Quote:Yeah back when I toyed around with it the one I came up with looked almost like yours. I never went with it because A) she still looks relatively too busty to me (no fault of your attempt to conceal it BTW) and B) as you point out even getting -this- close to the actual character would probably be considered a no-no.Well, flat-chested may not be possible, but if I were going to try to make such a thing, this is how I'd do it:

Note that physique, shoulders, chest, and legs sliders are all the way minimum (left) while waist and hips are at about 75% to 80% (right of center). Skip on tights and go to the Armored top for a less breasty profile (same smoothing effect you get when wearing robes). I chose the flak jacket texture to give her that leather top look like she's got in the movie. Add a skirt and some tights --in retrospect, the patent leather pattern on tights would probably look better for her legs. Then go with the sport boots, gloves, and shoulders, resistance belt, and short points cape. To top it off, wedge hairstyle and mask 4 on Young Face 2 (adjust face sliders til you get it the way you like).
Not that I would condone using such a character since the trademark is obviously owned. :P
Still I'd rather be able to at least do a Hit-Girl "inspired" character without having to try to use tricks to make it work if you know what I mean. -
I like many of the options this pack will provide. I don't like everything, but I like enough of it that I'll definitely be getting it.

I understand why the Spliced Cape, Cloak of the Eighth Circle and Autumnal Cloak can't easily be made in "short" versions but it's seem like it would have been relatively easy to have gotten a short version of the Impervium Mantle and Unified Field Cloak.
And yes, I'll also suggest the "wrenches" on the Unified Field Cloak be removed. -
Quote:Yeah I've made a few alts with character backgrounds setting them in the 16-17 year old range but I just can't bring myself to "pretend" I could make any girls younger than that in this game. I realize that it's biologically possible for say a 10 or 12 year old to be as well-endowed as the lower limit of this game allows for but it just doesn't seem right somehow to be forced to assume that. Oh well.I've seen a few make passable younger girls, while not 8, can go with an endowed 12-13 year old. Which isn't impossible.
That said, that doesn't mean others see the toon and think 12 year old.
And even hit girl was 11 or 12 in the movie.

Ha! Tossing something out like this during east coast working hours. Very naughty!

I'm sure these'll all be gone by the time I get home but even if I have to pay for it I'm still looking forward to it.

That's the great thing about the way the Devs managed to implement this feature. It's primary purpose was to serve as a means to get past broken missions but obviously it can -also- be used for any other reason imaginable. But just because it can be used for secondary non-bug reasons in many cases doesn't mean the Devs are obligated to make it work in ALL cases.
As I said before merely "wanting" to skip missions doesn't mean every mission MUST be skipable. People have gotten so used to using it in non-critical situations that now they're whining when they can't use it all the time. Too bad. -
Quote:A few days ago I predicted we'd get I19 on either November 9th or 16th.Talked to a mod a couple of weeks ago ingame in Pocket D on Virtue...they wouldn't give a date for the release, but..the mod /did say/ it would be before the holidays start because of their people going on vacation during the holidays. They want to make sure they have people on hand when the issue comes out. Therefore...before Thanksgiving.
Your information appears to bolster my prediction.
Of course the "holidays" the Mod was talking about could have been Christmas/New Years.

People sometimes forget the only reason the Devs gave us the ability to auto-complete missions a couple of years ago was as a means to get past broken/bugged missions on our own without having to call for a GM to help us. Strictly speaking no one should be auto-completing missions just because they "want" to.

