Quote:There have been many stories in Sci-Fi where the events of the story led up to explaining the origin of humans on planet Earth. An easy example of that is the conclusion of the recent Battlestar Galactic series which implied that the human race as we know it descended from the arrival of the last survivors of the "rag-tag" fleet which had been chased by the Cylons across the galaxy. How about a movie that explains why humans exist a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.
I think it'd be funny if we learned in the "last" Star Wars movie that Earth had been populated by a small group of refugee humans who had traveled a long time ago from a galaxy far, far away.

Quote:I19 (which will most likely be happening sometime in November) is going to be giving us not only Inherent Fitness which will allow us to get other new powers that will likely need Purple IOs but with the Incarnate system we are (IIRC) going to be getting a third build slot. That's a whole lot of respecing that's going to be happening and a whole lot of new slots that are going to need a bunch of new Purple IOs.I'd say more people are buying up purples to outfit their 50s in hopes of getting a leg up on the I19 content.
Seems pretty obvious to me why people are preparing/hording for that.

Quote:Throughout the history of this game (and probably all MMOs) there's always been at least a few people who like to sprint to a level cap just to be able to say they were "first" to do it. I remember when both CoH and CoV first started (and when the level caps of those two respectively went from 40 to 50) there was usually always someone around who'd claim they got to the cap within 24 to 48 hours after whatever it was went live.Oh come now... surely someone has hit 50 in praetoria by now. That's gotta be on someone's "must do before anyone else does" list.
By that same reasoning I'm sure the first 50s in Praetoria happened within the first few days of the launch of Going Rogue.

Also make sure you have ALL the badges you can get.
I17 in particular added new explore badges to the game.
You can always check with what's listed on sites like Paragonwiki.
Good Luck.

I could see the argument for making some of these things a bit more rare to make them seem a bit more special. I think the Devs could keep things simple and just cut how often these things happen down by 1/2. That should be enough to accomplish most of what you're talking about.

Obviously Lucas has made an unparalleled impact on the history of movies and his legacy for the entire movie industry will be felt for decades to come. Will I likely go spend good money on the 3D re-releases of movies I've already seen dozens of times already? Very probably...
But even after all that it doesn't really stop me from thinking about what the future of Star Wars will be after Lucas no longer has direct control over it. I hope it will have a good future DESPITE anything Lucas has or will do for it.

Quote:I agree that outleveled Mayhem/Safeguard badges can be a pain to get but they are still doable. In other words, if you out level the Mayhem/Safeguard Mission that you need the badge from, you'll have to find someone else who's in the right level range that you can team with, or you can't get 'em.
I think there's a definite difference between "very annoying" to get and "impossible" to get.
People have been suggesting various ways to "fix" being able to outlevel Mayhems/Safeguards.
Hopefully the Devs will actually decide to implement one of those ways eventually. -
Quote:Might as well laugh about this kind of thing now... while we still can. Then the poo will hit the fan. We won't know who is human and who is a bot.
Oh look we have new neighbors honey let's go introduce ourselves.
NO they could be robots.
But honey I am a robot.

Quote:Oh I have no doubt Lucas already has an elaborate plan for how he wants his "vision" of Star Wars to live on after he dies. And no I was not specifically assuming any particular people (like Berman and Braga) get their hands on it.Keep Berman and Braga away from Star Wars.
Hopefully Lucas has it arranged for his kids to inherit the Lucas Empire and then they can make the decisions. Keep it in the family.
My point was is that no matter who's "left in charge" so to speak things WILL be different once Lucas is not directly calling the shots. It may turn out to be a good thing or a bad thing. But what is clear is that things that Lucas is currently "stubborn" about now could eventually change and evolve as time goes on. -
I know plenty of people now have 2 (or more) displays for their computer setups. But for the Devs to spend any time making their game specifically support that kind of thing they'd have to decide that enough "average" people would make good use of it. I'm just not sure multi-screen computers have become quite common enough to justify it. If anything larger single screens are getting good enough and cheap enough that I suspect more people will eventually be going the "huge single screen" route instead of the "array of small screens" approach.
Obviously time will tell and YMMV.

Quote:I think they'd probably want to be a little more specific than that. If you looked through the 70 years worth of WW comics you'd probably find literally hundreds of different outfits she's worn and dozens of variations of the more popular ones.

