This is very odd, Defiant speciflcally says that the name is unavailable, yet when a name is already taken (as in the case of Psychosonic Cindy) it merely states that the name is in use. :/
-
I'm not upset, little point in being upset. I found a better name then when that was taken I changed it to be similar but different. FTR: Originally wanted Eurydice because my character was a french opera singer who died while singing this role wanting revenge on the greek/roman gods for killing her character and her (yes I'm fudging my history/legends). When that was unavailable I decided on Psychosonic Cindy (name taken from the Transvision Vamp song. However that too is taken so I want with Psychosonic Barbie and went with a pink theme...
Then finally got into the game, realised my costume didn't look quite as good as I had hoped, went to icon and met a wolverine clone (different name) in a SG called Marvels Heroes... which made me laugh... a little.
Quote:I was well aware of this list, been playing for a long time (on and off). Thing is the original name isn't under copyright, yes a character with the same name is, but the name itself isn't. And while I understand NCSoft's standpoint on this it still annoys me.1. Peoples names, meaning famous people.
Quote:4. Anything vulgar or offensive. -
Came up with a concept for a character and tried to create it however the name is coming up as invalid (TBH I expected it to be taken). Question is not what does this mean, but why is a name from classical Greek Legend invalid?
I can see she is also a character in the Sandman comics, but how do a comic publisher copyright a character that has been in the public domain for thousands of years?
Further more if they can. How come other legendary characters that have also been 'stolen' by comic writers are allowed... some even used in the game? Eg Grendel -
Quote:Which just shows how much you know... Because unlike controllers brutes are largely immune to stuns, holds, sleeps and other status effects that Rikti like to spam. I have two well built fire/kins with plenty of res/def and lots of resistance to mezzes yet large groups of +4 rikti will eat them both alive. (Which is not the case with other mobs that do less mez and more damage.)haha lolololololololol
when i read this i laughed the perfect build is always gonna be a fire/kin troller
they are weak to fire so thats a bonus and i have never heard of kinetic resistance before too so extra bonus try that plop up purps and use that flashfire and with fulcrum shift its only mins to do it
Quote:and for mostly melee combat rikti use hover or fly or a jetpack to logicly they can't physically harm you
That all aside, the electric sounds like just the sort of thing to level over the DXP weekend so thanks for the advice. -
Common IOs mostly, the two taunt sets were fairly cheap... If I were ever to have unwanted LotG +recharge I'd slot one into CJ and one in maneuvers. It certainly is not the best farming build out there (Ice Rain doesn't work the way I hoped it would) but more than adequate for fire farms. (Sucks in other content).

If as some are saying 84 month vets immediately unlock tier 9, why does the image up there say you start with up to 29 but need 34 to hit tier 9?
I'm not saying your information is wrong, just wondering at the inconsistency between the two stand points. -
Actually if you plan on 4 slotting stamina your best course is to use 4 performance shifters: End Mod, End Mod/Acc, End Mod/Recharge & Chance for +End. This gives less in and of itself from the actual slots but confers a 2.5% Recovery Bonus from the set bonus (plus 5% travel speed & 22HP). Making it slightly more effective @50 than 3 End Mod & 1 Proc.
Checked in Mids but been running my characters like this since the advent of IOs -
Same deal here, tried exclamation marks (") and underscores but neither worked. :/
Think I will /bug it in game, might get it fixed probably won't. -
I frequently send small (or large) amounts of inf to myself so that starting characters are not penniless. Now of course I can do this through the email tab but I find it clunky and annoying. There does however exist two slash commands to do with email.
/emailsend - Send message <player names> <subject> <body> <influence>
/emailsendattachment - Send message <player names> <subject> <body> <influence>
However in game neither seem to work.
Does anyone know how to make them work? -
Quote:Plus it's soon to be even better value as when you're bored of playing and take a break for a month or two you can still dip in and see if the fun has returned. Or keep paying the subs as I know some do, and have a nice nest egg the next time you play to grab some more goodies. This is the point I always laugh about whenever anyone gripes about having to pay a few extra dollars for content for this game. Sure no player technically wants to pay additional fees for entertainment. But if I were to compare the total amount I've paid for this game versus the total number of hours of entertainment value I've gotten from it I figure it'd only come out to be about a DIME AN HOUR. To me that's so close to being free that I have no problem whatsoever paying an extra $10 or $20 bucks here or there to keep this great game profitable for the people who make it for us.
Sure it's fun bickering about paying extra for things, but in this case it's not really worth whining about too much.
As it is on paper at the moment I'm looking forward to all aspects of i21... that might change when it goes live but I doubt it. -
SS/FA Farmer ~35 hours and some of that was crafting and respecing to try and get the build right.
Normal characters anything from 3+ years for a kin/dark defender to 120ish for controller. -
TPing the person affected also often works.