In 78 months of playing I've only had maybe 3 missions that were bugged enough that I needed to use the auto-complete feature to finish them. If the Devs decided to put restrictions on a few missions to make them "non-auto-completable" it wouldn't really bother me in the least. -
Quote:I don't have any problem with them adapting the flypose idea and making alternate animations for the Travel Powers and making that part of a Booster Pack. With alternate animations becoming available, possibly there could be alternate animations available for Fly, Superjump, Superspeed and Teleport.
I do have a slight problem with reworking the Vet Sprints into some form that can be gained via such a Booster Pack. I don't like the idea of making a Vet Award something anyone can buy - what would be the point of it still being a Vet Award at that point? If these sprints did end up in this Booster Pack then the Vet Sprints should be replaced with something else that would be an exclusive Vet Award.
I also have a problem with the idea of costume items being linked to animations/emotes the same way I'd have a problem with them being linked to powers or in-game buffs. If you had to wear costume item X to get any in-game benefit then people would start wearing the best ones and everyone would start looking the same. One of the greatest things about this game is that NO costume item is linked to any in-game benefit. This allows everyone to wear anything they want without having to be worried about being locked into a certain costumes just to get the best bonuses. For example things like the rocket boots are OK because when you fly with rocket boots all you get are the flames. Rocket boots can still be used with ANY flypose. What you are suggesting is something akin to putting on rocket boots and being FORCED to always fly around with /em flypose2. What if I want to use Rocket Boots with /em flypose3? Bottomline costume items should not hardwire any emotes/animations. -
Quote:Well I don't know about anyone else but I've played dozens of alts for 78 months using the "old" way Fitness worked. I think I got plenty of fun out of that already. At this point I'm willing to wait a few more weeks for the novelty of being able start an alt from the beginning with Inherent Fitness. YMMV. Besides I'm having enough fun now deciding how I want to respec existing characters. With that I don't really have all that much free time right now to roll another alt anyway.I too am excited for i19 and inherent Fitness pool, but I really don't understand why people are holding off leveling/making new alts.
Everyone gets the inherent fitness. Everyone will get 2 freespecs per character when i19 hits.
We all know how to play with/cope without fitness on lowbies. If you have a lowbie you're excited about making/playing, why not do it and pretend inherent Fitness isn't coming? Then respec them when i19 hits?
That's what I'm doing, I don't want to hold off on having fun until that issue hits :P

Even if NPC allies do absorb XP in normal missions there are so relatively few of them out there that it'd hardly be worth worrying about. I've never really noticed if they do or not because it rarely comes up as a possibility to begin with. *shrugs*

Quote:Well to be completely fair this game was launched back in 2004 and Hit-Girl premiered in a film that's only been out for 6 months. Sadly if there's any truth to the idea that the Devs purposefully made it hard to create obvious female child characters to dissuade the perverts then citing one very recent example to show that it should be allowed in this game is probably not going to be enough to change their minds. If that is a valid argument about american mores then the MPAA has already won. Wait a minute. Nevermind.
So much for little girls being super powered in this game.

I'd love to be able to make a Hit-Girl type character in this game without having to resort to using a small-sized male model to make her appropriately flat-chested. I just don't see when that'll ever be possible.
-
Wow that'd make playing something like a Mastermind pretty crappy if pets absorbed XP.

On a related tangent when you Confuse enemies and they kill something you'll only get a fraction of the XP you would have gotten if you had killed whatever it was directly. Maybe that's what you were thinking with this? -
Quote:Comparing this to the Phantom Menace scenario is a good way to describe it. I'd rather go into it not expecting much and be pleasantly surprised by its goodness than expecting hyped-up movie perfection and getting completely disappointed. At this point, the film is generating a great deal of hype. IMHO, it's in danger of reaching Star Wars Phantom Menace level hype, where expectations will be so high, the film can't help by disappoint. Typically, when that happens, so much info about the film is revealed, you walk out of the theater feeling, but I already saw this movie.

Quote:Yeah I'm doing my best to not see anything Tron Legacy related either until the movie opens.I completely refuse to watch anything Tron related...until after I've seen the movie.
I've seen a couple of trailers that look promising, but I have a lot of mixed emotions about it.
I'm ancient enough to have seen the original Tron in theaters so this new movie has a lot to live up to as far as I'm concerned. Obviously it's going to be vastly superior in terms of the CGI and overall appearance, but the original actually had a pretty solid story and this new movie needs to live up to that. -
Quote:Somebody probably thought it was random because it's so relatively convoluted that it's not hard to assume it is in fact random. Also, I thought I'd read somewhere that the selection of the new Super Leader after an alignment change was random, but upon searching for that I couldn't find it. I probably imagined it.

