This is a very strong thing to have since base defense works against all attacks, even untyped onces(Except auto-hit attacks, obviously).

For example, the final radial would give you +30% defense for 10 seconds even to Hamidon's attacks.
Sure I'm not saying this DEF buff is useless. I'm just pointing out that I wouldn't base my entire build around counting on Vorpal's +DEF to be there as part of my basic static DEF total in any situation.

It's great as an Alpha Strike absorber but it's not going to last long enough against your Hamidon example unless you can kill Hamidon in less that 10 seconds. If you can do that then this buff is probably trivial to you regardless.

The truth is it would be virtually impossible to shoot the books, especially into 3 and through 5 just due to their vast size and scope. Martin adds a ton of "flavor" to his stories so I'm expecting to see a lot of combined characters etc to serve the purpose that 5 or more characters do in the books. And there obviously will be omissions of characters that don't add directly to the main plot threads. And I'm ok with that. If you love the books and want to see them on TV, you either accept that or expect to be very disappointed.
If recent shows like True Blood or The Walking Dead have taught me anything it's that I'm perfectly willing to let TV shows "deviate" from their source book formats because it's obvious no one could ever film them 100% identically. Even if you somehow got some kind of animated version it's going to have whatever story spin the animators put on it.

I realize there are people out there who get bent out of shape over things like this (especially over comic book adaptations) but I try my best to not be one of those sad folk.

I've bought about half the costume pieces and that's not even vaguely keeping up with the monthly bonus points.
Well all things being equal we know that the prices for most things will likely either go on temporary sales or permanent reductions eventually. If for whatever reason you think something costs too much now you can always wait another year or two for something to get "cheap" enough. *shrugs*

I bought things like the Rocket Board, additional costume slots and extra enhancement/market spaces months ago and I use them daily. I suppose its all a matter of what your priorities are.

True enough. Then again it has been worked on by Dink for several months now and has gone through the unique process of being "virtually peer reviewed" by the playerbase already. It's always possible at any rate - costume items are just about the most "risk free" content the Devs can offer us all things considered.

I'm not arguing against getting some kind of new highly-useful combat power. I'm just saying that just because you might not like X, Y or Z doesn't mean it's not a justifiable thing to be sold in the Market.

Let's review: This thread has already covered the main possible things that are likely going to be on sale tomorrow. If Staff Fighting is off the table then that really only leaves the Lion Pet, the Panther Travel power and the Sci-Fi costume pack.

Now we've already had a few other "4-legged rig" offerings so unless Zwill is really into either Lions or Panthers specifically then it would seem odd for him to say that tomorrow's offering is his "favorvite". His use of that word implies that what we are getting must be fairly unique and special.

Therefore I'm now highly suspecting that we are getting the Sci-Fi costume pack tomorrow.

Just making the very obvious point that some people's "useless vanity items" are actually considered cool "content" by some people.

I'm actually curious now what kinds of things you expected were going to be in the Market in the first place. Sounds like you're implying there has basically been nothing you've cared about for six months now. Why did you risk $100 on something that apparently had little chance to satisfy you at least to some degree?

I have no doubt that we'll get at least several more seasons of HBO shows out of this story. But just because it's based on an existing series of books does not automatically mean we can assume each season of the TV show will always equal exactly one book's worth of content.

As an example True Blood stuck pretty close to that pattern during its first two seasons on HBO. But by the third season the TV show started to leap ahead and draw from elements that were introduced in much later books of the Sookie Stackhouse series. The fourth season of True Blood has now touched on some aspects that didn't appear until like the 7th or 8th novel.

I suspect we'll get at least 1 or 2 more solid Game of Thrones seasons worth of TV shows that match the books. But by the time the TV show starts getting towards the end of the book series we might see the timeline compress or stretch out depending on the needs of the TV format.

EDIT: MentalMaden basically proved the point of this post while I was writing it.
  10. The idea behind the Radial Vorpal powers that provide the DEF buff is an interesting one. Since the buff itself only lasts 10 seconds and you can only get it once every few minutes it's definitely something you'd want to tailor to the type of character you're using it on. I wouldn't really factor it in as a primary source of DEF - at best it's icing on the cake not the cake itself.

