It sounds like Dungeon Runners may be facing the axe.
[/ QUOTE ]
Having played both the free and paid for versions, I cannot say I am all that surprised... never saw such a shallow game before. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry I now understand your 3/4 word post.
I dont know what you are basing that on as other games dont have that lag as far as I know that have 1 server (EVE - is the only one I have expierence of, but I am sure - dare i say it- WoW doesnt AFAIK)
[/ QUOTE ]
WoW does lag, both when playing on the Paris servers and allegedly on the US servers.
And saying that EVE doesn't lag... ever tried a fleet battle? Never heard of people crashing nodes to stop something bad happening to their property?
Super server is a whole different thing to transferring to the US, one in very unlikely and the other is unneeded. IMO. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just the one post.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah my reply to the post got deleted too... Point was made and thread was fixed. -
Personally I'd remove the two hour limit, make it last as long as you want. But then people wouldn't bother paying for server transfers.
What I'd really like to see is a server transfer fee that would allow you to move as many or as few characters at once as you like. Rather than just one at a time. -
It hadn't got one yet.
I hope though that they offer to move said team sideways into other departments. -
http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/in...;threadID=8785
Though I'm actually using an older version.
AFAIK and assuming since I spoke to a GM there hasn't been a rule change/clarification Multi-Boxing is 100% allowed providing that each action your characters perform is triggered from a key press.
Simplest form of multi-boxing would be to use two wireless keyboard receivers and one keyboard. Further that would be impossible to stop as its all hardware.
Software multi-boxing is in effect a cheaper alternative to the hard core hard ware multi-boxing tools which will set you back hundreds of dollars (US).
Personally I have a Belkin n52 and a mouse for each PC, plus a normal keyboard for my main PC. My alt account follows my main. I have some macros that allow me to toggle things on/off (mainly travel powers) but most of what is multiplexed is the actual power activation. I keep meaning to sort out a full guide but never get round to it. -
For a server jump within a region (Defiant -> Union or Freedom -> Vigilance) I think its a great idea and would make PvP tournaments much easier amongst other things. I'd get round naming issues with something like:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
Defiant's
The
Legendary Inscrutable
Lost Ninja
</pre><hr />
And if this could be earned in game on a per character basis I would sign it 100%.
Cross region or with a monetary cost /unsigned. -
CCP Head office is in Iceland, however IIRC Tranquillity server farm is in London.
Its a bit of a non-starter though, to recode CoX so that it was on a shardless system (eg single server for all) you would have to change the entire back end of the game, and probably a good chunk of the front end stuff as well. On top of which you'd have to start a new company to run the new servers, that has all the legal stuff sorted. (If US company can run it why did NCSoft fork to get EU company?)
None of the above would be easy or cheap to do. -
As Ravenswing said, CoX is unique for the way it allows people to play together in large groups. I understand that GW2 will have a sidekick system of sorts.
I liked EVE but IMO for many it isn't an MMO, because the PvE is so limited and the PvP is hardcore you either do it or not, but whilst not PvPing the game is effectivly single player... though I had some good fun with my corp on PvE missions... level 4s in Frigates.
In WoW get into a good guild and levelling is easy, better yet get an addon that takes the information you need to find anything and presents it on the screen. (Lightheaded.) -
Uh...
I am benefiting from an SG, its small and has possibly less features than the biggest or even medium sized SGs but I have complete control over what happens.
I didn't actually say anything about player housing what so ever, I don't care one way or another about it.
100% of the population currently has access to a base editor if they put the work in, and that was all I was saying.
Jeez confrontational much? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
also the base editor im looking forward to for the same reason
[/ QUOTE ]
Dont get too carried away with the base editor. Only Sg leaders and people they nominate can use them, that's something like 5-10% of the population of the game, max.
Which is why I have been crying out for apartments for years. Cause everyone likes to customise, not just the chosen few.