Despite the information je_saist provided here I'm not convinced I'd trust the game decide for me if I had to face this situation. If you have a superleader that's planning to alignment switch and you're worried about having to make sure the right person gets the rank I'd do everything possible to manually promote that person long before I'd trust the game to automatically give it to the right person. It just seems far safer to me to do it yourself directly. -
Quote:Sadly they might have been able create something they could have syndicated if they had just planned a bit better. They could have created a show called something like "Battlestar Galactica Chronicles" organized along the lines of having each season be a standalone story but a "standalone" that could also serve as a chapter in the overall story. Each of these seasons would be around 20 episodes long give or take.I think they really would have been more successful with a 2 season long A-Z plot for Caprica that told a definitive story. From there they could easily morph it into the Cylon War series they're talking about now, and again make that a 2 season long A-Z story. Would Siffy get to syndicate either one? No. But they'd make a hell of a lot of money on DVD sets and have endless fodder for weekend marathons that people would actually try to watch because they have clear beginning middle and ends.
The first season would have basically been what we got with Caprica. It would have been the definitive story of how the Cylons were created. The very end of that season would highlight the beginning of the First Cylon war. Then the second season could have been set maybe 10 years later and deal with a different group of people fighting the Cylons. We could see how Adama first joined the military and got involved with the fighting as a Viper pilot. Perhaps the end of that season would deal with the Cylons getting the upper hand and being on the verge of winning. Then the third season could have been the story of how Adama was involved in doing something super-cool that managed to save the humans from the Cylons and showing how he eventually gained command of the Galactica. Then a fourth (and this is key) FINAL season they could have made a more Cylon centered show that developed them more and explained why they were willing to retreat back from the fighting and what happened to them for those years prior to their sneak attack we saw in the beginning of the rebooted BSG series.
With this they could have gotten 80+ episodes telling 4 related standalone stories that would have filled in all the gaps. As a single "show" it could have been syndicated and obviously the DVD box sets would have been cool too.
Too bad they didn't ask me how to do it in the first place.

Quote:A perfect game would allow for the female breast slider to span all the way from "washboard flat" to "incredibly uber-normous".Quick answer: Yes, because the smallest breasts you can make in game are about a C cup and most athletic built women are more around A/B.
Longer answer: The only people interested in making flat or small chested females are a small minority of the small minority that is roleplayers, same as the people who want to make guys that don't look like they live in the gym, so as long as the vast majority of people run around going 'lol, I have no neck' or 'lol, tiny bikini with giant breasts' and pay up.....no one design wise cares so everyone just has to deal.
With a range of choices that complete everyone would be happy with it.
But (as has been mentioned already) this game is based on graphic modeling technology that's at least 6+ years old. The body models were limited by the numbers of polygons they could deal with and certain compromises had to be made. There was no way they could make one basic female model look good when very flat and also look reasonable when very large. You'd have worry about being able to adjust torso sizes and the other textures involved, all of which is beyond the current capabilities of this game.
Since we couldn't have any size we wanted it made sense to define the limits of what we could have to the "typical superheroine" range. Of course as we all know most superheroines tend to have a surplus in this body region so it's not surprising that the game was ultimately hardwired to be more top-heavy than real life. This skew towards bigness might technically be unrealistic, but at least it does fit within the game's expectations.
So basically we are limited to Power Girl sized chests because Power Girl is the quintessential example of what most superheroines look like. I suppose if most superheroines were flat-chested then all of our characters would be too.
But there's another theory as to why we are forced to accept non-flat female chests in a game like this and it's fairly controversial and perhaps even a bit creepy. As the theory goes the Devs of games like this want to make sure it's relatively hard to make a female character look like a child for the purposes of discouraging people from doing naughty things to them. The Devs don't want to get complaints from parents about being able hurt (physically or sexually) characters that look like young girls. Thus the easiest way to prevent that is to force everyone to have very obvious adult-looking breasts on our females even at the smallest settings.
Personally I'd hate to think we were not allowed to have realistically flat female chests because the Devs are worried about a handful of perverts out there. But all things considered I'm betting they aren't too upset that circumstances have allowed them to dodge that bullet regardless. -
Quote:As I implied in my earlier posts it never bothers me to see an occasional misspelled word in forum posts, mostly because I'm sure I occasionally misspell something myself.I don't always have time to check my posts, sometimes I am between tasks at work and will jot out a quick reply. If someone wants to think I am not intelligent based on poor spelling then that is their narrow mindedness. I have never been able to spell and I never will be, it's just a fact I have come to accept. There are a few FMRI studies showing there is a difference in good spellers and poor spellers (I believe it has to do with working memory), it's also being classified as a form of dyslexia.

