I won't argue that Cohen's style of humor is the best in the world. I don't really like him all that much myself. But something like 99% of ALL humor in the world is based on the fundamental "laughing at the silliness or misforutunes of others" concept. Just saying...

Quote:How will you handle 'adding' the 'missing' Imperial Dynasty pieces for those of us who bought the pack immediately? Do we already have the 'missing' pieces but they aren't selectable? I'm just concerned we'll have to pay for what is missing since we bought it early, since I'm unsure how you plan to 'give' those pieces to people who bought the set, unless you can identify who owns it.
TL;DR - If I have to pay extra to own everything that your front page advertised comes with the set because I wanted to support it ASAP and didn't wait for i22, I'll punch a catgirl with a baseball bat.Quote:For those of us who brought the set already, we will get these pieces free?) they'll charge us extra money for these items. There have already been several cases where updates to costume items like these have been made seamlessly without any additional costs.

Quote:Yep that's part of the problem with this idea. Once they'd let you spend PP on individual slots then you'd have to face the possiblity of losing those slots once you delete those characters. But what would happen should you delete a character from your account, as I do quite frequently?
Again I can understand that the current method of buying slots is relatively expensive. But once you've bought them you never have to worry about "losing" those slots ever again. It's effectively a permanent investment for as long as you play the game. -
Quote:This is yet another example of the Devs being way too "politically correct" for their own good.So c'mon devs/costume people, make all the symbols available to everybody! Pretty please?
I can understand when they refuse to do something like give males a version of the fishnet pantyhose because they could at least pretend to argue that it would take "too much time and effort to recreate an entire costume item to fit a different body type".
But when it comes to these planetary symbols it's an obvious case of arbitrarily removing an option from the costume creator. There's no such thing as multiple versions of symbols for each body type. There's not a "male" version of the Alien symbol and a "female" version. There's just one thing in the editor used on ANY body type. This means that they had to go out of their way to prevent Mars symbols from being used on females and Venus symbols being used males.
That level of censorship is fairly pathetic all things considered. -

Quote:While the game may have stopped delivering things which kept you interested I don't really think you can say that it stopped delivering things which are keeping other people interested. I don't really mean to sound harsh but this game churns old and new people all the time - the fact that you're not playing it anymore doesn't mean it's on the verge of collapse.Well I was certain I would be a lifetime subscriber to CoH. I also thought Freedom would be great as a VIP. Instead, I cancelled my subscription a couple of months ago and have logged about 10 minutes total as a Premium.
It just feels like there is nothing for me to do in the game any longer. There were some cool new power sets, which I loved, but it was playing the same old stuff plus a new sewer trial. I hate everything about the trials, so those are out.
I have almost 6 years in the game and the longer it goes without something new the less I miss it and the less likely I'll subscribe when a new issue comes out. I have been checking in often to see about i22 and the solo incarnate path, but as weeks go by, I find myself not caring.
All of this makes me sad. I love(d) this game. I really hope they get this out soon and it delivers. I think it is crucial for the company to really deliver on this issue and the next 1 or two.
Take care regardless... -
I'm in the "I think they're a bit too big" camp myself. But I don't think they're overly too big. If they were reduced to say 90% of their current size I think that would be a good enough compromise for everyone.

Quote:Yeah if I could magically snap my fingers I'd have a "no rings" version of this jetpack too. But since I've got at least one character who's been waiting almost 7 years for a costume item version of a jet/rocket pack I'll expect I use this regardless. It's very good work and a great set, but the one thing I was looking forward to the most is the one thing I like the least.
With all the options you're offering, I really hope it's possible to have a jetpack option without rings. Like every single other player on this game, I've always wanted a jetpack, but I can't put one that says 1950s science fiction on, really, any but the one 1950s science fiction character I'm going to have.
Making one single versatile jetpack would seal universal love for you among the subscribers. I'd even be deliriously happy with the raptor pack made available as a backpack option -- not much work involved there. As excited as I'd like to be about this pack, I can't be knowing how close we came to -- but fell short of -- getting the one thing that everyone wants.
But, still, good work!
P.S. Come to think of it if I could simply snap my fingers to get -any- jetpack I wanted then I should have done that years ago. Oh well. -
Quote:As a player I'm not necessarily against the idea of individual costume slots for individual characters for like 50pp. But there's probably at least two main reasons why that hasn't happened yet (and probably never will):See that's the problem not everyone uses more costume slots then we get free via in game methods. I think it's way to pricey also what they should do is sell this one so it opens up a costume slot for every toon on that account but also sell single ones for like 50pp that just are claimed threw email so only 1 toon gets the extra.
Why doesn't marketing think up this obvious idea I have no idea, hear the Black Pebble start doing your job and your company would make more money.
One is that it would have been a little harder to code that way. Doing something uniformly to all the characters of an account is probably far easier than tracking different numbers of bonus slots on different characters. Besides the way it works now you automatically get those bonus slots on any new character you make - there's no having to worry about who gets what slot in the future.
The other big reason is that they probably got plenty of people to buy them the way they are now regardless. Paragon Studios is not relying on a few random 50pp items in their store to make or break their company. Sure they might have lost a few 50pp sales that way, but lets just say if they actually thought they were losing out on huge profits over this then they would have spent the time and effort to make the system work the way you suggest. -
Quote:Costume slots still apply to every character on your entire account. You're not just buying "one" slot - you're potentially buying access to dozens of them.Hmm, discounted costume slot is still very, very expensive. *shrug*
This is why I've never had any problem with their cost. I bought 5 extra slots six-ish months ago and have gotten many, many hours of fun from them. To me they were well worth the price. *shrugs* -

Quote:Wasn't that the whole supposed "controversy" over whether or not they were going to allow him to show up as the Dictator in the first place? Everybody knew that if he was allowed to make an appearance like that he was going to pull -some- kind of stunt. I'm just glad someone let him do it to make fun of Seacrest, even if it was a setup from the beginning.Anyone who thinks you can just stroll into the Oscars dressed like a lunatic is dumber than a bag of rocks. This entire thing has been a setup.

