Quote:My Electric Blaster's basic defense/strategy for soloing anything (especially EBs or AVs) relies on her core ability to sap all the END from the MOBs she faces. If she couldn't do that she'd be nearly helpless.Do mobs even use endurance? I've never seen them unable to use a power because they've run out

As the others have said you have to be able to sap them down to zero END before you completely stop them from attacking you, but it's not terribly hard to do that if you have an AT/powerset fundamentally designed to do that. -
Quote:Yes I was actually aware that the Devs have been dropping free codes for this pack since last week. The code has been ready since at least last Friday, since I know myself and several others on Freedom have access to it from Twitter and costume contest codes.
If you guys want to get super-picky about it the software updates for this have probably been ready and in the live build for WEEKS now because the Devs usually work that far in advance for the Booster Packs. Just because I said it was ready as of yesterday does not mean it could not have been ready earlier as well.

Quote:And you automatically assume there will never be a "Steampunk" Booster Pack? Obviously I have no idea if it'll ever happen, but I think since there was -any- artwork done along these lines that the chances for something like that has to be greater than 0%.I die a little, inside. Knowing that we may never get the various Steampunk characters or costume pieces...

My guess is that the code is ready today and they -might- have normally been ready to sell it today but they probably wanted to give themselves one more day to make sure their billing server/applications are ready. There have been problems in the past on other "launch days" for Booster Packs where there have been multi-hour delays. They probably just want to try to make sure there will be no reason to whine about it tomorrow.

Quote:So to be clear are you saying this is a problem for villains-turned-hero or for everyone? So I found out from tech support that during safeguard side missions, only the player that clicks on the final object gets credit toward badges (eg, Fire Marshal, Bomb Squad etc). I also tried soloing the bank robbery but no side missions spawned. So, heroes are left with the options of: 1) depriving fellow teammates of badge credit in order to be the final one to click; or 2) play a ridiculous amount of bank missions (in themselves a time investment to get) so that all players have an equal chance to earn badge credit. Just wondering what everyone thinks...
When I was running through Mayhems for my main badging character after I18 I noticed that got shared team credit for most of the activities except (notably) arson credits for the Firebug badge. I ended up having to farm the PI Mayhem like 6 times in a row just to get credit for that one badge. According to the Pargonwiki page on Firebug that how it was supposed to work.
Basically I didn't see anything that wasn't WAI as of a couple of months ago.
Are you suggesting these things are broken right now or that Safeguards specifically are broken? -
Quote:People have been wanting some kind of offline costume viewer/editor for years but the Devs will likely never provide one (at least not one that's a legal, non-Korean version at any rate - you old timers might remember what I'm talking about).i know you can save costumes and they save in the program file as a .costume file but is there a way to open this or view costumes outside of running the game, as im trying to introduce a freind and i wanted to show him some of my costumes.
There are some tricky legal issues involved and NcSoft was actually involved in some lawsuits over it. Bottomline in order to control costumes the Devs have made things so the only way you can edit/view costumes is by being logged into the game. Short of screenshots anything "offline" will probably never happen at this point. -
Quote:Like Ms. Mesmer I didn't simply move the alt from one side to the other. The Halloween Tip (like every other Tip) vanished from my list the second I choose to switch alignments at the end of a morality mission. Are you sure it's deleted, as opposed to what usually happens to Tips (being put into "escrow" until the appropriate alignment is again achieved)?
I suppose it's possible that if I choose to switch back to the old alignment that the Halloween Tip would reappear but I highly doubt that based on my experience with alignment switching. When you change alignments the game permanently wipes any leftover Tip missions or progress on Tips. The Halloween Tip might work differently but I figure that's unlikely.
The only way I beleive the game keeps Tips in "escrow" as you put it is when you hop back and forth between redside and blueside without changing alignments. -
Quote:I think the theme of this thread is that for the most uber-awesome IOs you can easily spend billions but you can still get IO-based improvements for well within 400 million if you're smart/careful about it.I'm feeling a theme of the thread:
"I'm used to riding my bike around everywhere. It's way faster than walking, and super efficient. But, I've heard about these horseless carriages. Worth it or not?"
"Lamborghinis are expensive, buying a car isn't worth it."
"..."
I think some people get caught up in the idea that slotting IOs isn't worth the effort unless you spend billions on it. They forget that you can be 95% as effective without having to spend a fortune on it.
-
Based on what I've seen in the markets I figure maybe 90% of all IO recipes available are relatively cheap to buy. It's only the other 10% that'll cost you billions to get if you want them. As long as you don't bother trying to get the few hyper-expensive ones you can fully load up a build with IOs very easily with 400 million or less.

Quote:Yep this happened to one of mine as well: the moment you switch alignments in a morality mission the Halloween Tip is deleted. It does. I lost the one that I was holding onto to get the other badge title when I switched from Rogue to Hero, never having left Paragon City between getting the Halloween Tip and doing the Morailty mission.

So now that we know Halloween Tips survived after the end of the event but they are deleted upon alignment changes one has to wonder if people are going to try to hang on to them into the coming months. Maybe some people will even try to offer them up to the highest bidders for badges until next Halloween comes around... -
I wouldn't mind getting new costume items that would serve as "cosmetic props" to an expanded power animation/emanation system. But I would not be in favor of system that would link any costume items to such a system. For example I wouldn't mind seeing "arm guns" added to the game but I wouldn't want to be forced to have to wear a specific arm gun costume item just to change the way my powers animate. I would hate to have to be limited to wearing specific costume items to gain any kind of benefit like that.

