Quote:I don't have much problem with this outfit. It has the slightly more accurately historical Xena-like quality to it. At any rate it's a tad bit more conservative than the "most famous" costume New Dawn mentioned so I'd expect a new Wonder Woman movie to go with something like this. But for the record people have been waiting for a "hopefully soon" WW movie for like 30+ years now so I'm far from getting any hopes up at this point.=O_O= wooooooah Very nice. id expect them to use that in the (hopefuly soon) Wonder Woman movie.

Yeah I figure whatever shape her costume comes in that the movie makers will follow the current trend to make every superheroes' colors "darker" than before so at least these shades of red and blue are what I'll expect good or bad. -
The whole point behind Hero and Villain Alignment merits was to give something special to those characters who decided to "stay true" to one of the main original alignments because those characters are technically giving up the ability to side switch (like Vigilantes and Rogues can). Vigilantes and Rogues cannot earn, keep or spend A-merits of any kind.
So eventually Heroes and Villain get A-merits when they reaffirm and Vigilantes and Rogues get 60 regular merits.
These rewards counterbalance each other. -
Quote:Saying Bay and Snyder are similar directors because they both use explosions, pretty girls and slow motion in their movies is like saying Hitler and Gandhi were similar human beings because they both had body hair, blood in their veins and brains to think with.Honestly, and I'm not a student of film or anything--but I don't see the difference between what Bay does and this movie.
Bay likes to have alot of mindless explosions that the audience has seen abour four million times before.
This trailer has tons of things exploding pointlessly.
Michael Bay casts pretty girls irregardless of whether or not they can act.
This trailer has that in spades.
Michael Bay loves slow motion shots.
Only Zack Snyder out slow motions Michael Bay. So much so that it has become his trademark, which is sad considering that it was done to death and had become incredibly boring before Snyder even started making films.
Seriously, I don't see the difference, other than that Snyder has generally had better source material to work with.
Now, to be fair, this is only a trailer, so this film could turn out to be decent. I'm just saying, that from what I've seen so far, it looks painfully stupid and dull.
I don't dismiss the idea that neither one of them are the BEST directors in the world. But if you want to try to say they are equally bad you had better come up with better reasons you can compare their movies with than you can glean from movie trailers. Just about ANY movie looks like any other when you only watch a couple of minutes of each of them side-by-side. *shrugs*
The basic problem is that Bay's full movies never really expand beyond the hyped "movie trailer" format. They are like watching 2 hour advertisements for a better movie that don't actually exist. On the other hand what I've seen of Snyder's films leads me to believe there will be an actual movie behind this movie trailer worth watching. YMMV. -
In a perfect world it is annoying and unnecessary. But there was probably one or two cases, out of all the reasonable people who play this game, where for some reason this scenario played out in such a way which caused the Devs to decide this change was necessary. It's basically the MMO equivalent of the one idiot tampering with a box of Tylenol so now we all have to put up with those annoying foil seals on our pill bottles.

Quote:As an FYI the badge /settitle numbers for many badges tend to shift upward almost every time the Devs add badges to the game.I'm not sure how long this has been broke, but I can't seem to access my "Whip Cracker" badge.

I've been using /settitle binds for years and I've noticed a pattern for how this works: For some mysterious reason the Devs love to add new badges to this game in places around the 1000 /settitle mark. What this means is that badges which have a /settitle number less than about 1000 have been pretty stable for years. On the other hand badges with /settitle numbers above 1000 tend to get shifted upward with the addition of new badges in the "middle" of the list. Basically what this means is that you can usually count on any 1000+ numbered badge to change fairly often. In fact the latest patch to the game just last week shifted many of those badges up by 2 as Eric pointed out.
It's always been frustrating that they don't just add new badges to the end of their master list. I'm sure there's some method to their madness, but otherwise I've just learned to update my numbers accordingly. The Titan webpages are usually pretty good at updating their lists when changes happen, but as you can see they don't always update instantly. -
Quote:All I know is that I'd much rather watch a Superman movie styled after "300" than any of the garbage Bay has been responsible for.Well, having seen the trailer for this film, I think it's official: We now have two Michael Bays. Only one of them is named Zack Snyder.
I fear for Superman's future in film if this is the best Zack Snyder can come up with.
Comparing these two directors is like trying to compare night and day.
The next Superman movie could be in MUCH worse hands than the likes of Snyder. *shrugs* -
Quote:And that's just assuming you're attacking something solo. Yes the 10 second duration is pretty short, but it can be pretty effective if you've also got pets and/or other teammates attacking something at the same time. Thanks guys. It seems to be 10 seconds duration. The power has a 6 second recharge-1 second cast , so that means I should be able to get in 3 attacks and then another dagger.

Quote:For what I'd use an iPad for (which would basically be as a fun electronic toy I'd want to load up with lots of media) the current version was simply a combination of too expensive/not enough memory/not flexible enough for me. Since we all know Apple loves to bring out new generations of these devices every 6-12 months I decided to wait at least until the second generation for some of these problems to be resolved first. I guess we'll see what happens next.If you're set on an iPad, supposedly version 2 is coming in February or March.

