Cost doesn't have to be monetary, in this case it was time and effort. My nearest retailer is 60 miles away, that makes it a 120 mile round trip. Worse they didn't do the pre-order pack, so I looked up who did and bought the pre-order from them instead. IIRC it was play.com that did the pre-order.
Next you'll be saying you don't have the internet. -

As I said in the suggestion thread is seems a little unfair on those who actually got the pre-order pack to just give away the special bits they got.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? You didn't pay anything extra to get them after all.
[/ QUOTE ]
So why didn't you get a pre-order of the game too?
I especially pre-ordered the game to get bonus items, I have bonus items that only other people who pre-ordered have got. Why should we be made less special just so those people who couldn't be bothered to pre-order can have the same stuff?
I'm all for unlockable content, I'd even say that awarding the Arachnos helmet and cape, plus the translucent cape from the CoH collectors edition is a god thing, how ever I don't think it should be free. Hell if it is given out free I want the price difference from a collectors edition back (joke BTW).
If I were a six month veteran it would be like me saying I want 48 month rewards... its not fair that others started playing before me. -
Just set /stuck to TP to the SG base exit or similar.
(I mean the place the Base beacon leaves you, not by the actual base entrance that would be exploitable.) -
As I said in the suggestion thread is seems a little unfair on those who actually got the pre-order pack to just give away the special bits they got. Just as I was a little miffed that the collectors edition sprint powers were turned into a vet reward.
Make it a paid for expansion, then it won't be available to everyone who logs in... and the revenue can be used to add genuinely new unlockables that everyone has the chance to work for. -
Coming late to this thread...
My rough current build on LN... I say rough because while its where I plan on taking it and have some of the enhancements I don't play her an awful lot now so I'm not doing much more than channelling the odd drop in her direction. My other scrapper, controller and blaster currently have priority, especially the scrapper who is BS/Rgn so needs some of the same IOs.
Tried to use the sets to maximise my usage of slots, though that does bump the price up an awful lot, but being able to drop a slot from both IH and DP is good and means I can add full sets (or nearly) to some of my attacks. I generally only PvE on my scrappers so fly is fine, I have enough end to run fly all the time pretty much only switching it off in AV fights or if I need a specific position. Besides I find Ariel Superiority to be one of the best pool attacks, it does decent damage and with the knockdown has a good ability to cut the incoming damage to you. All mobs with the exception of AVs & GMs (or anything using their code / or things that only fly like arachnos flyer) get knocked on their [censored] after one or two applications.
I dropped MoG years ago when it was still okay and haven't used it much until recently, however since the last change I will always take it as it is now a t9 power to use. 30s of Nigh invulnerability is definitely not to be sniffed at especially on a regen. With this I can leap into a mob take the alpha (not from AVs) and expect to survive. I would definailt advocate it be taken these days.
Pre IOs I generally slot 2x ACC 3x DMG and then one Recharge. For five slotted powers I drop the end redx. With CIOs I tend to slot the same way until 35+ (my level) then I often use 2x ACC, 2x DMG 1x Recharge (for five slots or add a recharge for six) this is mainly as by this point I mostly am starting to add sets to the powers.
With both Stamina and QR I find slotting FA with just 4 slots to be quite enough, though prior to IOs I would have recommended two End Rdx 2 to-hit buffs.

