How are other players using their second build on the likes of Scrappers and Tanks?
[/ QUOTE ]
I can't see a lot of point on a scrapper, although I don't doubt someone will find something.
On a tanker I think the standard solo/team split applies. Soloing as a tanker now, your defences are too strong, your attacks are too weak, and you probably have some teaming-only powers like Taunt taking up early power selections.
I'm planning to rework tankers around a tauntless build that cuts some defences - for instance I figure soloing you can go Resist Physical Damage not Temporary Invulnerability, and save a bit of blue into the bargain.
Then the team build can drop a few powers taken to ease soloing - particularly crash-powers like Rage.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm wondering about a fear heavy Dark/Regen build but am waiting on a hero planner to work out what to do. -
Me I know that feeling, I have felt it at several times in the past though I am, I hope, moving beyond it.
I don't think I ever met you in game but speaking as one who knows those feelings I wish you every luck in beating those feelings.
And if it is a slight over dramatisation on your part and the feelings are to do with the game na d not life, I know those feelings too. Once again good luck. -
I'm guessing he means to NPC vendors, so what ever the salavage goes for rather than having to click Sell over and over...
/signed even with a 20% reduction in value if used. -
[ QUOTE ]
Given that debating is pointless with someone who is far to arrogant to ever accept anyone elses opinion as valid, one may as well make pedantic quibbles as strong arguments.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey I resemble that remark...
I misread what LB had written, should have read that there is only one Super Hero MMO = True which AFAIK is true... -
[ QUOTE ]
Fact: There is one super hero game
[/ QUOTE ]
True
[ QUOTE ]
Fact:Anyone who likes the idea of playing a super hero on an mmo comes here.
[/ QUOTE ]
True. But some don't stay because its not what they like. Or their PC doesn't like it.
[ QUOTE ]
Fact:There are soon to be other super hero games
[/ QUOTE ]
Again True. However none are going to be the same as this one. And while some will leave this not everyone will just because other MMOs are newer.
[ QUOTE ]
Fact: they will have the success and failures of this game to look at and learn from
[/ QUOTE ]
Just as this game has learned from others.
[ QUOTE ]
Fact: On the face of it at least they will have: end game, crafting, abilty to pick and mix powers, better customisation, destructable enviroments etc etc
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong. This is a supposition. Until other MMOs are live anything that their devs have said will be in game can only be said to most likely be included.
[ QUOTE ]
Fact:At least some of the people that pick up that game initially will come from here.
[/ QUOTE ]
True. But also true and likely some of the people who don't play anything now will try other MMOs and come here.
[ QUOTE ]
Fact: If word of mouth and reviews of those games are good there will be an almighty exodus from here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again supposition. If you listen to word of mouth and reviews then WoW has been killed at least three times. AoC and WAR were both touted as WoW killers but didn't even make a sizeable dent in WoW populations.
[ QUOTE ]
Fact: This game has had the time to implement things to ensure minimal rather than maximum damage when that arrives.
[/ QUOTE ]
Supposition. You don't know what the devs have planned, it might be [censored] into a bucket and pointless as you seem to think or it might bring the game back into the forefront of MMOs.
[ QUOTE ]
Seems to me all they've done of any significance is isolated a section of the very crowd they want to improve. And, Castle, who i've warned about before, did it in a very statesman esque way.
[/ QUOTE ]
What he's cut the dev team down to 12 people and only listened to what his 'vision' wants?
[ QUOTE ]
Is it?
Well there are quite a number of us (me included) who applied for closed beta on the new game. Thats just from these boards.
[/ QUOTE ]
And? I applied to closed beta, yet have no intention of playing the live game. I also applied for Tabula Rasa, Auto Assault and a couple of other games. Many people apply for betas because they want to see what something is like, not because they plan on actually paying to play.
[ QUOTE ]
How many people will use the architecht is debatable. We cant comment until we see its scope.
[/ QUOTE ]
But you're happy to comment on how doomed the game will be when other unproven games come out? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Either which way we are all in the same boat with regard to it all - so in a way everyones even.
Fiscally anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mother, that is incorrect and is the core of what I'm saying.
We're not equal at all. Those who can play for umpteen hours per day and are happy to endlessly farm have a distinct advantage over those of us who dont.
And there is a lot more of us than of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
You do know that you can only play one at a time don't you?
I'm assuming you don't because you seem to think that people who have two fully IO setted builds are going to have some sort of advantage over people who don't. Next you'll be saying that people with two or more accounts ruin the game.
[ QUOTE ]
It's made a great advancement for a very limited number of players and a frustration for the vast majority.
[/ QUOTE ]
What vast majority?