Quote:Clearly this team of yours was strongly optimized for this encounter. Not really saying that's a bad thing at all, but I would also point out almost anything in this game can be accomplished "without nukes" if you have the appropriate "dream team" to throw against it.This badge can be earned without nukes, but it is difficult. You need alot of support (colds doms are fantastic) and strong immobilization for Director 11. We had:
- Perma Fire/Psi Dom
- Another Perma Dom with aoe immob.
- 2 Cold Domination Corrs
- Ice/Rad troller
- Fire/Kin Corr (with BS aoe immob)
- Me (DM/Inv scrapper)
- An Emp defender
We shielded up before entering the warehouse, then blitzed the comps. Doms and anyone with an immob power, spammed it until D11 was locked down. We stayed at range and blasted him to oblivion. I used 10 charges of a fresh envenomed dagger and blackwand. I also engaged the ambushes when they got close to our pack.
I believe the minelayers are tied to his movement. We did not kite or run around after he was immobilized. It is one of the few encounters where the single target immob. power in most control sets is practically necessary.
This Director 11 challenge will go down in the annals of this game much like most of the others.
It started out seeming impossible until people eventually figured it out.
Here's looking forward to the next challenge.

Quote:Yeah it is amazing what slightly different hair styles and makeup can do.I see the first image and think...no way...not Buffy. Looks terrible.
I see the second image and think...okay maybe.
I just grabbed those two pics after a minute of googling because they both showed Heather as a cheerleader which is what Buffy was (at least in the original movie).
I'm just assuming this Buffy reboot is going to be more of a "movie Buffy" reboot than a "TV Buffy" reboot. -
Well I'm coming at this from the point of view of never having seen a single episode of Glee (the whole idea of the show makes queasy) but having seen pretty much every episode of Buffy/Angel and the original Buffy movie. From that mindset I look at Heather Morris:

And can accept that she at least "looks" like a Buffy when you compare her to Kristy Swanson and Sarah Michelle Gellar. I really have little faith in this Buffy reboot (without Whedon's involvement) to begin with, but I figure they could have considered someone worse than Heather. *shrugs* -
Quote:I'm getting this for Virtue now. I don't think I've ever seen that message or this kind of situation before. No response from this server. Try a different server, or try playing this one later.
Anyone else getting this message right now? Server status shows they are all up and running.

Quote:I'd agree it would be best for everyone if the Devs fixed this (and all the other non-working) procs. On the other hand I personally never bothered slotting this particular proc and probably never would even if it did work. Sure having another source of -tohit would be nice, but because it's a RANDOM source I'm not going to rely on it helping me and would never build a build around the idea of EXPECTING that proc to be significant. It's at best icing on the cake, not the cake itself. You know, I always considered this the most useless proc ever. It's not a major debuff and odds are the mob is going to be mezzed anyways.

Well I'm coming at this as a Thor "novice" in that I've been aware of the character for years but I've never really read any of the comics or seen any other movies/TV shows that ever featured the character. Basically the most I've ever seen in recent times is this one trailer and that looked pretty promising to me.
Obviously I know nothing of how this upcoming movie will work within the existing context of the character so as long as it's a good movie it won't really matter to me if it completely trashes/reworks anything that the comic books have established. I guess ignorance can be bliss.

Quote:I truly hope you were joking about this. This question is nagging me. I'm just curious. I hope a few of us qualified at least.

Besides what other people have said here (that the whole idea of the "fast track" was a story plot device) could you imagine how much nerdrage would be generated amongst this player community if there was an ACTUAL fast path that only a "few of us" qualified for? The screaming and shouting on these boards about how unfair it'd be that some people could be fast tracked and others couldn't would be monumentally epic. It'd be DOOOOMMMM! times a million!

Quote:The Dodger badge is the one you can get in the first mission of the Tin Mage TF for avoiding damage from Director 11's mine layer pets. If you fail it (or give up trying for it) it's perfectly possible to complete that TF without worrying about the other "Master" parts of it. The badges for the Apex TF Master run are relatively simple by comparison. The funny thing was that after I quit the team (because I don't have interest in badges, and particularly wasting extra time in pursuit of them), they messaged me after I was in a mission to indicate that they had given up on master of, and were just doing it normally. However since they had already wasted 20 minutes of my time before that, I declined. Then I got on a Apex team after finishing my mission. That team got master of Apex. That's wasn't much trouble. We just had to follow instructions and play competently.
Basically Dodger is currently one of the most "labor intensive" badges out there because of the exact planning and tactics involved. There's really no other badge out there that's quite as picky about how to get it as a coordinated single mission team goal. It's perfectly fine if you don't want to put in the time to challenge yourself with badging, but if you're judging ALL badging by the extremeness of this one odd case then I think you're doing yourself a disservice. YMMV of course. -
Quote:The only reason I can "buy" it is because I've seen various people complain about blind spam invites over the years either here in the forums or while playing in the game. Since the "fix" involved was pretty trivial I can actually believe this was one of their "let's get around to it sometime" changes from a few years ago that they finally got around to doing. *shrugs*Eh, I don't buy it. This isn't a spammer-grade problem where any sort of boycott would simply be bypassed through rolling another expendable trial account. Not to mention the scale - prior to I19, I only got a blind invite around once a week, if at that, and once I19 hit, it spiked to, oh, once every few days. The fact that you can cheerfully gignore blind inviters and be done with that particular individual also easily alleviates that particular bit of annoyance. Comparing the two... eh, unlike spammers, I can't really point at the occasional blind inviter and say "this is why we can't have nice things".

