5.1 or better does this anyway doesn't it?

I mean on my old fashioned 5.1 speakers and old audigy I get what you describe anyway. Admittedly it'd be nice to get it when I need to use a headset too...

Which, I admit, I should have made it use right from the start. Better late than never...

But if you go into options you can set it where you want, a feature I am grateful for... I loath 'My this' 'My that'.

Also I want to change AM so that it imitates many Rads in one team, done everything I did in the previous version but not seeing any difference (I get the bar that shows how many stacks, and it adjusts the mez resistance but the recharge times aren't effected. How can I do this?

Did the EVE graphics upgrade cost players?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Nope.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well of course it wouldn't since there's minimal work involved with upgrading the graphics of space ships, which have little if none animation

    [/ QUOTE ]
I played EVE at the time, many of the ships have animations of one sort or another. But the real work was hcnaging low poly models for high poly models and retexturing everything. On top of that they also retextured and or upgraded the models of most of the things you see in space (not planets, moons or stars) stations, gates, junk, cans and such like.

I can't remeber how many things they said had been updated but it was a fair amount. Not that it has anything to do with this case as CoH is running on a different engine and some of the things that EVE does easily wouldn't be easy on CoH and vica versa.

Rather curious about this but how many people would prefer that the dev's forgo an issue for an entire graphics overhaul? or even a new paid expansion?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Lets expand on that:
Would people PAY for an entire graphic overhaul? Say the amount a new game would cost? If the gameplay would not be altered but the graphics got a big boost?

    [/ QUOTE ]
If the paid expansion was primarily a graphics update I'd not buy it.

Better graphics should be free and part and parcel of the subscription fee.

    More content I'd pay for.

Wait I didn't know COH was available on a mobile...

    Graphics Upgrade

    [ QUOTE ]
Graphical improvements aren't a player luxury, they are a game necessity.

The zones have got to compete graphically with Millennium City and Metropolis in their respective forthcoming MMOs because unfortunately eye-candy does count for a lot and trial players (ignorant of the potential great gameplay) are just going to turn their nose up at the graphics (and game) the moment they notice every fifth or sixth building or skyscraper is pretty much Identical, or the repetition of art resources and maps in-game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If a game sucks it doesn't matter how good it looks! And if CO and DCO look awesome but play badly on the PC we're likely to see an influx of players looking for something similar but with better game play. CoH game play is already great!

Also comparisons to other MMOs are only helpful when discussing generic common factors, unless said game run the same engine, the fact that EVE has had a graphical update that works in one way doesn't mean that CoH can go down the same route.

Though I fail to see what the issue is whether we farm them or not. If a mission takes ten minutes and earns one Merit/Character, I fail to see why doing that mission over and over is wrong. As long as I don't force anyone into doing that...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't mind people farming content either. However, the dev's do. I'm sure there will be single missions that could be completed in 30 seconds or less. This would be break the dev's goal of 1 merit per x minutes of play. I was thinking of it from their point of view.

I don't enjoy speed running myself but I don't mind in the least if other people want to do it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If the devs don't like farmers they have a funny way of showing it. Blizzard say they don't like Gold sellers but make everything worth having obscenely expensive which encourages Gold selling. Here the devs don't want farmers but then introduce a game mechanic that by its very nature encourages farming. Or if everyone refuses to farm them a mechanic that won't change a thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
To be honest yes. I don't think though that it should be an either or situation. The game urgently needs more content, while I don't expect huge amounts of end game content unless either there is something to do other than re-roll or PvP at fifty that immediatly loses some customers. I can't think of any level based MMO that doesn't give people something to do with their capped characters. Ideally I'd like to see a going rogue feature that includes some form of middle path with associated content, even if they take place in mainly the same maps as they do now, I like to read the story.

As for the graphics TBH I don't think they're that bad, better in many ways than WoWs and that has 12 million plus subscribers, better graphics doesn't make the game though.

So free normal update would include graphics and the paid for expansion would have more content.

And I believe that some form of power customisation is on its way too, especially after the much quoted interview and the fact that CO will have it.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
What I really want is a scanner of some sort to help me find the last mob on the map. You know. The one that rammed itself into some improbably small, dark niche behind a sign saying "Beware of the leopard." (I'm not bitter!)

Ideally it would put a glowy spot on the map. Perhaps hostages could show up in a different colour.

I think you're using the term 'general consensus' to mine 'what I think.' The threa discussing that came up with a number of different scenarios for what the 'previously impossible' might be, and Power Customisation is only one of them.

Another video showed far more sophisticated targetting, allowing you to target points of the body, rather than just the entire body. This could allow some interesting gameplay, and was, IIRC, removed due to impracticality.

    Putting this in...

I'd be gone that would totally change how the game is played.

And I know you weren't suggesting it, just...
  13. TBH for me I'm only ever going to actually look for merits when doing flash back missions.

1)I tend to play on level 50s, some of whom have no arcs left to complete (with the exception of anything added in i13).