[/ QUOTE ]
I run a SG, there is only me in it and one of my mains just tip-toed past 1 million prestige today. Sure its not got everything in but it is certainly doable to make an SG base with enough good stuff in to have fun and play around with it. -

Some things to consider.
1. NCSoft bought the CoH IP from Cryptic. Cost? Easily $millions
2. NCSoft set up a new company, in new offices, to develop for CoH. Cost? $millions.
3. NCSoft have employed a LOT of new staff to develop for CoH. Cost? $hundreds of thousands.
If anyone SERIOUSLY thinks they're now going to do NOTHING with the IP, after spending all this money, they're idiots.
I guarantee you, good things are coming soon; and very likely some WOW factor stuff. They will HAVE too.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have said this very thing since the day NC announced they bought the game.
But I see not one sign of it and its been almost a year.
I'm now losing confidence in them.
There is absolutely no question in my mind they should be up there, waving the flag by now and they havent.
If you take i13 in its true context, it completely sucks.
In itself it doesnt, but practically everyone was expecting something major and we got (apart from Mission Architecht) same same same and an off line (??????) career "game", which this thread is supposed to be about, lest we forget.
AND I14 is gonna be late.
Sorry.
[/ QUOTE ]
I may be misremembering this but in the past before major content updates, there were always several announcements, as in the first things that they announce are some stuff then later they announce more and more detail for the first things announced. Assuming that this is the case here perhaps it'd be better to wait a little before crying doom so loudly. And for all we know CO could bomb completely and DCU only released on XBOX. The future is not yet written (unless you work for Oru-boru-wotsit) if this is all the content that we get for i13 I would be slightly more cautious but to start with we don't know for sure that it is. GR has said several times that there will be more. But even if it is it is entirely possible that i14 will be ready to ship just as CO or DCU are, which IMO would be the best thing to do anyway. -
Getting a bit personal guys, GR will lock us and all this effort will go to waste.
-
You used to be able to rate posters on this board (like the stars for threads) but they removed it because it doesn't engender a good community. At risk of agreeing with Tuarus (BTW shouldn't that be Taurus?) it'd be a backward step to add something like this.
-
I run two accounts on two PCs and a software multiplexer. My follower is a fully active player, when I hit fulcrum I get two fulcrums, when I hit fire cages I get two fire cages. AFAIK it is possible to do this with a full team though not having eight PCs or accounts haven't actually tried it. Software I use is called Octopus, its no longer in development and was written primarily for multi-boxing WoW. It is however free and available fro http://www.dual-boxing.com. Sadly that site is mainly WoW centric but there is some useful information for general multi-boxers.

Sorry and you are? How do you know it is not happening any time soon.
I will discuss in a reasonable manner anything I see fit to discuss wether you like it or not.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because a representative of NC told us it isn't.
You're free to discuss it anyway you see fit, just as we're free to disagree with you anyway we see fit.
Freedom of speech isn't just one way yanno
[/ QUOTE ]
I know it isnt steel. But please direct me to a post any where on this forum where I have told someone not to post anymore? I take on board constructive critism and refine my points. I have addressed in my post many of the previous problems that people saw in a server merge and although the solutions I have suggested are not ideal thay are that just suggestions. I will continue to revise them as options and thoughts help this process.
[/ QUOTE ]
Looks at the other thread....
Hmm you might not have 'said' it but you sure as hell don't want some people commenting on your threads. -
[ QUOTE ]
Okay folks Im back with another thread to get the little grey cells working overtime.
As before I dont expect replies to this thread, in fact Id prefer that no one replied so it doesnt descend into a flame war of posts and the point becoming lost as people lose there tempers.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you don't want replies, DO NOT post. The whole point of any forum is to exchange information.
[ QUOTE ]
We all know that you must have a game account to register to post in the forum. Which is an excellent idea, if somewhat limiting. Therefore its time for an overall.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thing is it is people who on trials that need realistically to ask questions the most, they after all are the people we want to encourage to play, making whole swathes of the board inaccessible to them won't encourage them to stick around now will it?
