I don't really have much problem with most of these suggestions either way. But I think a re-examination of how the Tier 9 Nukes work is sorely needed.
The Incarnate Judgement powers really brought to light just how annoying and archaic the idea of super hard crashes after using Tier 9 Nukes have become. I understand that there needs to be some balancing factors for those high-end powers. But when you line them up them to the Judgement Nukes which have no crashes and quicker recharges then it seems like the Tier 9 Nukes are too overly penalized in comparison.
I don't think they should go as far as to totally remove the crash effects, but I think they need to be scaled back quite a bit - maybe even as far as to reduce their effects by at least 1/2 the current penalty values. In this way the Judgement Nukes will still be better but not by such a gigantic margin.
As it is now I have Blaster Incarnates who never use their tier 9 Nukes because they now have Judgement Nukes which are so much more forgiving by comparison. Something must be done so that tier 9 Nukes are not relegated to being just the grossly inferior alternative to Judgement Nukes. -
I'd rather have more positive reinforcements (like how you can get extra Astral merits in iTrials if you manage to complete the objectives that would award you extra badges) than to have more failure scenarios. I think more people would want to focus on trying for the bonus rewards than to have to worry about failing the basic missions.

Quote:Well I have a suspicion these problems are closely related. They are both connected to how the game keeps track of your real-time account status. There are plenty of people who haven't gotten a new annual vet badge since October either.Would be nice to see, no doubt, but they should probably work on making sure they get the tokens/points situation stabilized first. I know a guy that hasn't been given any points (from his stipend) since October, and as far as I know the Devs still haven't fixed that for him.
At any rate I figure if they manage to fix one of these issues the other will be effectively fixed as well. -
I don't technically think your idea is a bad one. But considering the Devs seem to be having a hard time getting the post-CoH:Freedom annual vet badges working at all I'd say I rather have them work on getting the badges fixed before they worry about giving us progress bars for the next ones.

Look under the Menu->Options area. There are all sorts of options for turning confirmation pop-ups on or off in that area. If one exists for Inspiration deletions it'll be there. That's really the first obvious place I would have looked for such a thing. *shrugs*

Quote:Yes I would agree that depending on where you put things like the Enhancement Boosters they can provide you more or less benefit. But it's not really up to the Devs to tell us the "best" way to use them. There's a certain implied responsibility on our part to either figure our how to get the most value out of them on our own or be content to blindly spend money to get things that we don't fully understand. After all no one really said these things have to be idiot proof.I used the phrase "glass ceiling" because while there are still limitations, you have to know where to look outside the game itself to find out what they are and how they'll limit your toon's effectiveness. Meanwhile, unwitting players are buying/using these improvements not realizing they'll be useless/wasted if used on the wrong toon.
Some players of this game love to tinker with the numbers and min/max their builds as much as possible. Other people could care less about those things. It's arguable that the only people who are even really going to care about getting the most out of Enhancement Boosters are the people who are knowledgeable with the way the system works anyway. Or to say it another way the people who don't worry about min/maxing probably won't worry about "wasting" Enhancement Boosters either.
A person would only have themselves to blame if they bought a bunch Enhancement Boosters and got upset that they somehow didn't get their full bang-for-their-buck out of them. -

Quote:What do you think gives them their hive-minded super psychic powers in the first place? They're all female.... They're all psychics.... You don't think their cycles are all going to synch up at the same time?
Getting all synced up was the -first- step in Mom's plan. -
Quote:I also agree this would be a very good idea. For instance I rarely ever bother "server transferring" characters so almost any of the other options you suggested would be far more useful to me. Ultimately allowing people to choose the reward that's most desirable to them would make this feature much better for everyone.I like the idea of making the "free server change token" more flexible. Specifically, I'd like to see the server change token change into an "account service token"

Quote:Even before things like the latest enhancement boosters it was relatively easy for many builds to bump up against the limits of ED. There's only so much more anything like the boosters can do before they push us up against all of the existing hard limits. But isn't there a point where enhancement improvements can only go so far before they stop being effective at all?
So no there's not really a "glass ceiling" as much as a concept of "diminishing returns" at work here. That was probably the kind of phrase you were looking for. -
Quote:Again having a cooldown period like this is a good idea when that's the only method of control the Devs have to work with. That's why you have cooldown periods for things like getting Empyrean Merits in the iTrials.Thinking back, there are/were alot of "major character change effects" that have a cooldown time of like 18/20/24hrs so waiting till the next day is probably a good practice anyway.
But I'll drive home the point again that the control method in this case is the cost of the Alignment Token itself. It really makes absolutely -no- sense for something which is already controlled by costing 800 Paragon Points to ALSO have a cooldown period.
I suspect the only reason there may be a 20 hour cooldown here is because it's leftover code from the way the morality missions from the Tip system works. At the very least if this is WAI the Devs should have told us about that and made it impossible for people to waste Alignment Change tokens before the cooldown period is done. -
Quote:I have mixed feelings about this..Sure Pixar! but..it looks like your generic "tomgirl princess defys all the old ways and becomes a hero" thing that has been done to death.Quote:Same here. I agree we need more female protagonists in film, but trope is trope. We need more diversity in our female heroes.
On the other hand, Pixar is making this one.
Regardless it does look like it'll be a good movie anyway. -
Quote:Heh... you obviously didn't bother to read my post that came just before yours in this thread.I've yet to hear of any True costume modding, but such mods would likely only show on your end and require being loaded from the same sub-folder that the custom maps are read from.
I can assure you that quite a few costume mods are floating around, or at least used to be some years ago. -
I'd be willing to help out with any "Avoids" attempts as well. I finally finished it on my main badger a couple of weeks ago but now I need it on my second badger.
Quote:One thing I'd stress as very useful is the Incandescence power. Several timely uses of that power managed to be very helpful during my successful run at this. Also anyone who is EXPERIENCED with running MoKeyes attempts, I could use your advice.
Good luck to any going for this regardless... -
One bit of news I read said this lot went for $3.5 million. I'm sure that was a reasonable price for the collection considering its likely condition and all the other factors. Still a nice chunk of change to be lying around in someone's basement. *shrugs*