Quote:What I don't understand from this is why the shopping list is needed at all. Sure, I can understand making sure everyone can fly since you need to get past the trip mines without setting them off, but what other requirement of the 'master of' could demand such an overstock of power boost. I simply don't recall the TF being even close to that bad.Out of well over 1,200 badges in the game right now the new "Midnight Dodger What Dodges at Midnight" badge is by far the only one I can think of off-hand that requires the specific set of temp powers you mentioned used by the entire team to accomplish effectively. For a sub-badge (1 of 4) that contributes towards a Master badge it doesn't really seem unreasonable to me to have to do fairly special/unusual things to get it. Basically if you weren't willing to use those powers and tactics for that run you probably would have ruined the chances for the others to get that badge.Quote:OK, thanks. That explains it. It also indicates that I'll probably never bother doing a master run. Good thing I'm indifferent to badges.
I'm quite sure there are plenty of people out there willing to run a Tin Mage who don't care about badges.
Better luck to you in finding one of those teams sometime. *shrugs* -
Quote:The Patch Notes published for this game (or any game really) only document a mere fraction of the total things that ever make it into a build. The fact that something like this didn't get listed doesn't really surprise me, especially if the Devs consider this sort of an exploit fix.Yah I never saw any notes about this either, so I was totally irked when I finally understood the error message was deliberate.
As a feature to prevent people from spamming invites I'd actually expect something like this to specifically NOT be in the Patch Notes. The Devs have a policy of not talking about features that prevent people from doing things they consider to be "bad" and/or borderline exploits.
As I said before I know this annoys people who are trying to invite people legitimately, but this is the price we pay for the few goofballs who abused the system and pissed enough people off via unwanted spammed invites.

Quote:If someone wanted to be picky about it I guess a person could say the Party Pack was only worth exactly $6.12 to them. But for the most part the various people who have commented about it over the last few months have stuck to fairly reasonable round numbers. IIRC most people thought $4 would've been better for it.Some people's ideas of valid price points seem like absurd hair-splitting to me. "Eight emotes is worth exactly... six dollars and twelve cents to me." How do you come up with that?
Maybe they think they're haggling with NCsoft? "Eight dollars? For this, sir, I will pay you five and not a penny more!" And then you settle on six, of course. But it doesn't actually work like that.
It's not really a matter of "haggling" with NCSoft. It's more a matter of comparing what we got in earlier packs versus the Party Pack. In comparison I'd have to agree that the Party Pack was really only "half-a-pack" in relative terms so they really should have only charged us half the price. Nothing too picky about that price point I should think.

Quote:I'm sure there are a handful of random things that could be done for bases fairly easily. But I still contend to handle ALL of the systemic problems bases have would pretty much require its own retail expansion or at least an entire Issue dedicated to it, neither of which I see happening anytime soon.Excuse me.... have you seen the LOW HANGING FRUIT for Base Luv thread?
*hint* It's in my sig.
.

I wouldn't be against this idea but by the same token I don't think it'd give us anything we couldn't already figure out most of the time.
About the only way I'd see this being useful is on "single AT/powerset" teams where it isn't obvious (for example) which of the 8 Defenders did the most buffing. Otherwise on relatively diverse teams it's usually pretty easy to tell who did the most whatever because it's only one teammate who could've been the best whatever-doer.
And if there were ever badges associated with this I could guarantee you these would be heavily farmed/gamed... -
As I implied something like a cooldown to discourage invite spamming was a relatively simple thing to implement. On the other hand no matter how many people have been complaining about base improvements the amount of work the Devs would actually have to do to "fix" bases properly would be huge. It'd probably almost be on the order of requiring another $30+ retail expansion pack just for bases alone.
Sadly the fact that bases have received almost no improvement since they were introduced doesn't surprise me very much. The Devs' primary concept for them was to be places for massive PvP battles and we all know how well that turned out.

I wouldn't call myself a particular "fan" of the real life of Carrie Fisher but I've liked most of the movies I've seen her in. I figure there are people out there who are highly fascinated by either Carrie specifically or Hollywood celebs in general who would really eat up any kind of "tell-all" material from her. I assume those are the people this HBO show and/or book was aimed at.
Just because many of us liked Star Wars doesn't really mean we must like everything else the actors of Star Wars ever did or are ever going to do until the end of time. *shrugs* -
Quote:I'm willing to agree that the "vocal minorities" they tend to listen to are the ones that have the right combination of wanting things which are relatively easy to implement and aren't unreasonably insane or unrealistic about what they want at the same time.Maybe my perceptions are skewed but I don't get the feeling they listen to the vocal minorities.