Specs:
Athlon 64 x2 4000 - 4Gb Ram - ATI 5700 (512Mb) (IIRC) - 1920x1080 & 1280x1024 (monitors).
I happily run two clients (one to each monitor) at performance settings. Though dual boxing is much easier if I run 2 PCs as I can dual box rather than have 2 clients running at once (which isn't the same thing at all). -
Blue side Bases are IMO worth while, especially at lower levels. Hazard Zones aren't linked nor is PI to either ferries or trains.
Plus great place to store 180 pieces of rare salvage. -
On mine I have five Positron's Blast (not including the proc) plus the proc from Unspeakable Terror (chance to disorient).
-
If you're using Flight as a travel power and plan on keeping hover active while fighting (I would), switch the two extra slots from CJ into hover, you can run both together and it will improve your defence a little. Plus the Kismet will be available at lower levels.

Quote:Mainly because I have a farming character that takes advantage of the above. But I want to develop a character to farm something different because farming AE is ultimately extremely dull.Fiery Aura is best at farming mobs that deal pure fire damage. You can set that up when you pick the powers for your critters in Mission Architect. I don't know why you would be farming Rikti.
A good farming build for Fiery Aura only needs fire defense and recharge bonus. A good build for general content should avoid fire defense because it is a rarely found, especially at 50. I would suggest that you make two different builds. The farming build should be fairly cheap and just get the job done. -
Actually not really after a build (though that would be great, I can use Mids and I know what I want from most of the powers in the game) so much as suggestions for primary/secondary. I have a concept for a character I want to build, it will be a brute but that's the only thing set in stone. So what would be best?
I have a SS/FA/BM which needs 3 small purples to be effective @ +1x8. But I'd prefer to a)Go higher +2x8 Ideally. b)Without needing the insps. Besides I want to start something anew and just use my SS/FA for tickets & TFs.
I don't have unlimited budget and it will need to run normal content, mainly for stuff to do when not nuking Rikti. And while I plan on Incarnating eventually I prefer in general to create good builds from the start and not have to fill gaps with iPowers. -
You can only get it in the character editor, it won't load into the game. You need to edit a costume file and change the body type IIRC to six.
Quote:Soo, are you saying it is possible to modify the files and go below minimum height?
Can you go taller too?
can you tell me how to do both of these?
Warning -- when it comes to doing anything with files, I am a complete idiot. It took me a year to find the screenshot folder on my Mac.
As to their location I have no idea for mac as I'm a windows user. -
I wanted to write a batch command (.bat) that would launch the game from a specific directory and merge in various registry entries. Gave up on that idea.
-
Even if every non-farming user of MA downrated every farm arc played or unplayed I doubt it will make any difference to popularity of farming or farm arcs. As more people - in my experience - farm MA than run legit content.

Quote:It's really for VIP dropping to premium that I want to know, if my level pacted characters on the 2nd account are going to lose the level pact status as soon as the account drops to premium (which it will immediately after i21) I won't bother pacting them in the first place. And I'll stop paying for my 2nd account. You can probably go forward assuming that:
- Free (brand new empty account) players will NOT be able to participate in levelling pacts.
- Premium (returning former subscribers, or Free players who have purchased an upgrade) players can buy (or earn through past veteran status) the ability to join and maintain levelling pacts, despite the lack of a subscription.
- VIP (subscribing) players will continue to have the same level of access that subscribers do now.
-
It might have changed already then. But in the past my pacts have all broken as soon as a single account goes unsubbed (even as in the past for three days with neither account even being logged on during those three days).

Quote:Yep missed that.Right, then you missed the part where it was said that we could not do that.
It's a different system from popmenu and such, so it's not available for edit or override - Unless you want to modify core files, which we all understand is Forbidden.
Be Well!
Fireheart
Think I know why I can't edit that file to make the change I want, well I can edit but then game won't start. File appears to be locked to a specific author if I make a change it won't then start... Shame.
However necessity if the mother of invention.
Found a way to remove that short cut, takes a bit more work but works flawlessly and what is more I won't be editing override files or .piggs.