While I know these forums are not representative of the players as a whole, you are the only person that I recall being so against the whole idea. You are then the spokesperson for a vast silent majority... Or can you actually give some figures to back up this theory?
[ QUOTE ]
The whole key to making anything, never mind something as complex as PvP, popular is accessability.
[/ QUOTE ]
They haven't changed the accessibility at all though. If you only PvP there is no change. If you only PvE there is no real change, though some people have already mentioned having a build for teaming and a build for solo or farming. If you want to do both you can either go on as you were or you can have two different builds.
[ QUOTE ]
And this just made it that little bit harder because the more advanced players will be able to create PvP perfect "monsters" and the rest of us will be even less likely to match them than before.
[/ QUOTE ]
Problem is LB they can do that without the dual build system. If they have two perfect builds with every IO that they want they can only use one at a time, so to anyone fighting them you will only see that build. They aren't going to leap into battle hit you a few times then swap to another build. Besides why, if they have one perfect build, would they need another?
[ QUOTE ]
In a few months this game is gonna see its subs torn like never before. Them focusing on stuff like this while they should have been actually creating innovations to match the new games coming out is a big reason this games going to feel like a tornadoes been whooshing through it.
[/ QUOTE ]
If when CO ships that game steals all the players from a five year old game (nearly) one or two innovations now that can be capped by Cryptic again before release of CO isn't going to make any difference.
And if you honestly believe that a dev team led by the same guy who rode this game practically into the ground can come up trumps in another then I think you can add insane to your signature as well. -
Are missions in TFs going to work in the same way?
Many of the missions I can remember have either the missions in the same zone, if you have to go to the contact the mission is automatically selected when you receive it or the mission is selected for you because its classed as a follow on.
(Separate question)
If you are at the mission door but haven't got the mission selected are you unable to go into the mission? -
[ QUOTE ]
Its a bit worse than ho hum actually.
the only people that can utilise this typically badly thought out multi build system are going to be those that can afford to. In other words the hard core farmers basically.
the vast majority will never be able to do it any real meaningful way.
[/ QUOTE ]
What utter tripe, many people will fully utilise the multi-build system with or without Set IOs. Hell many people play the game now without set IOs, I myself don't have any fully setted builds and I am a farmer. Adding a multi-build feature is not going to change that. But some people will be able to change their build to accommodate different situations, while the feature is aimed at PvP, you only have to look at some of the replies in this thread to see that people have already come up with different ideas as to how they'll use it.
[ QUOTE ]
So, the game will have the few multi built, fully setted alts and the rest will play a kind of catch up they can never achieve.
[/ QUOTE ]
It won't change at all, there are one or two (or more) players who are fully purpled up now and after a few weeks (or less) some players will have two builds. But as you can only use one at a time apart what difference to anyone will it make?
[ QUOTE ]
Ultimately, the whole point to a game like this is to advance your alt as far as the game will let you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Earth to Lionsbane...
Thats how it was before the patch too, or have you found a whole load of end game content that everyone else missed?
[ QUOTE ]
Is this really the direction a sensible game should take?
[/ QUOTE ]
More options are always better, if you don't want to use a feature you don't have to. If its not there those people who do can't.
[ QUOTE ]
Why do they think that this system that will only frustrate the majority of players is a winner?
[/ QUOTE ]
I know what you think but TBH I'll wait until a few weeks have passed before I write it off, it may be that it'll flop and no-one will use it, or it may do really well and become the thing that everyone does use. But to say that a feature won't be used before the servers have been back online for what six hours is plain stupid. -
Was I the only person ho saw that as Filth?
Gets camera and coat... -
[ QUOTE ]
Still, the idea of more unlockable costume content has been one of those things people have wanted... well, since they invented unlockable costume pieces (think it was the witch's hat from Croatoa first).
[ QUOTE ]
Not a "it's not fair™" thread
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, no, since you probably couldn't stop weapon users from unlocking them as well...
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't it the Knitted Cap from the winter event first? (Looks like a santa hat) -
[ QUOTE ]
Looking at the need for Stamina in nearly every build, doesn't this suggest a certain balance problem?
[/ QUOTE ]
What need for stamina in nearly every build?
You don't 'need' to take stamina on most builds, some do which is why its a pool and not an inherent. -
There is no direct 'logout' slash command. However if you type /buycoh and click yes you get logged out to the main login screen.
-
I tend not to do it with the layout myself, but I do do it with my chat.
What I should have added is this also applies to the keybinds, if you have the perfect binds use /bind_save and store a new default keybinds.txt. /bind_load will load it up again. -
[ QUOTE ]
I can't really see why people are getting on the high horse about this. If I read correctly, then it won't affect you unless you do real money trading.
