  3. Thinking on the original comment:
    [ QUOTE ]
"...I will say that there are things coming, some of which we have been hinting at, or maybe even flat out denying was even possible, for a long time."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now think of the things that they have flat out denied were possible in the past.

Going Rogue - They have said right since i7 and CoV launch that they'd like to do it and its on the drawing board even if its not soon.

Level Cap Increase - They have never to my knowledge denied it is possible just that they will never do it. It just represents a huge amount of work that they will have to repeat whan the game gets stale again. (See WoW)

Coming Storm - Slated for i15, what form it takes is anyone's guess.

Engine Update - TBH this in my opinion is overdue anyway, but I don't think they ever said it won't/can't happen.

Paid Expansion - The Americans will no doubt wail and gnash their teeth and it won't happen like last time, again not impossible.

    etc...

The only option I can see from the other suggestions that has been flat out denied as possible in the past is power customisation. And with a possible competitor showing off exactly that feature my personal bet is on this as the long denied feature going live in the not too distant future, either before or as CO goes live IMO.

I think that a paid expansion or even sequel is something that I personally can see coming in the not too distant future either, the paid expansion would include an engine update. And after the hire of the artist a few weeks back who does concept art (David Nakayama) that to me seems extremely likely.

So thats what I see coming either a paid for expansion that includes an engine update or a genuine CoH2. I'd also guess that the going rogue and any neutral faction system would be part of the paid for expansion along with new zones, new TFs and potentially new powers.

Plus in the normal game an update that includes limited power customisation with easily customizable power-sets done first with others coming in the future as with proliferation.
  4. Shouldn't split the Shards up IMO just one job and that'd be Explorer.
And if you need to split them up not Astronaut or Intergalactic Defnder as the Shards are a different dimension not outerspace.

FBZ - Quantum Scientist - Gain DMG Boost vs Rularru.
Cascade Archipelago - As above I like it...
The Chantry - Pan Dimensional Traveller - Boost to all travel powers (5%).

As for the rest I agree, especially Salvager.

Is there anyone who honestly thinks that issue i13 goes anywhere substantial towards doing that job?

Problem is what precisely do you expect? To remove the gap between Hard Core PvPers and normal PvPers would take quite a lot of work, if you remove all need of IO sets then those of us who have spent our hours working to earn them will hate it, and if you make all IOs very easy to get so that even those people who don't have time or interest in farming can get them again you are directly penalising those of us who do have the interest and time to earn them.

i13 introduces the Merit system which will in part at least get rid of some of the need to farm, you can earn merits all the way from level 1 to 50 and more from TFs & Trials. If they make access to IO sets too easy I think a lot of the people who have earned their IOs would be really angry. I know I would.

Or they could just reduce PvP to Brawl, Sprint and Rest, which would be boring but very balanced and very little slotting would make a great deal of difference.
  8. Or create a wholly new character, go into AP type /chat_save logout again and log into the character who is borked and type /chat_load. Best thing about this method is that it only resets the chat settings and not anything else.

Did they not update for Good vs. Evil?
  10. [ QUOTE ]
As this game gets older, it becomes more and more "worse for vaule" because there is better games for equal or even lower prices. So, now it's time to make a start. I've seen that the one thing that put people off is the price. Paying over £100 a year is definetely not on, for lots of people. There needs to be a drop in sub price if NC wants more people into the game.

    Anyway, comment, sign, unsign, whatever

    [/ QUOTE ]
Before I started on MMOs and while I lived in the big city, I would go out most Friday and Saturday nights, most weeks those two days would absorb over £100 (£50 each), now I can get a whole years entertainment for the same price...

    Server Merges?

Really don't need another thread like this.

    No thanks.

Servers are not that empty yet.

And if you perceive that they are there is nothing stopping you making the decision to move characters to Union, or restarting on the US servers.
  12. I saw a video of the creator on YouTube some time ago, not sure who made it or why, but it was over a year ago I saw it I think.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
The only thing special cox has left for me is lake of content, seeing as how they have removed the speed of the pvp now,

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Fixed that for you.

And why stay if there is nothing left you like?

Me I have played both games (and others), CoH has out and out the best customization of avatar that any MMO I have tried or seen, though I hear Hello Kitty is good too... It allows me to feel super just in everyday things, it has an awesome community, it has a greater spread of character types than WoW where you pretty much have to cookie cutter to be effective in either PvE or PvP. And teaming is great, WoW is solo 90% of the time until you hit the cap at which point it flips to 10% solo, mostly grind and 90% teaming. CoH encourages you to team.

I love SG bases, even games that give 'guild bases' like Guild Wars don't give a great deal of thought to having them, they're just premade 'houses' which having seen how much you can do in CoH's flawed editor is amazing...