It seems fairly clear that the Devs are introducing them in a sort of "easier first, harder later" order. Your quick list here shows that what you labeled as the "easy" ones were the first ones released. The "hard" ones are the later ones.
Seems pretty likely that any new ones from now on will only continue to get harder. The Devs likely intended for them to be done in the rough order that they've been released but like Blue_Fenix implied there's no strict rule about that either way. -
Quote:This is what I don't get when people want to "port" things to portable devices. I'll bet somebody could figure out a way to port CoH to a Commodore 64 as well but who would want to put up with how god-awful slow and clunky it'd be?Then you have to consider the Vita's hardware and storage limitations.
I'm sure some time in the future there will be portable devices that will be beefy enough hardware-wise to be able to play games as well as I can play them on my fully-loaded desktop. But until that day comes I just don't see the point. *shrugs* -
Quote:Ironically as much trouble as they were the first time I've started trying for the MoKeyes badges on my second badger.Ok, dammit. You convinced Me. Im gonna form another run this friday.
Maybe your sig line is right - the Devil made those badges to tempt us forever. -
Quote:I think how .costumes files can be used to save and load costumes back and forth through the costume editor was pretty well covered. This changes what you look like to everyone else in the game.I seem to remember hearing that someone changed the costume files so that every toon appeared nude on that one person's screen, whereas everyone appeared normal on their own screen. Urban legend?
But to add to what Zombie Man said the thing you are talking about where you can "mod" your costumes so that you see different things locally only on your client is a different thing altogether. Just like you can mod your maps using the Vidiotmaps mod files there are also ways that you can "replace" certain costumes items so that when you wear item X it looks different to you. Because that kind of modification only happens on your client everyone else will see the normal version of that item when they look at you. This is how the "nude" mod works - people have tinkered with certain items so that to you you'll look nude whereas everyone else sees the normal versions of whatever you modified.
I'm not going to mention -how- you accomplish that kind of thing because I believe discussing the details is not strictly allowed here in the forums. But know that just like how the map mods work the way you can mod costumes items has been a built-in feature of this game since the very beginning. Modding costumes used to be a big thing that was popular during the first few years of the game but frankly I don't really hear about people doing it much anymore.
The key point is that costume modding is something different from using the .costume files.
It's not an "Urban Legend" as much as just something you probably won't hear too much about anymore. -
Quote:The history of this game is certainly a data point to look at when making predictions. But I don't read too much into it because even though there may never have been an Issue launched during the month of March there is no rule or law that says that an Issue can't be launched during that month. It's pretty silly to think just because it hasn't happened yet it never will.I agree with your point about the loyalty program.
Your point about history is absolutely meaningless, though. Are you including the history while Jack was running the show? Are you including the time while the games ownership was different? Do you think the history while there was a staff of 15 is comparable to when there was a staff of 50? With such sweeping changes behind the scenes, drawing conclusions based on history is a fools errand. -
Quote:Right I think they already made it clear that Staff and Beast Mastery would come after I22.Issue 22 may make it out first, but then i bet Staff and Beast Mastery will get split off and released after. I seriously doubt they want it to be a weekend of dogs chasing sticks. And since players have historically returned for new power sets, new issues and 2xp weekends, I doubt they'll put all 3 of those eggs in the same basket.
But whenever I22 launches it'll at least have the new Dark Control/Assault powersets. -
Ironically the only reason I used them was to see how much healing my friends and I did on our nightly heal farms back when the Empath badge took 1 billion HPs healed to get.
Apart from the RMT concerns I also heard that the Devs were worried about how much of a load the terminals were putting on the servers. Not sure if that was really a factor but it makes sense given how completely they've given up on the concept. *shrugs* -
Quote:I always love how people see the word "exclusive" and automatically delude themselves into thinking that it means that something will be PERMANENTLY exclusive.Because it is an exclusive item.
It was sold as part of the Collector's Edition. Take the exclusive out of the collector's edition and everyone who bought it wasted their money and will feel gypped. Without the exclusive items it was overpriced at retail and on resale markets simply outrageous. I have a friend who paid $100 for hers.
It should stay exclusive.
In order for the Devs to have satisfied any implications of the word "exclusive" all they would have had to do is not sold it outside of the Collector's Edition for like a day or so. Sure, that would have tacky and misleading on their part to have sold it separately that quickly, but there was never any promise or guarantee that anything sold in the Collector's Edition was going to remain PERMANENTLY exclusive.
It's been many years since the Collector's Editions were sold frankly that's more than long enough for anything to be kept exclusive in a game like this. I've had the Power Slide on my account for years and I couldn't care less if they chose to finally sell it separately so that others could have it. *shrugs*
Basically people who think that paying extra for Collector's Editions will grant them permanent exclusivity to items like this are woefully naive of their expectations in this matter. At best all that it means is that you'll have access to something for a time before someone else does. -
Quote:People have been asking for more "asymmetrical" costume options like your one glove idea for years.im sure im not the only one here who would like to have a toon with a one handed glove or a claw or just one hand looking different from the other in general, me personally, id pay any amount of paragon points for this option and i hope im not the only one wanting this.
Maybe someday we'll get more stuff like that. *shrugs*
