Quote:I don't recall anything in that arc to suggest that the letter was written that day. Could have been written in the past, before he turned.
Of course, that leads to some questions.... Assuming Hamidon turned into Hamidon at the same time in our Universe and Preatorian universe, how old was he AND Tanya at the time? Because she was described as a "young woman," so let's assuming 35 at the oldest. So there's a possibility if this WAS written years in the past, Dr. Hamidon may be a pedophile.
Or he could have dictated it. I don't think it'd be too much of a speculative leap to assume that there are some DE capable of the task. You see the minion and lieutenant mobs planting and tending small trees and plants in-game, even, so it's not like they don't have the manual dexterity. -
Quote:You have this backwards. -Regen is the exception, not the norm.
2) High -regen and damage. This is to counter the AVs/GMs high regen rates. EBs its not as required, and for some AVs, -regen doesn't help that much, but it is useful. -regen is definately what you need to be able to solo GMs. Damage isn't required as much as the -regen is, as you can debuff a EB/AV/GM down to 0% regen, and whittle it down with brawl if you really wanted to. Damage just makes things faster, which brings us to point 3 -
I believe every Stalker primary can take down a boss critter (ignoring resistance) within one BU cycle, except maybe Spines (and even so, it would be asininely close, along with killing most of the minions/what-not in the group). Bosses at level 50 have roughly 2500 health and usually each set has the capability to deal 2000 or more damage of that total through BU+AS+Placate+[crit heavy hitter].

Quote:Hmm. I wonder if that toggle-less concept Invuln Tank my SG got the MoSTF badge would be considered better or worse than a Fire Tank.No you're not, I don't care how good a player is there are certain challenges where even with an infinite amount of time you will fail without the right team. Like a MoSTF I would NEVER do with a Fire Tanker. I don't care how well built or how many billions of influence or how well that player can play his character there is still a huge inherent weakness compared to all of the other tanker secondaries.

Oldest brother started on Everquest. He's more or less tried most of the available MMOs out there and as such, when the Internet truly came of age (as in, having an Internet connection was actually becoming common...though dial-up still reigned supreme), he influenced my other brother into FFxi. I tried that with them for a short time but decided it was lame as hell.
After that, CoH came out and I've been subscribed since, minus a month or two trying out EQ2, EVE, and AoC. Not really complicated, nothing else has succeeded at wresting my money/dedication away. Granted, I only started playing somewhat regularly again recently after another multi-month subscribed hiatus. -
But if we could skip cutscenes, I wouldn't have my 'go get something to drink' break in the middle of the STF.
-
Hmm. Well, I see a number of CoPs scheduled. I'll probably try to hitch a ride and check out the hub-bub.
-
Good to know.
My circle and I have been on a several-month hiatus from CoH and only recently started playing again (as such, haven't run most of the new content), so hearing all the claims of the CoP having an "impossible" AV made me curious. Considering people still somehow fail the myriad of level 50 TFs available and have made dubious "broken game" claims for all of them in the past, I was naturally skeptical. That, and as far as I can tell from the limited Wiki info, the "broken" AV in the CoP Trial is simply a copy-paste of Lanaru from the Faathim TF, so it seemed even more unlikely that there was something game-breakingly screwed up for him (though it's not like copy-pasted content hasn't been screwed up before). -

When are they transparent?
If they're transparent only when in-game (as in, you're walking around with them), the game automatically turns them transparent if your view is immediately over-the-shoulder. Try zooming out a bit.
That said, if they're transparent at say, the character select screen, you're having some sort of driver issue and may want to contact customer support or post in Technical Issues. -
Quote:Force Bubble offers a unique tool that can be absurdly useful when used correctly.Considering Cold offers more overall mitigation (considering Frostworks/slows/resistance) I don't see why this would be necessary.
I think the bigger problem for Castle is the famed Cottage Rule. Because Force Bubble is a prime target IMO to turn completely into something else.
If you want to get rid of dead weight, kill off Repulsion Field. -
And yet, somehow, people will still manage to fail at the high end's available tasks, then proceed to cry about it being too hard.

Quote:Technically-speaking, but it also depends on the definition of "immortal" that you're working with at any one time. Statesman seems to fall more into the "immortal because his body is indestructible"-line of thought. If the cells no longer die/reproduce (due to whatever MacGuffin you're working with--in his case, the power of Zeus), the statistical probability of cancer appearing disappears along with the biological imperative for it to develop.Originally Posted by SpittingTrashcanIsn't it also the case that unless something unusual is happening, an immortal's chance of getting cancer approaches 1?
Granted, we don't really have an existing example of biology showing indestructible and immortal traits (although there are examples that get extremely close to their respective targets on either side, moreso the latter, however), so we're kind of left with wild speculation. I mean, how exactly do you describe the intricate biology of a living thing that survives the physical effects of a nuclear explosion (see 1976 on the history page)? There's resistance to radiation and heat and pressure...but the silliness of the sheer forces involved in that type of explosion paint the discussion in an interesting light.

Quote:They have to have become immortal hundreds of years earlier. Which is why, I think, all the really resonate stories about immortals take place either over a period of hundreds of years (Highlander) or after they've already been around for that length of time (Interview with the Vampire).
The truly interesting immortal characters, in my opinion, are the ones that have lived for significantly longer than the "normal" immortal (assuming they're written well--of course, that assumption should be expected). I'm not talking the random Viking vampire that shows up in fiction, I mean one that participated in the sack of Babylon-kind of old--or even older. It's generally fairly rare that characters that old are written well, though, so it's probably a good thing characters of that type rarely show up as is. -
Quote:I'm reminded of the scene in Mallrats where (I forget the names, so I might not say the right one here) Brodie and Stan Lee discuss superhero genitalia. There are quite a few characters in COX that are either extremely long lived or even physically immortal. Strangely enough, none of them seem to have dated their fellow immortals.
That all said, I offer this:
That should solve the problem for you.

The only thing irritating about Master runs is when some fathead noob fill on the team decides to start spamming team chat about how he thinks it should be a Master run when the call for players clearly stated the intent was speed or whatever else. -

They aren't exact copies but the negative connotations the majority of those words convey justify your critics' complaint. There isn't a real discussion to be had when the apparent major substance of your position is boiled down to the response: "Because, that's why. I just don't like it." (At least in their eyes; you're justified to your opinion all you want, I don't really care.) Notice that the medium of discussion is an Internet forum and it's no surprise you get people pouncing on it. If you really don't care, just don't acknowledge it. -
Quote:Saw that, too. Granted, with the way the CoH2 trademark was reported by word-of-mouth, I can't really blame them for being on the tale end of the chain and getting it wrong. I mean, come on, you expect journalists and editors to do a 5 minute fact check on an easily-accessed government website? That's just silly.I was reading the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly section in this months Game Informer. They mentioned the console, or lack there of, versions for Cryptic's games. They then go on to say Cryptic has trademarked City of Heroes 2.
I had to write them and point out their error lol. -

What, you don't have three other people with you to raid the Mothership? It's easy and scares the hell out of people in the zone when your raid ends.

Thankfully the Devs seen to have the foresight to wait until all the excitement has died down, so they can judge how the set performs in normal circumstances before they do any more balancing to it.