A note on the actual IO sets, because this is still what I'm planning I have just whacked in the requisite number rather than picking the exact IO (E.g. Crushing Impact which I want five of for the +5% recharge...). Except for Recon, DP & IH which I have listed exactly what I have and want. -
I have it on my Blaster but TBH if she wasn't 50 I might well re-roll with something more powerful. /Dev isn't exactly Über and because I went Nrg/Dev with the old defiance her intended role is no longer there. However I love having near perfect stealth, she is nearly a ranged heroic stalker.
-
Yes.
Its just auto turret that sort of floats along behind you.
It doesn't do a great deal of damage nor can it take a great deal.
TBH its still a bit sucky and it looks [censored]...
A Nemesis Jaeger now... -
According to the test notes (not looked in the patch notes) it is a visual indication of when you get a critical hold/immobilize/stun/etc.
-
Only two healers in my SG it'll take me years just to get the first badge... :'(
-
I know after a while you get a inspiration dispenser with your SG healing badge, is this a made item or can you place it from a normal medical section?
If it is a made item (from salvage) can it be made in a SG that has the badges and placed in a SG that doesn't? So if I make it while in a SG that has the badges it gets added to my personal items list, then I quit that SG, rejoin/join my own SG and place it from there.
a)Will this work?
b)What salvage does it require?
c)What are the power/control costs of the basic version of this? -
Uh you do realise that 5x Recharge reduction in Hasten is completely pointless? Three will cap the recharge to all intents and purposes, the remaining two add something like 1%, you would be far better off slotting recharges into other powers.
Quick recovery and Stamina get no bonus from having a recharge enhancement bonus in, you'd be better off either putting in the chance for +recovery from the same set, if you want the bonus or if the bonus doesn't matter just dumping in an End Mod IO. Personally I use two End Mod IOs, Plus End Mod and Chance for +recovery from Performance shifter.
Take a slot out of Health and pop it into Fast Healing, the regen bonus is better in Fast Healing.
As to expense we obviously have a different view on what is and isn't expensive. -
UBH? Is that a good thing to be on?
And I'd need to know the name... best contact me in game. (Which will be tomorrow now, going to bed with my teddy bear.
Plush toys FTW!!! -
Well its not unique so I'm slotting it evrything...
(except my nuke and trip mines)
Meant Ranged AoE...
*looks at time of time of post*
*wonders why I didn't spot that error* -
Sadly I live on a real farm... much prefer the in game type as you can just stop after an hour or so... you can't IRL as the animals need looking after etc.
-
Planning on slotting lots of Force Feedback Chance to recharge into my Nrg/Dev, which powers should I be slotting first? The Ranged PBAoE or the Ranged Damge? I know its a knockback set, just wondering if I have an increased chance for it to proc if I hit many targets or one. If I hit a group of ten foes with explosive blast do I get one chance or once chance per mob?
-
I'm something of a part time farmer, I suspect a fair number of people are. I farm for influence to equip my mains, I farm for XP to level my alts. When I farm I tend to look through the search box and invite people to my team who expressly wish to farm. And I prefer people who will make a difference, leeches can be invited but only if they ask nicely.
I wonder however is there a defiant farming channel I can put a team member request out onto? I don't like asking people to fill, mainly as I hate being asked myself, I won't spam people with invites like that.
Uh sorry rambling...
Defiant Farming Channel? -
Hehehe got nova now, I just don't see it as viable for solo levelling... at fifty though it rocks.
-
Not Applicable is now recruiting.
After many years in the wilderness my SG is finally opening its doors to the general public. If you want to know more read on... or not.
<ul type="square">[*]Who we are:
Currently we are a small band of players who enjoy playing together, currently I think there are five real players in the SG and one fake. We happily invite either type to join us. You might well wonder what we call a fake player. In this case the fake player is my 2nd account thus fake.We currently only have a presence on Defiant and only play heroes... well that is to say there is no Not Applicable villainous group, we have no issues with people who like villains... even if they do suck.
[*]Who I am:
My name is Lost Ninja, though I have other names too. I have been playing City of Heroes since the EU launch however over the years I have taken several breaks, the most recent of which lasted 9+ months and ended mid March, currently I am subbed up till the begining of June, however with the new content present in i12, barring unforeseen circumstances I plan on playing for several more months at the least.
[*]What we offer:
We offer a friendly group of people who play lots, who like to have fun. A base with a fair amount of functionality. For those who commit their time to our cause there is also the possibility of getting free IOs and other enhancements. Membership permitting we plan on running one of the easier trials at least once a week to help fund our addictions. Whether or not you plan on getting a rare recipe or respec is up to you as is what you do with them. We have no rigidly enforced prestige earning or costumes. Come and go as you will.
However obviously those that commit time or prestige to our cause will of course get the better rewards.
We have a forum, and a Ventrillo server (15 man ATM), a live chat system might be added at a later date.
[*]What we are looking for:
Essentially we want everyone. But we will be picky...
[*]Anything you should know:
I Dual-Box - So if you think people who for whatever reason and by whatever method play more than one character at a time is a cheat or a generally bad type, you probably don't want to join.
We have an official SG costume, though it isn't enforced.
Only leaders get to edit the base. (e.g. Me)
You have to earn 200k prestige before gaining access to base storage. Though you can use the workshops at any level.
We don't support farming or power levelling, that doesn't mean we don't do it. But if you think that joining us is a quick method of getting to 50 you might be surprised.
I am known to have a very odd sense of humour.
[*]I have read the post and/or looked at your forum so know what I'm getting into and want to join what next:
#Contact me or another leader (just me at time of writing).
#Either make a post in the recruitment thread in the Defiant Heroes board.
#Or by preference create a new account on the SG forums and make yourself known to us.
#Wait for an invite.[/list]

Not so bothered by the main stream TFs TBH, however I'll be happy to come along if I'm around on 2nd or 3rd Respec trials. Eden trial, Sewer Trial, or the Hess TF. The others I might do depends on what I'm doing when asked.
No SFs though not a villainous type. -
Uh...:
1)Its not intended as a pure farming build, but it must be able to farm as I need some income.
2)My overall aim with set bonuses was toward regen because it was that or recovery and I find I tend to die more than run out of END. Ideally I'd prefer to max out my recharge but that seems to rather gimp the build unless I slot in a lot of purple recipes which I would create a new build for.
3)PSI epic because Indomitable Will grants Mez protection, plus can be slotted with a 7.5% recharge IO. And with some extra recharge can be made perma (or very nearly). -
Well with so much input I looked at guides on the US forums, I only found one and it doesn't mention ancillaries at all that I could see, I came up with this:

Needless to say I want to test it (character copy seems dead) and I can't afford all the sets at the moment... still its fire kin so that won't take me long.
Comments/Thoughts please. -
Having reached the vast heights of level 49 on my Fire/Kin and just receiving a respec (thanks guys), I'd like to move to a level 50 build. Going to be using it for some farming but mainly teaming with friends and probably doing some oroborowhatsit missions (solo and with friends) can anyone reccomend a build for such a thing? Not so interested in sets as I can't really afford the stuff that would make me uber yet, though knowing what others use would be cool.