[ QUOTE ]
All posts to the open board (either new threads or replies) would have to be moderated prior to posting. This would prevent threads being;
de-railed
spammed to death
descending into flame wars
[/ QUOTE ]
Quite aside from the extra work that this would involve for the mods, whose definitions would be used to decide what is off topic in a thread? Take the Long QoL Improvements thread on the suggestions board, would people who posted things that most see as game changing things or things that they might like but aren't really QoL have their posts removed and be worried about being banned?
[ QUOTE ]
while at the same time making sure that potential new player have a positive first impression of the game / player base.
[/ QUOTE ]
The reverse would be true see above.
[ QUOTE ]
In addition to the open board be available to everyone, the other boards should be hidden, until logged in. We all know that some threads can get a little heated at times, which is not good for new players to see.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only board that I can think that trial players wouldn't need hypothetically would be a board the only deals with content that they cannot access, however they still should be able to read it so that they can see what they might do in the future.
If when you say new players:[ QUOTE ]
...for new players to see...
[/ QUOTE ]You mean that some players who haven't been playing for long (and you'd need to define how long you actually need to play to stop being considered a 'new' player) would in fact be cut off from a large proportion of the board until that hypothetical time when they are no longer new, that's really going to encourage peole to stay on isn't it?
[ QUOTE ]
Next, adult only boards. I dont have the figures, so this is based on personal experience, but I believe there should be an adult board, where some of the forum rules are a little more relaxed. For example, users can have adult conversations, discuss politics, relationships, love life, jobs etc. Let the forum become a place where people can turn to for help and advice. We have a lot of users, and therefore a lot of life experience. We can learn from each other, and help each other when there is no one else to turn to.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a game forum that is for discussing the game and some limited connected items (Comics and Comic culture) why on earth would you need anything else here? If you want to discuss 'adult' subjects there is a plethora of other sites that cover such subjects in far greater detail, go join them... a lot of them are free too.
[ QUOTE ]
I know the forum is part of our extended community, but I would like to see posters limited to actual players, i.e. people who
[/ QUOTE ]
But I want to see anyone who doesn't agree with my opinions stopped from posting? Sure sounds like that.
[ QUOTE ]
Have an active account (not lapsed)
[/ QUOTE ]
Nothing new there, that is already a limitation... I know.
[ QUOTE ]
Have spent time (4hrs+) in game in the past month
[/ QUOTE ]
Not difficult to do, heck I can manage that... providing its not 4 consecutive hours.
Still I fail to see how having that as a limitation will change anything of the quality of posts.
[ QUOTE ]
Im not sure how many of the people reading this, but PERSONALLY I am growing increasingly frustrated with people posting in threads who spend more time lurking in the forum then they do in game. They appear to post in threads thinking they know everything about the game, and that if anyone disagrees with them or asks for something the other then what is being developed they get shot down.
[/ QUOTE ]
And you know that people posting in your threads break the above two rules how? What I'm trying to say is that if the above to rules were introduced (hope to god they ain't) how will that change what happens now?
[ QUOTE ]
Ive lost track of the number of times these lurkers have forced me to abandon a thread. I say forced because if I didnt leave the thread I would end up getting banned.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you are forced to make a new thread about the self same topics when someone disagrees with you?
[ QUOTE ]
I would love to spend more time in the forums, discussing the game, and making suggestions to improve it, but these lurkers have put me off. And if they have done that to me, how many others are also effected? I believe that these people who claim to speak for the masses have no proof that they do, just as I have no proof that they dont. Instead I believe that posters should stick to their own point of views, and not claim to be speaking on behalf of others. I know that might be a bit like the pot calling the kettle black but hey ho
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's the point you claim that you are speaking for the others who dislike the fact that people might not agree with them hence putting them off the forums, but in the same paragraph decry those who say that they speak for the masses. How is what you different to what you don't like?
[ QUOTE ]
Finally, de-railers.