Well this has the potential to be one of those transformative innovations that has the potential to be both very beneficial and very harmful to society at the same time. Kind of like the automobile - it has offered unparalleled travel freedom for millions but it has also probably killed millions since it was invented.
Hopefully this kind of thing will prove to be beneficial enough to society to overcome the downsides. -
Ever since it started for me it seems to be almost totally random. Sometimes I'll go almost a week without it happening then it'll happen 4 or 5 times a day for a while. I've yet to figure out if there's anything I can do to prevent or avoid it.
P.S. Ironically enough it just happened to me again as I was trying to post this post.

Quote:I don't mind being wrong on a prediction like this when the net effect was that we could have very well guilted the Devs into fixing this quickly just so that they could prove us "negative Nellys" wrong. It is in the next patch (Training Room Forums):
Going Rogue/Issue 18 - Patch notes for build 1850.201009101722.18T2r

Quote:So that would seem to answer the "Do the Halloween Tips stay around after the end of the Event" question. On Infinity server, I JUST investigated the tip and it seems to work. Not using it yet, but I have it. Sadly, none of my Virtue toons have one.
The real problem I think people are going to have is that the only way to gain the badges from these Tips is to "complete" the mission.
This presumably means they'll only be usable once before they're wiped away until next Halloween.
Good luck to anyone who still wants those badges before next Halloween.
I think you'll have to convince people to burn their Tips for that.

Yes there is a maximum. I think it's like 255 characters but I might be misremembering the exact number. The important point is that I have tried to make huge binds before and I know they never worked until I shortened them up. Never tried long macros but I would guess they have a limit too.
Good luck to you with this.

Quote:Obviously we as players want to get as much new content as possible without having to pay extra for it.This is the sort of thing that really shouldn't be in a booster. It's basic functionality that we didn't have before, and really should be in the basic game. If we MUST have a Booster, then it should be more stuff still over the more stuff we got in the free Issue.
That pretty much goes without saying.
But if it came down to the Devs deciding the only way they could afford to spend the time and effort on something like these new travel animations was to charge extra for it via a booster pack I'd rather have the OPTION to pay extra for it rather than never get them at all.
With the economy the way it is people have to get the "silver spoon" out of our mouths and realize we are still pretty lucky to get -anything- new for free any more. We can't keep expecting to think we are entitled to having everything given to us without having to pay extra for at least some of it. To believe we "deserve" it is wishfully naive. -

Quote:Well then ironically you must have caught the ONLY episodes that featured the teenagers a lot. There were many episodes of Caprica which barely gave any screentime to those characters. Several eps didn't have them in them at all. Like I said the show had a lot of problems, but being pegged as a show "only teenagers would care about" was never one of them.Lothic,
I see your comments. I never understood or better yet took the time to understand the show. I only caught episodes here and there. In reading the post. I guess the show was about the cylons first attempts at humanism.
Also, if a show only shows "teenagers"...it's a teenaged-oriented show.
Seriously, golden girls ain't for kids. Also, I did add this in my comments
" it seemed" -
Quote:Oh I know how the system works and that they somehow manage to make money tossing out crap like this. The problem is that they actually make money on these things. The ads pay for it and rentals and reruns are gravy. So they see no need to change.
That's why I was hoping their consciences will at least make them feel bad about how they make their living someday. *shrugs* -
All I know is that I thank the gods (the devil, or whoever) for TiVo. I recorded this show and skimmed through it today in about 10 minutes. I still love Felicia Day as an actress, but I think some geeks in a high school A/V club could have done a better job with this movie.
Hopefully someone at SyFy will eventually feel bad about putting out silliness like this... -
Quote:There are plenty of reasons Caprica failed as a show.Caprica was a joke. I see in the $1.00 bin at the store already. Just curious, what did the girl trio have to do with the story? Every time, I tuned into the show I saw them doing petty things. It seemed like the show was geared towards 15-20 year olds.
But at least one of those reasons WASN'T that it was geared towards 15-20 year olds.
A few teenagers in a show does not automatically make that show a "teenaged" oriented show.
Disliking a show like this is fine, but at least dislike it for non-silly reasons. *shrugs* -
If Carpenter and Weta are involved then this movie at least has a -chance- to be good.
But I'm still not going to assume it will be before it's out regardless. -
To be honest it might have saved everyone a whole lot of trouble if the Devs had simply "nerfed" any + or ++ off of all existing HOs in the game a long time ago. It would have made these kinds of trade problems vanish.
I actually thought it was always a little bit cheesy that HOs were ever combinable in the first place, even back in the "good old days" when that was the way to make the most powerful ENHs possible. I never combined them because they were always far more valuable to me spread around all my alts as singles rather than have them all "doubled up" on one main one.

Quote:My guess (assuming they weren't able to do any episodes to bring Caprica to some kind of reasonable conclusion) is that they'll try to work some bits and pieces of what Caprica tried develop into the new series to give it some overall continuity.First Zoe wasn't a terrorist per se. She had no idea her boyfriend was going to blow up the train, she thought she was going off world to whichever world the Church of the One True God was located (Gemenon?) and bring her creation, virtual life, there. She felt repulsed by the hedonistic virtual playground that her father indirectly help create. The fact she got hung with the terrorist moniker bugged me to no end.
What I hope at least in this new series, we find out whether Adama's virtual clone of a sister became part of the Cylon consciousness or not during the first war.