2)I tend to duo and due to the game mechanics its practically impossible to get the same arc at the same time on two different characters unless you use the flash back system.

3)The most boring TFs/Trials have the best rewards merit wise, and if you stick to the good TFs you can only do one every 24 hours.

Flashbacks are the way to go, but TBH I'm fully expecting the devs to nerf repeat rewards from the same FB arc in the way they have TFs.

Though I fail to see what the issue is whether we farm them or not. If a mission takes ten minutes and earns one Merit/Character, I fail to see why doing that mission over and over is wrong. As long as I don't force anyone into doing that...

After all all I'll be doing is doing A Heroes Hero once every two hours and earning 19 merits.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I hope the devs realise that most of the players that are here, are here because they dont particularly like WoW. Ive seen enough games plummit because they have attempted to copy WoW. If CoH goes in the same direction thats it for me with MMO's.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I hope they don't. I know quite a few people who like WoW & CoH, myself being one. Even if you added another few magic based costume sets and a few magic based powersets the game wouldn't be remotely like WoW. WoW is more than about what you attack with, just as CoH is more than what powersets you have.

As for games that ape WoW, most of the dire ones are those that aimed themselves to be WoW replacements which is not going to happen. CoH can't be a WoW replacement due to its back story, game play and design. Just as it will never be a 'fantasy' MMO just because you can pretend some of the powers are purely fantasy origin.

Shields were added due to player demand, how is that bad?

    Base wish list

Various size stackable blocks that work like any of the current stacking items, but a range of sizes to make stacking a doddle.

All should have a basic skin I'd suggest a wood effect, a steel effect and a stone effect. Be available in a variety of thickness and at least one to stack from the ceiling down. Retaining the ability like the floor safe to delete reposition items from lower down the stack would be handy. Oh and allow another one to stack from walls out. All should have visible bottoms.
  16. Lots of really nice stuff, but nothing that says to me 'Play Me'.

That said I have yet to try any of the new arcs having spent 90% of the time since launch (of i13) either messing with my base which looks nice now or playing the (a) competition (WoW).

If you're not really into grinding another alt up to fifty CoH is beginning to look a little content light. Its not Doomed yet but finding something new to do in a five year old game is becoming far to difficult, game needs a paid for expansion with a huge amount of new content for all levels. (IMO)

    Salvage

    [ QUOTE ]
So from 999 down to 30 base salvage, not invention salvage, that can“t be right. Then I have to buy/build 21 more racks for all the salvage I have?

    [/ QUOTE ]
A base can hold a maximum of 18 storage containers, that is racks for salvage, inspirations, enhancements and personal vault.

    Salvage

    [ QUOTE ]
The difference here is that personal storage ( be it vault or toon ) is just that. Personal.

Allthough people hoard salvage, it's difficult to affect the markets too much when you have a maximum of 130 on your character.

Additionally, it's been that way from the start so the market has levelled out.

If you bump salvage racks up to even 100 invention salvage each then a SG has the ability to store nearly 2000 rare salvage and hoard them. This *will* affect the markets.
Even with 30 in each there will be an effect.

Bear in mind that anyone could form a one man SG for the sole purpose of invention hoarding. for 1800 prestige rent a month you can currently store over 500 salvage.

2 people doing that could completely control a high-tier rare. Make it 100 per bin and 1 person could do this to two rares.

    Fahie

    [/ QUOTE ]
But you can do that anyway, I already have something like:

    2 Accounts
    4 x level 50 each carrying 100+ items
    1 x Base with 540 items

Thats nearly 1000 Rare salvage straight off, thats not counting my other alts or the ability to store stacks of ten in the AH its self. As a method to stop hoarding this fails, as a method to create maximum annoyance it wins hands down.

Plus with people out there actively massaging the AH for best results the actual supply of salvage won't change drastically even if each base was holding onto 10k salvage. (IMO)
  20. You can also stack down from ceilings and out from walls, just find some decent items to do it with.
  21. It was added around the time they added the cheap setup base rooms, as such I think its for people who can't afford the 2x2 room.

    Purple recipes

Never hear of anything lower than 50 dropping them.

Most if not all of my drops have been on lower characters side kicked up to a fifty, either way fighting higher than level fifty mobs.
  23. If you want a dev response you would be better of either PMing GhostRaptor or talking to support (there is a link in GR's sig).
  24. Blaster Force Mastery - Force Bolt

Scrapper Body Mastery - That new blaster epic that lets you read what an enemies stats are.
  25. As someone said in another thread a character that has all salvage upgrades can carry 80+ plus pieces of salvage, with a further 50 in storage. It seems odd that to stop hoarding the limit is 30 items. A base full of these racks would hole 540 items which is only 4 maxed out characters, and anyone who is serious about playing the game can have what 36 characters on a server carrying 4000+ items.

30 Is too low, I reckon around the 100 mark for each rack and then limit the number of racks based on base size. Larger SGs and thus bases can use more racks and store more salvage.