How many threads have been de-railed by posters posting random stuff. Its time to get tough with them. I believe that if a mod spots someone re-railing a thread with comments not related to the topic, that person should be banned from the forums for a month. Repeated offenders banned for six months.
[/ QUOTE ]
Define de-rail? If you suggest that at level 35 you get a new costume slot and someone then says that new costume slots would be better if you could buy them. That's not the topic for discussion, but would they get a months ban?
[ QUOTE ]
Hmm maybe I lost the plot a little here and there, turned out not so much a limitation on the forum, more time for a make over.
[/ QUOTE ]
TBH perfectly honest I don't see a great deal wrong with the current content of these forums even if the software is looking a little long in the tooth. But there will always be people who disagree with you, both here and in real life, if you can't accept that fact then there really isn't anything that can be done for you. And there will always be people who refuse to accept that they can be wrong. Me I know I am wrongs sometimes, though in this instance I rather feel I am right. -
Some of the people in this thread are so damn negative about the future I wonder why they haven't packed their bags prior to jumping ship.
Neither of the two prospective competitors are this game. I don't want to play DCU because I have no interest in DC, I don't want to play CO because having looked at it it doesn't appear to be something I will enjoy, any more than I want to play WAR or AoC.
If i13 is really pants I might stop playing for a bit, just as I did after i9, but I'm not going to decry NCNCs effort as a waste of time, and certainly not now long before the actual final release of i13. This game already has a lot going for it, an established IP (just like the competition) a player base and developers that do it seems listen somewhat to what the players want (see QoL patches), CO for sure doesn't have that. (Unless Emert has been sacked...)
-
There are other things that red names can do besides locking threads don't you? Like banning you for repeatedly discussing moderator decisions... like you're doing now.
I fail to see what you are planning on achieving here, the answer is no, all that badgering people will get you is apathy and possibly a telling off, or being unable to discuss anything. Why don't you start leveling on the US servers in the way you can, it'd be better use of your time TBH. -
Idea was something of a joke TBH, and I didn't really expect many agreements. OTOH Having played the 1-20 game far too many times, I want to skip it and just start at 20 now and then.
-
An item that is locked to an account (so can only be used by yourself) that can be imbued with XP. In other words at lvl50 you can instead of earning rep/inf/etc as you play you can earn XP, the XP is added to a single use item that you can use from any other character on that account. Accounts may only have of these items at once, it can only be added to from a level fifty character, and the maximum stored XP is enough to level you to 20... obviously you could use several of these to rapidly level a character but the amount of XP is only enough to get to 20, the next use won't get you 20 levels.
Also the rate of adding XP to the item is the same amount of time it would take you to get from 50 -> 51. 20 times for a full XP Box.
Idea being to speed up the creation of alts and get past the boring first few levels that you have done so many times it hurts. And encourage the use of capped characters. -
I'd like to see the ability at 50 to unlock some sort of character of the same AT as you but starting at 14 or 20.... and yeah its been suggested before.
-
I'm trying to log in and the updater is just sitting at connecting...
The servers appear up, my other machine which I started using the command line option:<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>D:\Games\CoH\CityOfHeroes.exe -project "eucoh"</pre><hr /> is working fine.
Any ideas?
((Oops posted in wrong place...))

[ QUOTE ]
How many alts did you create before you
a/Dinging 50 (GRATZ)
b/'Pimped' a build
Also how long did this take you as a secondary question
[/ QUOTE ]
A)Not that many probably a servers worth, with some deletions and remakes. But my first 50 was my 2nd main. I deleted my first main shortly before the freespec with i4 was announced.
B)My first 'pimped' build would be my first fire/kin, be which point I had two lvl 50s. And I only pimp from drops really... Though all my 50s now have some good enhancements I don't see them really as pimped.
C)Started playing with EU launch and Lost Ninja hit fifty shortly after the release of i4, my next 50s were a double ding on Blaster and 1st Fire/Kin and that wasn't until i11/i12 (12/05/08 to be precise) so several years after the first. My next fifty was only three weeks or so later.
