COX is shutting down?
  23. Wanna talk about cheesy how throwing a rock at someone here in COX they ducking behind a wall and still getting hit now that is pure cheese.

Anyway so long COX community who thinks they are better then everyone else have fun with your holier then thou attitude. I'm done here and with this game like it matters it will be in it's grave soon and no one wants to buy a 8 year old MMO with a 10 year old game engine. Just to obsolete.
