I still cannot find in the Announcements sections where it says "staff melee is released April 17th", the first official word I discovered was today on the open forum on the Facebook event.
Since the Devs, as you imply, have always had a relatively bad time handling the official annoucement of various upcoming content releases it's probably safer to be aware of as many different "annoucement vectors" as possible and take -all- of them with a healthy grain of salt until they all start matching up. As far as Rednames are concerned I don't think you can assume that anything on facebook is any more or less "credible" than the forums. *shrugs*

I WILL say, I have been hoarding points for staff melee since it was first whispered before street fighting.
So if you've got a stash of points ready to go to buy Staff Melee no matter when it drops what's your real problem here?
If other people didn't manage their points properly that's again their fault, not the Devs'.

You knew this was coming "soon" whether that soon was tommorow or like a month from now. You've had plenty of time to manage/budget your points to buy this -whenever- it finally comes out. Whining that you might not have the points to buy it April 17th is not Zwill's fault, it's yours.

Things like this are the reason why the Devs absolutely loathe to give out even -hints- as to when things are going to be released. People will always find a way to make something negative out of it or "prove" the Devs are lying to us or whatever.

I'm content to assume the Devs always want to release everything ASAP and just let things happen when they happen. I don't need weeks or months of pre-planned scheduling to enjoy this game on a daily basis. Take a breath and this latest "outrage" will pass like all the others have.

Redside was made smaller than blueside on purpose because much of the initial negative feedback on CoH led the Devs to believe that players didn't like all the travel and all the "empty, useless" zones. Now I fully understand that doesn't complete justify the mis-matched numbers of TFs and SFs, but it was a contributing factor.

Basically we have ourselves at least partly to blame for redside's relative "smallness". *shrugs*

No matter how you try to "spin" this you aren't going to get any NEW SFs out of this. Sorry.

We could get updated blueside TFs, we could get updated redside SFs, but no matter how many of these happen and no matter how many of the old ones get shuffled into Ouro we are not going to get any new ADDITIONAL red SFs in any new level ranges to "balance" out the two sides.

Your sad attempts to quibble at the numbers and confuse the issue like this are desperate and silly.

In fact, the old ones are even solo-able because they're added through Ouro.
When/if they ever update any redside SF they'll likely do the same thing to the original versions of the SF. Zero sum game.

This might be the only viable workaround. The Devs would have to be convinced that there's enough people out there who'd be willing to sacrifice the ability to have other "cape items" like capes, veils and/or wings. *shrugs*

The OP wanted BRAND NEW SFs. I still highly doubt that'll ever happen.

The Penny Yin TF is basically an UPDATED Sister Psyche at the same level ranges. It is not a strictly NEW TF. Why don't you give these kinds of things a bit of thought before you reflexively respond and look silly when you're wrong?
  11. I'm not necessarily against the idea of getting more "redside only" SF content. But given that the focus of this game has been towards either Incarnate or "co-op" content for years I highly doubt we'll ever get a new redside only SF the same way I highly doubt we'd ever get a new blueside only TF. At best the ones we have will get updated as time goes on.

You do understand that 99.9% of anyone who's seen that trilogy watched it in the original order of New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, then Return of the Jedi. Just because you weirdly watched the movies backwards doesn't make certain things -not- spoilers.

Anything's "possible" in theory. But just because certain NPCs in this game have certain items doesn't mean players will ever get them.

As both Sapphic_Neko and Memphis_Bill have pointed out there are limitations to what the game can do and it already puts animation restrictions on specific NPCs wearing "special" items like this. The other advantage NPCs have over player characters is that NPCs don't need to be able to switch costume items in the costume editor. Since their clothes are "hardwired" they can have things that work differently than us. This is how other games get away with this kind of thing because they sacrifice costume changeability to make their hardwired animations work.

Basically unless they totally redesigned the way character body models work in this game we will always be limited in the number of "free-flowing" cloth parts we can have. Remember that this game didn't even have capes or wings at the beginning because they were (at the time) very difficult to implement. The examples you provided in this thread will likely always be beyond the capabilities of this game.

Like others have said I never really had a "problem" with the way Croatoa's spirit world thing was handled. *shrugs*

To follow along with what Xzero45 was talking about I think it might have been a better idea for the Devs to have concentrated on some really solid instance maps that could have "built upon" what First Ward started to create a meaningful spirit world version of it. By simply cutting-n-pasting First Ward into a "new" cloned zone they've just doubled-up on the same big open zone that was already becoming fairly empty to begin with. A few weeks after I23 we'll have a -pair- of nearly identical zones that are mostly empty instead of one zone full of content.

Basically Night Ward was quick-n-dirty way to allow the Devs to "claim" that they've added a whole new zone to the game because saying that sounds better marketing-wise than saying they just added a few new mission arcs and enemy groups to fight.

Convincing people like -you- is not the problem. The Devs would need to be convinced.

Either hair capes ARE a problem for low-end machines or the Devs are apparently still convinced they are.
Either way the Devs don't seem too motivated to address this for -whatever- reason. *shrugs*

It's quite possible that Black Widow could point out exact nerve clusters where Buffy couldn't. I'd simply argue that knowledge of nerve clusters is relatively unimportant when you have the strength and agility to easily shatter the bones under those clusters. If Buffy ever had the need to just "paralyze" someone she could always get Willow to cast a spell for that.

To be clear I don't think it would be impossible for Black Widow to beat Buffy. I simply would -never- bet that way...

Who knows, maybe in Praetoria it rains donuts too.

Why would I have to provide a "diagram" of this? I'm not a Dev and don't need to be to see the painfully obvious differences here.

Next time you play the game closely compare Ghost Widow's hair to the bridal veil. If you're still willing to call both of them equivalent in terms of shape and animation complexity then I'm willing to allow you to think of a good reason why the Devs have allowed one of these things to be used by players for years and the other not. I almost can't wait to see what your rationale for that has been.

As much as I'd want long animated hair for players in this game I would easily concede the point that getting realistic flowing robes/dresses would probably be more generally useful to the playerbase than the hair. *shrugs*

No, it isn't. At the very least it's much more complicated than the bridal veils. The veils are effectively "capes attached to the back of a head". The Belladonna Vetrano/Ghost Widow hair is very much unique and different from that.

Oh I'm all for the idea of the Devs "forgetting" about having to support low end machines. I'm sure the desktop I play this game on with its GeForce GTX 580 GPU and 12gb of RAM could handle "hair capes" very easily.

Unfortunately in the real world the Devs actually do need to still worry about the so-called "low end" machines because I think you'll find that a vast majority of people still play this game on "adequate" machines or less.

Your idea about making hair capes "work only for rigs running in ultra-mode" is a possible compromise solution, but even then they would have to come up with acceptable "low rez static" versions of these hair-dos to stand in for those people who couldn't see the animated versions. That alone makes the implementation of these things that much more complicated and prohibitive.

For what it's worth the "bridal veils" are much, much simpler to implement animation-wise than realistic looking hair. The veils are a single "sheet" of material whereas hair would have to be made up of hundreds (if not thousands) of elements to look realistic.

That's very much an "apples and oranges" scenario you're trying to equate here.