Sure there was no capitalization or punctuation but really I think you're just being too picky. -
Quote:The only new costume set it might be for the Paragon Market today would be the Imperial Chinese one.Hi,
there was a bit of chat ingame just before the announcement about the new costume set being available, but that some bits were missing and the gloves had no textures, so along with the other market problems this may be what these hotfixes are about.
But just speculating here when it comes down to it.
Cheers
Was that the one you were talking about? -
Quote:You know this game actually has a history of responding to what other games are doing. For example many people thought that Issue 12 (the one that gave us Cimerora) was rushed out the door a couple of weeks too early but it all made sense when you realized that it went live the exact same day Age of Conan lauched. Clearly our Devs were motivated to get our "swords and shields" update out the same day a Conan-based game went live.Clearly they are afraid of the new game coming out that week stealing all their players and are desperately trying to retain our interest.
So the idea that they might release Issue 22 next week to counter the possible "massive effect" of the launch of that other new game is not too far-fetched. -
Sacha Baron Cohen may be overrated and/or not the most original comedian out there. But I'll always give a few points in favor of anyone who'll poke fun at the Hollywood "establishment" embodied by people like Seacrest because far too many of them are pompous twits who deserve to be taken down a peg or two.
-
Right cause this kind of thing happens ALL the time with this game. *sigh*
I'm not saying that what happened right now is good. But since this game has a historical up-time that could easily be greater than 99% of the time I really see no justification for getting all totally angsty about it. Chill and give them a few minutes to sort it out first. -
Quote:That's why any kind of AoE power you can toss out is great. All my main Fire/Rad Controller has to do to rack up 600-800 Vanguard merits a raid is Hover in the middle of the Bowl, drop Fire Imps and Hot Feet and spam EMPs, Bonfires and Judgment Pyros. My little bits of damage added to everyone else's little bits of damage keeps everything dying at a nice steady rate.Pretty sure it's still team based. I believe merits drop from mothership Rikti 100% of the time even if you just do damage to it and it's defeated by anyone else who happens to be there. With the addition of incarnate pets, a good deal of people having Judgement abilities, or just larger and tougher groups fighting/hitting more Rikti with aoes, you're likely to notice more drops. Obviously that's not exactly scientific, but there haven't been any documented changes that I can recall.

Yeah like I agreed they did argue/fight with each other. I still just don't think their "disagreements" were on the same level as TV Rick and Shane's. The TV show has been brewing this epic clash between Rick and Shane leadership of the group pretty much from the very beginning of the show. At worst Rick and Tyreese had a pretty good/friendly relationship up until very the end. And that "end" didn't last too long because Tyresse was dead not too long after that.

Quote:There's been no pre-release download yet, so I wouldn't expect i22 any time in the immediate future.Quote:I know that I didn't see a pre-release download with Issue 21.
Yes I'd agree the chances of it happening this week (even on Wednesday or Thursday) is fairly remote. But if it's going next week we'll still have plenty of time to get the patch (if any) for I22 this week. -
Quote:Prison railing? You mean when he got upset after both his daughter and her boyfriend died and were zombified?/headdesk
I've been calling him Tyrone for a while now.
Oh, there was a point where he did. Remember the prison railing?
I'll agree there were a few times he and Rick got angry with each other. But again I just don't see what happened between those two in the comic being anything similar to the constant shoving match for group leadership that TV Shane and Rick have been in for a while now. *shrugs* -
Quote:Yeah regardless of whether that was a "safe" place to dump Randall or not I think what was more interesting about that place was the bus that Shane got trapped on.Random zombies. Kinda like random cats anywhere. They walked around that whole compound and didn't see any others beyond the pile of burnt carcasses, so it was presumably "safe". It offered Randall a place to get a vehicle and supplies, so he had a fair shot.
Then Shane went and messed everything up.
Before the zombies were set loose when Shane was just scouting the bus they seemed to spend quite a few seconds having Shane realize that several (supposedly alive) people had been using the bus as shelter. It's always possible that all those people had since been zombified but it led you to wonder if there were yet other survivors in that immediate area that the might run into eventually. -
If you're talking about Tyreese then yeah he and Rick had a few meaningful talks/arguments about what to do but he never came anywhere close to chalenging Rick's overall leadership of the group as TV Shane has.

Quote:Likewise when I state that something like this is "annoying" or "not worth it" I don't personally have to come up with hard numbers to support my position when I know there are other people out there like Arcanaville who are far more willing and knowledgeable about that sort of thing. It's not just me alone blindly begging the Devs to consider something that's semi-intangible or unprovable.I don't see annoying and not worth it as driving forces that will have the "devs" say oh we agree that tier 9 powers are annoying and not worth it and therefore they need to be changed. That is what I am saying nothing more nothing less. There is no need for me to state facts beyond that point because that is the only point that "I" was making period.
Sometimes a given person just has to state the bleeding obvious and then defer to others that the bleeding obvious ALSO has real numbers to back it up.