But when a few typos here or there turns into misspelling every tenth word or some-such then yes, my level of tolerance can eventually be reached. I'm not asking for perfection in the posts I read, but I'm also not asking to be subjected to borderline illiteracy either.
I can accept that some people post quickly and that's fine. But on the other hand there are plenty of spellcheckers out there that'll let you spellcheck and correct the average sized post in a matter of a few seconds. The way I see it is if you want me to spend some time reading your words then you can at least do me the courtesy of taking a moment to make those words enjoyable to read. This kind of thing is especially true if you know you are a person who is prone to something like dyslexia. -
Quote:That might have something to do with it. I think people who get used to playing with pets as their primary form of offense/defense start to assume that all pets should be equally functional regardless of AT. They fail to realize/accept there's a legitimate reason for another AT to have different levels of control over things like this.I get the impression that people the people who are making this type of suggestion think Controllers are the Heroic counterpart to Masterminds and that just isn't the case. Controllers are the counterpart to Dominators.
I realize that if you're used to being able to micromanage pets that it can be annoying when you can't do that. I'm actually the reverse side of that coin - I've been playing Controllers for so long that I could never enjoy playing Masterminds because I found the practical REQUIREMENT to micromanage their pets to be annoying and tedious.
-
Quote:It actually isn't all that hard. I've teamed with a number of Masterminds over the years. Some of them were quite good at managing their pets but sadly I'm positive I can coordinate 3 Fire Imps with a Fire Controller far more effectively and precisely than many Masterminds I've seen.Agree with the above, and I'd also like to note: it's not that hard to keep a handle on your pets. The key to a good controller in all aspects is aggro management and that includes pets.
-
I liked it the first few hundred times I saw this suggested over the years.

Quote:I actually think about this kind of thing every time I consider things like the Anniversary and Veteran badges. What might your character's reaction be if they were aware that you existed and you were responsible for creating them and keeping them alive? Worse yet, they knew you were the reason behind their horribly tragic origin story, every time they ported to the hospital, etc...

It's actually the main reason why I don't think those things should be linked directly to characters like that. -
Quote:The only variable that might otherwise throw off Kheldarn's "Issue pattern" research is the fact that I19 is not really a typical Issue.Kheldarn, you break my heart with your frighteningly plausible prediction for the release date.
I19 is actually a "post retail expansion" Issue much like Issue 2 and Issue 7 were. Much of the content we are getting in I19 is arguably just 'leftover' things they couldn't quite squeeze into Going Rogue. Therefore it's realistically possible they'll have it ready to go before December because much of it has actually been worked on longer than normal content.
December 7th is a good "worst case" prediction for I19, but I still believe there's a significant chance it'll be ready before that.

Quote:Unlike the Snaptooth mission the problem here is that the way you "switch" these badges involves selecting it as a mission reward AFTER the mission ends. Currently you can't keep this (or any) mission after you've finished it so it almost doesn't matter if we can keep a Halloween Tip mission after the event or not. At best this would mean we could only switch badges once and then the Tip is gone until next Halloween. And that "best case scenario" is assuming the Halloween Tip will in fact last past the event and survive alignment changes.Does the tip and mission disappear with the event? Do they disappear when switching moralities? I know that the Snaptooth missions are still available when it isn't the Valentine's Day event. You just have to unlock DJ Zero before it ends.
It seems to me that since there isn't a contact for this, and as long as you don't lose the tips by becoming a tourist, you should be able to hold onto it, then run the mission whenever you make it back to a hero.
I suppose we'll see how this is going to work after the event soon enough. *shrugs* -
Quote:Don't take what I said too literally.Looks at Lothic, looks back at post, hangs head in shame
*laughs out loud* - Sorry Lothic, I cannot resist some emoticons (text-based or no) - I feel they (can) give some emotional context to writing that could be taken the wrong way.
Besides I do believe that language should and does evolve in the context of modern communication.
But yes, standards should be (on the whole) maintained in my opinion less it get completely out of control.
What I meant was written language ought to be as formal as the venue it's used in. For instance I obviously have no problem with occasional emoticons or texting abbreviations in posts I see or use in this forum. But I don't think they have any place in a medical journal or even a high school book report. Unfortunately some people are getting so "loose" with their language usage that they think things like BFF and LOL are acceptable to use in any written text.
Basically I dislike people who expect too much language formality in all situations equally as much as people who are far too casual with things that call for some reasonable level of correctness.