Also, RMT prices are insane, IMHO. As I like to say, if you trade with real money and virtuall money, the only loser is yourself. The seller just gets his cold, hard cash ready to spend it on whatever he likes, probably another MMO, then rack up the cash on that, buy another until he has dominated all the MMOs and now decides to buy a mansion.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't RMT as I play games to have fun, but I if I worked full time and didn't have the time to play as much I probably would though not I might stress in CoH which due to the ease of gaining Inf (earned 50 million in a couple of hours the other night). There is a new 'must have' mount in WoW that costs 20,000 Gold...
And that means that some people will do the RMT thing because they want to fit in. To that extent its no different from buying a flash car... though robbing the bank first is perhaps more in line...
Anyway if the government tries to tax virtual economies only real way of doing it will be to charge the economy owner, eg the games owner who will pass said tax onto the gamer through subs. -
Oddly I already have TP locations at eye level...
Put TP up two levels and you can stick the locations on to the front of those two levels. Generate ramps with normal desks (can remove as you would in Magic Desks) and ramp parts. If I wasn't downloading WoW path 1.6GbI'd post a screeny.

[ QUOTE ]
also /chatsavefile [filename] and /wdwsavefile [filename] save all your chat channel tabs and windows (where filename is the location and name of the file i.e c:\CoH\chat1.txt)
then you can just use chatloadfile and wdwloadfile to load them up onto whatever alt you're playing with at the time
[/ QUOTE ]
OK now that's useful
[/ QUOTE ]
However if you use:
/chatsave
/wdwsave
When you create a new character the settings saved will load as the new defaults, while using a proper name as quoted means you can save on a per/character basis.
Load commands are:
/chatload
/wdwload
But you only need to save the files to start with once they are in the CoX root they'll load up with each new character... -
[ QUOTE ]
3. give a wider choice of contacts then just one or two, if i can fight in kings row then i don't want to be forced to fight in the hollows.
[/ QUOTE ]
You aren't force to fight in the Hollows. You just get one mission to talk to Wincott, if you don't want to do his missions don't. Personally I start in AP and visit Wincott @ lvl5 before going off to start on paper missions to get raptor pack.
More annoying is being forced to go and see the difficulty settings girl in KR on every single damn character.
As for #4 I generally use the following lis if I want to do certain arcs/mobs for enhancement sakes, nowadays though I just save salvage to fully IO at 7/12 22/25 & 35+, it works out much cheaper and you can fight what is interesting not what drops the right stuff.
List:
http://www.rjcyberware.com/CoH/ContactNotes.phtml
((The list is fairly outdated but its the best I found.)) -
And while they add that Builds, SGs and any other tabular data stored in game outputted too please.
-
To much work too little gain IMO.
I'd prefer a way of looking at a recipe and be able to see the enhancement sell/buy prices for that recipe, rather than having to look each one up separately. -
XML (or something) output from the game recording stats like this would be nice, personally I'd leave anything more complicated for the fans to make, its getting the data out of the game thats the pain.

[ QUOTE ]
As there are so few missions outside, you shouldn't really notice any raids that much at all
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Level 1s can still easily outrun a zombie - they only get mugged if they stand there doing nothing
[/ QUOTE ]
Try zoning on a slowish PC whilst a raid is on, you zone into the zone and the zombies spawn and kill you before you're able to do anything. Has happened to me in various zones mainly after missions or returning from Orubous or Base TP. And because its happening everywhere at once you can't go somewhere else to avoid it, you can't go level because while you do something eats your head. Villains can't do a respec IIRC. -
Strangely agree with Phantoms.
However if the Zombie raid returns in its current form next year, or I believe it will with no notice contrary from the devs I will be un-subscribing for that month anyway. The raids cover too many zones for too long and is difficult too avoid, as such not fun. I pay to have fun.
Rikti Raids are bad enough and far too frequent IMO but a full 2-3 weeks of zombies was the back side of enough. -
[ QUOTE ]
Tried to pull myself away as well a few years back. Didnt work out. There is something immensely satisfying about this game that keeps pulling you back.
Must be the capes.
Anyway, welcome back.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its Spandex...
Trust me...
-
[ QUOTE ]
The thing is i do think that over all, the gme has to meny servers for the pop, rolling up 8 of the 15 would seem like a good idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
Problem is if they reduce the number of servers it will hurt some, who will leave leading to more servers merging...
By putting all the servers in a single list it would mean if you want something quiet you have the option or something busy that too. Free transfers off crowded servers onto quiet and paid back again. Would help even the populations out a touch.

Should rename IM's guides to Misguides...
