Well I'm happy with it! In fact I'm thrilled! Seems I have been spending too much time on the scrapper forums lately. I totally missed this. Thanks a ton! Very well done. I really like the coloring. Cool lighting.

    Thanks soo much.

I am glad you like it. I may do another take on Excelerant some time because I don't feel like I did your character justice.

I decided to pace myself with free sketches, since each new sketch was getting fewer views than the one before.

So I took the time to work on this. It is a copy from a book I bought a couple of weeks ago. It is not a CoH character, but I will probably go for this sort of look when I start doing commissions. It doesn't deserve its own thread, so I am bumping this one instead.
  2. I am hoping to be officially open for commissions very soon, and I would appreciate any advice as well.
  3. Yay, thanks! Congrats on your new laptop!
  4. Nice update, but I don't see my drawing of Cybernautica there.
  5. Great job Alex, very creepy! Juggy's? I can't seem to find it.
  6. I am not happy with this one at all, but I spent a couple of hours on it, so here is Excelerant for Powerforge.

BTW, if I do your character and you want a larger image, just PM me with your email.

    WIP for Desmodos

I love the way the behemoth is drooling fire. Also nice job creating an illusion of greater detail on his skin.

    Sketches by Alex

Awesome! I love the expressions. I would love to see what happens next, too.
  9. Happy birthday! I thought about maybe doing a sketch of one of your characters if I saw something interesting, but I did not find any references.
  10. You have a lot of alts, lol. I did a sketch for one of your alts. You can see the link in my free sketch thread.
  11. Techno Viking for SN0WJ0B. It is not quite what I had in mind, but I kinda like it.

Seeing people make great pictures always makes me wish I kept practicing my drawing, so I could do stuff like it.

It wasn't until after college that I started learning to draw, so it is never too late! I do wish I had started sooner, though. There are so many amazing young artists out there.
  12. I can't really help with comic style coloring, but to add more weight to what others are saying...I got to see Craig Mullins at ADAPT 2008 last year. He is an amazing digital (and traditional) painter. He pretty much started the whole "speedpainting" scene, and populated the texture overlay trick which everybody uses now. I was very surprised to hear that he doesn't use the texture trick anymore, because he sees it overused to hide bad drawing.

I have nothing against using every tool and trick one can use, but the more you rely on them without a solid drawing foundation, the more limited you will be in what you can do as an artist.
  13. Thanks all for the compliments!

Its a novel idea, yet for some reason this strikes me as a tease. :P

    [/ QUOTE ]
I understand it may seem that way, but that is not my intention. As much as I am amazed by how Alex does 100 in a month and wish I could, I am just not that disciplined. If I tried, I know I would just get stressed out and quit.

Another option would have been to let everyone post their requests and only pick the ones I feel like doing, but if you request and I never do yours, it would be even more teasing. I think everyone will be happier this way when they get something they are not expecting.

Next up is Cybernautica by Buckeyestar. She was actually going to be the first one, till I saw the birthday thread. I added some metal to her boots because I felt like it. I wanted a futuristic bike that would match her outfit, but it turned out pretty conventional because I suck at vehicle design. :/
  14. Yes, I will be doing free sketches, but there's a catch: no requests please. This is so because I want this to be something I will enjoy doing for a long time and not feel like it is some kind of work or chore I must do.

I will be lurking the fanart section for cool outfits that I want to draw. I might even do the same character multiple times if I really like them. These sketches will not be polished like commissioned pieces. Rather, I will be playing with lighting and colors, experimenting with different methods of painting, etc. If I draw one of your alts and you don't want me to post it for any reason, let me know and I will take it down.

Here's Lil Miss Goth Girl to start things off with, since it is(was?) Emmi_Blaze's birthday.
  15. Great job!

    He looks sweet!

Totally awesome! Makes me wanna buy one, and set it on my shelf, with my other miscellaneous stuffs!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks! Oh what I wouldn't do to have a 3d output device so I could actually set these things on shelves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You may want to look into 3D printing. I know of a couple of people on CGTalk who had their Zbrush stuff printed, but it sounds expensive. I heard Ownage is affordable compared to some of the other ones, and their pricing starts at $299 for an 8-inch model.
  16. You can also use chain shaped custom brushes.
  17. That is great! Too bad you missed the February one.
  18. Ooh, this one sounds fun. I am going to aim higher than 0 votes this month.

I actually can't wait to find out next month's theme.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It will probably be to draw TA in a throne...explains why no one's getting eliminated this month.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Just getting the feel for the look of our year now so this will be a simple vote.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does that mean there is no eliminations this month?
  21. It is hard to just pick one, but I will go with Projectionist. I like the use of props that look a little too big for a baby.
