Castle (I think it was him) has actually said he'd love to get mini-games like capture the flag and king of the hill in to PvP. I think PvP NEEDS something like that, tbh.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Looks at WoW's PvP games...

Would make me PvP for sure, I enjoyed PvPing in WoW until they upped the level cap, and might have again but got bored after I had push my main to 70. With the slight exception of the bounty system in Sirens Call PvP in CoH is boring. Thats why I don't do it. No reward and unless you're prepared to cookie cutter your build little chance of being successful in more than the odd encounter. Yes there are better PvPers than me, I don't mind being beaten if I have a chance, having no chance though is boring.

    But I digress... sorry.
  2. Agreed I much prefer the exiting layout/style, though losing the annoyingly large header would be nice.

It doesn't render properly in Opera, the sidebar text is mangled. Works in Konquerer though And in IE6 under WINE, oddly, since the US boards reported it hanging their IE6.

Tis a nice site though, personally I don't like fullscreen background images, but the side links and sub-menu systems are very nice. As is the look-and-feel of the whole site

    [/ QUOTE ]
    IE6 here working properly.

But it looks a bit ... errm.. cheap. nofi offcourse. But taking rendered font-images rather then normal (bigsize) font would been better. (specialy on the left menu).

    [/ QUOTE ]
Using text rather than pre-made images is going to be easier to administrate plus will generally work better for people who use non-standard browsers. (Screen readers for example.)

Personally I was amazed that it is a <table> free design and seems fairly standards compliant.
  4. I generally drop a set IO EndRdx/RunSpeed in sprint, its cheap and boosts both of the things you'd generally want in sprint.

Most of my 50s have a heal so Rest is seldom used or slotted. Brawl gets a level 50 ACC IO just in case.
  5. Servers went live officially on 4th of Feb '05. But were in fact up and running the day before.

I wonder how many of the few who accessed the game a day early on live are still left?

    I'm one.

I know some of the others have certainly left. But are there others still around? we should have a badge.

Edit: Remove the End Cost in SS, its useless.

I can not give any recommendations on /Storm as I have never tried it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Try Storm, its quite end heavy and having END Rdx in SS will help.*

According to my friend who can't be arsed to post.

Officially, 45 months as of 3rd November for me, but unofficially, 46 thanks to EU beta. Not planning on going anywhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This, though due to a certain number of breaks and poorness I'm only badged to 27 months.
  8. Hmm even I might go, depending on finances, and whether or not my friends who frequently run health and safety at NEC are working immediately prior or after...

Is it just the two days or is it longer?

I don't get the ticket thing, do I need two for both days, or will one do both days?
  9. Look at this, the tunnels are marked in a darker shade on the lower left side. Labelled as Arachnos Dig Site.

events are shouted out, if u stand somewhere during it. then ur expected to be atatcked in some sort of manor.-dont like being attacked-dont stand still.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Um, did someone else say anything about not being attacked while "standing still"? If so, I missed it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I did...

I figure there should be an area around trainers, ferries, villain respec chap, etc where you can stand and not be ganked by mobs. Ferries do have drones so they're fine but trainers generally don't, and some of the Zombies are nasty and can kill in the time it takes you to click the trainer work out what you have to pick, look at your build plan, pick it and return to reality. In my case I didn't know about the announcement for PI until I was lying on the floor dead.

Either that or add extra drones to the game during events to protect trainers/respec chap to protect 'busy' players during an actual invasion.
  11. My only tip is to put the fist Nrg attack on auto (the one you have to take) then any mob that gets too close you can target and they go flying... Saved the [censored] of my fire/nrg a number of times.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    Lol.

Sorry ninja but i knew this was going to happen. First people were very mad that the invasions didnt came as often as advertised. And now, after just a few days, people are starting to complain that they happen to often.

    Can't win here.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Rikti raids are a case in point, they don't affect every single zone at once... whereas the Zombie raids have effected every zone (apart from the deeper shadow shard & PvP zones) to the point where I am pretty much logging out when they start. They didn't work correctly to start with its true, but IMO forcing me to log due to the server wide raids is also not working right...

And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Most of CoH has a pair of zones at each level (eg Atlas Park/Galaxy City, Steel Canyon/Skyway...) would it be so hard for the devs to in future make sure that only one half of those zones are plagued? As for villains while I don't play it enough to really care I would think missing some zones some of the time would be fine.

I like the idea, and I'm all for more zone wide events, however forcing everyone on a server who isn't in a mission to partake in them is IMO a backwards step.

    [ QUOTE ]
The only solution I see is to make events like this in the future to be something that doesn't happen very often. maybe 2 times a day max. That will keep the community sharp and interested for a longer period. Or it would cause them to complain even harder.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I have no complaint of frequency, they happen about as often as I would expect, gives everyone a chance of them, but reducing the amount of zones effected at a time, those people who want to partake can go to the zone where it is happening, those who don't can go where it isn't. In the last few days at least twice have their been raids that effected just about all the zones. (with the above noted exceptions). Until i13 I don't have a huge reason to login, if this keeps up I won't login at all! At least until i13 and I'm not paying for something I don't play. If this is going to happen next year again I'll not be playing/paying for that period.