I do get bored of CoH, I've had long 9 month plus breaks, but i always come back with new things to try. After all even at the slow pace of change in CoH there is always something to try I haven't before... And if I ever get over the whole 'evil' thing I still have 90% of the CoV content untried, so I have another 4 years worth of playing to try.
  14. Depends who you ask and which server you use.

Union is arguably the more populated but many of us find that both servers are fairly populated. However the US servers are in fact more populous, personally I find Defiant has an adequate population to support my play style.

No idea who you are but welcome back anyway.

IMO, the only TFs that dont work are Positron and Synapse. (and Citadel a bit, but least it can be done relatively fast)

Positron because it's long, boring and stupidly hard with an inexperienced team as has been said above. The bad thing is, the TF isnt hard as in challenging. It's hard as in annoying.

Synapse because it's just boring and can take quite long. It isnt annoying though.

And Citadel, very easy TF but it's also very dull because it's basically the same mish over and over and over again. Defeat council in cave bunker. 100 times over. Blah.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Any of the Shard TFs work?

I mean they're long and boring but do they give bang for buck?
  16. Copy 10x Maxed out character to test with, respec each character sell all enhancements. Or keep better ones, transfer 1 character to live = profit.

Matt Miller: Mission Architect is a strong enough feature that it can, and should, stand on it’s own for an issue. We are very excited to see what the players come up with!

    [/ QUOTE ]
TBH if thats it for i14 I'll be long gone and that is for someone who is looking forward to the architect more than anything else ever announced. And who has been writing plots for missions since it was announced.

it seems to me that the scrapper has just some clones of the same with IMO a bad on with it, and the stalker has the best sets for anyone that's suppose to attack fast.
doesn't that mean it's time for an overhaul because of an unbalance in the game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...over-reacting much?

    [/ QUOTE ]
nope, if ppl are worrying about that hide has to be exclusive to stalkers, while scrappers have no special power, then there really is something wrong here...
not saying scrappers are bad, just that stalkers have all the good sides.

    [/ QUOTE ]
People might be worried if Stalkers and Scrappers were even supposed to be the same. A stalker is in effect a melee range blaster, while a well constructed Stalker can scrap its certainly not what they're best at. Each AT has a niche and a supposed strength, while the CoH inherents were mainly added as an after thought as they were added to match the Inherents that came with CoV.

Besides if they were going to make scrappers more like any part of CoV it should be the Brute.

    [ QUOTE ]
I would suspect that its more a time constraint and going back and adding a glowmap to each and every costume part (x3 for the three body types) is just too much work. Weapons are IIRC only a single model per item which then uses the body scale for size, so you don't have a female bow a male bow and a huge bow its just a bow... could be wrong though.

If they started adding new costume parts with glowmaps they would be nagged half to death and back to go back over older costume parts to update them.

Also while this doesn't exactly support my theory it doesn't harm it: If you look at the really old CoH costume parts they are all clearly older tech than the costume parts added with villains, costume parts added with more recent packs/issues are again better looking than CoV costume parts.

I suspect we'll get glow maps on costumes but probably not soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But again, I'm suggesting we use existing patterns as glowmaps, not making new stuff. These patterns would simply work as-is on any costume piece that can already use a pattern.

    [/ QUOTE ]
But if you haven't got time to do additional work it doesn't actually matter how simple and easy to do it is you don't have the time. And while I'm sure there are things in the next issue we can all see that could be left out so that something like this can be added others won't agree with precisely what is left out.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Cant see a problem myself, if you dont like what the team's doing, leave it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Welcome to City of Solo Play.

CoX is until now been really good at encouraging people to play in teams, this change more than any other will reverse that ethic. While some people will be quite good at sharing out whose missions are done I'm betting most PuGs won't.

I don't want it exploitable allowing people to get easy merits by just doing some story arc missions. But at the moment it goes to far the other way. Especially as even if everyone in the same team has the same contact there is no garantee that they will get the same arc, or even get an arc at all.

All it will mean is that everyone who wants lost of merits will farm TFs.
  21. I'd love to see a Ninja like powerset for scrappers...

I'd have to remake LN though.

I enjoyed taking my lv36 Scrapper through Outbreak. I created her and forgot to complete the tutorial as I played the tanker version instead.

I got through the Contaminated in record time

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean in the flash back? If not how did you get a level 36 Scrapper into Outbreak? Or was this some weird thing way back when Outbreak was first introduced?
  24. Having just spent last weeks subs on Stick It I vote Missy Peregrym for Sister Psyche... she isn't a red head but this is a film so that doesn't matter any more than she isn't an ace BMXer or Gymnast.

She does however look great in Spandex and doesn't have a max chest slider body.
  25. Personally I'd prefer to make merit rewards shared out in the team, and have rewards for each mission. But I'd much prefer to see all non-paper missions (not run to or hunts either) award a single merit with a bonus for story arcs.

Or make it possible to share arcs/contacts thus allowing everyone to gain bonuses from the same arc at the same time.