I can see some value to this if you plan on using it as an Alpha strike for a melee/Tank type character. You run up to the MOB, fire off the Vorpal just before you engage, then charge on into the melee. You just have to accept that as a "Nova" power it's not going to do as much damage as most of the other Judgement options.
  11. Ironically fully slotted Omega Incarnates will likely come close to something like this anyway.

There was a time when several servers were running -daily- Hami raids.
That was mostly back during the early days before Hami-Os were nerfed down from their original 50% values.
The "math" of this seems pretty clear to me. *shrugs*
  13. The weird thing is I don't think I've ever really come close to -needing- any temp power to finish a DD. Yes that trial could probably be hard if you tried to run it with a league full of non level shifted incarnates. But I don't think I've run into a situation yet where at least half the people in a DD league aren't +3 anyway.

Even before CoH:Freedom launched I knew from what was in the beta version of the Paragon Market that there was going to be at least $200 worth of stuff I wanted. Since then I've only bought more points when I got down to a few hundred remaining. I've never really kept a major "surplus" of points locked in the Market for any length of time.

Sorry to hear you think you've wasted your money but I'm reasonably certain that this game has a few more years left to it so there's a good chance they'll eventually offer something you can use.

TBH, in the case of this Panther power I think the Stealth toggle is there more to test out the pop-up icon tray than for the value of the stealth itself. The Devs have already hinted that they plan to use that pop-up tray feature for other future content like temp powers during trials.

It's for this fact alone that makes people feel she must have some amount of "insider knowledge". I happen to think she's just such an avid player of this game that she's bound to get things right a bit more than 50% of the time.

That is my bet for the next weeks, but I would love if SF is released tomorrow more than anything because is the powerset I've been wanting since I started playing back in 2006.

Yep we have at least these 3 known things besides Staff Melee that could drop any time now. Since the Lion and Panther have been pretty "set in stone" on the Beta server for a few weeks now it seems very likely one of them will go tomorrow.

Of course in this case Paragon Studios could counter-sue NASA for lying to us about going to the Moon.

P.S. As a weird bit of trivia I'm sure most people wouldn't care about I've actually stood in the exact same physical spot this picture was taken and walked through those doors into that building in the background. Of course I was there in the mid 90s as a contractor so I didn't see any cool astronauts like these at the time but it was the same facility the Shuttle astronauts were using. It was cool to be that close to history like this.

That's fine Zwill. I don't really think anyone was expecting the Devs to spend too much time producing a major preview of everything involved. I think most of us were just hoping to get a few more official pics of all the rewards sometime in the last few months. Should have been relatively simple to do.

I just have to think there were probably at least a few people out there who shut down their VIP accounts that might have been "saved" if they had been given a bit of a hint of getting something extra for this loyalty period. There were times in these last few weeks where I almost forgot we were even "under the gun" for staying subscribed. *shrugs*
  21. I have no "privileged info" but given all the circumstantial evidence there's at least a reasonable chance that it'll happen tomorrow.
If not tomorrow then April 10th or 17th are also good possibilities.

At any rate they'll probably want it out the door soon now that the Issue 23 closed beta is already on the Beta server.
  22. Since CoH:Freedom launched about six months ago I've probably spent around $350-400 on this game - most of that on extra points to buy things from the Market. But given how many hours I've played this game since then it comes out to maybe 50 cents an hour at most. In this day-n-age it's hard to find any form of electronic entertainment that's cheaper per unit time so I consider it good value for my dollar.

We watched a mini-marathon last night catching up on the last few episodes of the first season to lead up to watching the new show last night.

All in all its been pretty good so far. I'd agree in saying that Dinklage as Tyrion is easily my favorite character thus far. I see him as the Londo Mollari of this story in terms of being the initially disadvantaged, almost comic-relief type character that no one in power takes seriously until he finally maneuvers under-the-radar into a position of being a key player in the story.

From April 2004 until September 2011 you had to pay $14.99 a month to play with ANY part of this game beyond very time limited trial accounts. While you might not agree with what is or isn't free to do now this game is FAR more f2p than it ever has been. *shrugs*
