  1. Yeah Lynda Carter played Wonder Woman on TV for 3 years but she's basically made a living for decades as a variety/lounge singer. She's had a few reasonably successful albums and been on all sorts of shows like the one from this YouTube video. I've never really been a fan of her style of music, but at least she can say she's had a life-long career in entertainment which not too many other people can claim.

Yeah the way they were pulled off the forums implied they were meant for some third party to get "first crack" at them.

Well all I'm saying is that they didn't let the Mecha pics last on the forums for more than about 10-15 minutes before they were quickly yanked back off and followed up by a decree from Zwill to make sure no one who kept them would re-post them.

Clearly they are being extra "secretive" about it so I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they have still not "officially" released any pics yet.
  5. Do we know for sure there were shots of the Mecha set in today's ustream? Given how quickly they pulled the pics from the forum last week I don't know if the Devs are still "acting weird" about not wanting anyone to see them yet.

Sure all of these rewards have been "scheduled" to be awarded for many months. But I honestly would be surprised to learn that the aura and CCE have been finished and ready to go for any longer than a few weeks tops. Remember that we've never actually seen either one of those up until like right about now.

Given the advantages to boosting enhancements five times, I guess I'm suriprised to hear more people aren't jumping all over these. Sure, they're not life altering, but effective enough to make it worth boosting to some degree on all my characters.
That's really the point I'm trying to make - the overwhelming majority of players aren't going to be dealing with huge numbers of Boosters to begin with. Sure there might be someone out there who bought hundreds of these things to "+5" multiple characters with. But since the current system is adequate for the job I simply suspect the Devs aren't going to waste time and effort giving us a unique way to save a handful of people a few minutes of time.

But like many ideas I'm guessing it would be relatively hard to do under the current system.

No matter how "easy" it would be it would still take some amount of time and effort from a Dev, it would still introduce a new possibility for them to inadvertently add new bugs to the game, and it would be "solving a problem" that affects very few people a very small number of the times.

If you could somehow make the case that you were going to be maxing out characters like this every day you might be able to convince them this is a QoL improvment we needed. But since most people aren't going to have to do this more than maybe a few times -ever- this is not really a "hardship" that needs to be addressed as a top priority.

From a simple engineering point of view it's not worth it for multiple reasons. *shrugs*

Yes there is the common sense idea that "just making up problems for the GMs" is a bad thing to do in general.

On the other hand there's a possibility that the longer people keep "pestering" the GMs with this kind thing the more likely they'll be to realize that it's in their best interest to finally tackle this issue an provide an automated way to do this along the lines of character renames. If the Devs don't see people actively petitioning for SG renames on a continual basis they may continue to be (apparently) unaware that we've wanted this capability for years.

I'm fairly sure they'll only be "kind" enough to do it under the present system as long as your current SG name is even remotely offensive by any stretch of the imagination. If you can't make a solid case that your current name is "evil" then it sadly won't happen.

Also the wildlings (until recent events) were not organized into large groups or armies (for the most part) so large ships and such aren't available because there is no need. So only small boats etc are available so the "leakage" from north of the wall was always managable. While there are some tribes of wildlings they are more territorial and unorganized, I think there is really only one area even considered a city/township. And for the most part the wildlings really had no desire to cross over as they see the southerners as weak kneebenders and enjoy what they consider their freedom. Thus the reduction in the size of the Night's Watch and shutting down all but three of the castles.

The concern now is exactly the fact that something is causing the wildlings to organize and to want to come south. Is it an offensive reason or are they acting defensively. That's the mystery of the first few books.
Yep I can accept the general idea that for hundreds of years the wildlings were unorganized and the Wall alone had likely been enough to keep them contained, along with the Snarks and Grumpkin.

But clearly The Wall always suffered from the fatal flaw that it could be bypassed with a decent naval force and/or enough effort going over or under it. As you say the story's been building up the idea that the wildlings are becoming organized, and it almost seemed a matter of time before someone would seriously take advantage of the Wall's static position. I mean if the Germans could bypass the strong points of Maginot Line why couldn't a bunch of wildlings eventually do the same thing given hundreds of years to figure it out.

Apart from the dramatic effect/creative license explanation we can always fall back on the "this story is based in a fantasy setting" excuse. The planet these characters live on has dragons, magic and a goofy winter/summer seasonal cycle. For all we know their version of "gold" in this fantasy universe melts at much lower temperatures. *shrugs*

Turns out the "nitpick issue" I currently have with this show/story is how "The Wall" can actually serve as an adequate barrier to all the wildness of the north when it's flanked by open oceans on both sides. I suppose the idea of just sailing a boat around the ends of the wall never occurred to anyone. Did the Romans have the same problem with Hadrian's Wall?

This way folks can apply ANY number of boosts in one go to an enhancement, which means it'd get far wider use than the option to boost by five.
This would definitely be more flexible than the hardwired "5 booster button" idea.

Still I think this kind of QoL improvment would be so far down on the list of priorities that we'd probably see CoH2 happen before we'd get this. None of these things are strictly "bad" ideas - they're just solutions to "problems" that are highly situational and relatively rare per character. *shrugs*

Probably. But if that same customer behind me had to wait an additional 6 months before he/she could buy that TV for 1/10 the price I probably wouldn't care less...

Ultimately I rather these things eventually be available to everyone in the long run than to worry about any supposed "elitist exclusivity" that would last forever.
  17. I agree it would be helpful and I can totally sympathize because I could have used it a few times myself. The problem is that it would likely only be used by tiny number of people at most a few times, ever. It's pretty clear it's something that would not be needed near often enough for the Devs to waste the effort to code a unique button for.

Sure it's a pain doing them one at a time - but once done it's done and you can always consider it the price of becoming super-duper.

I would argue that the main reason why many people think they are "junk" is that we've only had the same few 'weaksause' choices of drops for years now.

If we had more choices and the drop rates were adjusted for that wider range of hopefully more -useful- choices then I think more people would have a favorable opinion of these recipes. Any given recipe would be more unique and rare and thus intrinsically more valuable.

The system as it is now is stale and stagnate - more options could only make it better.

Eh, I'm sorry but an "explanation" like that just isn't enough to help me get over the idea that this movie is just a sad attempt to give us "Escape from New York... IN SPACE!" Guy Pearce is appealing, but he's no Snake Plissken.

I'm sure this movie has a few cool looking scenes and action sequences. I'm just not in the mood to give it the full price of a movie ticket. I'll catch it later when I can see it for free on cable or some-such.

Actually if lava damage was removed on purpose it was probably done to keep people from using it to farm credit for the epic Damage badges. Using lava was a favored method for this, especially for Masterminds. I never used lava for that because there are actually more efficient methods out there to farm credit for those badges, but the Devs might have finally decided that was a particular "exploit" they weren't willing to put up with anymore. *shrugs*

I'm actually quite sure there are a few flippers out there who are making INF this way.