Obviously any new WW movie or TV show will redesign its own version of the outfit for its own purposes, even if they decide to take an existing example and clone 99.9% of it. -
Quote:Well that's kinda...disturbing, actually. Maybe because it looks human, but is incapable of perfectly mimicking human movement and expression? Whatever the reason, that thing is just super creepy.I just consider this one more baby step towards the Technological Singularity.Quote:Welcome to the Uncanny Valley. Good old Japan, they seem to like sending people here.

I figure we'll go through at least a few more decades of being subjected to "Uncanny Valley" examples like this until eventually, sooner or later, the technology will finally get good enough to get past that creepiness and become indistinguishable from the real thing. -
Quote:Cause Lucas knows what people want, and has been seeking deliver the exact opposite for decades.I'd never really openly wish Lucas any harm and I'm sure he's got a good number of years ahead of him. But to be honest I find myself increasingly fascinated to see what's going to happen to the whole Star Wars franchise after Lucas passes away.Quote:Not Rumor: It will epically suck, like every other Lucas project of the modern era.
Case in point Gene Roddenberry's been gone for 19 years now and there has been some pretty interesting things that have happened to Star Trek since then. Some good, some bad. Who knows what new Star Wars trilogies and/or TV shows are going to be made in the decades after Lucas. -

Quote:It's quite likely, given the close timing of these two things, that the big patch that gives us I19 will also have all the code for the new booster pack included. Actually depending on how long they've been tinkering with those new capes and auras some (if not all of it) is probably already in the current live build.Honestly, the day of or the day before the new Booster hits would be a logical time to release the new issue. That way, the patch that releases the issue and the patch that includes the Booster can come together, and you only need to do one patch for two things.

Quote:One can argue (by extension) that Marston himself was ahead of his time. That's how far before her time WW really was: she was wearing tube tops 33 years before they hit the mainstream.
Of course, considering the twisted puppy her creator was (and who he based her on) it's not surprising she wore revealing outfits.

I've got a couple of Praetorians basically rolled up and waiting at like level 2 just for I19 (and its Inherent Fitness) to drop.
Fortunately I have the Halloween Event to placate me for another week or so until I get antsy to play the new ones again.
-
It'd be interesting to know if work on the supposed WW TV show next year has gotten far enough along for them to be sketching outfit concepts like this now.
-
Quote:I would hardly be willing to assume "Patch day is now on Thursdays" just because we've had one example of that in recent history. The Halloween event this year is just a slightly updated version of the same code that's been used 5 times now - I would not call it a "patch" in the traditional sense of it being a new permanent code baseline.I would push your day to 11/4. Patch day is now on Thursdays. Halloween event classically started on Tuesdays, but started on Thursday this year, for example.
If you look back at the history of when Issues were released in this game you'll see almost all of them have been on Tuesdays. Until something like the next 3 or 4 Issues in a row are all on Thursdays I'm not going to worry too much about changing my expectations.

Simple answers:
Banner teams are for a Halloween zone event. They aren't for ToTing.
ToT MOBs are boosted a bit regardless of your difficulty settings. -
Well because of the Halloween Event the earliest it could now happen is November 2nd. I would suspect it'll be more like November 9th or 16th. The "Tuesdays" are always the safest bet and I figure they want to have it out the door well before Thanksgiving.
-
I think they actually got a buff last year but I'm not 100% certain of that. I just know that they do seem more "significant" now than they did several years ago. It's almost like these MOBs treat you as one level higher difficulty setting wise regardless of what your actual setting is.

Quote:Ah, I understand what you are saying now. I didn't realize there was pre/post cape mission difference like that between the genders. I use capes occasionally but apparently not enough to have ever noticed this. But those capes are available on female toons. It's just that female toons have to do the cape mission to get them whereas male toons get them from level 1.
Yeah I'd agree whatever capes are available to players either pre or post cape mission ought to be the same regardless of which body model (male, female or huge) you're using. I guess it's either a bug that females DON'T have them at level 1 or it's a bug that males DO have them at level 1. -
Quote:Your writeup is almost perfect except that I'm pretty sure once you have all the badges the reward for the last choice becomes 5,000 INF not 50,000. I remember this because I recall thinking a mere 5,000 INF is so relatively trivial that it almost seemed weird that they even bothered with that value.Once you've recieved a badge as a reward, if you choose it again, you will get a random Large Inspiration if you choose one of the first four badges, or 50,000 Inf if you choose the fifth badge.
Also: I checked, and the 100,000/50,000 Inf the last badge grants DOES count towards the Earn Inf Badges.
I could of course be mistaken, but I definitely was left with a "that's not worth it" impression. *shrugs*