((edit: forgot to post half my post ))
  13. Too add, you ought to be able to buy website stuff in game too... to buy the wedding packs and the cyborg pack you have to rootle around on the website to find what you want to buy.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I posted a reply on the youtube site and Samuraiko asked me to post this in reply to everyone.

    "Hello all!

I saw the thread about my video, and I wanted to thank everyone for enjoying my latest effort! I know, I know, everyone wants to see more about the actual issue, but if a) I'd had access to closed beta, and b) used it to post stuff before NCNC said it was okay, I'd be a dead woman. So while I wish I could give the fans what they want, no such luck. (And I am entirely too arrogant to use the footage that they DID post to MMORPG.COM about Pain Domination and Shields... I use footage that *I* shoot!)

    HOWEVER...

As is also part of my usual tradition, I'll be doing a full-on, no-holds-barred, "holy [censored] that's what it looks like!" trailer for I-13 as soon as I'm able. So fear not, you'll get what you want eventually.

To everyone who thinks NCNC should just hire me, don't I wish. However, I took it as a good sign that I was invited to present at HeroCon 2008 on how to make movies, so who knows, perhaps in the not-too-distant future...

    Stay tuned, and thanks again!

Poke Posi, or whoever it is that needs to be poked, Samuriko should be making your videos officially!

I know we aren't allowed to start petitions... but this is my signature for the one I'm not creating.
  15. I have tried all three myself at different times. I tend nowadays to either not bother or get Conserve Power. I know several people who swear by either of the torrent like powers from dark or body pools, and I know someone who always uses the weapon mastery.

Yes to new epic pools, but changing or removing the existing pools would be bad.
  16. And stop them spawning in places you need to stand to do things... like next to trainers when an even con Zombie minion can 2-3 shot a squishy who is just training up, it begins to suck.

TBH if this event remains in next year (and I'm still playing) I'll not be playing for the 2-3 weeks its on badges or not. It lasts too long and the invasions are too widespread and too often. I like them now and then but after you have the badges they get very annoying. Sorry.
  17. If NCSoft had any sort of clue they'd get her/him into the closed beta like a shot and then liase to make a really epic video that shows some of what is coming.
  18. He always seem to fly when I see him... even when walking would be more normal... (On TV I mean...) Now Clark Kent walks but then this isn't City of Some Random Reporter!
  19. There is one animation for walk which relies on the size of the NPC that is walking, if you make the NPC bigger you'd need a faster/slower animation (I forget which). Ergo for players it would be extremely difficult with the current animation system. Perhaps in the future if they update the engine it might be possible but TBH I don't think they'll update the engine to allow people to be 'less' super...

  21. If I play to my best ability in a team on any of my Damage dealing ATs (Controller (fire/kin), Scrapper (several) or Blaster (Nrg)) I can out agro a Tauntless Tanker, which in the case of my blaster and controllers mean I invariably die, or have to stop doing any damage so they can regain agro. In a team situation a tankers job is to hold agro so that the team can pound on the mob with some saftey. If a tank can retain agro without taunt in that situation let him/her. If they can't then something is wrong.

It is not down to me to tell them but I can offer advice and generally my advice will be to get taunt and learn to love it.

As for not teaming with a tank without it, if I don't know the tank I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, if I do know them, as in I remember them from previous occasions it depends on what I remember.
  22. Fear is good even if the mobs try and retaliate as you debuff the accuracy/to hit along with the fear effect (the debuff is the greater part of it), if they can't hit you due to -acc/-tohit then it works much the same as an additional shield (+Def). Just not exactly quantifiable.

My only real question was whether the extra END cost of CoF was worth it which from the answers so far I'd guess it is. When I used OG on my defender I didn't notice them sliding off but my defender didn't have a PBAoE damage aura running for them to escape from and so the effect probably wasn't so noticeable.
  23. How good is CoF? I was planning on taking OG as I had it on a Defender and liked it, I figured that while CoF was good it'd be yet another heavy END drain to watch out for and OG is very low end at cost of health, but with Dark Regen up every 15s or so the damage shouldn't hurt that much... or should it?

This is roughly what I was thinking...

Some of the KB IOs I have already... how many to be effective in PvE would I be wanting? Or should I just stick with Acrobatics? Even with this sort of recharge, am I going to be lacking attacks? Primarily wanting this tank to be a tank rather than a scranker, mainly as its my first serious effort at a tank. Rest of the expensive stuff I can probably buy at some point as my cash reserves are getting stronger. But in general for the real build replace the really expensive stuff (LotG +Recharge Numina's etc) with something a bit cheaper.

Easy fix. Give door mobs the same aggro control as ambushes; they only aggro on the team that clicks the door, unless you attack them. Add a bit of Clockwork pursuit code, and Robert is your mum's brother.

Unless the lowbies have some sort of damage or taunt aura, both my fire/kins waiting in PI @50 for friends and my lowbie dark/fire tank have been attacked by someone else's mobs due to them either leading the mobs through my characters or to my characters. My fire/kins survived as I was present and they are fairly hard to kill (800 healing per use ) but my tank died twice to different mobs. I didn't petition as I reckon a lot of it is not thinking more than actual griefing.
